Unlock bootloader without losing data? Possible way - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

I have been reading some post about this matter, and I've found an interesting choice, but can't try it yet, I haven't got the enough time use of the device yet.
You can go and read it in the link I inserted before and -here- too again.
Or read it here:

I think clicking on 'Reboot' on the unlock tool sends the script to erase all data.... Here's what I did:
1. unlock bootloader normally
2. unplug phone without clicking on 'Reboot' button at the end
3. Force power off by holding power button for about 10s
and when it rebooted.. it went right into system..phone booted normally with the 'unlocked' logo at boot with all my data untouched.

Can anyone confirm this?
I've a Redmi Note 7 w/ MIUI 11.0.4 EEU

I want to try it,but I don't know if it may cause problems

update...clicking on reboot also doesn't erase memory... I've flashed a lot of custom rom on my phone...returned to stock using MIUI flash tool.......unlocked again....
probably changed something on the firmware of the phone idk.

DHD got bricked

I had Revolution HD rom or something like that don't remember it't long time it worked. One morning I woke up and my phone didn't respone. Yesterday everything worked..When i tried to boot current rom it stuck on HTC screen..Okay so I decided to flash new rom because recovery still work but I probably lost my root because it can't delete previous rom..Today after long time I decide to ask you what to do. When I tried update new version of rom today it looked like everything it's fine but is stuck on HTC logo or restarts over and over again..
Sorry for bad eng..
DO you want help?I can help u if u only want it
Go into the recovery, wipe/format everything and flash a new ROM. Wipe is needed!
Sleekykenny: Of course i want
I wiped everything but it writes error when I wipe system.
I also flashed new rom and and got message saying successful, but when i reboot my dhd it just stay vendors screen which is 3mobile. But if i remove the battery i can get hboot menu. i also can get into clockworld recoveryand flash rom and wipe data etc. can anyone help or is my phone bricked.

Guys I'm not an expert in this, but when you flash a new ROM it takes time to load. Maybe you just didn't wait enough.

You're right. When intalling a new ROM, the first boot is longer because the new one is building a new Dalvik cache and so on... depending of the release.
Be patient a bit more, then report ...

if you can get into your phone into hboot/recovery/fastboot then your phone is not a brick!
the problems with white htc screen is called a bootloop. like the user above suggested use a full wipe. easiest way is connect phone to PC and go into fastboot from your options when in the bootloader
type in fastboot erase system -w this will erase all system and userdata
then disconnect phone from PC when that is complete and navigate to your recovery option. select the recovery option and then mount back to USB cable and select USB toggle option so you can data transfer to SD card.
put new rom you wish to use or redownload one you wanted. then try again
It's actually a splash loop, a boot loop is the boot animation. But you get the idea

the only option i get when i get into fastboot from the phone is bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader and power down. if i chose any of the above then they all go back Hboot menu. cannot get into menu to type in fastboot erase sytem -w. can u advise me on where is the menu?. or i'm i doing something wrong..
thanks.

I don't understand where u was waiting.
Can you describe what was happening?
Are you able to access the bootloader??
1. Pull out battery
2. Put in battery
3. Hold power + Volume Down buttons until inside bootloader UI
4. Use volume keys to navigate to the "Recovery" option then press the power key.
5. Once recovery has booted, use volume keys to navigate to the "Factory reset & wipe data" option, then press power key.
6. Reboot.
Results?
Had the same problem in the past.
I downloaded an RUU and managed to get my phone to boot normally.
Take a look on this:

Got part with fastboot but where am I supposed to write -w? I'm not that good in this that is why I ask here for help. But thanx anyway. And I tried wipe everything using recovery and when I wipe system writes error all the time.
I also tried all the above method but to no avail. Then a friend of mine bought the dhd so i made a goldcard from his phone loaded a pd98img.zip and flashed.. my dhd is back in action... i think this is your only solution, find somebody with the same phone. If u cant let me no i'll send you a gold card.
If it could help me than upload it somewhere And tell me how to use it. I heard about it but not sure.
You can remove your sd card then you will be able to choose the recovery option instead of it constantly going to hboot. The hboot looks for a file and asks you to instal or not install and then tells you to power of. Remove you sd card and you wont get this option so you can go into recovery and reflash a rom (you can re insert your sd card once in recovery and chose the mount option)

Stuck on google logo

Hey guys
i just wiped all my data and tried to reboot my nexus, but now it's been stuck on the google logo for ages...
trying to flash to stock + unroot with nexus toolkit doesn't work, any way to unbrick it?
please help...
do you have fastboot driver installed?
Step 1: Power down your Nexus 4 (hold the power button until it shuts off) before rebooting into fastboot mode. You can do this by holding down the the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously.
Step 2: Connect your device to your computer. Open up a terminal or command prompt, and navigate to the folder containing the fastboot program.
Step 3: Type fastboot devices into the command line, and you should then see your device’s ID, which means fastboot is setup correctly.
now go back to Nexus 4 toolkit. Flash back to stock.

