I recently dumped my Pixel 3 in a lake (kayak+puppy=bad) and needed a new phone. I spent about a week with a OnePlus7 and it was a great week. It was BY FAR the fastest phone I've ever held in my hand; stock or modified. But ultimately, I liked the size of the Pixel 3 and ended up with a Galaxy S10e.
I'm hoping to accomplish two main things. Speed up the phone and make it more "snappy" and simplify the amount of crap that Samsung has embedded into the device. For example, the Bixby key, can I make it do something else? I just feel like Samsung has the phone trying to do a million things in the background that aren't even remotely helpful. And yes, I disabled/uninstalled as much of the bloatware as I could.
I looked for a quality ROM but it doesn't look like anything is available to be honest.
To make the Bixby button useful use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions
As for the Bloatware, if you don't want to root or use a custom rom and keep the phone as it is, use this to disable ANYTHING you want and can't disable through normal ways And buy the license, you have my word you wont regret doing so

CCSWE is great I have used that for a while now well worth buying licence for it so much can be done with it ..
Question....can I use that to disable things like the stock apps for email, calendar, and browser without harming those functions?? I'm prevented from doing so natively and wasn't sure if Samsung just doesn't allow it or if those apps actually include services that things like Gmail, GCalendar, and Chrome use to run.
Also, I'm not against rooting and using TWRP to install a custom ROM. Lord knows I've done plenty of that in the past (although it's been a few years now). That being said, I didn't see any ROMS that appeared to be worth a damn or were well supported. If I missed a good one please let me know!
Apps can all be hidden and disabled from the settings. No need to install anything else for it. As for the browser, I've been using Samsung internet on my phones for years (even when I had a Huawei P20 Pro) and it's better than Chrome imo, especially with adblocker and Amazon assistant to help with pesky ads and automatically finding prices on Amazon for items I an browsing on sites. Disabling/ hiding Samsung's calendar or email apps won't interfere with any other ones installed like gmail etc.

ALL apps can be hidden yes, but not ALL apps can be disabled.
something that i did which you might have done already if you've seen literally any youtube video on the topic is turning up the animation speed in the developer options. It really does make the phone feel faster.

Nevermind....this doesn't support the US version SM-G97OU1. Really disappointing that no one has ROMS for the US variant.

[QUICKFIX] "My apps" Applications and games owned by this account will appear here
FYI: So after doing research on the internet i finally found a solution to solve that problem that makes some of us SICK!
Anyway here is the fix:
Download marketfixer by kstudio: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kstudio.marketfixer.
Start markerfixer then click on Analyze market links (this will search which apps are conflicting the Google Play) this will take up to 5 minutes.
When the analyzing is done, check "Select All" or tap all manually.
Click "Remove Selected Links".
You will be prompted with a popup that will say somethink like "Install a random app" on the Google Play -> install something
This fix has been posted several times before.
And there's no need at all for the ridiculously large font.

The app is useful that's for sure and does fix the market issues pretty well. Never doubted this. I'm simply stating that according to forum structure, this stays an Android forum post and not an SGS2 specific post... It's not because alot of people only view the SGS2 forums that anyone can post things anywhere. A structure is in place for a reason.
doesn't work for me any other fixes? apart from uninstalling updates and clearing cache because that didn't work also

TiBu only fix missing app links to the Play, marketfixer actually searches for apps that are conflicting the market this feature is not inplemented in TiBu(yet).
I reckon this app should be installed within every new custom rom!! .. would save alot of headaches!!
Thanks a lot dude, i have been facing this problem for a couple of months now and honestly the only solution i found after countless hours of digging and experimenting is to uninstall all my apps then re install them back manually and checking the market after every 2 or 3 installations and i noticed that everytime i install blackmart my google account is screwed and once i uninstall it, it goes back to normal.

And btw...my phone says I used just 10mb mobile traffic.

Any hints?

Samsung Apps on Lollipop ROMS
Anyone know how I can get Samsung Apps, i.e. Fit Manager/S Health, loaded back onto my phone now that I installed a Lollipop ROM? I am pretty sure it has to do with the Model in the build.prop file. It currently says klte. I tried revising it but when I did my phone wouldn't start. I really want to be able to use my Fit but none of the Samsung Apps are working. Any help would be much appreciated.

Loving the ROM. Great work!
Was rocking the Albinoman one, but that one had way too many issues. Dialer not working etc.
Yesterday I installed yours and it works like a charm!
Saw one little thingy, when entering a pincode at boot the numbers displayed on the dial-pad are in random order, changing on every boot. It's not bothering me at all. But it's the only thing I noticed that was wrong.
Maybe a bit of a noob question but, where can I find the changelog on github?
Loving the frequent updates, keep up the good work!
[12/8 build]
What's up with the new dark grey and green colour scheme?
White toasts and backgrounds were so much more .. Lollipop. And easy on the eyes.
At least make it a choice?
By the way. The Superuser menu is illegible because of the change in background colors.
Have found a bug . Seize the standart launcher and when I touch the screen under the wifi or mobile display comes spoke google search . I have the google search in launcher disabled. Can this be fixed ?

