Hi everyone!
I hope I'm asking this in the right place. I think I may have really messed up my tablet. My apologies, this is going to be a long one.
After following some very bad advice I was using my SM-T580 8.1 (rooted with TWRP, Magisk and Manager) to explore Xposed. I now know Xposed + Samsung = bootloops. While trying to restore my poor little tablet I messed something up big time. When I tried to boot into recovery....it didn't work. So I booted into download mode and tried to flash stock firmware downloaded from Sammobile. While flashing with Odin 3.13.1, the connection was broken, my dog decided that it as the perfect moment for playtime. Now I can only boot into Odin mode and nothing else. To let it boot normally I get a bootloop with the Samsung Logo and the red warning "Could not boot into normal mode. Invalid Kernal length." Every time I try to flash the firmware I get "re-partition failed" error. I've tried two different PCs, 7 different USB cords, every USB port I have and stock firmware from 6.0 to 8.1. I've tried with and without the PIT file and tried checking/unchecking the repartition box in Odin's options. If I leave the repartition box empty is hangs on "setting up connection" and never moves past that. In the past week, I'm not sure how, I did get to the recovery menu. I cleared the cache and did a factory reset. It still went into the loop, so I tried recovery mode again and was able to look at the logs. I don't know why I looked because I really dont have any idea what they say. The only thing I did understand was that one of them said there was no recovery file. I assume this is a VERY bad thing. Since then I cant get back to it. Oh, depending on which USB port I plug into... sometimes the FRP is ON, with another port it is OFF. Don't know if that would help with a diagnosis. Sorry again for the long post, but I've tried to include as much information as possible. At this point is there any hope of fixing it?
Thank you in advance and a huge thanks for being my "go-to" since my SM-T530nu.

Sorry, I'm a little star struck that you responded to my post. I wanted to use the first TWRP i had installed, but it is a .img and I'm not sure how to use that without being able to access recovery mode. I am a baby when it comes to this stuff. I apologize for my lack of skills in this department. You guys that do this stuff for a living/hobby must have super human abilities. I've only been at this for several days and I'm already pulling my hair out.

The Odin version of TWRP can be found here https://dl.twrp.me/gtaxlwifi/ When you flash it with Odin, be sure to go into options and uncheck "auto reboot". When it finishes, press and hold Home, Vol down and Power buttons till the screen goes black. Quickly shift from Vol down to Vol up buttons till the first screen appears. Keep holding Home and Vol up but release the power button. When the screen blanks you can release all the buttons and you should then be in the TWRP menu.

Are you using Home, Vol up and Power buttons to get to recovery? If that works, you can try Factory Reset from that menu. That should wipe the partitions so you can then go to download mode and flash with Odin. If not, then you'll have to try installing TWRP.
edit: If you can't get out of download mode, try the trick of Home, Vol down and Power till the screen blanks and quickly switching from Vol down to Vol up.

I have tried the Vol up + home + power to get to recovery without success. It happened once, days ago and I wiped the cache and tried a factory reset. It didnt work. I still get the bootloop with the Samsung logo and the Invalid Kernel length error at the top in red letters.
This afternoon I was able to download 3 different TWRP files for my device and tried to flash them. This time Odin stalled...
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Checking MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
and it never moves any further.

I would suggest downloading the combination firmware and see if that can be flashed.
Also where did you obtain the PIT file and are you choosing repartition with the the PIT file loaded?

If the combination firmware is the BL, AP, CSC and Home CSC, it did not work. The only file I haven't tried to flash is the Home CSC because there aren't settings I was trying to keep. I got PIT file two ways. One was a download I found and another was by extracting it from the CSC file. I tried to compare them to the best of my ability and it seemed like they matched. I tried flashing with and without the repartition option. The only thing I haven't selected in the options is NAND erase.
I've tried
XAR-T580UEU1APF5
XAR-T580UEU4CRK5
XAR_T580XAR4CSC1
And GTAXLWIFI_EUR_OPEN.pit with all 3.

