Why won't Xbox 360 Wired Controller Work with My S10+ - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I have an AT&T Galaxy S10+. I connected a wired Xbox 360 controller to it using the OTG connector that came with it and I can't get the controller to work. The lights around the Xbox button blink but there doesn't seem to be any input. Any ideas? This should work, right?

Ive had the same experience. Noticed on fortnite that with otg cable it wouldnt register the right analog. Using it as bluetooth device works fine tho

[Q]PS3 Controller on 3.1

Hi updated my tab with the official update.zip found here and now i'm under 3.1, but if i connect my PS3 pads they just charge and i can't get them to work with Snesoid or in the homescreens like i saw in a bunch of videos from Xoom and Transformers.
There's a workaround or the A500 version of 3.1 lacks of this feature (it would be very disappointing)?

i have the same problem
or they use a third part things to make them able to play...
Did you go into Settings _> Language & Input -> Keyboard Settings ->
Configure Input Devices and turn on the PS3 Controller
then back and
Current Input Method and choose the PS3 controller
I know I have to do something similar for the WiiControllerIME

Thanks, but no luck, it doesn't see the controller. I think i'll mail Acer to ask about this.
EDIT: just tried a wireless mouse, it works like a charm. I think they have dropped the controller drivers

i plan to try my madcatz ps3 fightpad tonight, it's wireless with a dongle.
if i remember correctly, 3.1's gamepad support is for usb hid gamepads. the bluetooth ps3 pads may require a bit more to just work.
But i connected it via USB, not with bluetooth. I dont have different pads, just 2 PS3 ones, but i dont understand why on Xoom and Transformers they works and on A500 not.
I could be wrong, but pretty sure using the USB cord with factory ps3 controllers does not make them USB controllers! The USB is ONLY for charging ps3 controllers. They are bluetooth 100% of the time(mine are this way). And just as the way you use them with ps3, they must be synced to work.
My advice, just get a cheap USB controller, maybe even one for windows PC. They are usually around $5. Or find a knockoff ps3 controller found on many of the chinese sites for about the same money...should work till BT PS3 controller is sorted.

You're wrong. On windows they work with USB cable.
They work USB on PS3 too, for example when they are in charge or you enter in recovery mode.
More sixaxis and DS3 work with Xoom and Transformers (in a video the guy says: "you just need to connect and press the PS button").

Out of the box, the PS3 controllers are charge-only over USB. You have to use a third-party driver to use the PS3 controller over USB on a PC. The only console controller drivers built-in to Windows OS are for the XBox controllers (for obvious reasons).
Even on the PS3 system, if you plug the controller in to the USB ports while playing, it will use Bluetooth if it's available. If for some reason Bluetooth is not available then the PS3 will resort to USB as if it was a PS2 controller, but you won't have the full PS3 controller functionality (which is why Sony has it default to Bluetooth whenever possible).
But on Honeycomb 3.1 they probably embeded the driver because on the other 2 it works out of the box.
I have a retrolink USB nes game pad that I was going to try with Nesoid. The buttons work in menus and such, but the direction pad does not
The buttons don't seem to return any particular key press, so it doesn't seem mappable.

Just did some more testing with a few more USB devices I had laying around. My saitek joystick lets me navigate menus and button presses will do things like open programs, it doesn't seem to work in nesoid. I have an old nostromo n50 game pad, the kind you rest your left hand on. It works perfect with nesoid.

i have 3 sixaxis and 2 dual shocks and neither work. i'll try a third party ps3 nyko controller next i guess.

NO. The controller can work with bluetooth or with USB. There aren't charge only over USB.
OTG cable doesnt make a difference either-. Nio micro usb support. For my ps3 controller.
I want to know why on Transformers and Xoom the DS3 works...
no luck on nyko zero ps3 controller either, though its junk anyway.
i wish i had wired xbox 360 controllers but i only have those in wireless

When using a PS3 controller with a PS3 system, it will use bluetooth connectivity whenever possible. If for some reason a controller will not sync with the PS3, you can get it to connect over USB, but that's not the preferred/default method. You can easily see this to be true when you're playing a game while charging your controller via USB. Unplug the USB cable -- did your controller lose connectivity? No, because it was always connected via bluetooth. Otherwise, if it lost USB connectivity it would have to reconnect via bluetooth when you disconnected the cable.
As for the PS3 controller on other devices via USB or bluetooth, to the best of my knowledge every single device requires drivers. This includes Android v3.1 devices -- some of them just have the driver built-in to their ROM. Apparently, Acer did not include that.

360 or PS3 Controllers on Nexus 10 ?

Anyone tried a 360 or PS3 controller on this tablet ?. I have a wireless 360 controller with the usb adapter lead but the 10 doesn't pick it up. They are pretty cheap on ebay but not sure which to get :-
PS3 controller £9.99 (around $15) - Works via bluetooth and uses its own battery.
360 wired controller £12.99 (around $20) - Plugs via OTG but will draw power from the tablet.
Both I think are knock off versions so might not even work lol
There are apps on the market that provide the software and drivers needed for either a PS3 controller or xbox 360 wired controller via OTG. Then you can use either one to play emulated games
As for your cheap ebay controllers, i'm not sure.

On other devices you could use the PC Wirless adapter for the 360 via USB, and use wireless 360 controllers. The nexus 10 doesn't seem to even turn it on via otg though :/
Im in the same predicament kinda sad the ` ultimate tablet' it's the one that least has hardware support
I can't comment on the ps3 but the Xbox 360 wired controller works just fine for me.

