Good S5 dump to bad S5? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 2 identical 900V's and one is pooched. It wont get past black S5 screen, but can boot into download, recovery and even safe boot screens. I have flashed it back to 5.0 with ODIN, took the flash no errors, deleted cache, NAND, factory reset, everything I could do to get it to boot. even flashed the PIT with the OG PIT file found online. No other firmwares will flash except the 5.0 without an error. I have another 900V that is working (no SIM, not authorized on a network, just a wifi toy) and running 6.0.1. Can I dump the PIT file, and the firmware into a file and send it over to the frozen S5 via ODIN? It just wont get past the first screen no matter aht I do to it firmware wise.

[Q] Can't go into recovery. May have softbricked.

Hi there. I think I soft-bricked my phone. I am running mf3 firmware on my i337 galaxy s4 and i tried to flash Graviton. I was using safestrap and I, like an idiot, didn't use a romslot and did it over my stock. Seemed to work fine until I actually booted the phone. It can't access wifi and therefore wont go past the find wifi screen. I try to enter recovery but it just keeps going to the download screen. After trying every way I could find I still cant either wipe my phone or flash the stock firmware. I have tried kies and odin but nothing works. Can anyone help me out or am I royally screwed?

as long as the phone can go into download mode, you can use odin to reflash the stock firmware (and factory recovery). Check samsungupdates for your model/region and stock/official firmware. You'd have to re-root after. I did the same thing a while back, lost my recovery and this is the method I used to bring my phone back to life, was just sitting at the samsung logo and had no recovery (but had download mode).

Does Odin recognize the phone? Also, when you say it won't go past the "find wifi" screen, does that mean it booted to the "Welcome" screen?

Sorry should have edited the first post. I actually fixed my original problem and am now having a different one. I got all the way through nd did a restore of my stock rom. I then tried to flash the graviton one to a different rom-slot in safestrap. So now there is a completely different partition in the storage and the flash didnt work so I'm now completely stuck in download mode. I have tried to flash the tar files in odin and it fails every time. I should have all of the necessary files for mf3.

If you have the 16GB Galaxy, try flashing this file in the PIT slot in Odin.. Don't put any other files in the PDA slot, etc. It's worked many times when phone would only boot to download..

Hey Nerdyblonde, what does this pit file do?
I softbricked my phone when trying to flip from CWM to TWRP. (Thought I could just wipe phone and odin flash on top of CWM... VERY WRONG). Now I can't get into recovery and my phone is telling me to use kies recovery *shudder*. So I tried kies when I couldn't Odin flash to stock rom and still nothing.

Sorry it took a few days to answer.. The Kies screen was the same thing that happened to me... I have the MF3 version, so I can't install custom recovery, but I couldn't boot into recovery period. I flashed that pit file in the pit box on Odin, it restored my recovery.
Do you have MDL or MF3? If you have MDL, I would be really careful not to flash MF3 unless you want to stick with basically stock until one of the geniuses here figures out how to unlock the bootloader.

HELP! Need to reinstall stock firmware on Galaxy S5! (SM-G900W8)

I was running CM 11 until it decided not to work, so then genius me, I went in to TWRP recovery and decided to wipe EVERYTHING. I have nothing left besides download and TWRP recovery mode. I am using JOdin on my mac, but that has only ended in failure as I can neither retrieve a pit file or use one that I have downloaded as it continuously comes up as corrupt. Does anyone know how I can get a non corrupt PIT file?

[Q] My i9500 soft bricked going from Chinese 5.0 rom/pit to other stock 5.0 rom/pit

Back in January, like other people I got the Chinese leaked version of android 5.0.1 with the 4 files for odin and the changed partition file for more space.
Now I tried to go back to my country's stock rom rooted like it was before with 4.4.4 so I used the i9500_ru.pit partition along with the file I9500ZSUHOC2 tar.md5 file for my country along with a newer bootloader and modem. I couldn't find a csc file.
It kept freezing or slowing to a crawl then restarting later so I flashed twrp and was going to wipe everything and install from a zip file but it kept soft booting and only being able to go to download mode.
I flashed the adonis.pit with the same I9500ZSUHOC2 tar.md5 only but it seems like it has the same outcome.
When I hit the home or power button it takes at least 5 seconds to respond then goes back off almost immediately since there's some delay.
And it keeps showing the samsung logo nonstop if I flash in twrp through odin and try to go into recovery mode after that.
I dunno what to do? Is there some other partition that would work better or did I mess up big time?
TLDR:
I went to Chinese 5.0 ROM and 16gb partition and tried to go back to my country's ROM with russian 8gb partition and my Taiwanese stock 5.0 ROM
Now it's lagging or freezing then occasionally restarting and soft bricks sometimes. What can I do?