The first attempt was without the PIT, second try was with the PIT file as well as the repartition option checked. It did seem to take longer this time before it failed. I thought we were going to get lucky for a second.

Ok. I'll try it now. Should I use the PIT file? Or any of the others? BL, CSC? And just to be sure the file you gave me the link to should be in the AP spot, right?
I found how I could attach pictures for you. There is one that shows Odin with the "Pass" 1 successful/0 Failed. That happened in the middle of all of this by chance. I don't know if that helps any (I doubt it). The same problem was happening before it and after.

I don't recognize the file you are using. The latest T580 stock ROM can be found here: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-tab-a-2016-101-wi-fi/firmware/SM-T580/
For the U.S. it is the one for Cellular South. It is a zip file that needs to be extracted. You only want to flash two of the four. The one starting with AP and the one starting with BP.
The Odin screen should look like the attached image before you click start. Don't change any of the default options.

The recovery your talking about is cwm not default s4 recovery you'll find that recovery here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281367
After its installed try wiping data then cache then going into advanced and wiping dalvik cache

did you try from the stock rom to go to recovery many and wipe to factory default again...
Have you tried to install a recovery like Philz and see if you can access the file system of your GS4.
You'll also find more wiping option
Edit: oh great some1 posted before me.
also try to do it from your official rom

In the Thread you point out... read AGAIN about PIT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
Download the PIT and follow the exact procedure... it's not like flashing a new firmware so read which boxes you check
Try the PIT file with / without the firmware
check also this thread... in case you have a pit related error.

I'm sure you have all you need to recover your phone.
When you will have recovered your phone, update this thread saying you solved your problem.

OH, don't forget to update my thanks counter
Hello,
I saw an answer to this problem in another thread. You have to swipe the phone by starting it with VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER, and then whatever options you have to swipe everything.
Problem SOLVED!!!
hey guys i have solved my greatest problem since i started rooting back on my N7100,my 1st s4 and now my new s4..
thank you for all who helped me,after more than 24hours of reading and waiting for you replies and doing some intervention on my s4,i have recover it..i will post here how i did it for reference for others who might encounter this problem same as mine:
first of all i have noticed this just after successfully revived my phone, you have to WIPE THE DATA/FACTORY REFORMAT via recovery mode before and after doing any firmware update, then i just removed my battery may be a minute and put it back again every time i do flashing..
i used odin version 1.85 not version 3.04..i first chose the pit file and flash it.(when i tried flashing the pit and stock rom together it always ended up to fail)..so i decided to chose to flash the pit file only using odin v1.85(it automatically ticked the "repartition option on this odin version" then it passed..after that as i have said remove battery, wipe data, then i removed again the battery, then put it back and do download/odin mode on my phone, then i flashed stock rom from www.sammoble.com, i searched for globe carrier since my phone was locked on that carrier, then after 2-3minutes(be patient and don't do anything while waiting) my phone backed to life!!!

Hi guys, long time lurker here anyway i've always flashed my S4 with odin and not a single problem always flashed STOCK firmwares
but today i recently discovered a new firmware on the list for the GT-I9500 Exynos Octa (version) - this firmware to be in fact I9500ZNUCMI1
but now its bombed... it hanged and hanged at booting for 20 min then it shut it self off turned it back on 'the firmware encounter a problem' message popped up... i cannot go into recovery mode AT ALL (just download mode) so i thought i will flash my previous stock firmware known as I9500XXUBMG9 but now i cant even do that..... odin just gives me a god damn fail - FOR THE LOVE OF ANDROID HELP ME
- Kies is not running in the background
- USB connections are fine
- Cables are fine
So do i have to fear this is the end ? lol i cannot believe this happened to me on a STOCK firmware.... (lucky for me... all my stuff is backed up on sd)
Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you can get into Download mode, all hope is not lost. Uninstall and resinstall drivers, Odin, etc. reboot.
Odin back to stock, immediately boot into stock recovery, wipe data, reboot.
Done.

