I've just picked up a LG G6 that was in a new box, shrink wrapped.
Checked the IMEI and it was ok.
Then when it refused to update, I noticed that the S/N field in the phone hardware info is blank.
Model is reported as LG-H873 but the box is labeled "for EU only".
Phone works fine, can make calls too with my own sim card from another phone.
What should I do?
Thanks
Upon further investigation, according to the imei number, the actual model of the phone is Model:LGVS988T which is a Verizon phone.
For some reason it's in Canada and flashed with H873 Canadian firmware.
Am I able to update it to the latest 8.x firmware and still keep it working fine in Canada?
Thanks

I've bought a used LG g6 H873 that's stuck on nougut.
this g6 is supposed to be a Canadian version so i was thinking what firmware i download as my phone is bloat free with no randon apps but just lg.
all firmware i find were named as rogers, etc so i tried lg software but that didn't recognize my phone.
than i tried to search with IMEI and it came as an sprint variant. now have tried multiple site's with IMEI and all says i have ls sprint variant... confused and worried what will happen if i go and flash h873 Canadian Oreo, because there's no ls sprint firmware to be found anywhere to roll back.
Use LG Up find the version you need should work for you.

as I've already said, "i have tried lg software" it didn't recognized my phone.
Then possibly it is the drivers you have installed need to be changed. Try changing those.

Your phone probably had a blacklisted IMEI, and so the person your bought it from took the IMEI from a Sprint G6 and slapped it on.
LG Update uses the IMEI along with various other information to determine what version it should apply. Since it doesn't recognize your phone, that makes sense, as there will be mismatches.
Even if it was a Sprint phone, you are safe flashing H873 firmware (all G6s can cross flash except the H872)

thanks Brian, i actually found the culprit, apparently this phone is not Frankenstein but a normal sprint phone that was flashed to a non branded Canadian firmware.
so i went ahead and just flashed the 8.0 of Canadian G6 GSM firmware and it went fine without issues and now i'm on Oreo.
Every time i check my phone's imei online it says it is an LS993 but the model number in my phone's info is AS993. I bought it about a half a year ago online. Is it possible that someone could have bought an LS993 and flashed the AS993 rom onto it? Is there any way to reverse this and get back the old LS993 rom?
I'm finding a lot of the T-Mobile variant of this device for sale when I do a search. My question is it locked to T-Mobile or can I use it on AT&T
Edit: disregard I found my answer ?
Last week, I bought a oneplus 6t dual sim version from Amazon, the seller said that this is factory unlocked version, but I realized last Saturday that it is converted from T-mo to international one and it brought up the gpay issue and the same IMEI number for two SIMs. So, I contacted to the seller, and refunding process started, but at this moment, I am a little bit hesitated to do that because actual operations what I want are ok. so, I have to keep a little bit more and then I will make a decision, but no issues to use the phone on AT&T network. I am an AT&T pre-paid user. And automatically the VoLTE is active and call, text, and data are ok. Netflix , MaDonald are OK. Just Gpay got face the issue many people have faced now
ah. at first, the device had 9.0.11 version installed, so, I tried to upgrade to 10.3.9 directly through the 'local upgrade' menu, but failed.
so, I upgraded to 9.0.13 first and then local upgrade was ok to upgrade to 10.3.9 directly without any issue. And 10.3.9 installed successfully, the OTA to 10.3.10 is appeared on the screen, and it also works well. so, now 10.3.10.
and even though the same IMEI for two SIM tray got showed, but the phone detects both SIMs and showed they are active.
So, it seems ok. so, because of this reason, I am now hesitated to return this.
Yesterday, I moved to 8G/256G unlocked dual-sim version with different IMEI number and confirmed that the gpay works well under OSS10.3.10

I have a done the change to International from emob and have dual sim, one number, is it safe to use both sims?
Imei-guru
My phone shows the model lg G6 h873. But when I checked it's IMEI number online at imei-guru, they said that it's the IMEI of lg g6 h872pr
What's the matter...?
I read a blog on xda about converting your claro PR to h873 and they said once you're converted to h873 you can't revert back it to claro.
But there's a difference between their 4g bands. My network carrier's 4g internet do not runs at high speed but only at 5 to 600 kbps. Can I revert back my phones firmware (h873 pie 9) to claro PR 9.0 pie...
I bought it in used from eBay type market

I have exactly the same phone, and yeah bought it new/sealed & "unlocked" from ebay. (IMEI guru says it's a H872PR, but the phone claims it is an H873.) I found a thread that said it was "switched" to H873 as part of the unlocking process. Not really clear on that as the box was sealed, presumably from LG. Who knows?
I found H872PR drivers on the lg-firmwares site. (New poster, can't post links.)
Presumably you could use LGUP to flash back to those. I have not done this, so use at your own risk.

I just got a question, i flashed unlocked firmware on my Verizon S10+and i have a AT&T sim. under the software information in settings, i see if i check the Service provider SW ver it shows ATT/ATT/VZW, is that normal or is it supposed to show up XAA/XAA/VZW? if it is not normal how would i be able to fix this?
I would say it doesn't matter as long as your phone is working as it should.
