Anyone installed TWRP and willing to write a little tutorial? I'm already bootloader unlocked and rooted, but a bad xposed module caused a factory reset. So I figure now's the time. Also, I've heard TWRP only works on Oreo, is it possible to downgrade by flashing the Oreo .kdz? I've seen that both Pie and Oreo have the same AntiRollBack version, but I'd like to confirm with anyone who's actually done it. Also, are there any custom ROMs or working GSIs? I feel bad for asking but it seems like these forums have almost totally died and there is definitely information out there that doesn't get posted here.

How is that possible? There is Lineage OS for G930V. I mean someone must have unlocked it already.

Nope, all US snapdragon S7s are bootloader locked, no Lineage OS for it afaik, just look in the Snapdragon ROM development forum

It's not possible dont waste your time possibly bricking your devices, there's no bootloader unlock and probably never will be...

You can install twrp using FlashFire after flashing the ENG_BOOT image. It works on 7.0, not sure about Oreo.

Ok so I am a mom of 3 including an infant and exhausted trying to figure this out. Trying not to clog the board opening a new thread. Long story short- I want to use an app that the developer has not been able to fix the errors with it when using Nougat on an S7. They suggested I upgrade to Oreo or Pie to fix this. I have an unlocked phone purchased outright on eBay and use Total Wireless. So there will be no one to assist me in this. I'm fairly tech savvy so I looked on YouTube about rooting and upgrading with a custom ROM.
I watched these videos:

So easily I enabled developer options and OEM unlock and USB debugging. Downloaded Odin and Magisk and no verity and Gapps and lineage 16.0 (from Ivan Meler) and twrp with the twrp-3.3.1-0-heroqltechn.img.tar file which I determined is which one I needed.
Odin will not flash TWRP (one of the first steps). Fails every time. It does start blue and I did download and install the latest Samsung drivers package just to be sure.
Then I found it was probably because I had a locked bootloader. So, I used this tut and that did successfully download to my phone via Odin. But TWRP still will not "flash" to the phone.
Now, my fingerprint sensor says "The fingerprint sensor is not responding, please try again later". and my phone has a security notice stating "unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone and undo any unauthorized changes". So I am thinking that I did successfully unlock the bootloader? But TWRP still will not flash.
I considered using oneclickroot.com but it's $40, phone only worth about $100, and my husband is convinced they're going to steal info from my computer and phone in the process (even thought they're XDA endorsed). They also told me they can only give me Oreo not Pie.
I have downloaded and used SuperBackup. Also all my photos are auto backed up to Google and my contacts and calendar are too. So I don't think it's a huge deal if I lose everything. Even if I brick it I can get another. Reinstalling and relogging into all my apps will be a pain but whatever. I have a password app that can be logged into from the web.
Also my camera has been getting buggy and not opening and having to be restarted and in general the phone is just getting glitchy, so I was hoping an upgrade might help.

hi. thx, but i did this right (like in the video) many times, and it worked perfectly. now is not working cuz the bootloader was updated, and it won't let me downgrade the firmware anymore. i am still trying to find a way but i don't know if is possible.

I have searched the whole web. but, I haven't find the solution to downgrade the bootloader for Binary 6. Well, my phone's OS is dead after upgrading to pie. So, apparently the only way for me and to others who are facing the similar issue is to wait until someone releases Binary 6 combination firmware for SM-G950FD.
Good news: It's easy to get your phone running if your bootloader is not upgraded to binary 6. Cuz, Binary 5 firmwares and combination files are available out there and they are 100% working unless your MB is dead.
Note: I have flashed following stock firmwares successfully through ODIN [INS-G950FXXU6DSK9-20191231094010 and INS-G950FXXS6DTA1-20200120123810] yet no luck. Can't boot the OS. Tried to root the phone, cant able to flash the custom recovery. Nothing just works.
Someone, please tag me if ever finds U6 combination file. That's the only hope to bring back my phone to life.
as the title says i was abke to successfully frp bypass this verizon s7 that was giving to me by a friend. i included ba screenshot of its current info to help find my answer. it is on 7.0 and everything else is listed in the pic. i just dont wanna get relocked or even have to do it again cause i feel strongly that i lucked out on that try tbh. and i dont know if i should upgrade and root, stay where im at i think ull understand what im asking. thanks to anyone that has any input.
EDIT///throwing the edit just in case this post somehow helps someone in the future the answer to the question asked above is yes you can. A lot of weird shifts going to happen different than the directions given in the Rom dev thread and your face lots of froot loops and we are shutdowns but eventually you'll have root and or the custom rom from the rom thread.

I’m trying to put a custom rom on a g950u s8, and some sites tell me that a safestrap is the only way to go about this, and others say TWRP will work. The real question is though, I’m trying to get an AOSP rom on it and have no idea how to go about it. I’m used to having xiaomi phones where all I needed to do was unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, then flash zip. If not possible, is there any way to convert g950u version to G950f? Thanks, and sorry for the stupid questions!

You cannot convert it to a 950f. The bootloader on a U model is locked. You can root it. And you can install safestrap you can run one of the modified stock ROMs we have and flash certain zips like viper4 Android. No magisk. No Los AOSP cr no custom roms

I've got an old Idol 5S. I lent it to someone, and now it seems to have a Factory Reset Protection FRP on it. I've checked in with that person I lent it to, and they couldn't figure it out at all. So, I'm wondering if rooting it will get around this issue.
Which leads me to: where are all the threads for an Idol 5S? There seems to be nothing anywhere on how to do this!
