My device is having dead touch in the bottom 250 pixels so I want to make sure all usable part of the app is above that... I am using the latest version of AEX 9.0 and the maximum navigation bar height is 135 pixels... I want to know if the is any way to increase the height further so that the navigation bar covers the complete dead touch part...
1. Where are the data of the Custom ROM customisation values stored and will changing it (from 135% to 250%) anyhow help???
2. I tried adb command to move the usable area but it seems to mess up a few apps and I don't want to risk decompiling framework-res.apk to change it as I don't have much knowledge it...

As I look at various themes for www.lakeridgesoftware.com for my device I have one question that no one their could tell me. Is their a way to make the start menu bar at the top double the resolution so when you switch to the True_VGA it would look almost normal or is this something that cannot be changed due to the operating system? Little Help thanks
Hi All,
I have been maing new themes for my system using Themegence. I seem to be experiencing some problems. I searched for answers and only found one or 2 work arounds. My exact questions have not been asked:
1) What is the standard DPI to use for the theme?
2) When I make a theme using the standard theme option (first choice on the options tab) My theme seems to generate fine. All my color tweaks seem to take. But when I use the option for qvga portrait and landscape than the theme won't take my changes to the system colors. (ie, the navigation bar and system tray). It displays my theme but with the standard windows blue colors....yuck
3) What ever I do, in the program, I can't get the theme to change the color of the text for those 2 areas (nav bar and sys tray)
4) I want to change the base hue to a different grey scale value. But the program won't take may change for base hue either. (actually even tweaking the registry directly I can't get a different grey scale base hue. Although I can make it a different color all together)
I know that some of these colors can be changed in the registry, and that there are work arounds for some of the other issues. But I am not looking for work arounds. I want my theme to do everything that it should. In case I ever have to re start the theme, from a system reset, or just changing themes...I don't want to muck around to make it work...know what I mean.
Thanks
I searched the forum but could not find.
I tried RealVGA. Device works OK for most of the applications but sometimes letters are too small to read (if device has a display with 2.6-2.8" diagonal). But it gave me the idea to have smaller top&bottom bars to have larger remaining space on display.
Is there a way to change height (or dpi) of the top and bottom bars, especially for VGA screens?
Search keywords "vijay", "toggletoday" or "toggle today alpha" or something. I remember that with parameters You could shrink the taskbars by pixel size whatever You want. Also dcinobar is a small app that does it but haven't used it. GL.
Search for Nuenobar to hide bottom bar totally and vjtoggle today alpha II and resize your bar in the registry or use a LNK with -configure for parameter.
Thank you N'da and aiiro.
Actually I want to just resize them, not to hide.
N'da, do you now the registry key for size of bars?
copy vjtoggle.exe in \Windows\Startup then create a .txt with only this:
52#"\Windows\Startup\vjtoggletoday.exe" -configure
adapt the name of the .exe if it's not the same. Rename the .txt in .LNK use it from everywhere in ppc.
That really does't resize the bars evenly. It either resizes the bottom of the top bar, or the top of the bottom bar, leaving them looking uneven. Is there any way to equally size the bars, reduce the total size of the bar? There are 5 to 10 pixels above and below the words on each bar that we could regain real estate back.
go to the Questions & Answers section and you'll find a topic about this thing exactly. i answered there.
and please don't post questions in this section anymore.
Can you please send a link, I can not find this?
I know the nexus10 has a 2560x1600 Resolution but that includes the Softkeybar (Home, Back, Options) which we cant hide. We need the "real" usabable resolution so we dont get on trouble with image cropping etc.
Does anybody know exactly how high the Softkeybar on the Nexus10 is or what the "real" usable Resolution for the Nexus10 is? I googled already but cant find any usefull information.
Would be great to hear something from you guys.
Best regards
Philipp
Just a thought... take a screenshot. If it's less than 1600px high... minus the amount from 1600.
all screenshots i can find are 2560x1600. So that doesnt really help
I think it's 42dip.
for xxhdpi the ratio is about 1:3... So that would be about 126px (42px x 3).
EDIT:
Yep, this should help:

hm that confuses me. I measured it in photoshop on a 2560x1600 Screen shot and it was 96px. But i wanted to make sure so i hoped for some official info about that.
The DP stuff will be important when choosing sizes for UI Elementes but isnt relevant for the whole "whats resolution to work for" problem.
Isnt there any official Info about how many pixel of the screen height (in landscape mode) i loose to the Softkeybar?

This guide has some of the basic info for density calculations.
http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html
The value will be different depending on the device's current screen density, but below are the default calculations for the Nexus 10:
The navigation bar height is defined in framework-res as 48dp.
The device's screen density is defined in build.prop as 320.
The density ratio (screen density / android default density of 160) is 2.
48 * 2 = 96px so your measurement in photoshop is right.
You can also visually check using Settings > Developer options > Input subsection > Pointer location
Click to collapse
I just come back to say yeah it was 48dp. I had changed mine using AOKP to 42dp.
The above post is good info.
I don`t use navigation bar or the notififcation bar.
On aokp roms i hide them with gmd gesture control. Very easy to navigate with gestures and have the whole screen real-estate to apps.
Hi everyone,
I am quite new to the GSI world (never had to worry about it since most of my devices had dedicated custom roms).
But I am testing out GSI with the Lenovo Z5s which have similar design to Mi9 or Mi9 SE, waterdrop notch and rounded edges.
I noticed that the battery logo and clock looks a bit odd and should be shifted a bit. It looks like those cheaper phone from Oukitel, Dogee etc where you can see the battery logo is eaten by the rounded edge and notification icons might go "under" the notch.
Is there any apk app that would work on LOS based custom rom (meaning excluding MIUI, Flyme and other heavily customised rom) that would allow us to adjust position of clock and battery icon just by a little ?
I remember in CM7 we could modify battery settings to be left or right etc so it should not be so hard to modify with relative distance (like CSS % margins on web).
We could then have some kind of db file that would contain all default position values and dead zones for most devices and it would apply settings during install based on model ID from TWRP or fastboot.
New options could also be added to treble settings so each user could adjust it once rom is flashed.
Is there existing solution for this ?
Are there some roms that let us adjust these things ?
If no, do you guys have any suggestions/ideas on how we could address this issue ?
