lg g6 as993 really a ls993? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Every time i check my phone's imei online it says it is an LS993 but the model number in my phone's info is AS993. I bought it about a half a year ago online. Is it possible that someone could have bought an LS993 and flashed the AS993 rom onto it? Is there any way to reverse this and get back the old LS993 rom?

Did you try using the LG software program to update ? LG Bridge, if that doesn't work use LG Up and force the update.

I bought it used, I ended up returning the phone to the seller and getting a refund. I contacted LG yesterday via email and they responded (surprisingly quickly) that my phone was indeed a sprint variant LS993 and that the fact that a software that wasnt intended for my phone model was installed, that may have caused the phone to not be able to receive any updates from sprint. i think the reason why it was flashed with H873 was to be able to unlock the device.
Thanks for all your Help. nash211 and Montechristo

Frankenstein build of lg g6 !

I've bought a used LG g6 H873 that's stuck on nougut.
this g6 is supposed to be a Canadian version so i was thinking what firmware i download as my phone is bloat free with no randon apps but just lg.
all firmware i find were named as rogers, etc so i tried lg software but that didn't recognize my phone.
than i tried to search with IMEI and it came as an sprint variant. now have tried multiple site's with IMEI and all says i have ls sprint variant... confused and worried what will happen if i go and flash h873 Canadian Oreo, because there's no ls sprint firmware to be found anywhere to roll back.
Use LG Up find the version you need should work for you.

as I've already said, "i have tried lg software" it didn't recognized my phone.
Then possibly it is the drivers you have installed need to be changed. Try changing those.

Your phone probably had a blacklisted IMEI, and so the person your bought it from took the IMEI from a Sprint G6 and slapped it on.
LG Update uses the IMEI along with various other information to determine what version it should apply. Since it doesn't recognize your phone, that makes sense, as there will be mismatches.
Even if it was a Sprint phone, you are safe flashing H873 firmware (all G6s can cross flash except the H872)

thanks Brian, i actually found the culprit, apparently this phone is not Frankenstein but a normal sprint phone that was flashed to a non branded Canadian firmware.
so i went ahead and just flashed the 8.0 of Canadian G6 GSM firmware and it went fine without issues and now i'm on Oreo.

can i change convert lg g6 from H873 TO H870DS firmware?to use 2 sim instead of 1?

can i change convert lg G6 from H873 TO H870DS firmware?
so i can use the second sim slot card?
the hardware is in the phone i can see second sim pins inside the phone
also my imei say it is G6 VS988 not H873 why?witch one is right phone or imei?
don't mean to hijack your thread, but I'd also like to know if the VS988 or HD870 pie rom can be installed on the US997. the "unlocked" universal version hasn't seen any updates in a year! I think I'd rather be running the verizon version at this point.

EU box but h873 model, no S/N

I've just picked up a LG G6 that was in a new box, shrink wrapped.
Checked the IMEI and it was ok.
Then when it refused to update, I noticed that the S/N field in the phone hardware info is blank.
Model is reported as LG-H873 but the box is labeled "for EU only".
Phone works fine, can make calls too with my own sim card from another phone.
What should I do?
Thanks
Upon further investigation, according to the imei number, the actual model of the phone is Model:LGVS988T which is a Verizon phone.
For some reason it's in Canada and flashed with H873 Canadian firmware.
Am I able to update it to the latest 8.x firmware and still keep it working fine in Canada?
Thanks

Claro PR to H873

Imei-guru
My phone shows the model lg G6 h873. But when I checked it's IMEI number online at imei-guru, they said that it's the IMEI of lg g6 h872pr
What's the matter...?
I read a blog on xda about converting your claro PR to h873 and they said once you're converted to h873 you can't revert back it to claro.
But there's a difference between their 4g bands. My network carrier's 4g internet do not runs at high speed but only at 5 to 600 kbps. Can I revert back my phones firmware (h873 pie 9) to claro PR 9.0 pie...
I bought it in used from eBay type market

I have exactly the same phone, and yeah bought it new/sealed & "unlocked" from ebay. (IMEI guru says it's a H872PR, but the phone claims it is an H873.) I found a thread that said it was "switched" to H873 as part of the unlocking process. Not really clear on that as the box was sealed, presumably from LG. Who knows?
I found H872PR drivers on the lg-firmwares site. (New poster, can't post links.)
Presumably you could use LGUP to flash back to those. I have not done this, so use at your own risk.
