Random resets? - OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Questions & Answers

I had T-Mobile Mclaren for a couple days and were getting random resets. Cleared cache and did a system reset but that didn't fix the problem. So I returned the phone.
I loved the phone but now I'm on the fence to get another one or not. Has anybody experienced any random resets with this phone? Maybe I had a faulty unit?

Crashes, Reboots and Boot Loops

Hi, im just wondering if anyone is having this problem. Im on an I9505 and am getting some horrible crashes. Im struggling to pin point what is causing it as it happens at random times. Sometimes I can go days with no problem but then out of the blue it will crash. What happens when it crashes is the bad bit though. It goes into a boot loop, it starts, displays samsung screen, goes into animation, stops halfway and then reboots again.
I have to take the battery out for a few mins and it usually restarts.
I have tried pretty much every firmware there is and it does it with everyone.
Ive tried restoring to factory, wiping cache etc.
Im now at the point of returning the phone as ive pretty much had enough now but i thought id throw it out there and see if anyone else is having this problem.
Im now in the process of reflashing back to MDM and trying one last time.
Someone please Help
I have never had such problems. It crashed once, but it was my fault so it doesn't count. If you have tried everything, then probably the phone is messed up and giving it back to the shop is the right decision to make.

Yeah all done and now sent away to Samsung. The guy in carphone warehouse said to be honest, he has had quite a few back with several types of issues especially overheating. He also said that considering the high value of the handset, Samsung would be very unlikely to try and fault find the problem and would most likely send me a new one. Should take a week to two weeks.

[Q] i9500 randomly reboots, wifi doesn't work and other problems

Hi, I bought my GS4 i9500 around 2 months ago, and few days ago while I was listening to music, someone called me and I noticed that the phone was a bit hot. I'm not exactly sure that that was the source of this problem.
Anyway, when I put the phone down, it didn't work, and after a few seconds it rebooted.
Ever since it rebooted it keeps doing problems - it reboots once in a while, the wi-fi doesn't work, and the touch is delayed sometimes (it doesn't respond for a while, and after a few seconds it suddenly responds to all the gestures I did over the last few seconds.).
I tried factory resting it, change frimware, clear cache and everything, and still nothing worked. It still does these problems.
I took it to the store where I bought it and they flashed it, and still it didn't solve it.
The problem is I rooted the phone, and I'm afraid the warranty won't be accepted if I send them the device.
Anyone knows what the problem might be?
Sorry for my bad English.
Thanks.

you dont have other then flash stock and send it to warranty, they may not check binary counter.
it may be a hardware issue.

Anybody else getting random reboots?

So this started happening only 2 days after getting my G2. Basically my phone reboots randomly whenever I unlock the lock screen. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough that it really bugs me and I'm considering factory reset, but I dont want to lose my info and have the reboots still continue

**Yes I am also getting random reboots when unlocking the screen. At first I thought it had to do with the lock screen type I used or the lock screen pattern but it is still happening now that I'm using a pin to unlock my phone. I am completely stock and got the phone the day it came out.
The reboot happened a couple times within a few minutes and seems very random upon unlocking the screen. If others are experiencing this I highly suggest posting here.
I came from the LG G2X and that phone had a similar issue involving random reboots but was definitely fixed by LG eventually. My Asus Transformer Prime had a random reboot issue as well and eventually fixed.

Got my G2 5 days ago and have had at least 3 random reboots or shut off reboots the the last three days.
Today 4 times reboot when unlocking with Code unlock.
Actually considering returning the product.
did you try uninstalling some of the stuff you installed? One by one?
Did you try factory reset?
Stock everything?

