Hi,
apart for the lag issue I really love this phone!
I've now had this excelent phone for a few weeks, and I have a small list of annoyances that I can't seem to figure out
*using swype, there seems to be a small lag after you released your finger, until it displays the word. It's noticeable but not that big.
*Fonts in general are way to big, with this resolution, a smaller font system wide would be appriciated
*landscape mode as default when you put phone down on desk. juck! loathe it, do changing system setting override what apps uses? Some games uses landscape as default.
*I miss indicator that I've recieved a new SMS. Yeah I've installed handcent, but that blinking LED option doesnt seem to work. What I want, is something like the HD2/blackberry which has a small blinking led which blinks until you read the sms, and blinks even if phone is in standby mode
*Many apps seems to miss a proper exit option, leaving them reciding in the background, causing the phone to get slower and slower. Only option I've found is advanced task killer
*write&go app -> nice interface, and I would love to write SMSs in it, however it keeps nagging me to save the message I've written.
*any nice TODO apps?
*I synced my phone vs facebook, and now my phone is cluttered with a lot of contacts that I can't edit, and a lot of events in the calendar I can't remove. I've since removed syncing with calendar, but those events are still there. How do I remove them? And why can't I edit the contacts?
*How do you control which apps starts when you boot the bone?
hi
mots of what i write are things you will find in the development section of the I9000 on this forum
lag: install voodoo lag fix and rejoice, or install "one click lag fix" from market, and rejoice too (easier but not as fast)
font: ive seen something about changing the resolution but i lost it =( it's possible but it's some major hack.
landscape: some apps are coded for landscape and wouldn't display properly in portrait. for auto switch when both are supported you can lock the phone in one mode in froyo at least.
notification: search for "noled". the galaxy s has no led so other means are to be used. noled uses the samoled screen but uses a bit of battery. another one uses the backlight of the lower keys but im not sure if it works yet.
startup: you can change the services to be enabled/disabled inside the phone setting => applications, but i'm not sure if it's really what you want
for what i left out: i just don't know
this is a guide for Samsung mobile phones who'd like the function of LG tap to wake\lock the screen
using only apps and nova launcher prime.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su2WwTfH-y0
Tap to Wake/Lock screen Guide is for Samsung Amoled device Only\for all any device with amoled screen/
things you need to know before we start -
you'll have to use Nova Launcher Prime (can be purchased trough the free version) as your primary launcher.
set up your nova launcher prime as your default launcher and continue to the next step
The next step we will have to use two applications-
The first is
Screen Off And Lock
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...e/apps/details?id=tecnology.angs.knockr&hl=en...
Once you've installed it open up the application there are things set up and its easy to get confused,
set up the settings like i did one by one.
When you first open the app it will take you trough a small tutorial that will require you to create a simple Knock Code (Were going to remove this one later on)
When you're done you'll be taken to settings under the "Gestures Settings" menu -
all options are marked to do "Nothing" except
Double Tap - set it to Screen On
swipe right in the app to Knocks Settings - Do not bother to remove the code that is there by default - do not remove the code - instead set it to do nothing and swipe left again to the last and most important menu -Settings -
Fill \ Mark V according to the to my settings as the following -
Screen type - Black Screen
Power Management - V
Capacitive Buttons - V
Screen Locked - V
Action Type - Gestures (this is most important) !!!
Everything else is unmarked except the settings that are unchangeable by default.
were Almost done -
Returning to the settings menu in the Nova Launcher
Enter the Gestures & Inputs
scroll down and click on Double Tap
Now we have entered the list the top three sub menus -
NOVA - APPS - SHORTCUTS ׁׁ
Go to APPS and scroll down until you see
"Screen off" (not the "off and Lock Screen Configuration")
After we set off the Screen You can tap the screen two times and the configuration screen opens here - also follow closely after my settings (prove to work best) to preserve battery life and cause all this process to work like in the video
Screen off and Lock Configuration settings - everything should be umarked and all il sound options are Disabled (to my taste) - the only thing I marked was
Use relock workaround 1.
Everything else should not be marked (as recommended for better battery life)
This is it, you can start and enjoy your Samsung with LG's tap to wake
its not perfect but its very convinent
this is my first guide on xda!
edit: right now night clock is not co-operating with this tweak, if you want your night clock to work set the information stream timeout to 30 seconds or more.
while night clock screen is on tap to wake does not work untill it sleeps again or pressing the physical lock button.
works brilliantly - thank you
It's worth noting that these kind of mods will keep your screen digitizer on all the time and probably will cause a battery drain. just FYI

i assume that the black pixels on amoled screen does not trigger battery drain...
anyway on Lg's the digitizer has to work as well to acknowledge the double tap,
i am only a novice would be happy to learn, i really enjoy this function but will surely remove it if it hurts my battery life...
so is there any other solution?

He's talking about the digitizer which must constantly wait for touch input, not the display. He's quite probably correct.
it sleeps again or pressing the physical lock button.
Got me excited untill I read it was only for Nova Launcher.
Having one for Touchwiz......now that's a neat trick.
I miss it.....I still double tap my screen all the time.
Couldn't it be set to use the acceleromator (sp)? It wouldn't turn the digitizer on unless it detected a quick jolt? It would then need to be a 3 tap to wake so it could first wake up and then detect the 2 taps, but that's just a guess...

