OP6t T-Mobile converted to international safety net failed - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Dear all,
now i bought 6t phone only one month before from Aliexpress.com, but the cheater seller sent to me a t-mobile converted to international and he didn't acknowledge
but now i updated to android 10 through the oxygen updater
the problem of the safetynet fails arises to me when i tried to use a McDonalds app then i searched about the problem i found it because of the safetynet is failed
then i understood that the phone is unlocked and converted from T-mobile
so now some apps not working like netflix, McDonalds , google pay and i don' know what else i will face soon
I don't want to root my device, because i didn't before and i don't have experience with that
i searched and found some people talking about magisk and it can fix the problem
i don't know it will fix or not and how to do it without root
if anyone can help me please to fix this.
thanks all

You need to root and fix the problem with Magisk, or downgrade back to stock T-Mobile in order to get a certified Playstore, and Gpay to work. Until T-Mobile offers Android 10 there isn't a option other than the mentioned.

Rooting and installing Magisk will fix your problem now. However, once T-Mobile releases Android 10 for their devices then that issue will be gone. Until then we just have to find other ways. Good thing you are on the XDA-Developers forum. Most of the answers to your problems regarding phones can be found here. I hope this helps.

So rooting is the only way I can do now to get Google pay works and play store certified
But what rooting will do for my phone
And is rooting my phone will erase all data

I would pursue refund from seller. Get Ali to kick his butt off the platform.

Good luck! However, if you root the phone you can bypass the problem. It is not hard and I recommend it :good:
How much did you pay and what would you expect for a refund amount?

I hope they will refund something I requested 150$ as I know if they approved they will give very little amount, I expected from them not more than 50$ if they gave as they taking seller side as some buyers also said
I will try to root it
But a question please, what will be changed if I rooted my phone ?

Okay but if T-Mobile released The update can I use it while I am on international rom now or I have to change something again
Also I am not in US, so at that time I can use it normally with my sim or what?
Because if any troubles I think I will root my device

While I am searching I found that you have to use a magisk hide prop to hide from it and bypass the safety net
I didn't root till now
But I will wait to check first

So I have a converted T-Mobile OP6T to Global version and having the same playstore certification issue after the A10 update. T-mobile now has a A10 update. How would I covert back? and if i decide to do so, what will be the drawbacks? will i get sim lock issue? or what if i the IMEI has been changed? would that cause any issues?

Possible root without ENGBOOT?

DroidModderX has just uploaded a video of a 1-click program called Dr.Fone that supposedly can root a bunch of devices. He shows it working on a Verizon HTC 10. The T-Mobile S7 Edge is on the list of supported devices on the Dr.Fone website. The program is $29.95. Has anybody tried the program on our phones or can a dev chime in and either confirm or deny it's "legit-ness"?
I know the fact that it costs money may sound like a scam, but that's what I thought of Sunshine on my HTC M9 at first. Even with the U firmware and root, these devices are still way slower and have crappy battery life. I won't be happy until a good root method is released.
Just updated the TEK thread... I just got it... Pictures are proof, as is the weeks of sleep I am missing..... I have been working on a full Developer Takeover.. Changed the build type, user, thumbprint, keys, props, no TIMA or KNOX, Permissive, Cut the stock rom down to 700 mb and the system apps are GONE... not disabled... And so much more....
Let me explain the pic of a windows screen. That is Mr.MobileHelper... A very honest 3rd party chinese app... On the main page you get stats on your device. As you can see, there is a spot for root.. Before with straight leaked kernel, it would show up as NO for ROOT... No exploits were done with that kernel. It was factory... This has exploits... I, however am going with about 5 hours of sleep in two weeks, and ****ing don't recall the exact steps... I have a potential gold-mine here, and forgot where I put my mine'n pan! FML!
And I have no clue what a Dr. Phone is... where is this link? ****EDIT Found
and it may be nothing... but doesn't look or feel like nothing.. .This rom is smooter than the U is stock... It is the U... But MY U
Exciting news!

