If I want to make this rom for my tablet, how to start with?

friend has a galaxy 10.1 wifi tab. No 3g service or carrier. What can you recommend for a Rom that is stable without many issues if any?
Can he flash a Rom that is made for sprint or verizon? Also, will the custom Roms for the galaxy 7 inch work?
I'm coming from thunderbolt world, so i know nothing about samsung or tabs.
thanks
The 10.1 has its own forum:

And, no. The ROMs for the 7" will decidedly not work with the 10.1 unless you just want to brick your device.
After going through many tablets and what not... I decided to go ahead and get the galaxy tab 7.7 P6810 wifi version. I was opted to get the p6800 but I don't think I could carry that around all the time so I will just tether it when I need it to my galaxy note.
I ended up selling my htc evo view, then my asus transformer prime, and now I'm returning my ipad 3. (I really couldn't tell the difference between ipad 2 and ipad 3.. I mean some apps and text was more clear but overall general use, it was the same.)
my tab 7.7 should be here today... what to do first.
So.. is p6810 same as p6800 without the 3g radio? As far as firmware and custom roms go... can you use either or? Or do you have to only used dedicated software for each device?
Firmware is NOT compatable between the two models, except for the a custom cwm recovery thats been ported over you'll find here.
Double check before flashing making sure you have the correct firmware for your model, or else you could be soft or worst case hard bricked.
Im using noob rom and works nicely, had cooked up my own but was having a few issues on implementing sone mods, so happy with this rom until ICS, whenever that comes......

Hi,
Could anyone explain why we don't yet have an AOSP ROM for the Note?
I'm looking forward to getting rid of TouchWiz and I'm curious what the challenges are that prevent developers from just compiling the AOSP code to run on the Note 4.
I'm coming from a lot of Nexus devices so I'm not familiar with the roadblocks in developing ROMs for Samsung devices.
You know only samsung can make feature for s pen and other stuff. If this is a normal phone, that would be easy to make a AOSP rom lollipop like my old galaxy tab 10.1 with 3 year old.
But, this is note with only samsung can create stuff for us. So keep calm and wait

I'm not particularly interested in using the S-Pen or all the other Samsung stuff, I just want a replacement for my Nexus 4 that has better specs. All that other stuff can come later or not at all really.
Thanks Batfink33 for the good news, really looking forward to some AOSP or CM goodness
Hi you all,
The official Android 10 update has just come out for Note 9s in America, so I figure that it's time to think out replacing my Android Pie devices. My Note 8 (SM-N950U) has a cracked screen, so I'm thinking about getting a new phone (I'm interested in the Galaxy Fold.) However, I just saw that a custom ROM has come out for N950F. Therefore, I might just hold on to this phone, fix the screen and wait for a custom ROM for my N950U. Furthermore, I really want the latest software for all my devices, but I don't want to just spend a lot of money and buy another tablet because my Tab S3 is still in perfect condition. Should I hold on to my Tab S3 and wait for a future Android 10 custom ROM? Thanks.
Best regards,
Steve
Howdy wonderful people
I may get the chance to get a Galaxy Tab S2 with 10" screen and planning to use it with a stable custom ROM.
Which one would you suggest to have in a long term? My purpose is also to have a clean ROM with basic features, no need to getup to android 11, you know, like some sort of compromise
