Connecting HTC Magic to car stereo

Hi everybody,
I am wondering if someone knows if it is possible to connect the HTC Magic to the car stereo (via USB).
Now that I have flac support I would like to try it in the car stereo.
Thanks
I have mine connected via the CD changer port on my Clio.
The Magic is connected via one of these: Jays HTC Y Splitter
The EXT USB goes into the Magic, the USB connector goes into the USB charger and the female EXT USB goes into usb to 3.5mm jack which connects to the "Connects2" audio adaptor for the CD Changer which fools the head unit into thinking there is a changer connected and gives you a line in.
All this is behind the dash and only a couple of cm is showing to plug the Magic into when audio and charging is needed.
It sounds great when listening to music or podcasts and GPS instructions are clear as well. When connected and you get a call then it shuts off the music and routes the call to my BT headset seamlessly.
One thing I would point out is when I first put it in, I got a high pitched whine rising with the engine revs. I found this was due to the earthing of the charger and the alternator. It is called alternator whine and I fitted a ground loop isolator to the line in which cured the problem. All in all it took about an hour and £30 or so and works brilliantly.
Hope that helps.
I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't be able to connect using an actual USB cable (like you connect to the computer to charge or copy files with). Your head unit would likely be expecting an iPod to interface with.
What you CAN do, if your stereo head unit has an "Aux" input is connect an audio patch cable from the Aux input to the headphone adaptor that your phone came with. If you don't have one, try this link.
You will, of course, have to control the audio from your phone and not the radio head unit.
More expensive, BUT have a look at the Parrot Mki9100 Bluetooth hands free kit. Supports bluetooth stereo streaming, plays from a usb stick (and controls an ipod)

HD2 And Ford Sync

Has anyone here tried their hd2 with the ford sync system? i have tried and looks like i can only lisen to music via bluetooth. I was hoping i could connect via the usb but either i am missing something or it just does not work....any success stories out there?
hi i have an hd2
on my 2010 ford flex with navi
it works great, it charges with usb plays music through usb and Bluetooth audio works
the only thing that is annoying me is that you can read text massages thought it
when you plug it in via usb in your car set the phone to sd card not active sync
when it gives you the option
I use it in an Ford S-Max 2007. Crappy car with crappy bluetooth. And no A2DP. It works acceptable with normal calling.

Car stereo + vibrant, what do you use?

Currently, I'm just using the aux port in my sony head. It has a USB port that is "ipod" ready. I connected the vibrant to it and set the usb mode to "media player" and I could play music just fine, but charging was almost nonexistent. It shows that it's charging but the battery percentage did not rise over the course of 30-45 minutes, and it was at approximately 35% when I started. I'm guessing perhaps the usb port isn't supplying enough voltage for charging purposes so I'm trying to find an alternative in the mean time that doesn't require plugging in a separate car charger and the aux audio cable. Has anyone had any luck with using a blue-tooth usb receiver in their stereo and transmit the audio from the phone that way? Just curious what other people are using for setup. Please share!
i just use my 3.5mm aux-in on my car. Works great for me. No charging of course, but I have a short commute.
I have a 2010 Ford with MS Sync installed.
Streaming bluetooth audio works flawlessly, as it did with my G1. You do need to control it on the actual phone, which is a pain because you know, you have to drive and all, but I guess that's how you would do it through a line-in as well (I have USB-in that works with my Zune so I can control my media though my steering wheel and by voice command, so I'm perhaps a bit spoiled)
But anyway, the audio will play fine, and if I get a call, the media player will pause, I can answer and talk, and when the call is ended it resumes the music.
I have a Sony Xplode and use bluetooth to stream music. Work well for the most part but taking calls on it sucks.
I use the aux port and a usb charger for longer commutes.

[Q] Problems when connecting headphones or to Aux port

Thanks in advanced for any answers, but this has been bothering me. Whenever I play music and then connect to an aux port or or headphones the music is still playing through the phone and then to make it play in the headphones or aux I have to disconnect and reconnect from the phone and the headphones or aux port. Also when I plug into aux/ headphones the symbol appears then disappears then I have to unplug everything for it work. So, I am wondering if anyone else has this problem of continuous lost audio connection and a way to fix. Thanks

Streaming Audio via USB

Hi Guys,
Tell me, is it possible to play streaming audio (Spotify/Play Music/Apple Music) via the USB cable to the car stereo? Reason I'd like this over AUX is that I get to skip using the steering wheel. Worked fine with my old iPhone but can't seem to get it to work with the S8. It happily plays any music stored on the phone, but streaming audio doesn't work at all.
Tried setting the USB mode to 'audio source' in the developer options but this way my car (Ford with SYNC) just says 'USB device not supported'.
Any way around this?