Your second pic shows ENG BUILD, the same that comes up with the ENG kernel. I'm suspect that the program you used only rooted with the ENG kernel, and it leads me to believe, OP, that the Dr.Fone program likely must do the same :crying:
Edit: looks like you can download a free version of the program to root with, without having to pay the 30$ I would gladly guinea pig this, but I need my phone for work tomorrow. If none brave enough by weekend, I'll give it a shot.

I'm guessing Dr.Fone is similar to Mr.MobileHelper. But it looks like your program is using the ENGBOOT to gain root. If this is the case then these programs aren't any better than the manual root method. But try to get some sleep and get that ROM built and look into these programs some more!

I don't want to pay either if it's just engboot. But this is why we need somebody to test it to confirm its just the eng kernel. If their claim of "over 7000 supported devices" is true, they might be using an exploit somebody on their team discovered. Or maybe they use dirtycow. I just can't give up until we have stable root. Stock kernel and root would make this the perfect phone.

There's no reason to even try to spend the 30$. I was going to act all high and mighty with some comment about "everyone wants root, but noone wants to pay to try" and then pay myself, but just read their FAQ for refunds, it says they will not provide a refund if you don't test the free version....so test the free version and get the answer:
It seems pretty clear cut to me. If you do it on EngBoot, perhaps it'll root it for you so you don't need the manual SuperSU method....but not for 30$.
Ran it on both Stock 935T and also on the stock 935U with the same results.

Seems pretty cut and dry that the 30$ wouldn't be worth it and this topic is now a null issue/question.
With that said, the product itself also has only 4 reviews posted on its website. 3 of them created within a 3minute period by "Jane, Jerry, Alex" who were extremely happy to state how amazing DrFone worked on their Note (3's?).
Can we agree that the OP's question has been answered?
At least for the gs7, it's funny how it lists our gs7 variants in the list of supported devices.

That is where you are wrong, my friend... I forced that.. All part of a takeover.. And remember, the ENG kernel was NOT build on PI3, which this is clearly displaying Least you forget(or maybe you don't know) that there are MANY steps to finding and/or CREATING a vulnerability within a kernel or an OS... ESPECIALLY with the freaking types of encryption algo'z this thing can play with..
This isn't just downloading an app, pressing a button, and calling ones self an ub3r1337h4x0r.... This is reverse engineering... And as many people whom deconstruct/reconstruct better, I fu(*ing HATE documentating a DAMN thing.. So I have that to contend with as well..
See.. Download MrPhone if you want to test yourself... It's all free and blah blah... not gunna f*&k ya over... Now with your eng kernel on your phone, plug into mrPhone(which is only a device admin app.. does NOT root) and look at the kernel and root status... It will show just as I say.
I am uploading a current BOOTING BUILD PROP complete with TEST-KEYS and more.. Also totally broken encryption and verity... Hoping to break this ***** down to an exploitable level... At this point I am too far in.. Now it's 4tLulZ

Has anyone tried to fake the chinese device and then use it's solutions to gain BL Unlock or root? Just saying... THAT is the same hardware.. I think someone was giving one of these devices away to a tester for testing... I am using my production phone which is causing relationship issues that I could totally do without.. So I mean... Someone else is going to have to grow a pair and start hacking at this thing too... Or I need that test phone.. because I am ready for some major testing, yet sphincter too tight to pull the cord of a full device fake....

All these posts make it sound like you're getting somewhere. That OEM Unlock switch threw everybody off the first few days after the phone came out. A lot of us assumed that the T-Mobile version would be unlocked like all their other phones have been and pre-ordered it. And if I remember correctly, not everybody with T-Mobile phones had that switch in dev options. Not that it did anything for the people that did have it

to my understanding from other methods that i've seen on here they all say to remove ur sim card so idk might be an option if someone wants to attempt it and if it works I'm down for doing it
I found one with all workarounds for the problems with rooting this phone. Fixes for data cell service, and you can google wifi fix to save your wifi information after reboot. Involves build.prop editor.
@Nickvanexel Normally when folks boast about something important on a popular device, they back it up with either a how-to or links that point them in the right direction. VZW: Tethering available? Require Hotspot subscription?

