I dropped my phone on a treadmill after a workout, and now the screen will not show anything. The phone itself worked, and I was able to answer a few messages via my smartwatch. I was able to do a hard reset, but that was not successful in resolving it.
I also opened up the phone to check the display connector. I reconnected and put everything back together, but unfortunately that did not solve the problem.
What is the next step? Replace the screen itself? I'd like to know if anyone else was able to resolve the issue by simply replacing the screen. The screen is $150 and don't want to spend that amount if it's not a guaranteed fix.
Yes I have searched here and on the oneplus forum with no luck

I am quoting a fellow user's problem which happened to me as stated. I had to send my unit into the service center which they claimed that they had to reloaded everything but resulting the sytem to hang after that, and had to replace a brand new motherboard: Can someone enlightent me why did it happen and how to prevent such things from happening again.
I am encountered a problem with my D810.
I was loading a Sudoku game and after that my touch screen stopped responding, and the TODAY pull-down menu kept flashing on and off. But all the buttons working fine.
Tried to realign screen, but problem kept recurring, even after removing the new programs installed.
Soft reset many times, yet to do hard reset.
When connected to PC, the connection only established for a short while and dropped off after a while!
Now things got worse, my PC now can't recognise my D810 at all.
Could some one please help out here?
Thank you.
Not sure about the PC but sometimes a screen protector can get between the case and screen and it can put pressure near the start menu. Also, the actual phone case can do this on rare occasions. Check for clearance with paper. Hope that helps.
My Wizard is brand new first off and I haven't done anything to it but install the t-mobile cabs, a spb program, and a few other random things.
Problem (It just started doing this): I can align the screen and it will stay right and aligned for a few minutes but then when i write on it the alignment will eventually veer off on the right side just a little bit. When I pick it up at first normally it writes fine and then it starts acting crazy, sometimes it will write somewhere completely different than where the pen is on the screen, or when I go to press a button it will press the one under or over (mis-aligned). I can even write on the screen and the cursor will go completely crazy and all over the place when I'm trying to draw a straight line. I searched for firmware updates and topics on the issue and didn't find anything.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks
I had a iPAQ that started doing this after a few weeks. I had to send it in for a replacement. Call T-Mobile about it.
My 8125 (wizard) does this every once in a while. If I let it sit for about a minute then it seems fine. I think it is pbar program that is doing it. Just haven't removed it yet to find out.
You might want to do a hard reset to bring it back to the way it was when you got it and use it for a few days to see if that does it.
Yeah I have actually read up on the topic now and it's a known issue.
It's mostly a hardware issue, so I've narrowed it down to the screen being a little bent. Just a tad.
When you take your finger and rub it over where it's bent or just across the screen in general sometimes it fixes this error. That's about the best fix i've found yet that actually works.
This is driving me nuts too
Hi!
I have a Cingular 8125. Bought it in Nov 2006.
I have been facing a problem with the alignment as well since the past week.
1) Whenever I try to tap the target, nothing happens. I have to do a soft reset to start using the phone again.
2) Have hard reset the phone twice in the past week, but the problem still persists.
3) If I am adding a new contact, wherever I press an alphabet, the 4th or 5th key to the left of what I press gets displayed.
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Fix Screen alignment
Hi,
It happens to my 8125 each time I turn it on. The only way that I could solve the problem is disassembling the unit and remove the front cover. Clean the borders of the touch screen and remove any particle. It solved the problem.
So Yesterday for no reason at all my 8525's screen went white. i thought it had frozen or some thing but it didn't snap out of it. I pressed the ok button on the side and could hear noise. I decided to restart. Nothing. Did this like 7 times. Finally I let it sit without the battery for like an hour. I worked but the colors were all messed up. Reset and it worked fine. So i set my alarm went to sleep and woke this morning to an email and a white screen. Turning it on and off a couple of times did it and I was already frustrated.
Then I read on a forum about Activesync automatically opening throughout the day to try and connect. So I tweaked that to manual connections. Still the same. So I decided to take advantage of the warranty but I needed to set back my rom b/c as you already know, it voids it. Also thinking that re-flashing might get rid of whatever it was failing in. No, still the same, and now worse. As or an hour ago, my navigation pad doesn't work either. It actually works for about a second when I turn it on and then after I press anything on the pad or surrounding buttons, it's gone.
I really would like to fix it myself at least for now and use the warranty exchange at about 11 months but if theres nothing I can do, I guess I can go get a new one. Also, I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I downloaded Google Maps to my phone yesterday on the road (through 3G) and that was the only new program installed( I think it mightve been this).
Has this happened to anyone else?
Any help would be much appreciated. I hope I explained enough for anyone to respond. Thank you in advance to anyone with anything really.
Actually if you do a search under white screen you'll find many entries. Any attempt to fix yourself will void the warranty. If you are lucky it may only be the d-pad connector that is loose. This it is possible to check yourself but if have a warranty then I suggesting using it.
Otherwise see the link to my site in my signature for dismantling and service manual guides.

