Issue with Screen Margins - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

So guys yesterday I turned off and then on the option "MIUI Optimization" in developer settings. After doing that the font and icon size increased drastically so I had to go in screen settings to lower the font sizer and then on accessibility settings I dropped the screen/icons size.
After doing that I immediately noticed even though the settings were as they always have been it looked like the letters and icons were tinier. Which bothers me.
I think this is a bug that happens when you do what I did. And yes I've already attempted a factory reset to no avail.
Here's an image showcasing what the problem is. If I'm not mistaken before doing all this, the Three dot menu was located on the far right of the phone screen and not in the middle like it is now, also some text is cut out.
P. S Don't mind the language, it's Portuguese.

Boas, não sei se ainda precisas de ajuda sendo que foi há um ano, mas:
Try enabling developer options, and scrolling down and increasing a number called "Smallest DPI Width"
That's what I use when my phones have the icons and text bigger than I like, it resizes everything on screen, and I'm pretty sure it maintains the ratios.
DISCLAIMER: this is a dangerous setting, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT type anything higher than 500 or you may brick your phone, trust me, been there. I have it at 470 right now and it's perfect.

Text size and temporary vision impairment

I have been going through phases of intense tiredness which after loads of tests at hospital and my doc, they have said it chronic fatigue syndrome.
I can get so physically tired I cannot keep my balance when walking or focus my eyes, however am still awake enough to use the phone although I slur.
The problem is my eyes are OK, but I get so tired I cannot see to read the letters on the screen and I cannot hold the device far enough away to get things in focus even at the largest text.
My doc says there is little point in seeing an optician as when I get more awake again I can see things fine, and the intensity of the problem will vary with how tired I am - so the only way I can see to address this is to have text larger than the current largest.
Is there any way of doing this. or getting the wizard to read me the text?
Or alternately any other suggestions?
A neighbor of mine was diagnosed with something similar, he's in his 40's. He has sleep apnea (sp?) and wears a mask to create pressure and give slight amounts of oxygen. He also had a sleep test done, and found out he has 900 leg twitches at night (I thought restless leg syndrome was BS at first). The leg twitches don't let him go into REM deep sleep so he's ALWAYS tired. Even to the point of being pulled over for "acting drunk" (I've never seen him even have a beer, ever).
He's improved now with some RLS medication and the mask, much more energetic. He's a carpenter, so quite active during the day, and looks pretty fit. Anyway, I'm not a doctor, but just odd that you mentioned your issues, and it sounded like his, because he cannot read his smartphone later in the day.
The MDA seems to have a tiny screen compared to some of the older PDA's. I really wish all PDA's had 640x480 screens instead of 320x240, it would make it so much more readable.
To change the system font size
1) On the Home screen, click Start > Settings System Tab > Screen.
3) Enable Cleartype using tab at the bottom (optional, might help)
2) Select Text Size tab, slide slider to larger or largest to set the size of the font that is displayed on the screen. It doesn't do it for EVERYTHING, but it might help with tasks, emails and calender
Click OK along the top right.
There are some registry tweakers out there that claim to be able to change the font size, or even the font itself to another font. Or you can research how to change registry settings yourself. Good luck!

Font got so big in SMS screen.

I'm using EzInput, Compact QWERTY.
I was replying to a message, by accident I swiped the thumb over those upper arrow XT9/ABC & Send buttons, then the font size suddently got bigger. I swiped my thumb around those keys again & it got even BIGGER.
I played around with the font settings (Settings > All Settings > Screen > Text Size), but nothing helps.
Soft Reset. Not helping.
Good thing I have SpriteBackup. Back up, everything's normal again...
Weird stuff.
Cant wait for the new ROM from HTC.
You can change Text size with the zoombar (in threaded sms-mode).
Maybe that changed your text size?!
That's it!!!
Thanks for the tip!
D
Thanks marcel
I was wondering where the setting was, didnt know about the zoombar thing

Way to alter menu sizes...?

Hi all,
I'm not sure what its called, but you know the context menus that come up basically whenever you hold your pointer over something for a while? It annoys me with the size they are in wm6.5. I love the speed of wm6.5 (tried both xplode's r7 (about to install 7.1...) and swampy's rls) but it really annoys me that they've made everything so big. Seems to take twice as long to do simple things now because now you have to scroll down menus to find what you're looking for. Is there anyway to bring this back to the good old "classic" sizes? I can't seem to find an option anywhere... and I realise loading a skinning app is just going to slow the OS down making the whole upgrade to 6.5 kinda pointless.
Also, does anyone know a way to speed up the actual time taken to register a tap and hold command? So that we don't have to spend as long to bring up the context menus?
Thanks in advance~

that's a lot of questions. let me start with saying that i can not guarantee you, that the reg tweaks work. i found them for different devices and checked both my devices and didn't have the reg keys in there. so i don't knoiw if it helps you. Maybe, if i find out more, i'll post it later:
1. The size of the context and softkey menus:
a. the easiest way to influence the size and look of those menus would be, installing another theme. not just the color will change, but also the entire looks, so if you have a .tsk theme, copy it to the device and activate it, you will see it changed.
b. regitry tweak:
HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\Popfnt\
there should be two dword values that you can change to whatever you like.
ht=height is default set to 1000
wt=width is default set to 700
2. a skinning app is gonna slow down the os
- true, with wm6.5 there is really no need for anything else to make the graphics any nicer
3. tap and hold time:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay
right-click, select properties, and enter a value from zero to 999 milliseconds
if that value, does not exist, create it (string value)
if those values didn't work, you should try out advanced config, which can be downloaded here: http://www.pocketpc.ch/news/42529-freeware-advanced-config-3-0-a.html
there you have more than 200 tweaks for the os and don't need to search the registry for any values.
first off, a big thank you for the speediness of your reply.
i tried out the other tsk files i have... but unfortunately i don't have any older ones from wm5/6, only the newer 6.5 ones. they didn't seem to make much difference in size of anything... only the actual colour/font schemes. if you have any older tsk files that you wouldn't mind uploading, that'd be much appreciated as something to try.
the softkeys aren't so much an issue - i've got wisbar to disable them (yes yes, i know wisbar is a skinning app... but i prefer a nice cascading start menu to something i need to fumble through to find stuff any day) - its more the context menus that are annoying me.
the registry edit is interesting. changing the height and width actually also changes the zoom on the font size... i'm not sure how this is being calculated, but the font is clearly getting smaller the smaller you set the dimensions. it seems like its taking a predefined box with the text designed to take up a predefined percentage of it and then letting you put in the dimensions of the box... basically so that no matter what numbers you plug in, you'll always have the rather annoying amount of space being wasted between items in the context menus. though all that said and done, 750 for height and 350 for width are far more workable than the previous settings. more than legible too imo~
the tap and hold time tweak worked wonderfully
thanks again~
Tap and Hold time delay Setting
I found your post ref to Tap and Hold delays. I tried this Tap and Hold setting you said worked on your phone (see below) I tried it as shown below on a HTC wm 6.5 HTC pure(diamond2), and did not see a change, were you able to shorten the delay? Is that done with a String? or Dword?
3. tap and hold time:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay
right-click, select properties, and enter a value from zero to 999 milliseconds
if that value, does not exist, create it (string value).
I have spent hours searching the registry for a solution
it was a dword iirc... tbh, this hasn't been so much of an issue for me with the newer releases so i haven't bothered so much.

If you still need themes for wm6.1, try http://www.wm6themes.com/
I use one from that site on my BA, but since i don't have wm6.5 installed right now, i can't tell you whether it'll help in your situation or not.

Opera - Can't see whole webpages...

I noticed that no matter how far you try to zoom out, you can not see the entire webpage of certain sites.
Is there a reason behind this? And if so, is there a fix? Not a lot of ppl are talking about this issue.
I was really bothered by that, till last night when I managed to fix it while snooping around the registry
Lower Default Zoom (Really takes advantage of the HD2 beautiful screen)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Prefs\Adaptative Zoom]
Default Zoom=100 (or lower value... play with it)
Hope it helps
humm weird. i still wont. webpages remain zoomed in on first entry. such as notebookreview.com. even after changing it to 100, the webpage does not fully show 100% but rather zoomed in.
** UPDATE:
changing the default zoom did not work, but right under that key was VIRTUAL screen (default 800). I changed it to 1000 and wahlah! it worked !
I now see webpages in full scale and no longer zoomed in.
This is great and should definitely appear in BsB tweak, I like it!
Hmmmmm weird, worked for me ... anyway, glad you got it sorted out. It shouldcome like that as standard really

You can find this setting in about:config -> Adaptive Zoom -> Virtual Screen Width
And if you guys are interested, here are a couple other reg settings I liked:
Increase Scrolling FPS
I changed the following key to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Info]
PanFps=50
Increase Zooming FPS
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Info]
ZoomFps=50
These two above make a world of difference in smoothness of both scrolling and zooming on my device. Do not enter a value higher than 50 or it will not take effect (at least it did not on my HD2)
Enjoy
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
In my Kaiser, i could manage this by pressing and holding the bars to move the screen. In Leo this was impossible, so some sites were just useless to me.

Exactly. With "Virtual Screen Width" set to 1000 or even more, you will be able to always see the entire website.
does anyone kno9w why in certain versions of opera, when you open Google search engine, you cannot see the 'Show Options' button? (at the top -- when you click on this it allows you to hit "latest" so you get real time tweets and so on).

What happened to the screen text size icon?

I've got a problem that's driving me nutto. So I like to have the smallest font so that I can maximize my real-estate; I don't want to have to scroll up and down to read an email especially when I have this gorgeous screen.
I know that I can change the font size via the Manila menu, however when I open outlook, the message and the email font-size is HUGE and disproportionate to the system fonts WTH?!
So in the past I know that I've been able to go to START>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>SCREEN (or something like that), and I've been able to change the font to the smallest size. This does not seem to be the case with the T-Mo HD2 default ROM.
I've combed the net hoping that there's some regkey setting to change this but I keep striking out.
Anyone know whether the screen resolution option is hidden and if so, how do I expose it?
Um, not sure if you know this (you probably do, but I just want to make sure), you can just pinch to zoom out (and in) and it will make the font quite small.
Uhm... yes, I know about pinch to zoom. This is separate from that. I'm talking about the native resolution when I'm viewing messages in my inbox which has nothing to do with pinch zoom.
Does that make sense? If not, lemme know and I can clarify
Just to clarify, when I open an email and pinch to zoom (in this case zoom in), I get the correct resolution that I want, only problem is when I let go, it bounces back to what it previously was.
HKLM\controlpanel\pen\hide change to 0, to get back screen icon in Sytem control panel
or you can goto manila settings\personalize\font to change font size.

I'm slightly confused, so when you go into an email in your inbox and zoom out, it won't stay zoomed out? (which would be very odd)
Also, when you're in an email and hit menu>view>text size is it set to smallest?