Hi All,
I'm very interested in the Moto G5 Plus, and I see that it already has Unlock Bootloader and Rooting threads, but I am looking to see whether or not tethering is a thing on Verizon G5 Plus. I would like to use my data plan but not have to pay extra for the hotspot.... they already gouge us on the price of the data plans...
It tied to your sim. So they will know you are using tethering.

This is true, but in the past and even with the Moto Z Play Edition they had tethering enabled out of the box without the need for a separate hotspot data plan... That's more towards what I'm looking for in this phone.
its a combo of what services are tied to your sim, and what the phone supports.
you can root and enable it if you don't get it out of the box.

I have not seen any root method on here for the US version. I believe the current root is for an Indian variant, I believe the XT1686. If I am wrong on this can you point me to a root method tutorial for the US XT1687. We just got this phone for my sister but I was holding off on rooting until a solid method was available with a non beta TWRP recovery built. Again if I am mistaken on this please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I'm quite positive this phone will support tethering without the provision you mention since this is not running Verizon branded firmware. Much the same as some of the older Verizon branded phones that could run a aftermarket ROM, which totally bypassed the provisioning flag that Verizon put in place. Furthermore if you are already on one of Verizon's newer rate plans, then tethering is supported by pretty much every phone they have without provisioning. I'll have my sister give tethering a shot and report back the results.

OK, sounds good. I received confirmation from someone on T-Mobile that it's not required for a mobile hotspot data plan.
I'm excited about Verizon though.

As far as root goes, that post is made by a guy in Brazil and the links he provides are for videos by a guy in India. The US variant is different than the international versions. I wouldn't feel comfortable using that root method and messing something up since there has not been a recovery image released yet. Once you unlock and attempt to root, if it fails and you have no recovery image, you are hosed. I prefer not to soft brick my phone and make it unusable until someone provides a valid root method with recovery images. I personally own a Moto X Pure that is unlocked and rooted, but it is well documented unlike this brand new device.
Well, give it time guys, the device just came out. once everything is rooted and all, there will all sorts of mods

I agree, I'm in no rush at all, as I appreciate all the effort the Developers put into these devices. Most of it on their own time. I was just giving solid advice for rooting a device if you are a non developer like me. I can't afford to force the issue and mess up my phone with no way to restore it. I am glad to wait for a US version root method with a restore option. Hopefully that will be soon , if we are lucky.

Lol, that is definitely true.
I'm just impatient and was hoping it was good... not "too good to be true" lol

I followed that root method on my US g5 plus and it worked fine. It's a solid method you just have to follow the instructions to a "T".
That's good to here but there still isn't any recovery files if something goes wrong. You rolled the dice and came out a winner, might not be the same for someone else. I'll wait until recovery images are available, especially since the phone isn't my own.

If you can obtain root using the methods mentioned here (rooting requires an unlockable bootloader, and a voided warranty) you can add this to your build.prop:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true

I have the EU/Intl version fully unlocked. I can tether with the hotspot using my tether allowance.
If I root my device and edit my build.prop as you've stated what exactly does this do?
Does it mean I can use the inbuilt hotspot/tethering function but instead of using my tether allowance it uses my mobile data?
Changing the build.prop allows you to tether if your verizon plan doesn't include tethering without a separate charge. Newer verizon plans have tethering included as part of your data (ie use it how you like)

