Anybody else getting random reboots? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this started happening only 2 days after getting my G2. Basically my phone reboots randomly whenever I unlock the lock screen. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough that it really bugs me and I'm considering factory reset, but I dont want to lose my info and have the reboots still continue

**Yes I am also getting random reboots when unlocking the screen. At first I thought it had to do with the lock screen type I used or the lock screen pattern but it is still happening now that I'm using a pin to unlock my phone. I am completely stock and got the phone the day it came out.
The reboot happened a couple times within a few minutes and seems very random upon unlocking the screen. If others are experiencing this I highly suggest posting here.
I came from the LG G2X and that phone had a similar issue involving random reboots but was definitely fixed by LG eventually. My Asus Transformer Prime had a random reboot issue as well and eventually fixed.

Got my G2 5 days ago and have had at least 3 random reboots or shut off reboots the the last three days.
Today 4 times reboot when unlocking with Code unlock.
Actually considering returning the product.

did you try uninstalling some of the stuff you installed? One by one?
Did you try factory reset?
Stock everything?

I don't really have anything crazy intensive on my phone but it's worth a shot.
As of today I have had several reboots when unlocking the screen. This occurs whether I have the lock screen active or not.
I am considering returning the phone too if this keeps happening. I'm absolutely sick and tired of defects/bugs (whatever you want to call them) like these plaguing my devices.

all it takes is bad install of apps, wacked permissions and what have you.
Eliminate all software possibilities before you blame your phone m8 .

nope completely stock

this just started happening to me today, no idea why... I haven't installed any new apps lately. is it a problem with my phone? you think swapping it out will fix the problem?

lol factory reset and wait few hours, dont restore backups and stuff, that eliminates about everything!
whats left, bad rom, but at that point warrantee

I have stock lg g2 doing same thing. A hard reset didn't work and I have only basic apps that came on phone. However I have been able to turn off lock screen and so far no reboots (yet). T-Mobile has given me a runaround about getting it replaced. Still inside my buyers remorse,I have finally gotten a supervisor to give me a new phone. Tmobile supervisor confirmed lg g2 having a lot of issues. So that said I'm saying goodbye to lg g2, going with something else. Tmobile finally took care of me after being on hold for 5hrs and talking to countless people! Lg g2 has issues but T-Mobile has major issues and that's being really polite!!!

i exchanged it
i went in to tmobile last night to exchange my phone. it took two hours because of a some $1.12 price difference but they eventually got it to work with some trickery. i'm a very patient person anyway.
literally while i was typing this response i was going to say i didn't have the random reboot but JUST F'ING NOW it happened again. I'm immediately doing a factory reset and UNFORTUNATELY and using the phone without instalilng a damn thing. hopefully i can get some idea of what the problem is before my 14 day return window is up or else this phone is going back as much as i hate to say it.

I had a similar problem with my phone while trying to unlock it. Once it started rebooting, it would go into an almost endless cycle of reboots. Sometimes as much as 20 reboots in a row.
I had tmobile exchange the phone for me. No issues since with the replacement. I do definitely think there is a bad batch of G2s out there.

Let me start off by saying I'm a jeweler and am used to looking for stress cracks developing inside of stones, well I found this issue with 2 LG G2s.
I am on my third G2, not because of rebooting but because the sapphire glass that covers the camera starts developing micro cracks running across the lense, has happened twice now, I had it in one of those windowed cases, they suck don't bother, no protection. Anyways, had this issue with the transformer tf201, microcracks develop along edge, then bang, giant crack from corner to corner, no mis use needed, was just bad design. These microcracks are all internal, no breaking the surface.
The way you find them is get light to reflect off of the glass covering the camera, now slowly roll the phone side to side and back and forth, now look for lines reflecting light back at you. If you see those exchange the phone, they will eventually grow, like a windshield crack, and feacture ruining the camera optics.
Hope no one else has this issue, oh and this third LG G2 came with the Isis sim in the box, unlike my first 2, I'm in chicago.

VZW
Clean Rom 1.0. No problems or reboots. I have had the phone for about 2 weeks.

Picked up the phone day 1, no issues at all. Fantastic device!

