Ok, so long story short, I made a nandroid of my wife's water damaged LG G2 (turns on but touchscreen screwy) and restored it to her brand new LG G2...that is...I restored ALL the partitions...including EFS (yes, major id10t).
So the IMEI zeroed out and she was getting "G" data service only.
After following these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701861
I was able to restore her IMEI, and 4g returned, however, only briefly. After 4-5 minutes with working 4g (and not changing anything), it switches back to "g" or "e" and stays that way. Each time I restore a nandroid (without the efs this time), it picks up 4g and then it switches over to G/E permanently. I'm guessing the network is detecting something wrong with the device..but what?
I know I must've really stuffed the EFS partition, but before paying the LG service center to fix it, is there anything else I can try??
Edit: Just restored a tot from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
No luck, imei is still there but still on G/E for data.
you probably have tried it already, but have you tried lg flash tool? under recover from a bad flash

Thanks mate just came back to report and saw your suggestion.. have literally just flashed a Korean kdz with lg flash tool and for some reason it wiped my IMEI blank. Went through, re-wrote IMEI, 4g is back up, it's been up for almost 30 mins now which I'm pretty sure is longer than usual. Hopefully that's fixed it!!
EDIT: and as I submit my reply, it goes back to G/E
Update: Tried the official LG mobile support tool. 4G came back up, everything looked good, aaaand its just switched back down to G/E again.
Update 2: When I switch network mode from GSM/WDCMA/LTE auto to another option (GSM/WDCMA auto, WCDMA only or GSM only) and then immediately back to LTE, it reconnects to 4G, and will stay on 4G, H+ or 3G for as long as I am using data. Once I stop browsing (after 1-2 mins), it goes back down to G and I have to go through the same process to get 4G back up. Still confused as fheck
Hi
Last june I finally got my new Redmi 2 Pro (HM2014819, ergo the Brazilian version) and as soon as it arrived, I decided to reflash it into the latest available Nexus Experience custom ROM. Before that, though, I managed to check that my phone did had access even to LTE networks.
Turns out the GPS got weird because I supposedly didn't attempt to fix it before in the original ROM. I tried the the modemst1/2 format trick and it also didn't work. So I flashed MIUI7 over it again in an attempt to get a fix in the original ROM.
When I got back to MIUI, all celular/signal data was gone, along with my IMEI number (probably from the modemst partition wipe). I had to struggle a lot and I finally was able to recover it using this tutorial. However, as I just noticed recently playing Pokemon Go, 4G networks never came back even though I'm up and running on both H and H+ networks.
Using QPST and QXDM, I delve further into the QCN file and I could notice that the LTE values were actually set for Redmi2 PRIME version, which are Asia-related basebands 3 and 40 (meaning the actual LTE value in binary had 1's in the 3th and 40th bytes). However, the Redmi2 PRO version supports South America-related LTE bands 2, 4 and 7, as GSMArena points out.
Using this information and following this guide, I also tried to change/write over new Decimal values that would match my required LTE bands, but to no avail. When manually selecting networks, only 3G networks show up, even though I'm sure I could see and even pick 4G networks manually when I first booted up my (at that time, unmodified) new Redmi2.
What did just happen? What CAN I do?! How can I recover the intended, factory original version of the brazilian Redmi 2 networks?! Is there something to do with modemst2 erasure, or IMEI loss, or even NON-HLOS.bin file? Aren't they all overwritten when you reflash MIUI through MiFlash anyway?
Please, PLEASE, help me! I'm already on the brink of purchasing another cellphone (and it won't be another Xiaomi, that's for sure) if I can't get this to work. I did purchase this sorely because of the 4G connection and now I lost it entirely. Come on! :crying:
damn.... i've done this mess of erasing modemst's too and got the same problem. VERY LUCKY of me, i had a twrp backup that i did some days before doing this. hope you find some solution to this and dont give up on xiaomi just for a mess that you did xD

Igor, do you think you could at least share your modemst partition and/or your QCN file? I could use this to find the differences between my modem configurations and set it exactly as the brazilian's factory default modem.
If you're worried about IMEI scamming, then a simple printscreen from certain screens on QPST/QXDM will suffice, since I can tell what's wrong from them. If you're willing to help me (and have a rooted device), please, do tell and I can walk you through how to get them. Thanks!

Follow this tutorial.
My signal came back but I'm having frequent signal loss. The only solution is to turn on/off airplaine mode.
I've to send it to tecnical assistant but I don't want to stay without the phone.
Acttually I'm not sure if the 4g works, because my city only supports 3G. When the data connection is on I don't loss the signal.