not booting after flashing something or modding something is the easiest of all to fix, just reflash the rom(gapps and kernel too if need be), no need to wipe anything. since i test all the trinity kernels before any get released, and pre-kernels, i get many that dont boot my device or bootloop(among some other funky behaviors), reflashing a good kernel always works
I left my phone for a few minutes, and when I picked it up it was bootlooped again, and i had to use fastboot again. What should I do now? Maybe a factory reset would help me. I don't want more unexpected bootloops. :/

Try another rom. You might have downloaded corrupted zips. Also, make sure you flash the things you need first. Eg, flash rom and gapps. Don't restore anything if you're using titanium backup. Try restarting the phone, see if it gets into a bootloop. If it doesn't, then try restoring apps from TB. (if you use TB.)
Hi!
I´ve got a big problem. Today i flashed the new PA version, but it seems that the download had some issue. I could install it but after a while, I wanted to reboot the phone and it got stuck at the Google logo. I can only access fastboot mode and recovery.
So the problem is, i made a full wipe, so i have no rom on the sdcard anymore. Also I am now able to enable the debbuging mode. I tried every toolkit i couzld find, but everyone needs debugging mode enabled. windows doesnt recognize the phone ( it says unkown device). So i tried to install the adb drivers, but nothing happens.
i wanted to try to push a rom with adb on the phone but it says no device found. i am such a noob, i hope some can help me.
thx

Stuck in Boot-loop

I'm not sure what's going on with my device or how to fix it so I'm hoping someone here may be able to assist.
I just got my Moto X from AT&T. It came with Android 4.2.2 and immediately upon starting it up asked me if I wanted to software update to which I responded no. I then used this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45598679) to root the device with the PwnMyMoto. I installed the APK and the device was then rooted. I restarted the phone and upon reboot I was asked again to update the software.
This time I did update the software and the device proceeded to turn off, restart, and do this over and over. It would continue to turn itself back on for somewhat of 20 seconds before saying "Powering Off..." and then restart again. I tried using the RSD Lite method to flash the stock firmware back on the device but RSD Lite wouldn't recognize it, even with USB debugging on and the phone in bootload mode.
I could really use all the help I can get. It's completely stuck and I have no idea how to recover it from this state.

Anything I try to do in fastboot menu results in the phone restarting. If I select any of the options, it just starts the phone up and goes through this process all over again.

Make sure all Motorola drivers are up to date , I believe its Motorola device manager, otherwise rsdlite will not recognize your phone
Also your phone needs to be in fastboot mode, hopefully it won't reboot during the process

What keys are you hitting by chance when you get into fastboot? I had the same problem with mine while trying to root it and get software updated on it, but mine is a developer edition so I had some options.
I would try this first.
1. Turn phone completely off (you will have to have the phone unplugged from the wall outlet and/or computer when you do this) by beating the bootloop and powering it off manually.
2. Hold both the volume up and volume down and power button at the same time for 4 seconds and let go of all of them.
3. This should bring you to fastboot
4. Plug the phone up to your computer and open a command prompt
5. In the command prompt type in fastboot erase cache
6. Hit enter and it should show on the phone that your deleting the cache partition.
7. After its complete use the volume down key to go to Normal Power Up or Normal Boot (I can't remember what exactly the option is)
8. Hit the volume up key to select it and it will start booting back in Android.
Let the phone sit for a few seconds and see if it restarts anymore. If it does then your only option to stop it is to either erase user data or RSDLite it back to factory. You can erase the userdata by doing this.
1. Power off the phone
2. Hit the volume down and volume up and power button for 4 seconds and then let go
3. While the phone is in fastboot open up a command prompt on your computer and hook up the phone by USB to your computer
4. In the command prompt type in fastboot erase userdata
5. Hit enter
6. After it completes type in fastboot erase cache
7. Hit enter
8. Use the volume down key to select Normal Powerup or Normal Boot and hit the volume up key
9. That should get you back to android and let you set it back up. After that I would no longer take an OTA update unless you removed root.

Thank you for the help, I was able to get RSD Lite to recognize the device. I'm restarting it now in the hopes that it will successfully have flashed the stock ROM. I now don't really know what to do about rooting/unlocking the bootloader. Any ideas? Not sure if it's possible for the AT&T version due to all their stupid restrictions.