The recent update to gmail was the culprit for me. I started getting the reboots immediately after the update. I uninstalled updates in app settings this morning and haven't gotten a reboot in 12 hours. Maybe it's an issue with the gmail lockscreeen widget after the update? I'm on the verizon g2.

same rebooting issue here for my TMO version. thought it was my lockscreen widget from nils, but then it consisted after i took it off, and still consisted after i factory reset it. so I exchanged the device and got a new one.. same day I got it, it started rebooting again. thinking about just returning but its such a good phone, sad if it has to come down to it.

Simple as this. Random 'reboots are bad. If it's uprooted, exchange it. If it's rooted, use a diff Rom or figure out what you did. One random reboot is enough for me to go ape **** lol. My gnexus did it once and I was back at the store that day.

update
quick update. since exchanging the G2 for another G2 I have not had any random reboots. I did take into account the advice from a previous post on this topic that his gmail update may been the catalyst for the reboots. I waited to update gmail until a few minutes ago so we'll see how it goes.

[Q] G2 erased itself twice without me confirming anything

Hi everyone I preordered on the first day and I got one of the first batches I guess. Well up until a few days ago everything went well with the phone. But 2 days ago i put my phone in my pocket at work and 4 hours later I pull it out during lunch break and my phone was completely erased. It went back to stock asking for me to enter my google account. At first i thought that launcher pro was closed and i was back at the original home screen but everything was actually erased. I couldn't believe it. I never had this happen on any of my previous phones.. So I reinstalled everything and the same thing happened the next day but this time my phone was on and launcher pro kept force closing and it was stuck in a loop. Then i went to reboot and the phone was completely erased again. Is this apart of that rootkit chip that i have been hearing about? I havent even tried the temp root. When I think about it i have just started using launcher pro a few days ago. Could that be the problem? For now I wont use launcher pro and see what happens and I will keep yall updated. And thanks for any help that you can provide.
LAWL.... and the NAND strikes back.... if it happens consistently thatn it might be time to exchange for another oner
That happened to me once too. I also thought it might have been an adw launcher issue. Ive been back to the standard launcher for about a week now without any issues, but I dont really know if that was the problem
I don't know if Launcher Pro might be the problem. That was probably the first thing I installed when I received the phone. I haven't had this happened to me and I'm using the Visionary temp root.
ok so far since i dont have launcher pro installed everything is working fine no reboots today from what i can tell.
I had the same exact problem. I go to sleep, wake up to look at my phone to send a text.. and all of my text are removed. This happened yesterday, I was soo mad I contacted Tmobile and they told me some stupid stuff like get a sms backup.. I just paid 300 dollars for a phone, which was no problem, but we as customers shouldn't have to backup our text every 2 days.. that is redic to me. I am the type of person that likes to keep my LOGS of my text so I really like having them there even from my old G1 3 years ago I try to keep them. old pictures that girls send me via text I want to keep that.... and keep in mind I don't use launcher pro just because of the problems i've been hearing it has. SO this happened on a Stock, never tried the temp root tmobile G2. crazy huh? and I don't have insurance on it, so I am kinda put in a bad position. ANy suggestions? it's past my 14 days. Keep in mind I REALLY love this phone though, just that was too much for me. I don't want to go to sleep and wake up with every text removed ever again. Oh and I get random reboots.. prolly 2 a day. HOpfully this update I am hearing about from androidspin will stop all those problems.. is it me or does the G2 seem to have worst reception than the G1? sorry for the long message, just wanted to vent to other G2 users.. I love the phone though, best phone ever if working correctly
Try waking with no software on your phone. That happen 36 hours after getting the phone. Did a recovery and everything came back With the exception of all my personal stuff. Funny thing is whatever happened In the middle of the night fried my sim. Everything is good now going on 2 weeks. I absolutely love this phone.

Bizarre Glitches...is my phone haunted?