That's the exact tutorial I've followed to recover my IMEI. And I even mentioned that in the OP, bud. My problem happened after that. Please read more carefully.
Sorry, I just saw the second link.

Oh gosh guys, I hope you can help me too! I've got the exact same problem with my HM2014819!
Did you manage to fix that?
Hi the exact same thing happened to me, I had no mobile internet at all and I fixed that qcn stuff but all I could find was asian versions, I get no 4G network and I have no other brazilian file to compare. If you managed to fix that, please please share, thanks a lot.
I have been getting terrible radio drops on baseband 03.84. I am on Oreo with the latest November security patch. I downloaded several older radio img files to try. I also found an app called FlashFire. Is anyone familiar with it. I wanted to know if I can flash the radio img files using it without problems. Thanks.
Don't do it with flashfire !!!!!!!! I did flash the bootloader two days ago with flashfire and had a hardbrick. ( Like a lot of other people trying to flash bootloader and radio with flashfire )Yesterday I spent a lot of hours of reading and with big luck i got my phone unbricked, but that's not always the case.
Don't be lazy like me, flash bootloader and radio only with fastboot to be safe. For the rest flashfire is a good app.

No. FF is a great app for updating your phone(s) every month, retaining root and custom recovery. That said, it is not intended for flashing protected partitions (like bootloader and modem) and Chainfire explicitly points this out in the documentation. A different radio is unlikely to help you. You may want to lay out what carrier you are on, your geographic location and what you have tried already such as swapping SIMs from a different carrier, and signal data you get from a app like LTE Discovery.

Thanks to both posters for stopping me from using Flashfire to flash radio. I appreciate your questions, if you can offer any help that would be great. I'm on Verizon, in the Orlando Fl area. I have tried new sims, the one I have now was a replacement from about 2 months ago. I looked at LTE Discovery, sitting in my living room I'm at -114 dBm. What other data is useful for me to look at. The issue I have is many times I go to 0 bars of signal and calls drop or I can't connect to call. Looking for any solutions to this. I like my 6p, had it for 1.5 years, I would like to keep it longer but not if it keeps performing like this on phone calls.

Very few on Verizon complain about signal strength. They do rightfully complain about the many other things the Red Devil does, but signal strength is usually not one of them. I've found LTE Discovery to be useful in knowing what band I am on, what tower I am connected with, best signal strength location within my home/office/pub, what bands work best and when I get stuck with ****ty signal.... I can reset the network and it locks to a different band. This happened at my local pub all the time until they got excellent wi-fi. The phone would not give up (release) a poor connection and search for a stronger one. You can play around with Open Signal as well. They have a signal strength coverage map that is real-time crowd sourced rather than carrier propoganda. Once you have collected your data trends, you could then also try a different carrier for a day or two. Those Verizon specific images/radios simply contain additional support for Verizon specific add-ons like VVM and HD calling, etc. They won't make your signal better.

Thanks, I flashed an older radio and don't see any improvement. When I use LTE discovery and cycle the radio on and off it changes the band and my signal seems stronger, but then it reverts to the weaker band. Is there some way to lock it to the stronger band?

I've read of a root hack but can't remember where exactly. I think it was in one of the Indian threads. I'll look around. I still believe this is probably down to the carrier vs. hardware.

Do you have any efs partition backup with TWRP, if yes, try to restore it with TWRP.
Edit: for some guys it help to remove simcard and reboot the phone without, don't ask me why.

Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly, but the modemst1 and modemst2 partitions are not part of any Google image, they are protected and unique to your phone. You may or may not have backed them up previously with TWRP. If you did back them up, you can restore just those two partitions. If you did not back them up previously, you can try deleting them and letting them rebuild as in this article.

So you used the fastboot method and deleted the partitions, and it completed on reboot (re-wrote) the partitions... what confirmation did you get it was successful?
At this point, and in order to rule out hardware, you should fastboot format system, userdata and cache. Use the latest 8.0 full image with the included flash-all.bat script. Until you do this (including formatting the partitions) you cannot rule out the motherboard. If this does not fix it, the problem is hardware related and not worth repairing on a used 6P.