I think I'm asking the wrong questions.
With my Moto X (AT&T - NOT developer edition) on 4.2.2, I'd like to install CyanogenMod. Of course the bootloader is locked, but I'm not presently aware if it has been cracked. I don't want to install TWRP and risk bricking it if it's not going to work.
Has the bootloader been cracked yet?

No, your boot loader will likely never be unlocked, as for cm Roms , again not at this point in time. The only way for locked boot loaders to flash Roms is with safestrap and that requires a safestrap compatible kernel. To make you feel better, you can get all the customizations that cm has with xposed frameworks and a few modules on our stock ROM. So there's really no reason for cm roms

Change firmware from A to G - meizu pro 5

Hello,
I tried many guides on web for changing the firmware from 5.1.2.0A to 5.1.2.0G without any luck.
The phone goes in bootloop and the only way to restore it is to flash again the original 5.1.2.0A firmware.
Could someone please suggest me a good guide or give me a good hint?
Thanks much!

hello..
is that work on meizu pro 5?
Converting the phone from A to G isn't as simple as the classical firmware upgrade. The version is checked and flash is denied if not the same (A =>A only)
Look at this tutorial and use method 2 or 3 : https://meizufans.eu/forum/topic/25...ional-firmware-on-your-chinese-mainland-meizu
It's fine for A=>G or A=>I
Didn't worked for me
I'm the owner of a meizu pro 5 runing Flyme 5.1.2.0A and none of these two methods worked for me. When I run the terminal commands both on phone or computer, it seems to do something, but when I reboot the phone always go to bootloop, and the only way to use it again is flashing the A version of the frimware again via recovery.

Yes, I know. The command line says the process has finished, then the phone is inresponsibe (As it has to, following the explanation on the meizufans web tutorial). Is only then when I reboot my phone and enter to bootloop.

After flash, you can try to reboot in recovery (volup+power), clear data and then reboot normaly. First restart is a bit longer but you knows it already.

brick problem, noob here, plz help

my problem is kind of abnormal. i couldnt find solution anywhere so i came here. my device was zenfone 5(t00f)/lollipop.
so i wanted to root my phone. i followed this guide >>
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-5/general/zenfonetoolkit3-24-40-87-t3406557
the tool i used is called ZenfoneToolkit_20160719, downloaded from here
HTML:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B0AFmAAcGS5xbWpTQzBQVTN3b1k
. its a bundle of .exe, .dll, .img, .bin files. but no need to work on them seperately, there is a simple cli tool from which you can choose what you want to do and it executes that file for you. below is the list what you can do.
1. Wipe Cache
2. Factory Reset
3. Flash Boot
4. Flash Recovery
5. Flash Fastboot
6. Flash Stock ROM
7. Root
8. Unroot
9. Unlock Bootloader
10. Relock Bootloader
11. Zenfone Rescue aka Debrick
12. Fixing Generic IMEI 004999010640000
13. Backup MicroSD
14. Flash Boretz Kernel Lollipop
so wiped cache[1] first then i tried to root[7]. sadly it didnt work, when i turned the phone on it took me to fastboot screen, there i had only a few options like, normal boot(doesnt happen), recovery mode, restart. when i turned it off and pressed power and volume up together it would go to recovery where none of the options works. i though that was what called brick, so followed this guide to make my life better

my phone by default came with kitkat. so when i downloaded the firmware i wanted to get a kitkat. but i couldnt find a matching recovery img and firmware for kitkat on asus official page. so i downloaded jellybean. ASUS ZenFone 5(T00F/T00J) software Image: V1.18.40.9 ww for firmware from here
HTML:
https://www.asus.com/support/Download/39/1/0/2/96nqlxHp1VKV4Rdz/32/
. and recovery img is 1.18.40.9_ww_recovery.img from here

. i dont know what "ww" means in those name but i saw it in my software version before so i went with it.
All the steps went smoothly, by the end of it i guessed my phone charge would be low so i put it in charge and turned it on. first time it turn on without a problem. i checked out a few things and leave it for charge. after a while i came back and battery was 0%. i thought i would be wise to plug out and in charging port again. as soon as i pull out the pin, screen instantly turned black and the phone went dead after a looooong ass vibration.
now when i try to charge the orenge light at top lights up but the animation that shows battery always show its empty. if i try to turn it on while plugged, it shows asus logo/intel logo and goes dead again. if i try to turn it on without being plugged, it shows a battery logo with a question mark, which i think means the phone cannot find battery.
i am stuck here.... plz someone be my savior.
Hello my dear, to get out of this problem I did the following: I connected the phone to compuador by USB cable (with himself off), then he calls and gets the question symbol, it held the power button plus volume up he must restart to get the logo asus about 4 seconds after loose the power button and continue with the volume button up insured. It should enter into fastboot mode there do the necessary procedures to reflash the system.
I hope you helped, hug!
