I'm gonna root my phone today and wanted to know which is the best ROM and kernel for our device. I prefer stability and would like to have a balance between performance and battery life. For the ROM I would prefer some level of customisation. Thanks!

I'm using Havoc OS, its got the most customization of any rom i've seen so far, and i have tested quite a few! You can customize EVERYTHING to exactly how you want, most of the other roms have quite a few features missing and the theming isnt as good.
Its been pretty stable for me so far and its updated regularly.
I would recommend you to turn off Enhanced 4g LTE mode in network settings if you do a lot of driving because it seems your phone cant lock on to new satelites properly while traveling at high speed and you lose connection, not sure why it does this but its the same on every rom ive tried now, so i leave it switched off (4g still works) hopefully this will be fixed in future updates.

I couldnt really tell you what the screen on time is to be honest, i use my phone as a sat nav every day and it kills my battery as sat nav apps do, i get around 5 hours sot when using sat nav apps and playing music over bluetooth, it all depends whatt apps you use really! If you only use social media apps then your sot will be a lot higher

Hey guys,
I'd like to flash Nougat on my Bacon but I'm overwhelmed (& overjoyed) by the sheer amount of Nougat ROMs available for Bacon.
I like the automatic ROM update function of LineageOS due to its comfort but I guess all of the ROMs available will have their pros and cons.
I tried to read through as many threads as possible but in the end I figured that a new thread regarding the most viable Nougat ROM for bacon can't hurt since the other threads are about half a year old and a lot of development was done in the mean time.
So which one do you prefer?
Cheers!
I'm very content about the Tugapower ROM. OTA updates, no bloatware, active support using Telegram and G+. Never faced any issues and if you'd like to play PoGO, that's possible with this ROM while being rooted.
Slim7(unofficial version). Very minimal customization. Very good standby/idle. Doze works very well. SOT 4-6 hours.

Not to mention substratum theme engine support, which is vastly superior to the cm theme engine. Its also compatible with the new 3.10 kernel, allowing you run magisk hide and properly pass safetynet to be able to use Netflix and other apps that have the horrific safetynet DRM blockade.

The ROM is good, but there are various app crashes(for ex: when playing a movie for more than half an hour in MX Player) due to "GPU out of memory".

Which ROM do you recommend for daily use?
Pls describe your experience about your most useable ROM.
Battery, gaming performance, stability, sound quality, other stuffs.
Help each other
(and pls write, which phone you have x720, x722...)
I use Pixel experience ROM at this moment. x722
I like most the interface. It is quite stable and fast rom. The battery is awful like the other Oreo roms. .
Dolby works but there is not too much effect on the sounding.
I dont know why but all of tested 8.1 roms (on my phone) cause random heating at normal use (chrome, youtube etc).
I have tried several roms. here is my experience:
Mokee: for the first times it was like a dream. Fast goood battery, pretty stable. Later it started to go bad. I dont know why.
Lineage: simple rom quite stable battery so-so. Gameing its laggy
Aicp: I had very bad experience. Worst battery draining (about 60% mobile data standby) Donno why.

I got this standby drain alot on aicp so much that I had to put my phone in airplane mode. I've since moved to validus which has amazing battery life . 6+ hours of sot
AOSPExtended is my winning bet. It's extremely fast and configurable without being too much battery hungry. Sound quality is quite good with Dolby/Viper combo, good bass and loud sound, but it distortes a bit at high volume. I haven't used stock EUI nor other roms but Oreo, so I can't compare, but I'm satisfied as it is.
Last update (AEX 5.6) improves battery a lot, I can get over 8h SOT with moderate use (I used to get 7h in AEX 5.5.) Pity seems that it's maintainer has abandoned the project
I have never found a replacement for Turbo2012 EUI Custom Rom 21s v22.
Its by far the most stable and best battery life along with fast fingerprint reading and superior sound and great Camera.
Its over 10 months old and still beats everything else

If you want a the best performance and Android without customization, and no matter the Android's version you should install PARANOID.
The performance simply is of the Nexus but if you want a good ROM with a good perfomance with good battery I recommend you AOISP.

It's not for LEX720, is it?
---------- Post added at 09:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:31 PM ----------
For me, the best I've tested so far for my LEX720 is the Gizrom 1.4. Everything works perfectly. The battery is between 6 and 7 hours a day. If the use is low, it can last up to a day and a half perfectly. Is stable. The games move them without any problem. At the moment everything I've tried in Roms based on LOS has disappointed me quite apart from the simplicity in the interface that I do not like at all. It is much more pleasant to look at the roms based on EUI and it does not reduce any speed. If the comments here do not come out something that I like more, I doubt very much that it changes
I'd chose DOT (by Quavosh). I have very good battery and stable performance. I do not play games in my phone, just web, youtube and Whatsapp/Pinterest/etc.
In my test, AICP its the worst for my X727. Its Duty and battery hungry.
Dot is the best in my opinion. Battery is awesome

Please suggest me a Pie/Oreo custom Rom with best battery life
Arrow Pie, with extended kernel, works really well, and has excellent battery life (for me, at least.)
I have been using Arrow OS (Pie) since 1st build, it has good battery life, occasional hiccups here n there but no major bugs.
I am arrow os with pico gapps and Nova launcher from past 1 month And battery life has been great
Umm, what do you guys suggest a ROM for gaming and stability too?? And ambient display like the Stock ROM??
Thank you everyone for suggesting. As recommended I am using Arrow pie with extended kernel and it is working great.

I am not much of a gamer but for stability you can surely try Arrow pie os. I personally haven't found anything wrong with this ROM. Moto ambient display is Proprietary of Lenovo. You won't find the same in any custom ROM. For that you need to stick to stock ROM.

Source code bug probably. In other roms speaker output is very low and and 3.5mm jack output is very high. I'd rather choose high speaker output over high 3.5mm jack output.
I didn't get viper/dolby to work in this rom because of audiofx. If you can somehow completely uninstall audiofx then u can use viper to increase 3.5mm jack output.
I'm currently using Resurrection remix ROM. Its the most stable one I have used and am currently using it.

5 days from now my lavendar's bootloader will get unlocked. I've been in this game before when i had Moto G 2014. Changing ROM after ROM in search for the best one.
Most of you have already tried them. Can you please suggest me an ideal ROM for playing PUBG smoothly and also which has decent battery backup.
Idle battery drain in miui 11 is too high. That's the reason I'm unlocking my bootloader. Thanks.
i was using miui 10 ... then tried many rom, none of them did a good battery backup on my redmi note7 like miui10 did. but the speed (multi-task) was very good in every rom (than stock 2)
tried - hova. , cr. , linagous. , miuiMix (got the best brick tho by this one)
miui 10 had both speed and battery, but the thing i hate about it is, its way too aggressive in closing background apps

Some developers don't agree with XDA's hierarchy and move therefore to Telegram groups, Git's or any other alternatives. Specially Asian developers