I have both a wireless 360 controller and a cheap 360 replica. Both work like they should when I connect them via OTG to the Nexus 10.
Also, connecting a mouse and a keyboard works with OTG.
I read that OTG cables are different from each other, it may or may not work depending on the cable.
I have used both and I prefer the ps3 controller. I use the otg cable with both. If you root the N10 you can you use the ps3 controller via bluetooth with an app called six axis. You don't need an app if just using the otg cable.

Ps4 controller, jk. Obviously ps3, root your device and use sixaxis controller as more ppl says... all games work with it .

[Q] N10 360 Wireless Controller setup

I recently got an XBOX 360 controller to try to get it working with my Nexus 10 however it is not recognizing the controller. The controller itself is a XBOX 360 controller with a USB charging adapter. Since I don't have the USB wireless receiver I'm trying to get the controller to be recognized through the USB cable. Thus I have connected the USB to an OTG cable. When I hit the synch button it continually flashes but does not synch. Is there something I need to do to my N10 to get it to properly recognize the controller? Drivers or rooting etc???
My Nexus 10 is currently stock Android 4.2, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference, it has NOT been rooted yet.
Thanks

Has to be a wired 360 controller. As far as i know the wireless model still connects wirelessly even when plugged in with a 360.
The wired controller is working great for me in GTA vice city though.

the wireless 360 controller does work on a N10, but you need the XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver and your OTG cable. unfortunately this setup is not supported by any of the games i've tried. vice city for instance does not even have a deadzone setting for the wireless controller and the button mappings are all over the place, whereas everything is preconfigured for the wired version.

Yeah, the wireless receiver is essential. The n10 doesn't have a key map for wireless Xbox controllers, which is why they don't work with most games. But if you've rooted it's easy to get it all working. See this thread from the n7 forum, same process applies to the n10. Been playing GTA Vice City with a wireless controller, works like a charm.

Do you have to do any setup to get it to recognize the wired 360 controller? Do you just plug it in to the micro-usb port?

[Q] ctrlr dongle doesn't work

Hello everybody yesterday i received my mojo. Console Works great but the control don't pair with the usb dongle in de mojo. PC and MAC recognise the usb but don´t pair..
However the control pairs perfect without using dongle in Galaxy s4, with the dongle don´t work. Any suggestion? There are any bt dongle compatible with mojo and ctrlr?
Thanks in advance. Regards!

If I understand you correctly, make sure the BT dongle included with the mojo is on the USB3 (blue) port.
Try turning BT on in android setup.. not sure why that would help, but just in case there's been an update..

If that didn't work, raise a support request with madcatz, probably a busted USB Dongle, (it should work fine on PC/android/ect, MAC i think might need drivers)
You can pair the mojo CTRLR to your galaxy without the dongle?? wow!
Man, I'm hoping it's a firmware fix coming
Also: There are any bt dongle compatible with mojo and ctrlr?
TMK, The dongle isn't actually BT, so I doubt there would be an alternative out there.

Yes, i plug the dongle on the USB3 of the mojo, but the controller doesn't pair.
Turning on the Bluetooth of the mojo doesn't detect the controller
in galaxy s4 with stock kitkat and without dongle the controller pair and works fine.
If i power off the bt on sgs4 and connect the dongle with otg USB phone detect new keyboard connected but controller doesn't pair.
Only pair without dongle and with bt 4.0 devices....... I'm confused.
Thanks for you answer man!

What model# is it?
My MOJO CTRLR is 32263 and my the retail CTRLR : 32266.
Maybe different firmware, I would raise a ticket with Madcatz, with a link to this thread.
"If i power off the bt on sgs4 and connect the dongle with otg USB phone detect new keyboard connected but controller doesn't pair."
Is that with the MOJO dongle, it works with a BT4 keyboard?
I hope it's a new firmware release for both CTRLR and MOJO :fingers-crossed:
Does the blue light come on the CTRLR?
Try holding down the start button for a few seconds, the light should go red'ish then try to repair.
That's very strange, did you check that both USB ports on the MOJO work?
I'm guessing it's a firmware issue or a dongle issue.

Even with a BT4 USB adaptor, I doubt it would work on the MOJO because android 4.3 doesn't support BT4.
Raise a support ticket on the madcatz site.
that's a bummer, hope you get it fixed soo.
Same Problem here, Mojo paired with my phone but not with the controller. But the Controller works fine with my Nexus 5.
Same problem here. MOJO support doesn't seem to be much help other than disconnect it and reconnect but I can't even get it to pair. Anyone found resolution for this?
I also have the same problem, would installing a lower firmware help?, mine came with the 4k res and ouya update out of box, if I install lower firmware would that solve my dongle problem?
Thanks

No, don't bother.
FYI: @Coolin82 @rmraiden
TMK, the only thing you can do is install the lollypop custom rom, it doesn't need the dongle and pairs fine without it.
See the development forum.
Wow! That's really strange, I use the dongle on my PC(linux/XP) and mojo.. never had issues it, it just works.
Mine is now working. Mad Catz RMA'd my controller and sent me the new CTRL that doesn't require a dongle. Gaming is so much better now!!
Oh nice, you got a retail version.. it has BT2 and BT4 that's why you don't need the dongle.
any solution ?

Xbox 360 Wired Controller

Has anyone managed to get a wired Xbox 360 controller working?
When I plug it in the four lights around the Xbox button flash, which I understand is normal. However games don't seem to recognize it.