I'm afraid there isn't. All mods that make the screen work when the phone is in deep sleep will deplete battery life in some way. The information stream is one of them. My battery life improved substantially as soon as I turned this off. Anyway, we have a home button on this device so no need to reach for the power button in awkward places like other devices. Enjoy the home button and forget about these mods. Just my opinion.
i tried this on my s6 without nova and it work fine...the knock on work just fine...now need to monitor battery for a day or two to see if it drains abnormally. thanks @mosesbd for solving my only grudge with samsung phone...
I'm used this for long times ago, but it drain phone's battery. Because it just turns off the screen but not deep-sleep.
Update the links, the links don't work, but search for the apps in the app store and you should be fine
Not sure if the drain would be too much. My old BB Z10 I used for work had a similar function. Swipe up and it would wake and unlock. Battery was great.
The Lumia 1020 I use as my personal line has double tap to wake and battery life is great. Having the feature along with Glance didn't make much of a difference in battery life for me.
May or may not make a big difference on a phone that didn't have this functionality built in.
Thx thats great
Waiting for battery life reply
N i have issue
The back key n multitasking lights up when locking the screen. ..
Why ??

thanks, it should be fine now.
hello, compared to the gesture wake up which one drains more battery?
If screen is set for 15s, battery drainage isn't a huge problem. It's fine in my opinion on the latest firmware.
Do use this n enjoy tap-to-screen off
If you guys are worried about battery drain, then try this app out........360 Hibernation Master. I've had it for months now and it WORKS LIKE A CHARM! It basically shuts down all your apps when screen is off (including data and Wi-Fi), but you can STILL get texts (SMS & MMS), IMs, e-mails, calls, etc. I go to bed with 100% power, and wake up 7 hours later........ it's STILL at 100% (or else 99%)!!!!!!! The problem with Samsung's and other phones' "Power Saver Mode" is that they cause issues with incoming group and/or photo (aka, MMS) text messages, but this one DOESN'T! Costs $1.95 for full version (you upgrade WITHIN the app), but WELL worth it!!
Note: If you game a lot though, you MAY notice a slight decrease in speed. But if you're like me and NOT a gamer, then I think it will work just fine for what we're doing here. I haven't tested it though, so if someone wants and report back here, go ahead! I have the Sony Xperia Z3, but I just pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, so when I get it, I'll post back here to let you know if it works or not. But if you have a Samsung phone now, go for it! And let us know!
To those who are having trouble with the action memo function of their Note 4, specifically writing a partial memo, then minimizing it to collect more info (or just keep it readily available until the task at hand was completed), and as soon as the note shrunk to that little yellow-ish square, it vanished? As if the system was treating it as a running process but forgot to actually display the minimized memo? This problem prevents you from just opening up another action memo because again, the system thinks "I'm sorry Dave. I know you want to use action memo, but it's already running." in order to get it to come back up again you have to either reboot, or you -might- be able to kill a few S Note-related processes and get it to come back up again.
This problem frustrated me quite a bit and I couldn't figure out what was causing the problem until recently during my toying with the developer settings, I decided it looked and felt much better when all three of the animations were turned down. The phone still showed a little eye candy, but got things done faster at the same time. All three of them set at .5 worked well for me. However, for some reason when those animation settings were set lower than 1, the action memo minimization animation would shrink (pleasantly) quickly into its little square, causing some kind of hiccup with the system and then it poofs. I fixed this problem by changing the animation settings to 1 for all three. Inconvenient, but I get my action memo back, which I use daily.
Just a tip I hadn't seen on the Note 4 forums that I wanted to add for any others experiencing the same issue and wondering how in the world to fix it.
Cheers!
Doesn't work for me on both 0.5/1x
It is an annoying issue.
If anyone else finds a solution to that, please post here.
So it still vanishes when you minimize action memo, even though your animation speeds are set to 1?
I'm sure this is a simple fix, but it has confounded me, so I turn to you for some help. How do I get the Moto on the latest version of AW to vibrate like normal, but rather than display the full screen notification, just the smaller card across the bottom? There are times on the 46,, Moto I don't want the message displayed without me swiping up to display it. I've looked all over and I can't find that setting.
I can see the whole "hide cards" and what not, but when I get a new notification, it fills up the entire screen.
Thanks in advance!
Same problem here. When I receive whatsapps sometimes I can see the full screen notification message and most of times I see a small notification at the bottom and I need to swipe up to see it. Samsung Gear S with newest Android Wear version and Note 3. Any help with this?
Any ideas? I can't believe there's no way to control this, or no one else sees it as a problem? With the 46mm watch it's a BIG screen, making the entire message visible to anyone within eyeshot
This is driving me nuts. Any time an application crashes I get a red overlay with diagnostic data that covers the screen. The only way I can remove it is by rebooting. As I'm typing this it's covering my screen! Help me find the setting to get rid of this please
Attached are screenshots showing the various examples. I literally froze every single user app and a few system apps I could except for Chrome and it still happened so I'm certain this is part of the latest os update
Another example showing that it doesn't rotate
Bump. It's very annoying

Have you accidentally activated some drawings or debug within developer settings? Or any task manager with overlay (check your processes)?
I assumed I might have enabled something like that and went through all the settings looking for it but can't find one.
I also used titanium backup to freeze every app on my phone until there were only a few systems apps left and it still happens which leads me to believe it's some feature in the os
