NST Reader - stock dictionary (Oxford GB) - Nook Touch General

Hi there,
for some reasons I have lost my Oxford stock dictionary (ox_en_GB.db) in /system/media/reference/
Would anyone be so kind to share a copy of it with me?
Thanks
M.

Surprisingly the UK 1.2.1 update zip is still available from B&N. You'll find your dictionary in there.

A *huge* thank you for that!

I never really thought about anything but the two English dictionaries. Very provincial of me. But I would start looking in the same place: the update zips.

Thank you for your promptly reply.
I hadn't thought about the update zips, because I didn't expect that it has the optional dictionaries due their sizes (I think all the dictionaries are around 120 MB in total).
But, I will take a look at them.
ETA: It seems that only the English dictionary is shipped with the update.

Actually, it seems that only English dictionaries are shipped. Period. I've been reading older threads on this topic and there are many on creating your own dictionary by taking public domain files and massaging them into the correct format, but no one ever mentions "stock" dictionaries in other than English--except in one post and I can't find it again. I was hoping to search on the file names given, but can't get there.
Anyway, I think finding the files (if they ever existed) is a very long shot.

Aurora ICS keyboard languages, spelling and prediction.

It looks like the keyboard doesn't have a dictionary yet, and there are only a few languages on the spellind menu, and they don't appear to be working.
Is it just me or this is normal and dictionaries are missing?
The words that come up are very few and very different from this video here, for example: youtube watch?v=48RRFvWpsss (cant post links yet LOL)
Is there a way I can install dictionaries or should I just use another keyboard?

[Q] Android 4.2.2 stock keyboard dictionary problem

Hi guys,
I have the same issue on every 4.2.2 ROM I tried. I'd like to check out the new swiping JB keyboard, but I can't get the Polish optional dictionary to work. Have you tried any downloadable language and succeeded? It says it's downloaded, but when typing the dictionary is empty (only contact names) and swiping doesn't work.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions - thanks in advance.

I use SwiftKey but this should work for you as well. Go to System / Settings / Language & Input and find the keyboard you are using (may have scroll to see it) To the tight of the name tap the icon for preferences. Sample in the keyboard's preferences you should be able to find languages. Change it.

Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
Yes, I did it. Changing it doesn't make it work in writing. Only contact names still- that's the problem.

You're not alone! It is a real bug affecting lots! For me the issue is that all the APKs I find are all like this! I'm writing a more informative text which I will finish and post tomorrow hopefully. In the meantime, could someone extract a version of android keyboard where it's working and post it?

Samsung TTS High Quality voices - could somebody with S4 download and share them, plz

Got few
APK and voices here (need to register to download)
APK is tailored to work on any Android ICS and above, not needed for SGS4 obviously.

It could, but unlikely (IMO).
Voices are relatively big, there no need to pollute /system partition.
And it's mounted R/O usually.
Anyone got them yet?
GraceHD goes to /system/tts/lang_SVOXP, see the screenshot

It's unlikely that the data for system apps (such as Sansung TTS HD voices) will land into an unprotected folder, such as /sdcard/.SMT
But, we will see, if somebody with S4 phone in the hands will help us to get the HD voice data

Congrats! :victory:
I thought the awesome voice my Asus TF700T had was just a result of the JB operating system, then I got my S4 and hated how the navigation voice sounds. I wish I knew what Asus used, because the S4's voice is terrible. I also had that Grace from SVOX on my other Droid and the trial sounded great, then I bought it and the voice was entirely different and also sounded like garbage.
Why doesn't it just use the GoogleNow voice? That's what navigation sounds like on my TF700T.
EDIT: Looks like it may have the Google one after all now that I checked in the settings...
Yep, there it is. Derp.

2. Do I need to install SamsungTTS_0.0.3 & SamsungVoices, If I have to use EkaterinaHD voice?
Am new to this, don't have much idea how to install these TTS files. I've downloaded them, and they're in downloads folder on Nexus.

On my Nexus S, I can't find /sdcard/.SMT, there is no folder as such. But am able to locate system/tts through Root explorer. So, I'll go with that folder structure.
I checked on that original site for instructions, found them, but since they're in Russian and Google Translate doesn't do very good job, it gets very difficult to understand it. I also found from that site, that EkaterinaHD is a Russian voice, something I don't need. I need English US HD quality voices only. Can you personal message(as not possible to post here publicly) me the installation instructions in English language along with suggestion of which voice is best for English US in HD.
Thank you.

Add languages into a 4.4.2 custom rom

Hi!
I'm from the g pro forum and I have some questions to the dev's from g2.
Well, I need to find where are the languages/config files from a European rom and how to implement that languages in a US custom rom with the objective to give the user's from all places having her native language available in the rom.
I already searched for all places and I can't identify that files or configs, because the g2 have the same base I'm remember asking here for help.
Thanks in advance

the phone languages are in the framework-res.apk located in system/framework; basically all the values folders are a language folder and you can add more languages to this by placing the new values folder with the abbreviation of language and the arrays/bools/plurals/strings.xml files and after recompiling going to system settings languages and there will be a new one there; pretty straight forward and if you want any assistance I would be glad to help

just to update on this a little late but here we go, the Portuguese values folder name is values-pl and the other folder is values-pl-rPL
the second framework you shared did not have the Portuguese values in it (the one which ended in vupmp)
so here are the modified frameworks which should include Portuguese language; let me know how it goes :fingers-crossed:

sorry for late reply today has been a really busy day, here is zipped framework(not flashable) with Portuguese although I am not sure if it is also Brazilian based or just Portuguese; I can get you the files and you can actually translate the stuff to your liking but it can take a long time since there are many words that would need to be translated
Seems to be Portuguese of Portugal! Thanks a lot!

You probably need to 'root' it and replace at least one of the "standard" fonts (in /system/fonts) with one that has all of the Polish characters. I think there are several threads on XDA with instructions to get alternate language fonts on a Nook.