I decided to flash stock ROM again after having some camera issues on all Oreo ROMs. I have done this process many times and my PC is all set up to do a stock flash. This time after flashing stock rom for my UK g5 plus, I booted to no signal. After repeating the stock ROM flash a few times and, trying a few APN options and switching to 3g and back to 4g with nothing working, I realized there is a problem. After this, I tried going back to 8.1 pixel and Nitrogen, which did return my signal but, no 4g only 3g.
I'm a little confused as to what is going on here, no custom ROM flash can leave any effect after fastbooting stock to my knowledge. Any ideas?
How to
Credits @Castell93
Step by step:
1. Flash TWRP.
2. Flash Pixel Experience rom if we haven't flashed yet.
3. Turn on phone with flashed rom to obtain network signal
4. Here we will get the IMEI and only have 3g signal, so we need to restart the phone in bootloader mode and type in fastboot "fastboot erase modemst1" and "fastboot erase modemst2", these two command will give us IMEI and 4g signal.*
5. Turn on Pixel Experience again to obtain 4g(verify it pls), shutdown and enter Recovery mode (TWRP).
6. Do a backup of EFS and install stock rom.
7. Restore EFS backup and enjoy.
* NOTE: It's very important to turn on the phone once flashed Pixel Experience to obtain IMEI info and turn on again to obtain 4G.
This works to get 4g but volte no longer is working (used to be fine on nougat). I'm using TMobile usa

So, are you able to get back the 4G mobile data (4G LTE) at least?
Yes, I get LTE again, but not volte. Sad
Currently, all Oreo roms are causing this issue because they seem to update IMEI info and the modems. Once an Oreo rom has been flashed, there is no way to get voLTE back at the moment, however 4G can work again (with the method above). This issue will probably not be solved until the official Oreo rom is released by Motorola.

Trying using the QCOM option in the fastboot menu. Have been stuck on 3g since late 2017 and finally got it back by selecting that option which reboots me into the OS with working 4g regardless of what rom I flash. Don't know if it will work for you but try it and let me know.
Hi everyone,
I've been having a problem since yesterday morning. Everything seemed to be fine with my phone before I flashed a custom rom. I was using at the moment MSM Xtended and I flashed the latest version of CrDroid. After flashing that other custom rom and booting, my phone had no network signal. All it reads on the status bar after that is just "No service". Of course, I removed the SIM card and reinserted it many times but that did nothing.
I've already tried flashing another rom (the latest AICP rom) and even going back to the one I was using at the beginning, but still nothing. I even tried reflashing the NON-HLOS.bin file and erasing modemst1 and modemst2, but it didn't do anything either. I also tried flashing this deodexed stock rom and booting. Interestingly, that kind of fixed the problem, since it recovered its network functionality. However, after reflashing an Oreo custom rom, it loses it again (actually, I've done that a few times today, but the last time I tried flashing the stock rom, for some reason it didn't fix it anymore). I don't know if in this case it's worth mentioning it, but I've tried checking my IMEI on both, custom roms and stock rom, and it's never been 0 at any moment.
TL;DR: My phone lost its network signal after flashing a new custom rom and I have no idea why. If anyone could somehow help me, I'd be really, really grateful.
I have had this happen so many times it is not crazy LOL. The best you can do is find a rom that it happens the least. For me it has been AOSP extended. Signal has been great. It is a bug that I dont think the devs even thought would happen with 8.1 roms. It will happen to everyone at some point if we stay on these 8.1 roms i guess until we get a workable 8.1 stock rom. There will be those who chime in saying it nevver happen to them but it will eventually.
Well, it's nice to know I'm not actually the only one then, I guess. But is there nothing I can do? Since I can't seem to get it fixed even by flashing the stock ROM anymore and flashing AOSP extended didn't seem to help at all either
I know brother there is no rhyme or reason it just happens. I am hoping when 8.1 stock comes out for us there will be a new batch of 8.1 custom roms without this problem. Right now i am on extended and havent had any signal problems for a few weeks so who knows.

Okay. Luckily enough, Oreo stock ROM doesn't look like it's gonna take too much more to arrive... Or so I hope, at least. Thanks
I was using LinageOs and it was working great. Then I decided to install DolbyAtmos and for that I flashed Magisk . Suddenly i had no network but my sim cards were detected , IMEI was there but no network on either sim whatsoever. I tried reflashing the LinageOs and PixelExperience ROM but none worked. So I tried flashing(ADB) the stock firmware only to lose my IMEI . After reading this post I tried Debloated ROM and my network was back. I should have stopped at that point but I tried to return back to stock again and lost IMEI again and now I have tried Dbloated,LineageOs , PixelExperience , AOSP Extended , but none helped me getting back network . Now I am stuck with this phone with no network , I had a backupp of my system before I flashed Oreo ROMs (with EFS) so I can get IMEI back but no network. This phone was my daily driver and now I have no idea what to do.

Hi bodies,
You can turn off your phone,
Go to fastboot menu by pressing and holding power button and volume down button in the same time.
Roll to "Restart Bootloader" with volume up/down and validate with power button.
Now select start and the network is back.
see you !:fingers-crossed:
