Best Nougat ROM for OnePlus One in Summer '17 - ONE General

Hey guys,
I'd like to flash Nougat on my Bacon but I'm overwhelmed (& overjoyed) by the sheer amount of Nougat ROMs available for Bacon.
I like the automatic ROM update function of LineageOS due to its comfort but I guess all of the ROMs available will have their pros and cons.
I tried to read through as many threads as possible but in the end I figured that a new thread regarding the most viable Nougat ROM for bacon can't hurt since the other threads are about half a year old and a lot of development was done in the mean time.
So which one do you prefer?
Cheers!

I'm very content about the Tugapower ROM. OTA updates, no bloatware, active support using Telegram and G+. Never faced any issues and if you'd like to play PoGO, that's possible with this ROM while being rooted.

Slim7(unofficial version). Very minimal customization. Very good standby/idle. Doze works very well. SOT 4-6 hours.

Not to mention substratum theme engine support, which is vastly superior to the cm theme engine. Its also compatible with the new 3.10 kernel, allowing you run magisk hide and properly pass safetynet to be able to use Netflix and other apps that have the horrific safetynet DRM blockade.

Which 3.10 kernel are you referring to? Link?

Can you maybe post a link of the sultanized RR that you're referring to?

The ROM is good, but there are various app crashes(for ex: when playing a movie for more than half an hour in MX Player) due to "GPU out of memory".

You mentioned that aospext had better battery then omni.

It is mostly stable but Gesture doesn't turn off even when switching off.Although developer is busy with his studies right now, this bug can be fixed by reverting two commits.

What is/are your favorite ROM(s) for the G4 Play?

So I've been meaning to try out some new ROMs lately and I'm wondering if any of yallz have any favorites or recommendations to throw my way. Currently I'm running the latest Resurrection Remix build for this beloved device and have been stuck on it for a while. It seems many of our ROMs have stopped in terms of development so I'm looking for direction in what to try. Thanks!

Edit: How is it in terms of battery life? As of now I can go about 9 hrs with heavy use and no charge.

It's an efficient ROM on most platforms (typical for AOAP). I do not run it on my G4P as stock MM w/Xposed and a few kernel tweaks is a better match for my needs in this device.

I gave lineage a shot as one of my first ever custom OS's but it seemed to be lacking in customization. Last I remember there's no stable substratum support or anything of that sort and I love my colors haha. Maybe I'll give it another go though. Feel free to add anything to persuade me!

Yes I ran a deodexed MM stock rom for a while with xposed but I feel as if xposed gets messy (could just be me going crazy with the availabilities.) Definitely lots of fun tho. A couple hours ago I installed xposed over RR just to see what would happen and it didn't do me over like I thought. It worked well but xposed isn't the route I wanna take at this time.
Thanks for your answers!

Of the ROMs mentioned RR is probably the most customizable (w/o add ons) followed by AEX and Lineage. Each suits a different audience. Enjoy the hunt.
i have been on the rom that no one talks about much and i have been on it for months.i try to switch but keep falling back..its the VIPER ROM...its been very stable..good battery life...everything works..GPS is best among all roms..i dont know what they have done but i get a fix pretty fast...i am looking for an alternative but havent found anything that comes close in stablity and function.it may not be as customizable as RR or aospextended...but its very smooth ..even on stock kernel.give it a try if you may....https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620760488

[Discussion] Favourite rom and why?

Thought I'd start this discussion just for a place to talk about what rom we're all running at present, for what reasons etc. to perhaps offer and overview of what choices are available for our great device.
I'm currently on Oreo Beta 1 - runs very quickly with such impressive performance, loving the stock camera (though keen to see what future software updates can offer...), with my screen brightness down to 5-10% indoors and on WiFi I'm getting anywhere between 10-12 hours screen on time.
Will be curious to run Lineage when it comes official/stable and will love it when Google camera port is running nicely on our phones as definite enhancements can be had!

Nice! I'm curious of it, how do you find it compared to stock? In terms of speed (can't imagine this device being any faster lol), battery life and of course the seemingly dreaded question... Camera quality?
Right now on official OmniROM 8.1. It's fast, extremely stable, has excellent 10 hour screen on time for battery life over 1.5 days(my usage), and has excellent OMS theming support with nice minor OS tweaks and addons like OmniSwitch Recents replacement.
I was running official Oreo OOS but didn't care for the lack of proper theming, but the camera is a tad better and battery life was about the same. Maybe a little less than Omni.

Sounds good to me! Is it the case that some Google camera ports work better on none OOS ROMs? Also with OmniROM, can you run that encrypted?

Omni runs encrypted by default..

thats great. i can make use of my otg drive then..
i just need to start reading now coz im running my 5t stock unrooted.
Only ever used three ROMs on this device. First was the stock ROM the device came with (OOS 4.7.3), didn't get to experience it much because i flashed FreedomOS 4.7.4. I loved that ROM on my 3T. Had a lot of features. But i kinda lost interest because most of what i found useful in the 3T weren't yet implemented on the 5T ROM. And the dev took his sweet time releasing updates (not that taking time is wrong, it's just that i need my updates as quickly as possible). So i flashed OOS Oreo Beta 1. I'm loving it so far. I'll probably try out LOS when they release a stable 8.1 build.

But every ROM has its own specialities... So, try everything and have a good experience of all
I think pixis os is better than anyone because of less bugs, stable, and performance is better than any other rom,,you can play high end games on it without too much heating,,and battery performance is also good...
Coustamisation isnt up to the mark..but will add in future build...and its the fastest rom in updates..
So you can try it..

Yes, I can confirm that for example Pubg mobile works without any huge lags and battery life is good too. Just customization missing here, but it will be included in future builds I think. There's cool community and user friendly Development too I think, because OP is active and helps other users.

Which Pie/Oreo custom Rom has best battery life

Arrow Pie, with extended kernel, works really well, and has excellent battery life (for me, at least.)
I have been using Arrow OS (Pie) since 1st build, it has good battery life, occasional hiccups here n there but no major bugs.
I am arrow os with pico gapps and Nova launcher from past 1 month And battery life has been great
Umm, what do you guys suggest a ROM for gaming and stability too?? And ambient display like the Stock ROM??

Best Setup (rom+kernel)

so i am switching from pixel 2 xl and the main reason to flash a custom rom is OMS commits for substratum and i just took a look at the roms available and boy i am overwhelmed
can anyone suggest the perfect Rom+ Kernel combo for best battery life performance and you know the drill considering the rom must have OMS commits

I personally use Havoc and Either Franco Kernel or Smurf Kernel. Havoc is very feature rich and Franco gives good battery. Other than that SkyDragon is also good
This is what is working for me
Depends on your needs.
After trying many ROMs, Kernels etc.. I found that *for me* this is the best and most stable combination:
TWRP + Rooted stock 9.0.13 + Stock kernel + xXx no limits.
This phone is very fast so tweaking the last 5% in performance is not crucial.
Stability and battery life are what counts.

For the best battery and performance I'd definitely recommend SkyDragon rom. It already has the HolyDragon kernel built in, which has been made specifically for the Snapdragon 845 on the 6T.
I'm getting around 8 hours of SOT and that's games, streaming on YT/Netflix & browsing.
As for oms, you'll have to ask in the thread. :good:

It does. I found out.
I'm using OOS and Stock kernel. It is perfect. Smooth as always and I can easily hit 8H SOT with my usage. If i'm at low brightness i can get almost 10hrs which is crazy and enough for me. I have tryied couple custom kernels but difference in speed and battery is marginal.
