[Q] Revert to old bootloader for unlocking - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My M is running system 9.8.1Q-78
I know the bootloader can't be unlocked with this OTA.
My question is, I gained root like a half an hour ago, if I were to flash back to 4.0.4 7.7.1Q-144 OTA with RSDLite (I have the full fastboot zip) would this also revert the bootloader to a version which can be unlocked?
Thanks.

No.

^ and that resolves that question.
if you want a further explanation, there is no way to downgrade the bootloader. RSDLite only restores the system. once the bootloader is upgraded, your SOL

technically it's the trustzone kernel that's getting upgraded. but yeah. once you're on .78, you're stuck

I just copied and pasted this out of the other thread you started... Unless your bootloader shows S-off, there is nothing you can do. If it's S-on, you just have to wait for a new exploit.
From what I posted in your other thread.........
If the phone has never been rooted before, then you are going to be S-on. Since you have the new bootloader, AND you have S-on, there is nothing you can do to root the phone at this time. You cannot downgrade to 2.2, you cannot downgrade the bootloader. The only thing you'll be able to do is wait until someone figures out how to get S off on the new bootloader, or if someone figures out a way to downgrade the bootloader. The only way you can downgrade back to 2.2, is if the bootloader is S off. Also, if the bootloader was S off, downgrading to froyo to 'reroot' is a complete waste of time. All you need to do is flash a PC36IMG of a recovery image, and then use that recovery to flash a new rom. That's it. Anything more than that is a total waste of time, and a bunch of steps that don't need to be taken.
So, unfortunately, all you can do is wait until someone figures out a way around the new bootloader.

How to verify if bootloader is already unlocked or not?

I'm planning to flash the Qualcomm specific patches to my device, which requires unlocked bootloader.
So without going through all the trouble, I want to make sure if my device's bootloader is already unlocked or not.
Is there any easy way to check my bootloader status?
I'm running stock unrooted KitKat 4.4.2

Turn off your phone and turn it on again. At the Google boot logo, if you see an unlocked lock icon at the bottom of the screen, then your bootloader is UNLOCKED.
Something like this:

The above post is definitely the easiest way, but this app takes it a step further and tells whether it's ever been unlocked or not, as well as its current state

Did anything get figured out with this? I'm bricked too and can't do anything about it because the 5.1.1 firmware isn't out and I can't figure anything else out to fix it.
I was able to acquire the following files...
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Flashing these finally brought this hopeless nightmare to an end.
I had the Kingsroot + SuperSUME = FAIL brick condition and this saved the device (it wasn't even my device, I was fixing it for a friend). Let me know if anyone is interested.

You would need to relock the bootloader to get that to go back to official. I don't believe there is a way to do so currently.
Having an unlocked bootloader won't cause audio issues, just an FYI

So as I understood,I need to flash it again and relock bootloader again?
That would get you back to full stock. However, like I said before, I don't think there is a signed bootloader image anywhere, so I don't think you can fully lock that back up yet.

In my case, No. Incremental updates (around 125Mb) are not possible if you have unlocked bootloader. I must to flash the complete update (around 2.9Gb). I already did it.

The status of the bootloader (locked/unlocked) has no influence on whether you can update via OTA. Every Android 11 update I've received for my OP8 has been via OTA and my bootloader has been unlocked since day one. Many, many other people have the same experience, I'm not unique.
