i wanted my phone to be a permanant music player but it freezes in transition to going idle and waking up really annoys me. Does this happen to anyone else? Happens on stock clock.....overclocked....setcpu profile set to performance.
Any help?
Now that would be annoying!! But got no music on my phone so cant test for you.
Have you tried any other music players? I hear Winamp is good, give it a bash.
The only time I've encountered that is when I was streaming something on my phone using the stock mp3 player. Anything offline works perfectly fine.

G2 or Desire Z? I have the Z, and using the stock HTC music player, music playback does not stop when turning the screen off/on. Overclocked to 1 GHz. SetCPU also, have played around with On Demand and Performance governers, screenoff profiles. Have never had an issue of the music stopping while turning the screen off/on.
He shouldn't need to overclock his phone to play music, guys. It's more probable that a "screen off" profile in SetCPU or CPU Tuner are causing this. Although it could very well be something else. I'd be irritated as hell by that!
Maybe he's streaming over WiFi? If the WiFi is set to turn off when the display goes off, maybe that would cut off the music stream (assuming the player doesn't automatically restart the stream over the data connection). No clue though. I definitely haven't seen this problem with music stored on my sdcard...
No guys i am not streaming at all. ill tried turning off set cpu profiles on screen off. Still no luck. ill try a different music player.

Nobody ever said he did (need to overclock to play music).
I was simply stating that how I have my phone setup is similar to his, and have no issue with the music freezing. I've tried screen-off profiles in both SetCPU and CPU Tuner, with absolutely no issues with the music player.
installed winamp and all is good. I was using the new unofficial android music player that everybody likes but i guess thats why it is not offical it still has some bugs.
Have noticed Music keeps stopping after a track or 2 when i have phone in pocket with display off. Some threads say is down to a task killer, but I dont have one of those, I have autokiller but I understand that shouldnt stop apps like music and doesnt have an exclude list, could it be the stock task manager (there doesnt seem to be an exclude list there either?). The only other thing I have installed recently is juicedefender, could that be doing it.
Any hints or tips, not found a solution using search yet.
I'm having the same issue with Spotify and Google Listen. I thought it was because of my headphones as they're on the way out but I guess not.
I only used the music player for the first time today and I have exactly the same thing happening. I can even hear the phone start up music so I think the player is causing the phone to reboot.
KE7 seems to have a bug with the music player causing it to soft reboot. A hard reset doesn't fix it. You can try PowerAmp for now as a replacement. Been using for a day or so and it is pretty awesome.
Ah ok, hopefully samsung will fix it soon then

I am noticing the same issue with the default music player, double twist, spotify, google listen and powerAMP.
I don't have any task killer apps which are set to automatically kill running apps.
I do have juice defender but all that should do is shut down the data connections, this surly should not affect playback.
Its quite annoying so I hope it gets fixed soon.
I have the same issue, has anyone found a cure? Doesn't matter what I am using IE radio, music or listen it just stops randomly.
I had the issue previously but think it was down to motion settings as since I disabled motion it has not happened (flip phone to mute sounds)
Hope this helps

My motion wasn't activated, but that seems to be the general answer, turn of motion.
Hey gang, new TF owner here. I want to play an MP3 in Winamp and surf the net at the same time. How come every time I go to switch applications (by leaving Winamp running, I just hit the home button to start a new app) - the music stops playing.
I'm a little disappointed that I haven't figured out how to do this yet. Anyone have this figured out?
I don't know about WinAMP, but I use the Google Music app and the music doesn't stop when switching apps.
Winamp also plays music in the background, regardless of app switching. Even continues playback even while the screen is turned off, if I recall.
Mine doesn't stop or exit music keeps playing and a notification is added to the bar.
I can confirm on my tablet, Winamp does not keep playing when I switch apps. If it matters, I am using the headset port. Maybe I'll try it without the headset and see if it does.
Maybe the headset port shuts off when the screen goes into sleep mode.
Ok yes, when I am NOT using the headset port, apps play in the background. However, when I use the headset port, the music shuts off when the app is switched (and also when the screen goes into sleep mode).
What's up with that?
I haven't tried Winamp specifically, but every other music app plays in the background no problem with or without headphones plugged in. Music, TuneIn Radio, and iHeartRadio are three that come immediately to mind.
I just download Winamp so I can test and WITH headphone I can multitask and listen to music just fine.
Music still play when screen shut off also.
My built in music player is the same way.
So I'm running the Indian Marshmallow 6.0 Rom stock rooted.
Used it for over a month then about 2-3 weeks ago whenever I would plug in headphones to listen music via Google Play Music and now Black Player EX when I'd start a song and switch screen off after a couple of seconds there would be a period where the music skips for a second every other second for about 5-10 seconds then either continues playing as normal or completely stops playing then I have to take phone out of pocket turn screen back on and press play again for it to comtinue playing. I've got Viper for Android installed and working in compatibility mode, I had the same issue with Google Play Player and Black Player EX, I also have an option in Black Player EX enabled called persistant service "Black player will try to stay alive as long as possible and not auto shutdown". I have disabled Moto Display as I thought It could be linked to that, I have excluded Black Player EX and Viper for Android from Dose feature under Battery Settings... Ive checked using Faux Clock minimum Cpu 384000 and Max 1440000 stock kernel interactive cpu governor and no other settings changed...Don't use greenify...stock kernel... have run out of ideas I don't know how to identify what's causing the issue...
I also have Selinux changer app and kernel set to permissive for viper to work..
Haven't installed xposed yet so it can't be anything xposed related...
Can anybody walk me through creating log cat, maybe can then read it and tell what's causing this as it's driving me crazy.
Please help
Like the title says, when I have Whatsapp open on the foreground audio messages play normally; if I start to play a message and switch apps or even just go to the home screen, the audio stutters heavily and sometimes even makes cackling noises. I noticed that if I reboot the phone and immediately play Whatsapp audio on background I can get about a minute of stutter-free audio, and then it starts stuttering again. This doesn't happen with other apps, just Whatsapp.
I tried to reboot, start the audio and immediately switch to CPU-Z to try and see what's going on; I noticed is that just after reboot CPU usage hovers around 50%, and during that period the audio doesn't stutter; then CPU usage starts to fall, when it reaches like 15% the stutter begins. If I put some other app to play audio on the background, e.g. Google Play Music, I notice that CPU usage increases from idle, whereas while playing Whatsapp audio on the background CPU usage barely changes.
Conclusion: it seems that Whatsapp is being somehow throttled CPU wise while on the background.
Does anyone else has the same problem? Any clue as to how to fix it? I already tried to remove Whatsapp from the list of apps for which battery saving is allowed; nothing changed.
Thanks.
Same for me on every phone
I have the same issue on all devices, I upgraded from a pixel xl to s8+, I have the stutter issue. I need to test if an older version of whatsapp has this problem.