Running this on a G900V Dev edition... can't get a wireless signal. Data works great and fast, accessing Verizon 4G LTE network like a champ with 3-4 bars almost everywhere. But no phone and no SMS/MMS. Tried flashing ktoonz 5.0 kernel and that restored phone and SMS receiving, but still can't send SMS or MMS using any app other than Hangouts, which uses data network. Anyone else seeing this issue or have any input? Love this otherwise, but kinda need phone and SMS... TIA!!
with the newest build 09/12 i have no mic when i someone calling me. does anybody have the same problem?
Dec 9 build missing trusted agents functionality
Fusion rom has been working great for me for the last 10 days as my daily driver, but todays built, dec 9th, seems to have lost the trusted agents functionality where you can set a bluetooth device as a trusted agent so that when that bluetooth device is in range, you do not need to use an unlock pin or pattern to unlock you phone, and when that bluetooth device is out of range, you do have to enter your pin/pattern. I have an android wear watch and i was using this functionality and love it in lollipop.
The settings screen for trusted agents is still there but there is no way to add anything to that screen and it lost my previous trusted agents when i dirty flashed it from the Dec 8th build. Setting lives under settings->security->trusted agents
thanks,
Andy

What do you think is the downside of keeping root? Youre right--this is huge. Usb storage is probably the most cited benefit of root by users, but its not the only one.
For me, this news is a good reason to buy another aftv but i wouldnt even think of breaking root...are you contemplating this because youre concerned with something going wrong?

I get your excitement but i already have kodi under recents and yesterday installed akg launcher (no root needed) which puts all my apps in the app section and under recent.
I could see not going through the increasingly tedious process of rooting because of this news, but not losing root intentionally.
Plus, rbox just fully unlocked bootloader, Techvendetta is working on CM and there might be more stuff on the horizon, none of which will be possible without root. On top of that we could see this update in the form of a prerooted firmware.
Its really not my intention to debate, people can do whatever they want but you didnt really answer my question--whats the downside of keeping it rooted?

I'd wait to see if @rbox or @realbbb can provide a custom ROM for this new update. Does not make much sense to kill root on the Fire TV. Then again, I use the SPMC launcher with the Black Glass Nova skin that affords easy access to the Amazon launcher on its home screen. I'd rather it be this way than having to look at that hideous Amazon UI whenever I fire up the Fire TV.

It's fine but thanks for the help lol this thread was supposed to get opinions on the new update lmfao :good::highfive:
Early on I made the decision not to root my AFTV, I'd rather have bug fixes and other improvements, but USB storage has been the one big issue I have. I've just been patiently waiting for Amazon to release an update for USB storage OR a Google Android TV box to come out that meets my requirements. The default UI could be better, having side-loaded apps in the app section would be nice, but ultimately now that we are getting USB storage I have no complaints about my AFTV and will likely stick with AFTV for now and when future versions are released. Such a dumb little thing that should have been included from the start, now I can have all my kids' games installed at once instead of bouncing them back and forth to the cloud. For that matter, not only can I put The Bard's Tale back on I can actually let it install the high-res gfx version and see if it looks any better.
I guess you could say that's my long-winded "there are still reasons to root your AFTV, but not nearly as compelling and probably not worth the effort for most people" answer.

Intentionally lose root after all the hard work? smh.......just wait for a pre-rooted custom rom.....remember once you lose root Amazon has full control on the box, and one of my greatest fears is if they choose to block Kodi.....and "I'm NOT SURE" but isn't there some mechanism in these updates that detect if you have root and bricks the fire tv? My opinion is just wait for a pre-rooted rom
If the new update gives you the ability to use USB storage and play games of the storage, wouldn't the same apply for Kodi? Would it not be possible to put Kodi and run it of the storage\USB device?
Hi all. I have the FireTV stick. I bought it primarily for Amazon Prime, which works great. I'm also using it for Netflix, Kodi, and several others. Everything works great. I use Kodi to play movies stored on my PC. Kodi runs perfectly, but I'm very low on space on my PC.
I'm considering buying the FireTV set top box now that it will be able to use it's USB port for expanded storage. But I'm not 100% sure about whether it still needs to be rooted.
Will I be able to connect an external hard drive for movie playback with Kodi without rooting?
Thanks.
Correct, this latest update (supposedly) allows the use of USB storage without rooting the device.

Im just wondering whether (through package removal) there is a way to basically turn this phone into a google play edition phone running stock android, im fairly new to the android ecosystem so a lot of this is new to me, but i hate bloatware (and having 3 preinstalled apps doing the same thing ) so i want to know if you can rectify this?

I used to use outlook, but it didn't fit my needs.
I eventually, and still use aquamail. Honestly... If you can take a moment to customize this, this will be, look however, and act however you wish. You can customize anything.
That said, idk how it is out of the box, but think it really well anyways. If you want one that doesn't let you customize, or very simple, I don't know which.
But I really do recommend aquamail.
I highly recommend Nine email app.
Works with anything, highly customizable and does not require storing or passing through third party servers.

What are you looking for? Can you describe your preference?
I was on a hunt for really long time after using various options like bluemail, mymail, etc. but finally settled with outlook for below reasons:
1. One has use
2. Quick events
3. Add-ons integration like Evernote, Wunderlist, more.
4. Amazing search results
5. Most important - Focused emails
There is lot more to add or remove but it totally depends on personal preference.
Hope this helps you find the best option you're looking for.
Cheers!