I personally have the HTC Arrive, and have NO problems whatsoever...great phone.
My wife on the other hand opted for the 1 cent LG Quantum/Optimus 7. She had a bunch of problems, mostly because we were sharing a Zune account. Then, she got her own account. There were a few problems that continued after this. She called AT&T and they sent her a replacement phone. The problems continued....
Issue 1
Phone will freeze while trying to slide the unlock screen. Have to remove the battery and restart. This happens 1-2 times a day.
Issue 2
Music will stop. Time will change back 24 hours (change the date) and time will change to 20 minutes earlier.
Anyone have any solutions?
This is an early problem with the first revisions of the Optimus 7 boards. There were many cases of freezing and restarting that could only be solved with a replacement of the mainboard. I recommend getting another replacement, as there are, as of now, no firmware updates you can apply.
freezing msm
I hate to dredge up an ANCIENT thread, but my optimus freezes too. Currently it only freezes when i recieve a text message - it's slightly annoying though, as I have to return to the unlock screen to un-freeze it.
is there a fix for this?

Crashes, Reboots and Boot Loops

Hi, im just wondering if anyone is having this problem. Im on an I9505 and am getting some horrible crashes. Im struggling to pin point what is causing it as it happens at random times. Sometimes I can go days with no problem but then out of the blue it will crash. What happens when it crashes is the bad bit though. It goes into a boot loop, it starts, displays samsung screen, goes into animation, stops halfway and then reboots again.
I have to take the battery out for a few mins and it usually restarts.
I have tried pretty much every firmware there is and it does it with everyone.
Ive tried restoring to factory, wiping cache etc.
Im now at the point of returning the phone as ive pretty much had enough now but i thought id throw it out there and see if anyone else is having this problem.
Im now in the process of reflashing back to MDM and trying one last time.
Someone please Help
I have never had such problems. It crashed once, but it was my fault so it doesn't count. If you have tried everything, then probably the phone is messed up and giving it back to the shop is the right decision to make.

Yeah all done and now sent away to Samsung. The guy in carphone warehouse said to be honest, he has had quite a few back with several types of issues especially overheating. He also said that considering the high value of the handset, Samsung would be very unlikely to try and fault find the problem and would most likely send me a new one. Should take a week to two weeks.

Wanna talk about random reboots.. That was weird.

So I am at work and my 6P had to have just rebooted itself over 25 times in a row. It would go to the lock screen and then repeat. I finally got it to stay off for a few minutes then turned it on and its working again....
9/10x its a rogue app. without a logcat, its difficult to determine the root cause. usually advice comes as, start over, don't install apps, pick and choose a few, etc.
Nexus 6P random reboots
My 6P has acted that badly but it has restarted/shut off a couple times since last Thursday when it arrived. Is this a software issue? Like is it a glitch in Marsh mellow (due to marsh mellow being new it could be possible of some bugs, but this is a major big if it is one) or an app causing it to act poorly? Thinking of doing a factory reset...
*Background info - I took it to Verizon when I got it and put in the nano sim but since the lady there skipped over the set up portion I factory reset it and set it up again just to make sure nothing was missed (unneeded I know lol) but I wouldn't think that would cause a problem.
Seems maybe tmo? Every time it would reboot the signal showed LTE with am exclamation point. Now I'm getting the same text 5 times.

S5 Rebooting issues with 2 of the same phone? (HELP)

In November I had bought 2 Samsung Galaxy S5's from Walmart through Straight Talk. One for me and my Wife. They worked perfectly until about the middle of March, and my Wife's phone had kept restarting non stop whether she was on it or not. Sometimes more than once in a 30 second span. Then one day it didn't do it for about 2 days.. then MY PHONE starts doing it. Non stop all throughout the night and just die from battery drainage. I eventually contact Straight Talk to do a swap for a different one since I still had warranty. It takes them about 10 days total for me to get my replacement. The entire time my phone was sent out my Wife's never restarted or acted up once. I get my replacement yesterday and mine phone is running great and hers tonight just RESTARTED ON IT'S OWN. I'm very confused because it seems are phone's are making one another restart? I have heard problems of the S5's restarting for no real reason at all, but why would hers be doing it only when I had gotten mine back up and running? I'm seriously out of answers and tired of this restarting issue happening. We have tried factory reset, freeing up space, deleting all apps, safe mode, clearing cache often, and the problem still persists. If anyone could help, I would be truly thankful!
