Is it possible? Someone on reddit claims to have downgraded but how? I asked but he's changed devices so doesn't recall
I am not sure about that. What I did was keep Oreo bootloader and flashed Pie. This enabled me to go back to Oreo. If you updated your bootloader I dont think it's possible to downgrade.

I just fired up my FE and I found a roll back guide online. I have no idea why the article I read says you can roll back from Pie to Oreo. It gives links to "roll back" firmware. The links are just stock Odin firmware that are revision 5 bootloader. Once you upgrade the bootloader you are stuck on that version. I have no idea why it's even posted.

Ok I just checked my Note FE. I remember now, I did not upgrade to revision 5 bootloader. As you will see from the screen shots. My backup of Oreo is revision 4 bootloader and my backup of Pie is also revision 4 bootloader. This is why I can go between the 2. I had previously said that I flashed v4 bootloader on Pie. But I do know it can be done.

One is S4 the other is U4 even though one is Oreo and the other is Pie both have the same bootloader..(4) S just means security update U means firmware update. So by having same bootloader I can go between Pie and Oreo. The latest update for the FE changed the bootloader to U5. Since the number changed that means you are locked to that bootloader and firmware and can only downgrade to firmware that has revision 5 bootloader.

motochopper wont work now
I have WW_V10.6.2.8 and JB 4.2.1 stock. motochopper used to work just fine. But since the last OTA update it has stopped working and I get a Failure message at the rooting step (same as the screenshot above). Not sure how to root now. Any help will be appreciated.

Either downgrade where it worked or unlock the bootloader.

I do not want to unlock the bootloader.
The version that worked was 10.6.2.6 but how do I downgrade? It says on the Asus download page "Firmware update cannot do *SKU conversion* and downgrade version".
P.S. I do not want to lose my data / wipe the tablet.
Hi,
My M is running system 9.8.1Q-78
I know the bootloader can't be unlocked with this OTA.
My question is, I gained root like a half an hour ago, if I were to flash back to 4.0.4 7.7.1Q-144 OTA with RSDLite (I have the full fastboot zip) would this also revert the bootloader to a version which can be unlocked?
Thanks.

^ and that resolves that question.
if you want a further explanation, there is no way to downgrade the bootloader. RSDLite only restores the system. once the bootloader is upgraded, your SOL

technically it's the trustzone kernel that's getting upgraded. but yeah. once you're on .78, you're stuck
Could anyone provide the stock boot.img for the SMG530AZ on 5.1.1
I recently updated the phone to lollipop and I rooted with kingroot and replaced that with supersume and flashed what I thought was the original boot.img the problem I have now is that my phone starts works and is rooted but the wifi does not work and will not turn on.
Go to settings > About Phone and tell me the compilation number. @markocl17

Ok, so here is what probably happen. You flashed the boot.img for the G530A (You can see that in the SE status). I will be trying to see if I managed to get the firmware for your phone. I can't assure I will but I will try!
However if you are willing to reset your phone you can try this.

Sorry, no I wasn't able to. Forgot to update you, had school and stuff. Do a factory reset from KIES (link in my last post) best o'luck!
@markocl17
Do you know how I would go about downgrading to kit kat?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using XDA-Developers mobile app
I don't think, it would be possible to do so due to Samsung KNOX Bootloader. But if it is you need to find the firmware to flash on ODIN, you find someone willing to make a system.img from their phone (Must be a G530AZ). Using KIES it is only possible to recover the lastest firmware available.
Sorry @markocl17

The build is still listed as MRA58K aka 6.0.0 and in software version and the hidden menu it still lists 6.0.
edit: are you sure about the new emoji? I don't seem to have hot dog or Lion face (the first to 6.0.1 emoji that I tested).

Hi. I need help.
I have a OnePlus 8 Android 1, Model IN2015) with unlocked bootloader, but No root or TWRP installed, just unlocked bootloader. When I bought it, it is already like this. its came with security patch of 08.2021. Now i got a pop up notification of Security Patch 11.2021 via OTA but its fail to install, its same via Oxigen Updater o Automatic OTA.
Can I get OTA updated (security Patch) with unlocked bootloader or not???

In my case, No. Incremental updates (around 125Mb) are not possible if you have unlocked bootloader. I must to flash the complete update (around 2.9Gb). I already did it.

The status of the bootloader (locked/unlocked) has no influence on whether you can update via OTA. Every Android 11 update I've received for my OP8 has been via OTA and my bootloader has been unlocked since day one. Many, many other people have the same experience, I'm not unique.
