after restart soft keys are not responsiveness for a while - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

I'm on oreo 8.1. Since a while, soft keys works immediate after phone reboots but stop then. After a few minutes they come alive again.
I thought it was the launcher. I use nova launcher and tried Microsoft launcher. Same thing.
Some ideas how to figure out what causes the issue?
I also uninstalled xposed edge for test.

Force Close Launcher

Hi, I've been having problems with my N1 started last week, when my phone just started to freeze and I would get Force close using my launcher pro at times I would have to turn it off and back on for it to work. Two days ago I switched to WP7 Launcher and having the same problem. Where it would just force close and still not work and would have to turn it off and on.
Any advice would be very useful.
Anyone able to help me? I uninstalled LP and installed it again and i'm still gettng the same issue. Should I master reset?

Lockscreen not working, also "System UI isn't responding" and Settings app FC

Lockscreen not working, also "System UI isn't responding" and Settings app FC
Hey there. I hope this hasn't been addressed already, I wasn't able to find a thread that would help me.
I'm running stock 6.0, no root. A month ago, one day my MXP lockscreen started having some pretty terrible problems; it wouldn't respond, basically. Pulling down would end up with a frozen lock image, then I'd need to press the power button to switch it off, then press it again to get to the proper lockscreen, and that wouldn't work either. After trying about 200 times I would be able to unlock it, then I'd start having problems with the notification bar (wouldn't work/wouldn't get to quick toggles). I tried rebooting several times, but after a few seconds on the issue would start again. Somehow after a while it seemed to start working properly on its own.
Today the same thing is happening. Only this time it's persisting after four hours. I guessed I would just disable the lockscreen altogether, and that seemed to work for about ten minutes. Now I get the notification bar issue, random system UI not responding messages, app switcher issues, a sometimes-not-working home soft button, and when I try to set the lockscreen again it asks for my pin (which I'm not sure it should, being that I disabled the lock); when I type it in the security app crashes.
The issue persists on safe mode as well.
Any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance
Factory reset?
Time for a custom ROM, may I suggest TruePure 2.9

OP isn't rooted, so suggesting a new ROM is not going to help. If this is happening even in safe mode, it isn't app related. Sounds like a hardware issue. Contact Motorola (or Lenovo).

Phone Lock-up Problem

So, I have a very curious problem with my phone. Sometimes, randomly, usually when playing video, my navbar and statusbar disappear completely, and then everything just goes to black, my wallpaper comes up, and then my lockscreen. The phone just locks itself. I use fingerprint, but I need to enter the code to "enable fingerprint". I'm guessing System UI is crashing, but why?
I used to be on stock ROM (Marshmallow), stock kernel, rooted, and had Xposed installed. I had a ton of Xposed modules installed and frankly, I thought one of the modules was the problem. My phone would, as I described lock itself while doing somthing. It seemed to be random, but happened the most while watching videos on YouTube. Sometimes this would happen 4-5 times, and I'd find my wallpaper replaced with the factory default one.
I recently flashed Lineage OS 14.1 and ElementalX kernel, re-installed Xposed (though an incomplete version, the one made by the PurifyOS team) and enabled only 1 very minor module (Android Phone Vibrator). I was very unpleasantly surprised to see the same thing happening, yet again. Not necessarily after enabling the Xposed module . It only happened twice so far, (while using WhatsApp) but the symptoms are the same. My navbar and statusbar disappear, although this time the screen freezes, instead of turning off completely. I can still turn off the screen and open the power menu using the power button.
I can provide logs, or any other info necesarry really, but it's really hard for me to catch logs, because I can't reproduce the error. It's really driving me insane. Please, help me..

Well, that's pretty hard to do, since these "lockups" happen with long intervals not really consistently, so it'd be really hard to disable everything I installed and use my phone for a few weeks in that state.
@MMMedic Did you resolve your problem?
My Moto G4 Plus has started doing the same thing as you described, even down to changing the wallpaper.
My phone isn't rooted and I'm just using the stock Android.
I'm not sure what to do to fix it.
I think resetting your phone and start a fresh without restoring a backup and install only the apps you need would fix your issues..

[FIX] If your home button stopped working

Last week, I took my phone off the charger and noticed that the home button was not working. Did multiple reboots, clean wipes and also reinstalled the stock ROM, nothing worked. Did the *#808# fingerprint test and found that the figerprint sensor was not responding which led me to believe this could be a hardware issue. I did not have the time to go to the service center so I turned on the on-screen navigation bar and used it like this for a few days.
Today, I thought I'd try to sort this out one more time before I take it to the service center. The *#808# fingerprint test still showed the sensor not available. Rebooted the phone and turned the on-screen nav bar off. Lo and behold the home key started working. I do not know how this happened, I'm just glad that it did.
Just thought I'll post here so that if anyone has issues they could try this out and it might help someone.
Cheers.:good:
I got the same problem. My OP5 Home button(with fingerprint scanner) stopped working suddenly. It got stock android since purchase. I never tried to root it. It suddenly became unresponsive. Will try to use nav bar for few days. Im getting ghost touches as well. Any Help appreciated.