The good news is that Download mode is still working. AS long as that's the case, you can get it back. Just keep trying. Switch PCs, switch cables, switch ports, re download a different stock ROM, etc. do whatever it takes to try every variable you can think of.
Eventually, you'll find what's causing it and the ROM will flash successfully. When that happens, get immediately into recovery and wipe data.
(Remove the battery after it flashes, but it back in and hold vol-up+home+power.)
After the data wipe....
Reboot.
Like I said, Download mode means you can find a way to flash, but working with Odin to resolve these issues can sometimes be a PITA. I've had the same thing myself before. Just don't give up. Try to stay calm, and work your way through it. You'll get it eventually.
Edit: Just noticed that you flashed a CHINA firmware. (Why? ) You may be facing this issue because (I think) they use a different pit. There's a thread devoted to resurrecting the device with pit. Maybe check it out.

yes, make sure that you are using the right pit, put it in "pit" window in odin, and the firmware in "pda", make sure "re-partition" is ticked, start.

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to flash a stock rom on a Verizon GS5. I say trying because so far it hasn't been working, unless I'm doing something wrong, which I think I am. When I got the phone, it had a Sprint rom flashed to the GS5. The original Verizon IMEI under the battery is clean and verified good with Verizon. There is nothing physically or cosmetically wrong with the phone, it powers on sometimes and randomly restarts. When it does turn on, the Sprint Spark logo comes up, the phone boots up normally and then randomly shuts off, taking a long time to be able to power back on. The only way that it says on is by putting it on Download Mode.
When in download mode, it shows as a G900P,
As far as my understanding goes, shouldn't it be a G900V?
I attempted to flash a stock Verizon rom I downloaded and tried to flash it with Odin 3.04 but it fails each and every time. I have installed the Samsung drivers that I got from the website, I restarted the computer, I restarted the phone but Odin give me a fail error.
Then I tried a newer version of Odin 4.43 but I'm not sure I'm using that one correctly but it's not working for me either.
I left the phone in Download Mode and it has been on for about 30 mins (the longest so far without it restarting on me).
Is there something that I'm missing here? Something else I could try to fix this?
Any ideas? Suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
..
-> It's a Verizon Galaxy S5 Phone I got from eBay
-> It's flashed with the Sprint rom version of the GS5
-> The phone restarts on and off, randomly, unless it is in Download Mode
-> I want to flash it back to the original Verizon GS5 rom.
-> I attempted to flash the phone with Odin 3.09 and rom SM-G900V_VZW_1_20140331185350
-> I get an error message when using Odin 3.09, it FAILS
-> The progress bar in the GS5 phone advances a small amount but that's it.
-> I attempted to use Odin 4.43 with the same rom file but that also fails and I get an error message.
-> I researched on Google before signing up and asking for help.
-> I have read many Threads and Posts on several Forums, and I have also tried many tutorials without any luck.
-> I researched how to use Odin, there is lot's of pictures, easy explanations but that's not it.
-> I found a GS5 stock rom, file name mentioned above.
-> Samsung drivers are installed, phone is recognized by Odin.
1.) Am I using the correct rom?
2.) Which version of Odin should I use?
..

Download this version of Odin and extract the folder in the zip.
Make sure you have downloaded the correct firmware, extract the MD5 / tar file from inside the firmware.zip file you downloaded and put it in the Odin 3.07 folder
Start Odin.exe, put your phone in download mode and connect to your PC, if you have Kies installed make sure it is not running, Odin and Kies don't mix.
Once you have the Blue ID.COM indicated, click on PDA, find the MD5 / .tar file wait for teh file check Odin runs then click Start, wait for Odin to finish and your phone reboots.
Guide for Odin use here it is from the S3 but the use of Odin is the same for the S5
It took me a while to get it to turn on but here's what I got from trying ag4751's suggestions.

