I've got a problem that's driving me nutto. So I like to have the smallest font so that I can maximize my real-estate; I don't want to have to scroll up and down to read an email especially when I have this gorgeous screen.
I know that I can change the font size via the Manila menu, however when I open outlook, the message and the email font-size is HUGE and disproportionate to the system fonts WTH?!
So in the past I know that I've been able to go to START>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>SCREEN (or something like that), and I've been able to change the font to the smallest size. This does not seem to be the case with the T-Mo HD2 default ROM.
I've combed the net hoping that there's some regkey setting to change this but I keep striking out.
Anyone know whether the screen resolution option is hidden and if so, how do I expose it?
Um, not sure if you know this (you probably do, but I just want to make sure), you can just pinch to zoom out (and in) and it will make the font quite small.
Uhm... yes, I know about pinch to zoom. This is separate from that. I'm talking about the native resolution when I'm viewing messages in my inbox which has nothing to do with pinch zoom.
Does that make sense? If not, lemme know and I can clarify
Just to clarify, when I open an email and pinch to zoom (in this case zoom in), I get the correct resolution that I want, only problem is when I let go, it bounces back to what it previously was.
HKLM\controlpanel\pen\hide change to 0, to get back screen icon in Sytem control panel
or you can goto manila settings\personalize\font to change font size.

I'm slightly confused, so when you go into an email in your inbox and zoom out, it won't stay zoomed out? (which would be very odd)
Also, when you're in an email and hit menu>view>text size is it set to smallest?

i want to increase the softkey size in VGA mode so i can push the buttuns with my fingers easier is this possible ?
I feel the same about this. In many applications, the buttons are just too small in VGA mode. Would be nice if there is a way to bring it back to the size used in QVGA.
But, wait, why don't we simply toggle back to QVGA mode? The internet browser, which is VGA aware, could display exactly the same amount of data (choose small font in QVGA = choose large font in VGA). Same goes for excel and word as both of these applications are already VGA aware. In that way, the taskbar and menu buttons could remain big, which is my preferred size for them. Most of the other applications (phone, games, settings, activesync, calculator, camera, music players, pocket mechanics, etc simply looks way way better in QVGA, as the buttons and fonts look more proportionate and undistorted.
The only place not VGA aware, and would be nice if it is, is the today desktop and when you start program, or go to the setting screen. Not enough icons could appear on the screen without scrolling. Another one if the file explorer. Then there is the indexes of documents before getting into excel and word (would be nice if at that point we could already have zoom features). These are the places that I like true VGA to kick in.
Is there a way to toggle between VGA and nonVGA without a reset? If we can toggle that like the screen orientation, it would be real nice.
well a lot of prorgrams arent VGA aware... like text messaging outlook email etc. or atleast it doesnt seem to be... and as far as the internet explorer goes you may downsize the font but resolution still plays an important part
anyways i looked around in the registry and i couldnt find any settings anyone have any insight?

Sorry mate not as far as I know either.
VJToggleToday II can alter the size of the Today screen softkeys.
It could probably be hacked up to change any windows' softkeys, but I haven't thought about that yet, it's an inelegant solution.

hmm how would you go about this ?
Hi there,
I am hoping to find just a few rare tweaks for my Diamond, here they are:
1. Anybody ever though of (can't believe nobody did) a tool for left-handed users? Specifically, a.o.:
- WM vertical scrollbar displayed on the left not on the right
- In TF3D, the People tab, the slide-out bar to display some of my favorites is on the right and not on the left. Sliding with left hand is no good because the palm covers the screen.
2. Is there any way to transfer contacts with non-ASCII symbols from htc memory to SIM?
3. Managing text messages. Once you browse Inbox and single click on a message it displays along with the keyboard. What makes big sense once you want to send a message is useless for reading messages. Any way to rid the screen of it? How about the font used to display the message. Which registry variable sets it?
4. How about SMS channels be displayed on today screen? It is possible to add the channel but not display it.
regards
With regards to #3, can't you just tap the keyboard symbol at the bottom-center of the screen to make it disappear?
I sure can, but tell me one reason to do it?

Opera Mobile 10 is more slick, but a big problem I had with it was that unless Zoom was set to at least 140%, links / text in Portrait mode were too small to click on / read. The lack of adaptive zoom and zoom slider in Opera 10 didn't help either. Well not any more!
Either go into the Opera advanced settings page by typing in "opera:config" in the URL when Opera 10 is running and click on "Fonts" to change the font settings, or just stick the following lines into the "Opera.ini" file inside <Opera 10 Installed Location>\PROFILE\ directory:
Code:
[Fonts]
Form.Button=25,3,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
Form.Input=25,3,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
Form.Text=24,3,0,0,0,0,Courier New
H1=40,5,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
H2=34,5,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
H3=30,5,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
H4=26,5,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
H5=22,5,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
H6=20,5,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
Normal=25,3,0,0,0,0,Tahoma
PRE=23,3,0,0,0,0,Courier New
The 1st number in each line represents the actual font size. Adjust to your liking. The font sizes above let me navigate most websites with Default Zoom @ 100% and the text is very readable.
Note that some webpages will look more misaligned due to the larger fonts, but now at least you won't need to have zoom at 200% to be able to read the text
This probably also works for Opera 9.7 and below, but the issue isn't as important since these versions have a more useful zoom slider and proper font-size adjustment in the Settings menu whereas Opera 10 buries it in the opera:config page.
Hope this helps some of you out there.
Have you also tried to size the browser window to fit on the screen from the "opera:config"? I mean, I tried to set the default zoom to 100% instead of (I believe) 175% as is the default. Looking at a webpage I like to see it all, and THEN I decide what to zoom in on.
I read another post where the guy managed to set the zoom to 100%, I just didn't have any luck doing that on my phone! Maybe I made a mistake, don't know...
Wonder if there might be another place to type in how wide you want to see the pages in default mode...
regards Helle
Thanks for this info
I noticed that no matter how far you try to zoom out, you can not see the entire webpage of certain sites.
Is there a reason behind this? And if so, is there a fix? Not a lot of ppl are talking about this issue.
I was really bothered by that, till last night when I managed to fix it while snooping around the registry
Lower Default Zoom (Really takes advantage of the HD2 beautiful screen)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Prefs\Adaptative Zoom]
Default Zoom=100 (or lower value... play with it)
Hope it helps
humm weird. i still wont. webpages remain zoomed in on first entry. such as notebookreview.com. even after changing it to 100, the webpage does not fully show 100% but rather zoomed in.
** UPDATE:
changing the default zoom did not work, but right under that key was VIRTUAL screen (default 800). I changed it to 1000 and wahlah! it worked !
I now see webpages in full scale and no longer zoomed in.
This is great and should definitely appear in BsB tweak, I like it!
Hmmmmm weird, worked for me ... anyway, glad you got it sorted out. It shouldcome like that as standard really

You can find this setting in about:config -> Adaptive Zoom -> Virtual Screen Width
And if you guys are interested, here are a couple other reg settings I liked:
Increase Scrolling FPS
I changed the following key to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Info]
PanFps=50
Increase Zooming FPS
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Info]
ZoomFps=50
These two above make a world of difference in smoothness of both scrolling and zooming on my device. Do not enter a value higher than 50 or it will not take effect (at least it did not on my HD2)
Enjoy
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
In my Kaiser, i could manage this by pressing and holding the bars to move the screen. In Leo this was impossible, so some sites were just useless to me.

Exactly. With "Virtual Screen Width" set to 1000 or even more, you will be able to always see the entire website.
does anyone kno9w why in certain versions of opera, when you open Google search engine, you cannot see the 'Show Options' button? (at the top -- when you click on this it allows you to hit "latest" so you get real time tweets and so on).
After you zoom Opera would try to snap on to a text column automatically. I really don’t like this, but couldn’t find a way to disable it. I think it might have something to do with text column wrapping to match the width of the screen for better and easier reading.
But can it be disabled? I prefer a behavior close to a normal desktop browser. I was not able to find any posts that offer a solution or even mention this.
Can anyone help?
