"Service Unavailable - Software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later."
I swear every phone I've had, at one point or another, gets this message when I try to update. Nothing fixes it, I've tried it all. Only way I've gotten 93% of updates since my Eris is manually installing. In fact I think my first XDA post was how to resolve this, and I just had to do it myself.
So I found the stock KK ROM and, once again, will use Odin to install it and re-root, but why does this always happen? A few times, whatever. Almost all the time, thank God for XDA. Every time....ok what's going on? I backup and FDR before every update to be sure it's as clean as possible.
I've always rooted, but otherwise don't do anything. Is this just me? Does this happen a lot to other people? Is it purely coincidence? I can't find hardly any threads about it for the Note 3...
Basically....WTH?!?!
Last I checked, OTA isn't supposed to work when you're rooted...

The thing with that is I have gotten OTA's when rooted, even ones that removed root. That may have been a phone or two ago though. But the majority of the time I get this. I just don't get it, does everyone else with root only install updates manually? Maybe I should try one of those apps that temporarily unroots so you can install an update...

OTA is not working when phone is rooted, unroot your phone and try to update.

These days, Root = No OTA.
The old method was : Enable survival mode in SuperSU (Pro needed) --> Disable Superuser --> Reboot --> Install OTA --> Reboot --> Re-enable Superuser --> Disable survivor mode.
Not sure if it still works though.
First off, sorry about the uninspiring title
Now that that's out of the way, here's the problem.
Have got the latest update for the Edge and it was around 70+ mb (version details in the title).
After the update the "Storage" option within "Smart Manager" throws up the error: "Unfortunately, SmartManager Clean SDK has stopped." (Screenshot attached)
This happens every time it is run, even after a fresh reboot. But doesn't happen in case the cache of the app is cleared. But this only helps for one run. By the time the app is run again, same error.
Anyone else facing the same issue? If yes, found any workarounds? Also, how do I get this info to Samsung? Can't find an official forum that I can post this, so that they get it fixed.
Help appreciated in advance :fingers-crossed::highfive:
Ever tried resetting the device? Or wiping cache in recovery?
Working fine over here

Just had a look: NO problems here...
Which font are you using on your S7Edge?
Is your device "rooted"? Have you "disabled" any apps?
@JohnLouise: Mine's not rooted... yet.. Also don't want to reset, which would mean setting up the device from scratch, time consuming, would like to avoid.
I clean the Storage time and again, a habit that I believe is good in the long run. I had done it an hour before the update and it worked without issues. No new apps were installed after that, which would point the fingers squarely at the update being the culprit.
@henklbr: No system apps disabled, although i have disabled all microsoft provided apps (but that shouldn't cause the issue). Also, its the Rosemary font. You can find it in Settings>Display>Font
FYI, I use the small version of the font.
Well, guess I have no other choice but to wait for the next update, or someone who has a solution to this, and hope its fixed, or my phone to go bonkers out of the blue, in which case i'll have to reset.

Wiping cache in samsung recovery mode? U don't need to be rooted on that. Maybe the update causes issues and wiping cache and dalvik will resolve the problem.
I'm having the same problem since the last update, and I'm not rooted either.
Same here. Even after factory reset and clear cache. Now disabled the service, no error notification anymore. but still. It's not usable anymore
any news? im having the same problem here

No problems here.
Rooted and on latest
(Allthough the latest Update, i installed from Fresh (Complete wipe and reinstalled everything)
I thought to myself a 5th dirty update is pushing it abit.
All working fine here:
Same here, although I have non edge version on stock ROM. Nothing helped, so far. Hope next update will fix it.

Same problem here. Haven't resettled or anything
Same Problem here after June update (German T-Mobile branding).
Tried several times wiping Cashe of everything that has something to do with Clean Master SDK, or Smart Manager.
Did not help.
Today, i tried Factory Reset.
Did not help.
Imediately after that... i downloaded the latest Firmware with SamFirm.
Flashed it via ODIN.
Did not help.....
What the actual ****.
This is annoying as hell tbh. Especially, since over time, a lot "trash" sums up >_>
My only Workaround now is, downloading the Cleanmaster App, and delete "trash" with that, and deinstall the app again because it sucks balls and is annoying.

Yes, this is a problem with SD card. I had same problem. Factory reset didn't help.
I tried clean my SD card from old and some corrupted files and now it works just fine.

Late reply but:
i'm on November Patch level right now, and... Clean Master out of the Samsung Smart Manager.... works. everytime.
i never removed my sd card or anything. it just suddenly works ^^
don't ask me why. maybe a firmware issue, and now it's gone.
But i'll reflash with Odin 100% fresh as soon nougat is out!

Happen to grab any screen shots of the error? Never heard of, nor seen this one. I only use internal, I have a 64gb sd-card laying around, I just don't need the space. Sorry to hear of this error, hopefully can figure out what it is.
i was also getting a titanium backup error FC also when this was happening, so i uninstalled TB and have rebooted a few times and no more white box internal problem error. It kept my apps installed and some settings but lost some minor settings. Strange that TB could of caused that. I really didnt want to have to factory reset.I know i should of taken a screenshot. I was panicking...lol.
I just reverted to T-Mobile firmware so I could upgrade to 7.0, since then I've noticed some issues.
I can't use my photos to change my wallpaper, or for the AID.
I can't go to the settings for the camera.
I've had some screen freezing when trying to change the notifications.
Has anyone else had similar issues, or are there other problems I should look out for?