It's the same thing that I was getting before, I'm sorry if I did not explain myself in detail at first.
I have used 2 versions of Odin 3.09 (which I used on my own and got the above message).
3.07 as suggested by ag4751.
I have used 2 different roms and both fail.
->G900V_VZW_1_20140331185350
->G900VVRU1ANI2-20140919141518
@fffft
To answer your question as to what tutorial I followed, I followed ag4751's tutorial/explanation on his reply. It's basic, just like all the other tutorials I googled.
1.) Put the phone in download mode
2.) Open Odin
3.) Select PDA
4.) Wait for the file check
5.) Click start
and then it fails.
That's what @ag4751 suggested, that's what I tried, that's what I tried before, that's what I'm trying now and all that is failing for some reason.

@MichalPlays Try using Odin 307.
downgrade Samsung s4 [GT-I9505] from Lolipop 5.0.1 to kitkat 4.4.2
Please read the entire post and don’t skip any steps, note that we cannot be blamed in case something goes wrong and you brick the phone.
1)-Make sure that your phone version is GT-I9505 (if you don't know how to check ; remove your battery then you will find)
2)-Download " SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones" and setup, if you dont have it already
-Download Odin3-v3.09
-Download "PDA" ; "" [1.52 GB]
-Download "BL" ; "Bootloader_GNK2.tar" [2.12 MB]
-Download "CP"; "Modem_GNK2_FULL.tar" [61.46 MB]
3)- your phone must be Charged 70% or more, and Rooted, if you have Samsung Kies; reboot your pc then end Kies from CPU (Ctrl + Alt + Supp).
4)-extract Odin and Start a program as an administrator then put only the PDA file which you've already downloaded and extracted before "()"
-Disable « Auto Reboot » and « Re-Partition »
-Enable « F. Reset Time » only
-Reboot your phone on Download Mode ( Power off the Phone completely, Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons, all at the same time.
Release the buttons only when the ‘Warning!!’ message appears.
Next, press Volume Up button to confirm that you wish to enter Download Mode.
Your device will now show a green Android with the ‘Downloading… Do not turn off target’ text listed under it.).
-Connect your device with your PC and check "Added Message" and « ID:COM » in Odin
-Start
5)-Once you have "PASS" Plug out your Phone, and Reboot again in "Download Mode",
-Reset Odin
-Enable « Auto Reboot »and « F. Reset Time » only
-Put « Bootloader_GNK2.tar » on "BL"
-Put « Modem_GNK2_FULL.tar » on "CP
-Plug in your Phone and check "Added Message" and « ID:COM » if it doesn't work; restart Odin.
-Start to Downgrade
6)-Once the Downgrade done, plug out your phone and Hard Reset ;
(Power off your phone completely. Boot it in Recovery Mode. Select the ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ option. Confirm process by selecting the ‘Yes — delete all user data’ option. Press Power to confirm process. Reboot the phone when the Hard Reset/ Factory Reset is completed).
7)-Enjoy...

Not knowing WHAT you are flashing, makes it a little harder to determine what is going wrong.
Go HERE and flash this in Download Mode. This is the latest Stock 935A ROM, This will wipe Everything on the device, and it'll be like it came brand new

If you are currently on a ROM that has v4 boot loader's, part of your problem may be that you are trying to flash a rom with v2, v3 bootloaders
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers Legacy app
so i do better go with the v4 bootloader and i will check if the pit file is uncheck, what should i put on the re-partition case of odin active or inactive?
by the way thanks for your help

any idea what can be?
i try to flash the G935a...PI2 rom bot without the CSC which i guess is the pit file right?
When you try to get the device into Recovery, it will appear like it isn't doing it or looks like an "No Command" error and it can take a couple of min to actually get into Recovery.
I would boot into Recovery again, let it sit for a few min. My bet is that it will eventually get into Recovery. Once it does, do a Factory reset, and then reboot into Download Mode, open Odin connect the device to your PC and install all 4 of the items from the Stock ROM thread, don't mess with any of the settings in Odin, just populate the slots with the BL, AP, CP and CSC

OK you got bootloader v2. Try to flash some older version of MM in download mode using odin

You need to start by using the latest Odin, 3.12.3 for installing the original ROM. If you try to unlock, you need to go get the PrinceComsy version. PrinceComsy won't work for in-bricking a device, and if you have any of the stock versions of the ROM, you need the 3.12.3 version.
