I Need info/help installing TWRP on my Fire HD 10 - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I asked this question about a week ago, but no one has replied.... I know it is
possible to install TWRP on my Kindle, but can not seem to get any help with
this. Currently I have this:
Kindle Fire HD-10" (suez) Modified FireOS 5.6.4.0 w/ Root.
I am only asking for help locating a guide or maybe a quick walk through ??
I really need to get TWRP on my Fire, but can not seem to find a definite way
to do this ... preferably with a Win10 PC not a Linux box. IF I can only achieve
this via Linux, please tell me so and I will just have to go that route.
Thank you for reading this

To setup Linux on your PC? Install the Linux on your PC and make dual boot or access to live CD. Also can run Linux on virtual machine on Windows PC

[Q] Rooting the Kindle Fire under Linux?

I am using Ubuntu and on all the guides I've read so far, it tells me to download the USB 3rd party thing. But of course, that's not usable under Linux.
Can someone point me towards a guide that DOES work fully under Ubuntu/Linux?
Thanks.
Search is your friend.... I've not used this but...

TWRP for mac???

EDIT: Please delete thread, problem solved.
Does anyone have any information on installing twrp from a mac? I have adb installed, but I haven't read anywhere about how to install it using a mac.
I installed TWRP using my Mac with the official Android SDK and platform-tools for Android 2.3 and Android 4.0 installed.
Basically just followed the instructions on the RootzWiki, as recommended by one of the devs: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/12343-how-to-install-twrp-20-linux/
did you install usb drivers (even though they aren't supported by mac osx)? and did you do anything differently because you were using a mac?
thanks for the link.

Sorry man, I don't remember whether or not I installed any USB drivers. If they're not supported, I imagine that I didn't.
But, I don't want to give you misleading info -- so, if you're not sure, I'd say hold off until someone who really knows what they're talking about chimes in. I'm pretty reckless when it comes to this stuff, and I'd hate for you to do something you regret on account of my mouth, ha!
sorry, another question, did the kindle automatically show up in adb with no tinkering, hate to pester you, im just planning everything before i give it a go.
also, did you plug it in while it was on with usb storage enabled?

You don't need any drivers. Adb and fastboot should both work just fine. You might need to edit the ini file though.
Did you have to edit the usb_ini file? if so, how would i go about doing it?

Same as on linux... I changed it, but i'm not sure i needed to.
ok, one final thing ( i promise) http://rootzwiki.com/topic/12343-how-to-install-twrp-20-linux/ is that similar to what you did?
Edit: I've ****ed up and now i'm stuck in fastboot. do you have any ideas how to fix that?

[Q] Madcatz Mod

I am not a developer but still able to perform tasks with proper instructions. I would like to hire someone that might be willing to assist me to load a stable mod of Android Lollipop or Kit Kat on my Mojo? I at this point do not have allot of faith that Madcatz will be forthcoming with futher updates for the Mojo? Again any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dude, just look at the mojo developer forum here... Already done

Let me rephrase from above....sorry was not to clear. I would like advice on a good stable mod that addresses allot of Mojo's stock software issues. I may need a mentor in the process because my experience stops at side-loading via adb. Ok so I have downloaded the Mods and software. I take it root is a must first? Can Mojo be rooted with adb or is the cable a must? Also is the adb command structure the same or close in Umbuntu Vs Windows? I in a short time have gone from Apple and Microsoft to Linux and Android? For the first time since DOS I have no Microsoft devices in my house The Bad I mostly feel clueless!!! I know this is elementary to you folks and I appreciate all your patience.
Ah ok. Rooting first i believe is needed to get twerp installed. Mojo explain how to root on their own site. I've never worked with adb over a network so I can't help there, I just used the cable and my windows PC, from there the guides in the developer section couldn't be more straight forward but alas you'll maybe need someone more offay on adb rules etc than me to aid you with your adb without the cable etc.

Welcome to freedom!
Do want you can with your hardware and software!
TMK, you need the male-male USB cable, for installing the recovery.
Then from recovery you can install the rom.
TMK, it's the same in windows and linux.
Tip: if your more comfortable on windows, use windows, don't add more complexity
Edit: If your going to pay anyone for help, it should be the dev of the rom @Unjustified Dev

[REQUEST] Root for MacOS

I did research and discovered JOdin (equivalent to Odin 3 for windows) I believe.
Just want to request for a step by step guide for MacOS to root the s8?
Better ask than brick my s8, cheers!
Go sell your mac and take a Dell !

You should consider installing Windows under a virtual machine or Bootcamp if you rather boot natively. I haven't checked lately but JOdin isn't maintained and is outdated. You might accidentally brick your phone using it.
install a virtual machine on your Mac. Or use something like Wine. I know it works well on Linux so it should work too on Mac. It allows to run Windows apps on Linux/OSX
Thanks guys

Moving from iOS! I’m lost! :)

Can anyone point me in the right direction to where I can find a tutorial to root my OP6T with Mac? Thanks in advance!

You could use Bootcamp. Or a Virtual Machine. While rooting with a Mac is possible it's a Royal PITA as compared to Windows. Also if you somehow mess up and brick your device you can use MSM. But MSM Download Tool requires Windows and Windows Only. It doesn't even work on Linux or Mac. So I'd suggest you to setup a Virtual Machine or Bootcamp. If not then better be ready to jump through hoops

Bootcamp is built into MacOS. Just search it, follow the prompts and setup Windows. After that you can follow any tutorial to root your phone. If you still want help, then I'd recommend you set up Bootcamp up first cause the actual tutorial exactly step by step is waaay to long for me to write here. You can easily setup Bootcamp by Searching for Bootcamp on your Mac, running it and following the on-screen instructions. There are plenty of tutorial for that on YouTube. Once you have Bootcamp setup, lemme know and I'll guide you through.
Just a suggestion, but since you are new to Android, maybe just use the phone without root for a while and see if you like it as-is? While there are some fun things to do with root access, the need for it is much less than it used to be. My 6T is my first non-rooted Android after nearly a decade of rooted devices. There are only a few things I miss and non of them worth the effort of rooting.
Welcome to Android. Come on in, the water's fine!

One other suggestion. Instead of dealing with bootcam/VM type stuff, consider getting a cheapo Goodwill old windows box. For a few bucks you will have a real computer with real ports to play with. A 5 year old box is way more than enough for what you need. Or eBay something cheap.

I've just started to use MacBook Pro to root my OP6T. The only thing you need is a working adb and fastboot unless you brick it (knock on wood) then you will need a PC and MSM. Here's is the step to get you to adb and fastboot (reboot to bootloader)
1. Download the platform tools package for macOS (attachment) and extract it.
2. Go to the Launchpad and open Terminal.
3. Type cd /location/to/the/platform tools
4. Type . /adb devices
If it works, It will show your device in the terminal. Dont forget to tap OK to allow USB Debugging on your phone.
Hope this help.
