Which custom ROM are you guys using and for what reason? - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

I'm currently on Havoc 2.2 (7th February) build. The reason why I'm still on 7th February build is its performance, RAM management and battery life.
Just wanna know if there are other stable and daily driver worthy ROMs.

I am using the stock ROM on a locked BL. Enabled Naptime for better battery life, disabled bloat apps using adb and the phone seems fast and fluid.

Resurrection remix my favorite rom since i had lg g3. It's very stable and well polished

Btw.. how's the F2FS implementation? Is it worthwhile to try it or it's just all smoke and no fire?

everything as good as stock, if not better. Only problem is that 3.5mm jack volume is lower than stock. Using it with f2fs and the phone feels liquid smooth. One of the more underrated roms out there.

try it yourself and you'll see the difference. Maybe you may not see that much of a difference in other roms, but in rr the difference in speed it quite noticeable.

Source code bug probably. In other roms speaker output is very low and and 3.5mm jack output is very high. I'd rather choose high speaker output over high 3.5mm jack output.
I didn't get viper/dolby to work in this rom because of audiofx. If you can somehow completely uninstall audiofx then u can use viper to increase 3.5mm jack output.

I'm currently using Resurrection remix ROM. Its the most stable one I have used and am currently using it.

Very Stable Fully Working 32B ROM

Can someone please direct me to a very stable fully working ROM?
Or at least please direct me to the best official ROM to reflash this phone with.
As it stands this phone is the biggest piece of crap and I am sorry I got this phone as my first Android phone. My feature phone walks circles around this phone in speed in everything it does, music, videos, widgets, menu speed... the only thing it lacks is higher quality apps.
When it arrived 1.6 was slow, the OTA 2.2 update made the phone a papper wieght and now it makes me want to throw it.

I've been using gingeryoshi but i see from your other post that you seem to have problems. The 2nd in line was going to be COS-DS it seems to get a lot of positive response and looks to be head to head with GingerYoshi in terms of what people recommend.
Give it a shot and let me know what your thoughts are. Good luck
If you want a fast gingerbread rom then go with ezingerbread. Its a lot lighter and faster than all the cyanogemod based roms (cos, gingeryoshi, cm7-magpie).
However, froyo has less features and is faster. I'd recommend it if you want fast. Try the dreamteam froyo rom. Its nice. And i am not biased at all when I recommended a rom I helped develop /sarcasm
Senselx is a very good stable ROM, try that out

Battery lasts all day for me. Unplug at 7am, phone begs to be plugged in around 8pm.
Sounds good. I'll give it a try. Im using gingeryoshi and i love it, but it feels a tad sluggish for me. I hear this is quite a fast rom.
Just installed. Feels quick so far. I will let you know after i get it up to where I like my phone to be at with widgets, etc.
Think i would like something based on cyanogen mod. I wonder if FroyoDragon will run on 32b

Sorry to keep replying to my own thread, but NamelessFroyo is pretty damn solid . tvall i really liked your rom but i also really like the settings that cyanogenmod brings to the table.

Which rom did u install? which which SPL and Radio?

Skydragon or Oxyslim?

I am currently rooted and on hydrogen OS. I am not comfortable with the notifications thing or with the RAM management thing (If I close an app via recent app it closes the process completely, thus i don't get any notifications from the app). So thought of flashing a more global user friendly custom ROM. Only these two have all sensors working since they are based on Oxygen OS. Any advice would be good.

Are you kidding??? Why close apps via recent app? Not enough 4GB memory?
Hi, i can help you!
I tried the two ROM (with boeffla kernel 1.1 beta 3) and:
-if you want something with more performance and more similar to OOs flash skydragon (99000 antutu);
- -if you want something more dark with theme and something that works a little better than skydragon and OOs flash oxyslim (81000 antutu).
This is what i obtain with benchmark and my experience so feel free to flash what do you prefer! And always, good flash!
I prefer oxyslim; scored 98700 on Antutu using the lateset boeffla kernel which it comes with i believe. also seemed less buggy then skydragon and you can use the 2 extra zips from skydragon the rounded coners and s quartz with oxyslim
I have tried the two roms and after many tests i choiced Skydragon v 3.1, fast, stable and vey good battery, similar antutu scores between 95000 and 96000 but isn't really important, on Oxyslim battery drain is bigger.
Also on Skydragon we can apply dark themes from Maurydes, transparent and colors, very beautiful.

