Hi,
I have a T580 stuck at Android 7.0 (failed to update).
Ideally, I'd want to change to custom ROM with smaller footprint. It's an old device with only 16 GB storage. I've tried to root the device but failed.
I think I can't flash custom ROM with Odin. So I have to flash to stock ROM first with Odin. And then probably go with TWRP and try a custom ROM.
Which stock ROM is the safest to do this?
Thanks

If you can still boot to 7, you don't need to flash another stock ROM. Just make sure OEM is enabled in Developer mode options and then flash TWRP. Then, you can use TWRP to flash custom ROMs. Just make sure you follow the instruction carefully when installing TWRP, because if you let it boot back to stock, it will just write over TWRP. You disable Auto reboot in the Odin options, so you can make it boot to TWRP before booting to system.

Hi,
I had several problems with custom rom, so I went back to stock ROM (latest MOB version) to start everything new.
Now I got the problem that it is not possible to flash CWM or TWRP again (tried different versions to flash with odin). I also tried to get back to UHOL2 bootloader and modem, bootloader is now UHOL2 but also custom recovery not working.
Any ideas how to get TWRP working again?
Thx
Jürgen
Can you root it?
Then you might be able to use flashify to flash the recovery.img

Uncheck auto-reboot before flashing TWRP trough Odin.
used CF Auto root - Phone Info says that root is working
which recovery.img should I try - CWM or TWRP doesn't matter for me
TWRP. CWM is outdated.
Uncheck auto-reboot before flashing TWRP trough Odin and removing battery was the solution!
Thx
Selecting auto reboot after flashing twrp causes the stock recovery to overwrite twrp and this is why the phone should be booted into twrp right after flashing.
Hi All,
A couple of days back, I installed custom ROM (Recreated Remix Leopard) successfully on Zenfone 5. I was on the stock lollipop 3.24.40.87 firmware before that. I rooted, unlocked Bootloader and installed TWRP recovery on the stock ROM and I also took a nandroid backup. After using the custom ROM, I decided to go back to the stock ROM. I used the nandroid backup for restoring and got the stock ROM. But, now I want to go back to the stock Kitkat ROM (as the lollipop sucks) and I also don't want the custom recovery or anything. In short, I want to revert my phone to the real factory condition.
I tried to go back to Kitkat by the ASUS official method. But that didn't work. Then I tried to re-lock the Bootloader with the tool from which I unlocked it. But when I did that, I got stuck on the USB logo screen. So, I unlocked it again with the same tool and the phone starts normally. So, how do I get back now?
What would happen if I flash the stock ROM via TWRP? Will it remove the custom recovery and lock the Bootloader?
I read a couple of articles, a few of them suggested to install the stock ROM with the official ASUS method (copy the files in internal storage and the phone will notify to install the update). The article even says that by this method any custom modifications (recovery, root, Bootloader) will be deleted. Is it true or will this work?
Thanks in advance!

Link rom WW 3.24.40.87 modded, flash via TWRP: drive.google.com/open?id=0B7Py5ad2aHwKMHRsZ1NJM0tfLTQ
If you flash this rom, it will not remove the custom recovery + lock the Bootloader
If you having a problem while flashing this rom, you need to flash stock recovery 2.22.40.54, after that you can sideload stock rom via ADB
Sorry for my bad english ^^

Hi, thank you for the reply
You said WW 3.24.40.87 modded, do you mean that this rom is not the official one? Does it improves the battery life and other bugs of the stock rom?
I really appreciate your help!
You cannot flash stock rom via TWRP!
This is modded rom, so you can flash it via TWRP easily....
It's Official rom from Asus, just modded to be able flash through TWRP

Thank you for the info
But the thing is that I am already on the stock 3.24.40.87 rom and I want to go back to Kitkat 2.22.40.54 because it has much more improved battery performance than the lollipop. Is there any modded version of the stock Kitkat rom too? Or how do I go back to it?

I have rooted my op5 and got twrp recovery but every time I update the rom by flashing it from recovery the recovery goes back to stock. Is it normal? Or is there a way to keep the twrp recovry ever after updating.
You need to flash supersu/magisk after flashing a ROM update to keep TWRP

Yes, and flashing the stock ROM also flashes the stock recovery. Hence TWRP being replaced.
If you want to keep TWRP after a stock ROM flash, just flash the recovery img file right after you flashed the stock ROM.

Or use Flashfire and check the appropriate box.
Use Flashify it's an app in the play store I had the same problem. Flash recovery via that

Yes. I updated mine the exact same way.
But remember, flash them all at once and reboot only after you're done. Rebooting will replace TWRP with stock recovery and you won't be able to flash TWRP in stock.
Flash stock ROM, Magisk or SuperSU and a TWRP.img file, then reboot.

Hi friends;
I need your helps.
My Samsung S8 has custom Oreo rom.
-Could i flash stock Oreo rom via TWRP?
-If i can flash by this way, will bootlodder and TWRP deleted?
Thanks in advance
If you flash a modified stock ROM specially prepared for use with TWRP, then BL and TWPR will remain unchanged.
If you flash the original stock ROM (firmware) then you can only do it through Odin or Heimdall, and in that case you will lose TWPR and BL (if it was different from the existing one).

I have one more question to you.
Now bootloader is unlocked. I can flash custom roms via TWRP.
If I flash the original stock ROM (firmware) via Odin, will bootloader be locked?
After flashing you activate developer mode and re-enable unlocking if it is not already enabled.

Surely you know that your stock ROM will not have all the functionality that the original has, because you have a Knox flag violation on your phone.

I need "car mirrolink" feature.
Existing custom Oreo rom has car mirrorlink feature(in Settings-Other connections menu),
but when i connected phone to car i cant use mirrorlink apps because there is not certificates.
If I flash stock Oreo Rom via Odin, can i use car mirrorlink feature flawless?
Once in TWRP, backup to an external microSD and copy the resulting directory to another device.
Flash the original firmware and see if what you need works.
If you have problems, you can re-upload TWRP via Odin and restore a copy of the custom ROM from the microSD.