I don't really have anything crazy intensive on my phone but it's worth a shot.
As of today I have had several reboots when unlocking the screen. This occurs whether I have the lock screen active or not.
I am considering returning the phone too if this keeps happening. I'm absolutely sick and tired of defects/bugs (whatever you want to call them) like these plaguing my devices.
all it takes is bad install of apps, wacked permissions and what have you.
Eliminate all software possibilities before you blame your phone m8 .
nope completely stock
this just started happening to me today, no idea why... I haven't installed any new apps lately. is it a problem with my phone? you think swapping it out will fix the problem?

lol factory reset and wait few hours, dont restore backups and stuff, that eliminates about everything!
whats left, bad rom, but at that point warrantee
I have stock lg g2 doing same thing. A hard reset didn't work and I have only basic apps that came on phone. However I have been able to turn off lock screen and so far no reboots (yet). T-Mobile has given me a runaround about getting it replaced. Still inside my buyers remorse,I have finally gotten a supervisor to give me a new phone. Tmobile supervisor confirmed lg g2 having a lot of issues. So that said I'm saying goodbye to lg g2, going with something else. Tmobile finally took care of me after being on hold for 5hrs and talking to countless people! Lg g2 has issues but T-Mobile has major issues and that's being really polite!!!

i exchanged it
i went in to tmobile last night to exchange my phone. it took two hours because of a some $1.12 price difference but they eventually got it to work with some trickery. i'm a very patient person anyway.
literally while i was typing this response i was going to say i didn't have the random reboot but JUST F'ING NOW it happened again. I'm immediately doing a factory reset and UNFORTUNATELY and using the phone without instalilng a damn thing. hopefully i can get some idea of what the problem is before my 14 day return window is up or else this phone is going back as much as i hate to say it.
I had a similar problem with my phone while trying to unlock it. Once it started rebooting, it would go into an almost endless cycle of reboots. Sometimes as much as 20 reboots in a row.
I had tmobile exchange the phone for me. No issues since with the replacement. I do definitely think there is a bad batch of G2s out there.

Let me start off by saying I'm a jeweler and am used to looking for stress cracks developing inside of stones, well I found this issue with 2 LG G2s.
I am on my third G2, not because of rebooting but because the sapphire glass that covers the camera starts developing micro cracks running across the lense, has happened twice now, I had it in one of those windowed cases, they suck don't bother, no protection. Anyways, had this issue with the transformer tf201, microcracks develop along edge, then bang, giant crack from corner to corner, no mis use needed, was just bad design. These microcracks are all internal, no breaking the surface.
The way you find them is get light to reflect off of the glass covering the camera, now slowly roll the phone side to side and back and forth, now look for lines reflecting light back at you. If you see those exchange the phone, they will eventually grow, like a windshield crack, and feacture ruining the camera optics.
Hope no one else has this issue, oh and this third LG G2 came with the Isis sim in the box, unlike my first 2, I'm in chicago.
VZW
Clean Rom 1.0. No problems or reboots. I have had the phone for about 2 weeks.
Picked up the phone day 1, no issues at all. Fantastic device!
The recent update to gmail was the culprit for me. I started getting the reboots immediately after the update. I uninstalled updates in app settings this morning and haven't gotten a reboot in 12 hours. Maybe it's an issue with the gmail lockscreeen widget after the update? I'm on the verizon g2.
same rebooting issue here for my TMO version. thought it was my lockscreen widget from nils, but then it consisted after i took it off, and still consisted after i factory reset it. so I exchanged the device and got a new one.. same day I got it, it started rebooting again. thinking about just returning but its such a good phone, sad if it has to come down to it.
Simple as this. Random 'reboots are bad. If it's uprooted, exchange it. If it's rooted, use a diff Rom or figure out what you did. One random reboot is enough for me to go ape **** lol. My gnexus did it once and I was back at the store that day.

update
quick update. since exchanging the G2 for another G2 I have not had any random reboots. I did take into account the advice from a previous post on this topic that his gmail update may been the catalyst for the reboots. I waited to update gmail until a few minutes ago so we'll see how it goes.

Bootlooping start on V20 H918 now?

I brought couple used T-Mobile V20 which is H918 but both seems start having the boot looping issues that would restart itself 5-6 times a day with normal use, some times even just listening songs with bluetooth at work would restart 2 times in 4 hours... I can't get replacement from T-Mobile since I didn't buy from their store and don't have receipt for LG to warranty although it still made within a year
Random reboots & forced close should not be confused with the dreaded G4 & v10 bootloop issue.
Bootloop suggests you can't fully boot your phone, not that it reboots after some use.
God knows what they've been through if you've bought them as used..
I can only suggest a factory reset & reinstalling a factory stock rom.

