hey there.
so short version.
i got a sprint s7, apparently it was not carrier unlocked when i got it. sprint says they will only unlock it if it's on an active service in good standing which i dont plan on getting on sprint at all. so i need a trusted place to get the unlock codes for it please, the cheaper the better because of my situation.
longer version.
my dad has early onset dementia so we had to take his phone from him and close his account. it's been a while and i found his S7 sitting there not doing anything and i need a new phone to put on my Verizon prepaid plan so after looking on the s7 the hardware is all the same just the firmware blocks out whichever bands each carrier chooses. so i need to go tomorrow and get one of Verizon sims to be ready so when i get the unlock code i can put it in right away and make sure i dont receive that sim error. or do i need to flash to the verizion firmware before i try to carrier unlock it?
any and all help is really appreciated as our family is really struggling atm and not having to purchase a new phone would save us alot of money.
p.s. device info is sm-g930p
baseband g930pvps4bqc1
android version 7
Here's a link to the remote unlocking service I used to have my 930P unlocked: https://www.gsmzambia.com/product/samsung-sprint/
You'll have to install Teamviewer and let them remotely control your PC to perform the unlock. I found them to be very reputable and helpful before, during and after the sale.
After unlocking, I'd recommend using Odin (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591023225177749) to flash the "U" firmware: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=52EF42AE925C11E7963AFA163EE8F90B
With U firmware, you won't have any of the Sprint bloatware that came preloaded on the phone, and it'll automatically detect and apply the proper settings for whichever SIM card you insert. If you don't want to flash alternate firmware, you can stick with what's already on the phone; you'll just have to manually enter the Verizon APN settings.
So I ordered my S7 Edge online through eBay (I know I know) anyways the model is shown as SM-G935V on the backdoor of the phone along with the Verizon logo, but when I got Phone Info in settings it shows SM-G935U. I activated it on AT&Ts network just to make sure it's unlocked. My questions are what kind of unlocking process would change the phone's software from 35V to 35U? Is it possible that the company flashed the unlocked model over the phone's software if so how do I check if it's ever been rooted or had anything flashed on it? I want to take the phone to Boost but I'm not sure just HOW unlocked it is & if it will work on a CDMA network other than Verizon. Assuming that it's been fully unlocked it should Right?
I can tell you that it's a Verizon phone originally (which is by unlocked anyways) all they did is flash the U firmware on it (like i did with mine) which is good thing bc it gets rid of all the Verizon bloat. Bt anyways your phone should be unlocked for use on any network
I just bought a used FULLY UNLOCKED S8 (model SM-G950U1) and it is still on 7.0. I have a Cricket SIM in it and it is working fine on network. However I am unable to get it to find a software update although I think 8.0 has been OTA already right?
So my question is, which version of the 8.0 software should I use to flash it and keep it on the basic Unlocked version and not carrier-specific? I don't need to see a boot screen with Cricket or whatever. In the lists on SAMMOBILE I see "AT&T" and other carriers and then a bunch of "UNKNOWN" and it looks like many of them have the same codes. So which one to choose is the "SAMSUNG UNLOCKED" version?
Also can I flash a version that will update and keep all my data rather than doing a full wipe, like I would get if I got an OTA? I know I can always re-do everything I set up but would prefer not to if possible.
Thank you
You'll wanna use the AIO version for cricket. I made a thread for the cricket version in the guides section with everything you Need and working volte(no Wi-Fi calling though). It's at CRE2 firmware right now.
That's the firmware

There ya go
Hey Everybody,
So I've come to realize that my unlocked US S10+ on AT&T didn't have VOLTE or Wifi calling as options in the communication/call settings menus. this is pretty disappointing as it seems that using the unlocked phone with Verizon you get these features, and they make a decent impact on my use of the phone.
My understanding is if I flash the ATT firmware to the phone I would get the functions, so being an amateur I followed some simple guides to SamFirm AND ODIN, and downloaded the ATT CSC firmware for my model number. However after going through the Odin process and resetting my phone it is still showing the same Software information as prior to my installation, and I do not have the features.
I saw a thread on the board stating that the ATT firmware isn't available yet, so I'm not sure if what I downloaded was actually any different than what is on my phone, and my phones "Service Provider Software Version" did already have ATT in the description, which is a bit confusing to me.
Am I correct in understanding the only way to get the features would be through a firmware flash? And would anyone know if I had flashed the right firmware, and what the original firmware CSC would be for my model if I needed to revert?
My information is:
Model Number:
SM-G975U1 (S10+ ceramic white 512GB - Unlocked US)
Service Provider SW ver.:

If it's anything like the S9 was, you can't just ODIN the firmware/CSC. You'll just get the bloat with none of the features you want.

I've heard this as well. If you want those features on a Samsung phone, it has to be at&t branded. I ordered an at&t phone from Samsung since I make good use of wifi calling. It works fine on my unlocked P3XL but no dice on the Samsungs.
I have the same phone and service and when I went to update my imei they told me it could not find the phone. So I was without lte/4g for a day until I gave them a imei to a s8 active. Now I have data at least

So I have the same service provider software, on my unlocked s10+, however when I went into an ATT store and looked at a branded S10+
I noticed the service provider software version to be : SOAMC_SM-G975U1_OYM_ATT_PP_0033( thirty three at end),
so anyway to update the service provider version? does that come from the SIM ??
I have an unlocked S10 plus and I flashed the AT&T Firmware. I now have VoLTE and WiFi calling unlocked on my phone using AT&T. You need to make sure you flash the U version of the firmware, not the U1 one. Unlocked S10 is using the U1 firmware already so flashing that one again changes nothing.

Where did you get the att firmware?

I kinda doubt it but did any of you with unlocked phones that flashed the AT&T firmware get any better service? I've been considering it to get VOLTE but just wondered

I followed this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/how-to/att-ota-ota-updates-t3909697
At first like you I downloaded the wrong version and nothing changed. I finally flashed G975USQU1ASBA and now have VOLTE/WIFI Calling and of course all of the bloat. But at least those two functions are working. Make sure that you complete a clean flash when I did a dirty flash I had problems sticking on the loading screen.
I believe you just need to call in ATT to take care those carrier specific features .
Which firmware can I flash with Odin to my S10+ Xfinity Mobile unlocked to get AT&T OTA updates? Currently have ASF7 flashed from the latest unknown firmware uploaded to Sammobile. I flashed w/o USERDATA. I just want to be able to get future OTA updates as I just switched my carrier from Metro by T-Mobile to AT&T. I was using U1 US unlocked firmwares on my Note9 & S10+ but want to use carrier perks now with AT&T.
What's with AT&T being the only ones to not release update files? You would think they all would be required to release them. More AT&T customers need kick up a fuss about it.
Hi guys,
Needed your help in understanding how software updates on my S10+, which I initially purchased from AT&T locked paid it off and got it unlocked, will work after I switched to Tmobile. I do get the tmobile splash screen now but under 'Software version' I do see that the service provider version has 'att' in it.
Here are my observations after unlocking and switching to Tmobile so far :
- I now get the tmobile startup splash screen and ringtones
- Default ATT apps gone and now replaced with Tmobile ones
- Previously hidden/disabled apps while on ATT are now accessible on Tmobile like Call & Message continuity, connect to windows
- When I press check for software updates it says 'Tmobile update service: connecting to server ' so it does seem its checking against tmobile server
But I'm still not sure if I will get future updates. Does anyone have a similar experience or information reg this situation pls? Worst case is there any way to flash my phone with tmobile firmware officially? I do not want to void warranty by rooting or side loading. Thanks
The service provider will always show AT&T even if you flash the U1 (carrier free) firmware or T-mobile firmware since the phone originally shipped as an AT&T branded device. That won't stop you from receiving updates.
It sounds like your firmware completely reprovisioned after you switched SIM cards so you should get OTA updates from T-mobile.
When I bought my S10+ the AT&T firmware didn't reprovision so unlocked users needed to flash non-AT&T firmware in order to receive OTA updates.
