Im looking to get a cheap ebay usb controller to use for grand theft auto. Has anyone does this yet?

I did it using BT and the sixaxis controller. I made a tutorial here

I knew that was possible but i have many wired controllers and wish they would work (a wireless wiimote or ps3 controller is expensive, when i already have a controller)
Just wanted others to know that this works really well, I tested it a few minutes ago.I believe the wireless ones need power, but the USB wired one doesn't, which is why I bought it a long time ago. I did not test my wireless controllers with my wireless usb dongle, but can if people are interested.
The wireless ones will never work any other way besides wirelessly... the cable only syncs it to the computer/xbox and then proceeds to transmit wirelessly as normal. Good to know the wired ones will work though :good: .
Hi brothers,
Zenfone max pro m1 does not recognise the joystick controller which works with other mobiles. Tried changing the OTG cable yet not working.
Anyone have overcome this issue? Any fix?
Joystick? Do you mean gamepad controller?
I use this Bluetooth gamepad controller and it works for me. Even the wired mouse and wired keyboard connects to my Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.
I also tried using wired Xbox controller and doesn't work
So, better have to choose bluetooth instead of wired. Thanks stonespider
I have same problem
Wired gamepad doesn't get recognized as a peripheral device on the mobile. It won't work.
The gamepad can be connected via Bluetooth and will work 100% on the games that support controllers.
My Zenfone max pro m1 recognises USB drives like thumb drives and a 1TB HDD no problem and also my wireless keyboard mouse combo but it just doesn't seem to recognise my generic wired gamepad, no power when I press the analog switch no red led. I was planning to try out PUBG mobile using gamepad through the Octopus app, unfortunately to my surprise it was not able to detect my device, on the other hand it easily detected my mouse and keyboard and I was able to use them to play PUBG. However it's not about PUBG it's more about me now not being able to use my gamepad for PPSSPP ?

I could be due to many reasons.
Firstly tell me this does your mobile detect the wired gamepad as a peripheral device connection?
Check in settings > connected devices.
If not, then test out if a wired keyboard gets connected to you mobile. If the keyboard does get connected and your wired gamepad doesn't, it means your wired gamepad isn't compatible.
Keep in mind this troubleshooting is between your mobile and peripheral devices..
Octopus app connection comes later.

No my device simply DOES NOT detect my wired gamepad. It detects my keyboard and mouse no problem, also much power hogging 1TB HDD but I'm having no luck with my gamepad. The gamepad works fine with other phones and my laptop.

That is what I'm telling you my brother, mobile not detecting wired gamepad alone. But the rest works well.
Wired controller not working in zenfone mpm1
I have gamesir g3w wired controller, it works just fine in my zenfone 3 lazer, but not in my MPM1. Therfore i conclude that Zenfone max pro m1 doesnt support wired controller. Please include fixing this in your nxt update. there are lots of advantage in using wired controller, thats why some user choosing it..
Same ISSUE
I am also facing same issue bro
Wired Mouse and Pendrive trough USB OTG gets detected thought it prompts for reverse charging alert
Same alert is shown while connecting my Game-Pad but it does not show any response and not detected in Octopus app too.
Kindly Requesting Asus to fix this issue ASAP
I have an AT&T Galaxy S10+. I connected a wired Xbox 360 controller to it using the OTG connector that came with it and I can't get the controller to work. The lights around the Xbox button blink but there doesn't seem to be any input. Any ideas? This should work, right?
Ive had the same experience. Noticed on fortnite that with otg cable it wouldnt register the right analog. Using it as bluetooth device works fine tho
