hi everyone i need some help

ok so i have the t-mobile mda but i unlocked it a while back because i have cingular... i was snowboarding the other day and when i took my phone out it wasnt wet but it was really cold and it was acting funny...now the volume button on the side starts my camera when i try to increase the volume and my front buttons arent really working anymore...i just updated to the latest OS and now its running even worse than before and my basic phone service isnt even working now...any suggestions?
Sounds to me like maybe some condensation got in there. I'd do a search here to see how other people handled water in the phone. Some used alcohol, some removed the batter to prevent damage and just let it dry and some weren't able to recover.
sounds to me it got frozen and or water inside which shortcutted the circuitboard hence giving strange signals. Let it dry without battery a couple of days and try again. but it problably is the end of your phone. Maybe u can open it and try clean it.

"Half-bricked" trinity after lcd broke - bootloader still working

Hello,
I'm facing the following situation:
I droped my Trinity and the LCD broke on the left side pretty bad. It booted fine after that (the LCD was still visible on the right side) but after 10-15 seconds it just froze. The hardware buttons were not working, nor the touch commands. I could only rest the phone with the stylus.
I successfully replaced the LCD by myself and now I'm stuck with the freeze. I was hoping the freeze will disappear but I have the same symptoms as before.
I tried a hard-reset but after that the phone froze during the booting process with the logo on the screen.
I entered the bootloader and connected the phone to the PC. It worked just fine and the freeze didn't occur anymore. I uploaded a new ROM but again, during the booting process I got the goddamn freeze.
I was hoping that everything beside the LCD survived the crash but I'm starting to have second thoughts.
I would appreciate any advice or hints on how to find what could cause my problem.
Thanks
If its freezing up on you then I would imagine you've caused some hardware damage.
Like you, I would have hoped that replacing the broken LCD woudl fix it, but there's nothing to say you havent partially damaged or dislodged something else, especially if it was a high-impact drop...
PS
I wouldnt try doing any more uploads to it either if I were you. If it freezes up during one of those then you could end up trashing the program area of your device too!...
Hi guys,
I had quite the same problem, without braking the lcd but anyway it fellt from a airplane onboarding bridge :-( and then it has started to randomly freeze.
I think I may have found something. I've noticed that when I press strongly the battery it's not freezing anymore!
I've opened the phone and saw that under the little metalic protection's plate there were a contact plate between a little black component and this metallic protection'splate. I've cleaned it, apply some thermal past (like cooling artic) and the I've put a little sheet of paper between the plastic frame and the metallic protection's plate. I've all remounted.. And surprise!!! not one freeze since two day!!
I hope it will last.. but if yes this s F### great
ähm.. I release any kind of responsabilities concerning this action. I'm not a professional but as soon as it has work for me I wanted to share it ;-)
Seeeervus!!
Dodjob.

Water Damaged G1?

I spilled water on my phone they other night in my sleep. When I awoke the phone was still on but had frozen up. Upon a reboot it locked up on the splash screen and with a couple more tries it locked up on a black screen. Eventually I got it to boot to home but the touch screen isn't working and I'm getting force closes when I try to open any apps. I tried leaving it in uncooked rice to absorb the moisture overnight but I'm still getting the same problems. Anything I can do?
There are two very important rules when electrical equipment is soaked.
1: take the battery out as quickly as possible so it shuts down and doesn't short.
2: LEAVE IT OFF UNTIL COMPLETELY DRY! This can not be stressed enough. Having it turned on with water inside is like trying to kill yout phone intentionally.
I find the best way to dry it is to take of any covers, batteries, sd-cards, sim cards ad anything else you can easily dissasemble, and then leaving it in an oven on 40-50 degrees overnight. Electrical stove is kind of neccessary for this though, unless you have a gas stove with good temp adjustment.
If I bought a cracked LCD G1 and replaced the digitizer with the one on my broken phone (touch screen isn't working) it should be fine right? There are no actual electronics to the digitizer screen, right?

Theoretically, that should work. Haven't done it so I cant account for it.
However, how will that stop the FC's?
No, you misunderstood. I plan to buy a functional G1 with a cracked digitizer and use my old digitizer from the water damaged phone to fix it.
Nevermind, just found out the glass has some electrical parts to it and that's probably what I shorted out. Guess that's out.
I had my phone in my pocket when i went on a drunken creek walk. Long story short I pulled my battery had the same problems as you. So for my fix I wiped flashed a new rom then wipe again for good measure. Stopped force closes and works like a charm now.
read my post here for water damage if it happens again....

Well I did a Nand backup to no avail but I havn't tried a full wipe/format. Maybe I will give that a go and see if it helps. Did your touch screen also fail?
I'm currently using the G1 my brother dropped in a toilet. It accidentally turned on when he was removing the battery. It's really odd that the phone is working 100% at the moment.
Give it a few days before you rule it dead.
My sister dropped a RAZR in the toilet one day (Stoopit!) so my dad took it out (no pee in derp), hair dryer, rice, window, BAM!

The left side of my screen did not work for about 5 hours after I placed it in rice. Some say you need to keep it in rice for a full day or so. Basically take out the SD card, sim card, and battery and place the rest of the phone submerged in rice for at least 8 hours or so. Then try the phone.
BTW, my phone was acting sluggish ever since then so this morning, I did a factory wipe of the phone and things seem to be working normally. I also copied the SD contents and formated the card.

screen got wet by sweat? temporarily broken?

Hi, i got a stange problem with my HD2 a while ago..
Its summer now here, and a while ago, i was talking to someone using my HD2, we are talking about 20mins then my ears and hair got sweaty. After the call, my phone is slightly wet by my sweat but not too much, but then my touch screen isnt working..
I tried to reset and remove the battery but the touchscreen goes wild and unresponsive, touching everything and moving everything through out the screen..
after an hour, the touchscreen is working properly again, (i hope, as i was typing this, its already 1 hr and its still ok.. hope it continous..)
Is it because of my sweat that accidentally goes inside the device/lcd/touchscreen and started acting wierd? or is it my touchscreen already busted?
Do touchscreen get temporarily broken if it gets wet? then returned to normal as soon as it dried out?
thanks!
It might have just been the heat and not nessecarily the sweat.
The HD2 does not like the heat very much. So Ive heard....
No hope of mine overheating in Scotland thats for sure
Either way, I'd be prepared for it to happen again at some point.

[Q][SOLVED] 2 broken phones -> 1 working phone

Hello
I just broke my seconds Nexus 4. I am trying to see if it is possible to put parts together to make one working phone myself.
The one to the left have a screen damage, and the digitizer broken (touch does not work).
The one to right one is water damaged (red ring of death). It died a few months ago. It went for a swim in a pool. I could not turn it off, so it was wet and running for many minutes afterwards.
I’m just not sure what to do next. I’ve watched some youtube videos. It looks very hard to move the screen.
At the moment I am thinking about moving all (?) parts from the phone with screen damage, to the water damaged screen.
Do you guys have any other ideas? It’s the first time I do something like this.
Thanks.

Just change the mother board from the one with the screen damaged to the water damaged, if something else don't work as it should, just move it too.
+it's not that difficult: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFzbfeY_xTQ
Thanks.
I managed to fix it. So happy !
What does it look like?