G900F keeps rebooting at startup screen

I have a Samsung S5 G900F, bought from vodafone on payg. Long story short, it is under warranty, but when I took it to Samsung they said the knox had been tripped. I'm going to pursue this with them, as this phone is used by the mrs and (as far as we know) has never had custom software on it.
Anyway, it started randomly rebooting a while ago, and I tried updating the software with kies, which seemed to fix it for a while. It has now gotten progressively worse, to the point that it is not even getting past either the boot logo, or as part way through the boot process (samsung logo etc). Occasionally, after a cold start, it makes it to the OS, but then reboots shortly after.
I've now tried using odin to install the stock firmware (vodafone branded - G900FXXU1BOJ1_G900FVFG1BOJ1_G900FXXU1BOJ1_HOME.tar.md5). I've also installed philz custom recovery (tried twrp too), and then to install a custom rom. Ive tried cyanogen and phoenix. They install fine, but the phone continues to reboot when starting up. I've not yet managed to get to the OS for either custom rom.
The phoenix rom also came with a bootloader/modem package, which I have installed.
I've run out of ideas. It's probably a hardware fault. But is there anything else I can try before binning it?
Thanks.
KNOX is definitely tripped now even if it was not before (Custom ROMs, and Recovery trip KNOX)
Anyway, you could try flashing the G900F PIT file along with the stock ROM, and see if that helps, the PIT file will 100% delete and recreate the phones partitions, before flashing the ROM, so if it was a firmware bug, that should fix it, if it still does it after that, I'd say hardware
Google G900F PIT file
Add it to the PIT section in ODIN
Add the stock ROM to the PDA or AP section in ODIN
Flash and hope for the best
I tried the PIT file. It flashes successfully. However, the stock rom still fails with "auth SIZE" (cant remember the exact message). Does that mean I've used the wrong PIT? I can still successfully flash custom recovery and then a custom firmware, but the boot loops continue.
Can you double check in download mode, which model S5 is shows?
I expect it to be G900F, but a few people have had something other than what the sticker and box say
And as long as you downloaded the G900F PIT file, then you flashed the correct one
If everything matches G900F, and it's still doing it after flashing PIT, Custom and Stock, and stock is complaining about the wrong size, it looks like something corrupted your phones internal storage
There are manual ways to recreate partitions etc, but you'll have to search them out

pit file for verizon galaxy s7

Alright I was wondering if some kind person could post the pit file for the verizon galaxy s7. This is what happened. I flashed the g930u files with odin and everything worked fine with root and debloated rom. Then, I wiped cache and wiped data factory reset and flashed the t-mobile rom, and it worked. But hear is where the problems began. I tried to flash back both the verizon rom, and the 930u unlocked rom, and they wouldn't flash using the PrinceComsy odin or any other odin for that matter. So, I said, well I'm stuck and flashed the t-mobile rom again, part by part, because when I tried the whole thing, it wouldn't flash either. Then at reboot, nothing. So, I flashed the pit file with the t-mobile rom, and the whole thing flashed in one wop, but still after boot, nothing. I used the pit file because I read in another guide it would get a t-mobile device back up when flashing it with the t-mobile rom, and no other rom would flash. So, I guess my last hope is that someone will have the verizon pit file or the original verizon rom.tar.md5 not one with out the pit file. If this doesn't work, I think I'm screwed. Please post it if you have it or if some one could pull it from there device.
Thanks
got it all working but on t-mobile
Alright, got everything working, but I want to share the final result. Flashed t-mobile pit file. Then flashed full t-mobile rom and pit file together. Of course wiped data and cache before doing any of this. Now just like a t-mobile phone, including band 12 and wifi calling. Can not flash back to verizon though, with out pit file, just for anyone else that wants to try this. I don't have another verizon phone to gather the pit file from, so, t-mobile is fine especially with unlimited data.
