How do you get to the recovery under Pie? The previous key combination does not work anymore. It always comes back the start screen.

Power off device.
Hold Vol Down + Power buttons
When lg logo appears, release Power button (still holding VolDown) then quickly press and hold Power
I read this somwhere but don't remember where
I think this should be the same as G7

not work..power+ camera + volume up = download mode...
any solution?
no volume down is download., i just did it on my phone the to comfirm that its volume up + search key hold them first then press power. Could be just the kdz i put on.
i found key combination
FIRST power key - when LG logo appears press CAMERA key....
To enter the bootloader: with the phone off hold volume down and press power. Use the volume rocker to scroll through the options
To enter Recovery: Once in the bootloader screen use the volume rocker to bring up the Recovery Mode option and press the power button. This gets you to the dead Andy with the red triangle. Now press volume up and you should have the stock Android recovery.
I'm guessing the bootloader is locked? :X

Once at dead Andy, I (at least) had to press power and vol up to get to stock recovery. Vol up alone did nothing.

This has been happening to me too. Vol up and Andy just lays there, red triangle in hand, laughing at me.
EDIT: Nevermind............ I was missing the point. All good now.
Weird. I'm not able to get past the dead android.
I get into the bootloader fine, can select Recovery Mode, phone reboots and I get the dead Andy with "No command".
Tried pushing vol up... nothing. Tried pushing power and vol up... nothing.
I'm just trying to wipe the cache partition... which I've done before... but can't get past the dead guy.

in the dead andy screen press vol up + power for 4 seconds. if nothing happens try again, is a little tricky.
I have found that mine seems to work better if I hold the vol up for a second BEFORE I press power. Hold vol for a second then continue to hold it while you push power and let both go. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks guys, I'm in.
Man... that's a fine line between holding the buttons long enough to get into recovery, and holding them too long so as to shut your phone off!
X_man, that trick of holding vol up first before pressing power did actually seem to make it easier.

No prob. Glad to help. I myself actually restarted a couple times by accident before I figured out you can hold the vol first. lol
You should only need to tap power while holding the volume Up button.
1. At the bootloader screen, select Recovery mode.
2. Wait for the dead Andy.
3. Press and hold volume Up.
4. Tap power and release (still pressing volume Up).
5. Recovery should show in a second or less.
€DIT: deleted, here was crap
Correction!

@Moondroid, I tried what you suggested many times, but to no avail. Finally I figured out that you had steps 3 and 4 in the wrong order! So for anyone that's still trying to figure this out, press and hold power button, then tap volume up button and release .

2. Wait for the dead Andy.
3. Press and hold Power Key (atleast for 01 SEC).
4. Tap Volume Up and release (still pressing Power Key).
5. Recovery should show in a 01 milli second or less.
cant sent it back as well due to me buying this phone in a different country, any ideas?
Did you try key combo? Hold Vol Down+Home+Power until screen goes blank(it will try to reboot so you have to be fast) then hold Vol Up+Home and recovery(twrp?) should load.

I had this problem too and after many hours I found a solution. When the flash fails and the mobile redtarts, quickly press volume down, bixby button and power button to go into download mode again. Don't let the phone go into boot. The second time it will flash correctly.

yup I've tried that and it works thanks, now i think i should flash the stock rom, but why flashing TWRP keep the phone on SAMSUNG logo, is there any solution for that
i have tried something, I've flashed BL and CP files and the phone booted into TWRP but it still won't start if i rebooted system!! ,does that means the system file is corrupted should i install official stock rom, or if i installed a custom rom it would start normally
Install AQF7 bootloader otherwise you will be stuck at boot
Try this !
Prepare ODIN with the files CL + BL.
This worked for me this way, my phone was like yours...
I Cannot turn phone off too.
There's a trick...
All the time you enter in Download mode, and hit Start in Odin, the Odin says "FAIL" and the phone automatic reboot.
The trick is..
When in "Download mode" Start and at the same time press and hold "Vol Down + Bixby + Power".
Odin says FAIL and it will restart the phone automatic.
Press faster and hold "Vol Down + Bixby + Power" to go again to "Download mode".
Press Start in Odin and be prepared to press and hold at the same time "Vol UP + Bixby + Power".
Odin will start to transfer the files... and after that the phone reboot again faster, just press and hold one more time and faster "Vol UP + Bixby + Power".
TWRP will start !
Hope it helps
Yup I've tried Odin again and pressed the download mode combination and I've entered the TWRP recovery and flashed Batman Rom and it worked fine thank to u guys I'm out of this, I'm so grateful to u all

Hello,
since today, my Mi A1 is totally messed up: it virbates, then the Mi Logo and a four coloured bar appears, and after 5 seconds, the screen goes off, it vibrates again, and the same happens again. I cannot switch it completely off, and I cannot see any menu.
I tried holding Power and Volume Up, but nothing happens (according to many sites, this should give a hard reset opportunity, but nothing happens on this device)
Holding Power and Volume Down, a Fastboot Logo appears, but it reboots again, so no way to enter fast boot.
SIM and SD card are removed.
What else can I try?
Maybe vol buttons damaged?

it just reboots again on its own after you get to fastboot? is your phone connected into your pc when it resets itself after you enter fastboot?
if so disconnect from the pc, enter fastboot and it should not reset by itself this time.
what now? this happened to me too, what I did to fix this problem was flash the stock rom, and then flash the custom rom again, and it worked.
you can flash the stock rom using miflash and the stock rom folder (make sure to get the fastboot version of the rom so u can use it on fastboot)