LG V20 US996 radio off after Security update 2017

I'm in the UK and imported the v10 shortly after release which let me down earlier this year by turning off, so I upgraded and imported a v20 which was fine, however I received an update this morning which after running, has left me with no network or reception. I've checked around and the radio is off and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it back on.
I've tried whichever code it is that gets me into the phone information and then get an error message saying the application isn't installed.
I've read that restoring the phone fixed previous problems for some people, but it's only created more problems for me as despite using LG's useless backup app to backup personal data, settings etc, none of the settings/home screen/passwords or whatever have carried over. I've been kicked out of most of my apps and contacts aren't connecting with others.
Can anyone suggest a way to either roll back to whatever the previous version was, or to get the radio to turn back on so I can use my phone as a phone?
I seriously should've stuck with my G2 which is still working after all these years!
Same here...just updated and no service...trying to get the radio on but to no avail. This code will let you enter the service *#546368#*version number#.
I am on US996 version, what is yours?
US996 as well. I'm talking to someone from LG USA now and they're saying there's no way to fix it unless I send it in, which I can't do.
Wondering if rooting and flashing a new OS will work. I need the security for online banking, but I also need to be able to receive calls.

For real? Send it in back to the states? Why would they release an update that bricks a phone seriously? I was now live chatting with someone from their support and she's like i need to send it on my expense but it still under warranty so i wont pay anything but they ship only back to the US and i live abroad...What a big hassle... Hopefully someone will have a fix.
Did you do a factory reset?
I think I would find a kdz for the last known good firmware and restore back to that.
Factory reset and lost all my settings. I can't get back into half of the apps because they require security confirmation via text or phone call.
Luckily my phone is still under warranty, so I might have to send it. I have a friend who can receive it and send it back to the UK. Cheaper than a new phone.

I did using LGUP...the service is still off...i donno why would they update the phone in order to brake it...Anyone had any luck with this??
Damn.
Well I'm trying to figure out when is best to send it overseas, but I'll be doing that. Using my G2 for the time being.
This really might be it with LG. I haven't liked what they've been doing with their phones since the v10 and there seem to be endless problems with everything since the G2.
No Service after the update
Guys im stuck as well. did everything restored the old firmware using LGUP. and then updated again. still no service. i don/t know what to do. please help.
You can try using TWRP flashing this modem.
Remember to use Dirtysanta to unlock the bootloader, not through the LG Developer Program, so you can save your warranty.

Thanks Anoneko for your great suggestion . I installed that modem image using TWRP and WOOOOOW my network came immediately.
I followed the below thread of installing TWRP before installing the modem image.

Thanks LG for nothing
Do you lose security stuff? Internet banking, android pay etc?
SAME! I have to force mine by making one FAILED call, then another that connects.

I've read over the information and I'm fairly sure rooting it will lose all the stuff I need.
I'm not fussed about warranty as it runs out in 2 months, but I use android pay /Internet banking daily.
Glad you got it sorted out though.

Unfortunately, you will lose your data if you root it . I'm sure that you will find a solution soon.

I'm not fussed about data. I can back that up again, more concerned about ability to use android pay /Internet banking apps.
Has anybody figured this out yet? My phone is just laying there with no purpose...this is frustrating

[Bounty] Verizon Pixel bootloader unlock

I don't know if this is the correct place, if not, please reallocate accordingly.
As the title suggests, I'm willing to pay $30 dollars for having the verizon bootloader unlocked, hope more users get into the cause.

Ah ok, I already have mine unlocked but I would love to have the option to lock and relock at will. Did Ismael charge for the service to unlock? Was it done remotely?
What is involved with unlocking the boot loader?
Smail simply uses teamviewer to remote connect to your computer and uses Flexihub to connect his computer to your phone. I did a factory reset and took out my sim card and skipped connecting wifi. I went straight to develop options and turned on USB debugging and he did the rest. He said turn on wifi and reboot and 5 minutes later i was able to toggle oem unlock. He didn't charge me he said he takes donations but not necessary. I was just as skeptical anyone but he genuinely has figured it out.
I can also confirm that @Kream24 is correct. This method is legit. He didn't charge me either, but I did donate $10 to him.
I've run custom roms on every phone I've owned but this one. Really not missing much without root. Definitely fun to tinker with but, I've been able to pretty much do anything I need to without it. Sure it involves more steps using adb and buying pda net to get around the 15 gig Verizon Hotspot. I do miss viper but, I'm having no problems with my phone.
If I were going to unlock I wouldn't be afraid to use smail's method and I'm kind of paranoid about who touches my stuff.