My wife's phone is stock and I took the OTA for 7.0. I checked the camera settings and they are fine.
I'm wondering if you might need to flash the update again. If you do, you should wipe davlik and cache to make sure nothing got left behind.

I'd hate to do everything over again. I can't imagine how I screwed up either. I ODINed the T-Mobile files, and when the phone restarted, it updated to 7.0 automatically.

When I checked smart switch, it didn't have an upgrade listed. But the phone did. This tells me that it was a TMO update. Since you flashed tmo files, I'm assuming the ones listed in T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion, it should have taken. OTA is considered a dirty flash in that it doesn't wipe everything. Flashing with odin wipes everything. I'm just wondering if it didn't wipe everything the way it should.
The other possibility is after you updated, you loaded something that nougat doesn't like. If you do reflash, once it is done, do the bare minimum setup. Then try the items you listed that were a problem. If everything works ok, then you know it is something that got installed after the update. During the initial setup process, I never allow it to restore from another device, or samsung account. I get it setup as a new phone and then reboot. See how everything is working, then use smart switch to restore. If anything is missing, I go to the play store and download. Yes, it's a pain, but I've never had any issues.

I should have asked, have you rebooted since the update? There were some things like wifi calling and video calling that were missing after the OTA update. On reboot, it was all back. Try a reboot first. If things still aren't working, reflash.
If you previously backed up your apps and docs and images, etc., with smart switch before the update, then use that one when you restore.
Be sure though that after you do the odin flash, do a minimal setup. Then reboot. Then check everything out. If it is all good, do the restore from smart switch.
Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

Will do, thank you.
The keyboard is what has me the most annoyed, it is not as good as it was in Marshmallow. I have the Auto Predictive text Auto replace languages English, and Spanish. Back on Marshmallow, there was no need to switch between languages, you just had to type in either one, and the keyboard itself would switch automatically. And on Nougat, that doesn't happen anymore. I loved that feature on MM. Does anyone else have that problem? is there a way to install the MM Samsung keyboard on Nougat? or is there a solution?

Awesome!
Seriously all I'm waiting for is the Note 8
Should have posted this here... (oh well)
Has anyone else with generic quick charge 2.0 car chargers notice they are not "quick charging" anymore since the nougat upgrade?
I've got a couple of generic ones from ebay in my cars and they worked on the S7E using MM and still work on the note 4. But on the S7E after N7.0 update they aren't quick charging, they are just charging. (does that make sense?)
I have rooted my phone and installed Titanium Backup. What processes do I need to freeze to prevent OTA updates from automatically downloading and installing? I tried the usually keywords, but it seems like the only process that might be an updater is ConfigUpdater. Is that all I need to freeze? Thanks.

I don't think it will automatically download, but you're always going to have the notification telling you an update is available.
So far I've found an option called "Automatic System Updates" in Developer Options, I have turned that off. I guess there's no way to block it from checking for new updates?
I think I've figured out what to block to prevent the update from downloading. I use AdAware to log the DNS requests when the phone is trying to download an update. There where a few URLs, but the one needs to be blocked seems to be redirector.gvt1.com. After blocking this url the OTA update download will pause itself (probably because it can't reach the server). I don't know what other Google services it'll affect, but I've tried downloading an app from Play Store and searching for an address in Google Map, they still work. So I'm going to block that URL for now. I can always temporarily unblock it for certain app updates if they need that redirector url.
Same Problem here
I have a Rooted Lenovo Yoga Tab YT3-850M running Android version 6.0.1, and I am struggling with this same issue. I used TWRP and Magisk.
Even if I enable Developer Options, there is no option to turn off Automatic Updates.
And it keeps downloading and installing the OTA System Updates. It fails to install, but keeps on doing it again and again.
I don't know how to stop it. The only thing is I disabled it from doing the Update over Mobile Data, and I switched off the Wifi to get some relief.
And am now hunting online for some method to either install the OTA, and go back to Root (or) to Disable OTA Updates permanently...

The solution is even simpler:
There won't be any more monthly QTA updates for this phone anyway, as the company behind the phone went bankrupt and stopped doing updates since February 2020...

Yeah, we knew that, but many people don't use Feb because TWRP doesn't work well with it, so they rolled back to Jan, and that's why the OTA kicks in.

I did the same exact thing 4 times in a row and it is now persistent through reboots. Try number 2 caused magisk to claim no root after reboot. Very weird.
My wife has the same phone and the exact same setup, it took 3 tries to make hers work. Her phone never lost root.
Neither phone is prompting for updates. Very cool! This is a step in the right direction.
Both phones do show the update available notification icon on the right side of the notch. Should this go away as well? I tried multiple cache/dalvik wipes to no avail.
Thanks,
JD