Hi. I have the same issue on my op3t, Oxygeos Version 9.05. My home and recents buttons do not work but fingerprint works fine. I turned on the on-screen nav bar and the home and recents buttons don't work there as well. Turning it off didn't solve anything. Any idea? Thanks
Facing exactly the same issue after upgrade to 9.0.5. home and recent buttons are not working, but fingerprint is working fine. Did you resolve this issue by any chance? if yes, please let me know as well how it was resolved. thanks. -ramesh
Try doing a factory reset, but take a backup before doing that.
Sent from my OnePlus 3T using XDA Labs
I am also facing this issue. It started off with a boot loop into the recovery every time i try to start the phone. It stopped after i cleared cache from recovery, but the default launcher doesnt work properly, no notifications in my drawer, and many other issues. the hardware buttons are responding (it lights up when i tap on it) but the OS doesn't do anything with it. I have tried with switching to the soft keys and it behaves the same way as well. the fingerprint scanner and back button works so far.
i'm having this problem too Got a OP3T, i found out a bit of info, it has to do with the screen, i'm still facing this problem so im gonna buy a replacement screen and see how it goes, ive already replaced the earphone jack board that houses most the flex cable connections and i also replaced the speaker, home button, and the usb c flex cable to no avail. what i haven't tried was to replace the battery and the main/sub flex cable inside. i'd really like a fix for this.
go to Settings -> Apps -> All Apps (ie including System apps)
look for com.android.fingerprint... or com.oneplus.fingerprint...
"Force Stop" it. and go to its storage and "Clear Cache" , "Delete Data" .
Now restart the Phone.
Worked for me on OnePlus3T running OxygenOS 9.0.5.
Phone was also on charging through out the procedure .. I doubt if it would have any significance though.
Good Luck.
I could not force stop this app.
MY SOLUTION
this is what it worked for me with OP5
I deactivated fingerprint, reboot to recovery, wipe cache+dalvik, restart (without fingerprint anymore) and it seems to be working just fine again.
I have observed this issue too in my oneplus 3 with oxygen os 9.0.6 and also in previous releases. The only thing that works for me is just to reboot the phone.

Issues with my device crashing

I purchased a Mi 9t a few days ago, and I'm experiencing a recurring issue that I can't seem to solve.
From time to time, the UI will simply crash. I can still see my apps but I can't open them, and the notification bar on top of the display just disappears. I can't access anything and my only solution is to reboot. Sometimes I'll have to reboot multiple times a day, which gets old quite quickly.
Most of the time it seems the issue occurs when I'm trying to go to the home screen, whether with gestures or with the home button.
- At first I thought it was a conflict between the gestures in Nova launcher and the gestures of the phone. Turning them off in Nova didn't fix it, so I tried to disable the phone ones and started using the navigation bar, but it didn't fix the issue either.
- I did clean Nova launcher's cache along with the system launcher's one, didn't fix anything.
- I tried to do a full factory reset, it didn't fix anything either.
- I tried to disable the search bar, didn't fix it.
- I tried using another launcher, didn't work.
- Using the system launcher didn't work.
I'll add that my phone and apps are all up to date.
I didn't find anything helpful on the internet, and now I'm out of ideas. Is it software, or could it be hardware ? I can still send the phone back and get a replacement, should I ?
Thanks for your input !

Hi there,
When you did a full factory reset did you start from scratch or did you import your backup?
If you did it with your backup once you were setting up your phone again, it may be some app that you have recently installed.
If you did factory reset (without restoring your backup) and still experience the same issue it could be Software/hardware issue (software being more likely) and yes you should send your phone for repair or get a replacement phone.
But before you do I would advise you to wait until another software update / Security patch is out and see if that resolves the issue for you if it does it was software issue if it does not it is a hardware issue.
Hope this helps
Thank you for taking the time to write an answer, I appreciate it !
Because of a delivery error I received a second device, so I decided to switch and send back the first one. I also suspected that it was more likely to be software rather than hardware, but thought I'd do it just in case. So far the issue happened once on the new device.
You raise a good point I hadn't thought about. I transferred the data from my old phone to the new one, at first. When I did a factory reset I entirely wiped the data on the phone, however I had backed up my data with Google and the Mi cloud, which I restored.
I think I'll try doing an entirely clean install if the issue persists. Thanks you !