Actually my first lg v20 (which i bought on october 19 and arrived on October 21) came defective and that is what was causing the random reboots and even the sim card showing no service and an x on the icon. Then after they replaced it for me i never had any random reboots that wasnt intentionally caused by new mod kernels or other mods or roms. So..... Chances are about 50% your devices had the same issue as mine but they didnt mention it on the sale description.
I would try force updating to the H19810p update. I had this issue 24 hours ago, and spent a mass majority of the day fixing it. This resolved any issues I had, fixed the boot loop, got rid of the Device is Corrupt, and put me on thw latest firmware.

Random Freeze and Reboot

Ok this is becoming a little annoying. I just got the phone yesterday as a trade-in and already experienced at least 4-5 random freezes and reboots. Did anyone else have them? I know there was an update released for unlocked versions of the 6T. I'm beginning to wonder if I jumped the gun and should have gone with the unlocked version as I did on all my previous OP purchases.
Update: I already encountered this 4 times just this morning and countless times since I got the phone on the 31st.... What do you guys propose I do. It appears to be happening randomly. It happened once as I was trying to unlock with my finger and it just stuck with the unlock animation for about 10 seconds and just went into full reboot mode. I'm now very much annoyed of this!!

Factory reset
Exactly the same..
I purchased the OnePlus 6T less than a week ago and I have experienced 7+ "restarts" since having the phone. It doesn't matter what application you are in, it just turns the screen black for about 3 seconds then restarts back to the lock screen, where it asks for your lock code. I have already completed a factory data reset and am still getting the same problem. I'm am rather aggravated about this whole situation and I am about to get a replacement from T-Mobile.
Damn. sounds like its a t-mobile issue. Could be some of their bloat or configuration. I've bought mine from www.oppomart.com, and have had zero issues. running 4 days straight now, and no reboots yet - not even a forced reboot. Had a sweet 3 hr session of Guns n Boom PVP last night too never missed a beat (also found it getting less warm than the original 1+6 too. Love it!
Happens to me as well. Factory reset with MSM tool but it didnt help. Probably a hardware issue then. Ive read in OP6 forum that you should check out if you can complete the benchmark of internal memory with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....sdbench&hl=de
Mine got stuck at 2% when I tried.
Using non t-mobile variant. I dont get reboots but freezes for a few seconds.
Spontaneous soft reboots
I have also experienced a few soft reboots. The odd thing is that I bought the 6T because my previous phone, a OnePlus One, had spontaneous soft reboots. Perhaps all OnePlus phones are manufactured with a built-in spontaneous soft reboot function.
This is ridiculous. I'm not paying a high price for a new, defective phone. I have to return it if there is not a very quick solution.
The freezes are gone since I've updated to 9.0.11. firmware. Now on AOSiP and still no issues.

What does "AOSiP" mean?
Do you mean the radio firmware?
Do all OnePlus 6T phones get the 9.0.11 update through the regular updates?

It's a custom ROM.
Well -11 should actually already be on your phone. The ota update arrived last week already.
Random reboots
The xda-developers.com forum is playing nasty games with me. It erased my previous message from yesterday. Very unpleasant! Apparently a software defect that occurs when one user enters two postings without any other posting in between.
Anyway, does anybody here run the OxygenOS beta? Any soft reboots?
I have had another one this morning, again while reading Google News.
Hi, i've got the same issue with may 6T, and some persons I know they have random freezes on OP6 too...
I've got these random freeze from the OB1, with OB2 They have diminished, and now with the OB3 I hoped they had solved nothing instead ?
Has anyone managed to solve it?
Haven't had any issues since I used msmtool to revert to complete stock .11 firmware.
I initially experienced random reboots at the rate of once every 24 hours, this started after updating to 9.0.11 via OTA .
What I did was, downloaded the same OTA from OnePlus official services and flashed it manually, the magisk uninstall image method.
So far it's been 3 days and I've not had any random reboots.
I'll update this thread if the issue returns.