Thanks. You know I think I will take advantage of the warranty sometime this week. I don't know what happened. But I'm to update my situation. It now seems as though my directional pad seems to be the problem. it glitches on and off and using it sometimes creates the fade-out to white screen. I have to let it go to standby on its own to get my screen back or play around turning it on and off for a bit.
Also, once i re-installed me ATT rom with no applications, my screen seems to be off. I have a 1/32th sliver of the bottom of the screen at the top of my touchscreen. Even in landscape it shows my scroll bar and everything. I didn't even drop it but it is now slightly skewed down. Any input on this?
I also found this website talking about the same problem having with and unorthodox solution (which I tried to no avail). Here's the link if anyone want to check this out. http://www.htcwiki.com/page/AT&T+8525+Display+issues:+Display+is+dim,+blank,+white,+has+lines,+etc.?t=anon
Anyways, I'm gonna call ATT about this see if they can help but I think I will replace, I just didn't want to so soon.
Thanks again for the quick answer.

Everything they suggest on that site you have tried I guess, the soft and hard resets etc.
I agree with you about the d-pad (directional buttons). Those with this problem often report that the d-pad or it's connector are re;lated to this issue.
Pleased you have chosen the warranty route. You see evn if you opened it up, it can work for a short while and then return again. Also push hard for replacement not repair. They may do this automatically but if not try to persuade them. The reason is that quite a few folks have reported that even after an HTC repair the problem can come back. Actually I think there may be more than one physical cause of this issue and sorting one thing does not mean it won't come back via another route.
The good news is, if you get a good one as I did on the second attempt, I never had white screen or alignment issues - despite heavy use.
Mike
Once again, thank you Mike for all your input. I will be issuing an order for replacement instead of repair. Being at work all day today I've seen that it hasn't "whited' out, if you will, but has actually kept working. Ever so often the d-pad goes but comes back in a few seconds. It may be due to the WM6 i had on it so for now i will keep the original ATT upgrade of WM5 and try to hold off on the warranty as long as I can before it expires. That way I can enjoy a healthy new 8525 longer.
For now I will keep looking around in these forums and see if there ever is a solid solution. Thanks again, and good luck with all.

Thanks for reading.
I'm currently using WM6.1 on the phone, and loving everything about it.
Since day 1, I've used a phone lock code, along with PIN1 code.
When unlocking the phone for after say an hours inactivity, the keypad will show, then the screen will go blank only showing the top bar of the phone.
Any press of buttons and screen will just make a beeping sound, and so far nothing I've done will restore the keypad to unlock the phone.
Is there anything wrong with the ROM i have, and is there anyone who can suggest how to correct this?
Please remember, the top bar still shows, and a reset allows the phone to work as normal (once logging back into it of course).
Thank you,
Hi guys,
Sorry to bring this back up, but this problem is still going on.
Not sure how to resolve it, so hoping someone would know how to solve this.
Thanks,
Posted twice for some reason.
Maybe is a sw failure,(50%) try to reflash with this fw: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3625023_6275_1540700_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe
if your hermes its from att/cingular. after flash open and close the tap of hermes, if the blank screen continues or return this, the failure is hw (the flex component broken, bus, pcb) in this case you need to buy the spare part or send to sat.
good luck
other possible solution

Hi there,
Its not white screening, or anything else, I think the next time it does this, I'm going to have to take a picture, to make sure it can be understood clearly.
Basically, when bringing the phone out of standby (from pressing off/on button) and attempting to enter my pin into the phone the phone will allow me usually to press at least one number of my pin, and then it'll black screen, where the start bar still displays, but no response.
The handset isn't problematic when being opened for use, or anything else, its just annoying to have to reset to load the phone back up again.
I hope this helps?
Further to the above, here is what i've been talking about...
Happened last night, typically as I was bored, and had to wait till morning to take the photo...
Still no movement on this post...
Would it be suggestable to upgrade the install of WM?
If it is, how easy (will read guides beforehand) is it to do (reasonably, hard etc).
Just this is now my only phone, so don't fancy my chances bricking it.
Thanks!
Sorry to be posting yet again, but this has now happened 3 times a in row since last night. I wouldn't mind knowing if a rom fix would sort this, and if so whats the best rom to go for...
Just keen to get this sorted now...
Thanks.
If it helps, I've nothing running when this happens. The exception of last night, where I was using Audio Manager when walking home, and had to soft reset once in the door.
Hi
I am almost certain you have a software fault here and need to reload a new ROM - take your pick - my preference is schnaps - it isnt that hard to do and should solve your problem
Just go to the Windows upgrading section on here and follow the process - you will be happy

So a searched everywhere and could not find a thread where a similar question has been asked, if so I apologize and please redirect.
My Nexus 10 screen will no longer power on. The tablet will vibrate if I attempt to power on and power off but the screen is unresponsive. I tried connecting it to my PC to see if it would register and sure enough it registers as a media device (that rules out dead battery). Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going on with the tablet? How to fix or what to replace?
TIA
Hi,
If the screen isn't turning on, then I'll give you a wild guess that the problem is with the screen. Did Android boot? Did you see the Google screen popping up when turning on? Did your tablet fall in the floor recently? If the problem is really the screen then it can be that it either died (then you will need to replace) or some cable disconnected.
Try opening it and checking if all the cables are well insterted. There are plenty of videos of people doing that on the internet you just need to search .
Good luck,
~Lord
Tablet has never been dropped (no dents or cracks). The Google logo does not appear on boot. It is possible that the screen has just stopped working but just seems odd. The main reason I posted this was to see if anyone else has experienced something similar to this. I agree with your suggestion about opening up the tablet and checking all of the ribbons to make sure everything is properly seated and that nothing is loose, I just know that's a lot of work and wanted to see if anyone had positive results doing that before I get started..
Thanks
