Hello guys,
Was wondering if there's a way to remove or hide unused languages in Swype? Atm I need only english and russian, but since the russian is on the bottom of the list I have to scroll a lot every time... any ideas? Thanks in advance!

i'm bumping this one
Just scroll your finger from the "i" symbol (on the left) to the letter q (indicating also the language) and you will toggle between the two languages.
Swipe from the swype key to the top left key to quickly change between your two last used languages. No need to delete other languages.

Thanks, thats very useful. I couldnt find this trick in the tutorial though
Still,
how can i actually remove the languages? they take a lot of space, and all i need is romanian i can imput english words myself. can anybody give me a tutorial on how to erase other languages on the .apk ? i tried opening it with winrar, deleting the unused languages, and even changing the assets\files\languages.lst, figuring english is installed by default i left it and it always gives an error when installing, can anyone tell em what am i missing? a friend provided me with swype 1.6 with en and ro but i'm ready to upgrade and whant to know how to modify my own.
thanks in advance

I have to bump this Question
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775503
Hello guys, as described in the title, i've reworked the generic.kcm file to give an italian, french and greek generic layout for the keyboard.
Ampinto has ported the portuguese layout, so a big thank to him for his work
It's not 100% perfect, but work pretty good, tested on 3.1 acer rom, taboonay mod V.1.0.4.
I would say a big Thank to Salleq that was first to modify Generic.kcm for his language.
That need root access
the installation it's really simple:
1. With a root explorer, go into /system/usr/keychars
2. Make a backup copy of the file Generic.kcm
3. copy the new Generic_(language).kcm.txt into the mentioned directory
4. Rename Generic_(language).kcm.txt into Generic.kcm
5. Fix permission read / all, write / proprietary, exec / none.
! IMPORTANT !
I'm not responsible for any damage or problem occurred to your device!
I hope that will be usefull for someone
Update: fixed accented letters, download again the file to get the update
Update-2: Added initial release of french (AZERTY) layout, must be tested, i haven't an azerty keyboard...
Update-3: Updated french layout, download again to get update. Fixed two wrong keys on french layout, please, report if find wrong or missed keys.
Update-4: First release of greek layout, must be tested for fix wrong keys, i haven't a greek keyboard, so, please report me any problem and it will be fixed.
Update-5: Fixed French layout, now work!
Update-6: Added Portuguese layout, credit for this goes to Ampinto.
I would be gratefull if someone try the french and greek layout and report me a feedback for fix it!
Thanks

Thanks for that, you are quick! I can't try the greek one immediately, as I am away from my desktop, but I will as soon as I can.
It would give you a lot of work to implement a Portuguese keyboard?
Many users would appreciate.
Thanks a lot.

It looks like the keyboard doesn't have a dictionary yet, and there are only a few languages on the spellind menu, and they don't appear to be working.
Is it just me or this is normal and dictionaries are missing?
The words that come up are very few and very different from this video here, for example: youtube watch?v=48RRFvWpsss (cant post links yet LOL)
Is there a way I can install dictionaries or should I just use another keyboard?
still there is no dictionary able in code when every dzo get the code he must put in rom
we need to wait
thanks for dzo great work
Try Smart Keyboard )
it's awesome and better

Hi guys,
I have the same issue on every 4.2.2 ROM I tried. I'd like to check out the new swiping JB keyboard, but I can't get the Polish optional dictionary to work. Have you tried any downloadable language and succeeded? It says it's downloaded, but when typing the dictionary is empty (only contact names) and swiping doesn't work.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions - thanks in advance.

I use SwiftKey but this should work for you as well. Go to System / Settings / Language & Input and find the keyboard you are using (may have scroll to see it) To the tight of the name tap the icon for preferences. Sample in the keyboard's preferences you should be able to find languages. Change it.

Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
Yes, I did it. Changing it doesn't make it work in writing. Only contact names still- that's the problem.

Yes, I did. They work just fine. I want to see the new stock one and I can't in my language.

You're not alone! It is a real bug affecting lots! For me the issue is that all the APKs I find are all like this! I'm writing a more informative text which I will finish and post tomorrow hopefully. In the meantime, could someone extract a version of android keyboard where it's working and post it?
Hi there,
for some reasons I have lost my Oxford stock dictionary (ox_en_GB.db) in /system/media/reference/
Would anyone be so kind to share a copy of it with me?
Thanks
M.

Surprisingly the UK 1.2.1 update zip is still available from B&N. You'll find your dictionary in there.
A *huge* thank you for that!

I never really thought about anything but the two English dictionaries. Very provincial of me. But I would start looking in the same place: the update zips.

Thank you for your promptly reply.
I hadn't thought about the update zips, because I didn't expect that it has the optional dictionaries due their sizes (I think all the dictionaries are around 120 MB in total).
But, I will take a look at them.
ETA: It seems that only the English dictionary is shipped with the update.

Actually, it seems that only English dictionaries are shipped. Period. I've been reading older threads on this topic and there are many on creating your own dictionary by taking public domain files and massaging them into the correct format, but no one ever mentions "stock" dictionaries in other than English--except in one post and I can't find it again. I was hoping to search on the file names given, but can't get there.
Anyway, I think finding the files (if they ever existed) is a very long shot.