Who said you can't apply the theme elsewhere? There's no actual potential framework or SystemUI changes that could potentially at all affect themability, I moved to using the stock framework-res, just optimised in terms of images and with the replacement of the default wallpapers.

Not a single ROM on the OP2 should score as low as 69K, you probably throttled a lot during your tests, this may sound ridiculous but try making sure your phone is 100% cool before beginning to bench and bench the device after a clean boot in a freezer (crazy, I know), if you want a fair comparison, truth is you should find not so large difference, it'll very likely be pretty negligible (+- 0.5-2%).

It should basically be the same no matter whether you use a custom ROM or stock OOS, pretty much all of battery drained almost entirely depends on user config (kernel, wakelocks, apps) and users' actions.
Just randomly popped into this section of the for fun, hope I could somehow have helped.

@sewer56lol i reflash oxyslim with boeffla and do another benchmark with the same configurazione i have in skydragon and i have just a bit improvement (81000 vs 80000 OOs stock). I like very much the oxyslim ROM but for the moment i prefer to stay with skydragon, maybe when the 2 roms recive upgrade to OOs 3.0 base i will return to oxyslim!

I got 98k last time I tested personally, though not perfectly setup for the bench, all depends on user, device binning, throttle amount and BG apps etc. :^).
Though that was a decent while ago - I'm waiting to mod MM personally too .
Some guy had 103k, most typically 95-97k.
Have fun on the Skydragon team meanwhile .

I never say that on OxySlim or Skydragon rom, Oxygen OS based, we can't apply themes, I say only that Maurydes have created specifically for rro layers some Themes.
If you try to apply a lot of themes for rro layers, many of these doesn't work or make the SistemUI black and is necessary to go in recovery and delete relative files.
For the battery drain I'm sure, I have tried the two Rom with the same apps, utilities plus xposed framework and greenify plus appopps, no custom kernels or other changes.
In Skydragon rom battery drain was better.

Fastest rom for s7 edge?

I was searching for the best s7 edge rom but after seeing some youtube videos I realized that no rom is as fast as the stock rom, for whatever reason.
am I right? is the stock rom the fastest rom available?
I use the phone as my primary device so I can't install roms to test them myself.
thank you.
It's not as straight forward as that. Its more personal experience with your own device.
so I think I have to try every rom and test them myself.
thanks
AOSP feel smoother imo
If you are a TW fan , then you can try any ROM cos most of them are stable , I would Recommend Super Stock ROM with Stock kernel .
If you are AOSP fan , then you will have to suffer and wait some time to get used to it on your device , cos you will face some minor problems but it will make your life like a hell , I would recommend CrDroid ROM it's one of the best .

I'm using Havoc OS, its got the most customization of any rom i've seen so far, and i have tested quite a few! You can customize EVERYTHING to exactly how you want, most of the other roms have quite a few features missing and the theming isnt as good.
Its been pretty stable for me so far and its updated regularly.
I would recommend you to turn off Enhanced 4g LTE mode in network settings if you do a lot of driving because it seems your phone cant lock on to new satelites properly while traveling at high speed and you lose connection, not sure why it does this but its the same on every rom ive tried now, so i leave it switched off (4g still works) hopefully this will be fixed in future updates.

Looking for best ROM for gaming+battery backup.

5 days from now my lavendar's bootloader will get unlocked. I've been in this game before when i had Moto G 2014. Changing ROM after ROM in search for the best one.
Most of you have already tried them. Can you please suggest me an ideal ROM for playing PUBG smoothly and also which has decent battery backup.
Idle battery drain in miui 11 is too high. That's the reason I'm unlocking my bootloader. Thanks.
i was using miui 10 ... then tried many rom, none of them did a good battery backup on my redmi note7 like miui10 did. but the speed (multi-task) was very good in every rom (than stock 2)
tried - hova. , cr. , linagous. , miuiMix (got the best brick tho by this one)
miui 10 had both speed and battery, but the thing i hate about it is, its way too aggressive in closing background apps
Yup, as they said, for battery and gaming MIUI

Some developers don't agree with XDA's hierarchy and move therefore to Telegram groups, Git's or any other alternatives. Specially Asian developers
