Stuffed EFS partition - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so long story short, I made a nandroid of my wife's water damaged LG G2 (turns on but touchscreen screwy) and restored it to her brand new LG G2...that is...I restored ALL the partitions...including EFS (yes, major id10t).
So the IMEI zeroed out and she was getting "G" data service only.
After following these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701861
I was able to restore her IMEI, and 4g returned, however, only briefly. After 4-5 minutes with working 4g (and not changing anything), it switches back to "g" or "e" and stays that way. Each time I restore a nandroid (without the efs this time), it picks up 4g and then it switches over to G/E permanently. I'm guessing the network is detecting something wrong with the device..but what?
I know I must've really stuffed the EFS partition, but before paying the LG service center to fix it, is there anything else I can try??
Edit: Just restored a tot from here:

Thanks mate just came back to report and saw your suggestion.. have literally just flashed a Korean kdz with lg flash tool and for some reason it wiped my IMEI blank. Went through, re-wrote IMEI, 4g is back up, it's been up for almost 30 mins now which I'm pretty sure is longer than usual. Hopefully that's fixed it!!
EDIT: and as I submit my reply, it goes back to G/E
Update: Tried the official LG mobile support tool. 4G came back up, everything looked good, aaaand its just switched back down to G/E again.
Update 2: When I switch network mode from GSM/WDCMA/LTE auto to another option (GSM/WDCMA auto, WCDMA only or GSM only) and then immediately back to LTE, it reconnects to 4G, and will stay on 4G, H+ or 3G for as long as I am using data. Once I stop browsing (after 1-2 mins), it goes back down to G and I have to go through the same process to get 4G back up. Still confused as fheck

Force 3G only / Droid Pro on Three (3) Mobile UK

Hi everyone,
Just switched to 3 Mobile UK from Virgin with my Droid Pro and having a very random issue ... I cant make any calls. I can receive calls, write sms, receive sms, use the internet - the whole lot, but I am just not able to make any calls whatsoever! What happens is that when I dial, you can see the seconds counting up sometimes, but there is no sound whatsoever. I popped the SIM into my old HTC and that works just fine. I was wondering what the issue was for that?? I am trying to force the phone to stay on 3G only as I feel that, even though I have UMTS only selected in settings, it wants to make calls using 2G which 3 (being an all-3G network) obviously doesnt support. Any ideas of what the issue could be?? I started playing around in the hidden ##program menu but there is no option to play around with GSM settings, only pointless CDMA/EV-DO stuff ...
Anyone got an idea? I should say that I am running the latest OTA Gingerbread ..
P.S. It also crashes when trying to make a call .. just FYI
Why dont you flash back to Froyo 3.8.7 and see if the updated Radio image from Gingerbread has not spoilt anything in the phone?.
But be careful and do not do the mistake I did. First go to recovery, restore froyo backup and then flash sbf. That should have you booting in less than 10mins. If you do not restore froyo through recovery then RSD will not recognize your phone. Even if it does it will not flash the SBF.
All the best. Report back.
I think that 3 have an agreement with some competitive carriers to use their networks when a 3g signal is not avaialble. Maybe you phone sees this as roaming. It's a long shot but try turning roaming on. You never know.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA App
I just really wish there were some more options to play around with the basebands on the Droid Pro ... now I have resorted to doing a factory reset and starting fresh, and now the damn thing cant even get any signal whatsoever ... When looking for available networks i am only able to find the normal 2G networks (Orange, voda, O2 and T-Mo).
Right ... so using Recovery, u mean the mode you enter using the update.zip?

P.S.: There is so many ways of doing this .. could you point me to a guide that worked for you? Also, could you go into detail when you mean to restore the froyo backup. When flashing the updates I didnt make any backups if thats what you mean. The Recovery mode also only shows a few options like wiping cache, data, applying update and so on ...

What i meant was to restore a nandroid backup from ClockworkMod. It is the droid bootstrap you install. You go into that restore froyo backup and then pull battery. Then click RSD on your computer load sbf and connect your phone by holding volume key to enter bootloader. Once this happens the sbf will flash then you can easily boot to froyo. If there is a problem in booting then just pull battery again and enter stock recovery by holding keys R+M and powering the phone and do a data wipe. Let me know how this works.
If these dont work then we can try to flash radio images from other motorola phones. I remember flashing an India radio image for my defy when I came to India and then going back to europe radio image when I went back to europe. It should work however that will be a last option.
Hey.. well I guess 3 just wont work with that phone, the limited settings for GSM/UMTS make it virtually impossibile for force 3G calling and disable 2G. I am switching back to T-Mo where I know it will work...
What happened was, that due to my extensive modifications to ##program settings, rooting and some GSM apps I was running, my phone decided to pack up yesterday morning and give me the red M of evil -- so I went thru the whole process of sbf flashing and now I am back on a 3.8.7, after updating from 2.26.2. Maybe you can explain just for better understanding what the benefits are of doing the restore thru bootstrap as you explained?

Need D801 LG G2 QCN File to restore 4G LTE

Does anyone have a generic QCN file for QPST?
Lost my IMEI # on a broken screen Tmobile G2 (D801) I'm fixing when I flashed my own nandroid and forgot to uncheck EFS Data in TWRP.
Did this process to restore the IMEI.
Everything works but now the phone only gets 2G.
If someone has a generic QCN file they can share (remove your IMEI of course) that would be so awesome!
You would be a God send
Was able to fix this.
Ended up rooting the G2, loading my 4.2.2 Nandroid back on it to recreate the EFS IMEI problem and then using EFS Professional to fix the IMEI #.
Rebooted popped in the sim card and got 4G LTE. Rebooted again 3x and voila...it sticks every time
Problem solved!
Ok....so the problem is back again...
After I made 1-2 calls, the phone reverts back to 2G and stays there until I reflash the NV with the QCN or I reflash my Nandroid.
This has me stumped....for those of you with Octoplus boxes, are you having the same IMEI problems of 2G only data?
How did you fix it permanently?
Bump to the top! Still have problem after 3 weeks. How do u get AWS and LTE bands to stick permenantly after QPST IMEI repair?

T-Mobile Note-4(N910T) EFS Folder empty, when in stock can place calls and use LTE

I have a Note-4 T-Mobile variant(N910T), I have been using Xenon HD and then CM 12.1. After a while when I wanted to go back to stock, and when I flashed stock rom back, the phone was really laggy at first and during setup, there was a popup which said that Factory mode is enabled and I have to switch back to User mode before using it and after a few seconds it disappeared, this happens every time i reboot while in Stock Rom. Somehow after a few minutes, I get the WiFi on again but the keyboard gets stuck after a few presses and phone gets real laggy. After the setup I googled the problem and found out something regarding the EFS Folder, so I rooted it once again and installed ES File explorer and went into EFS and found that it was empty. I tried placing a phone call and it went through and I was also able to use LTE, but when I went to about phone to see IMEI, i saw that the IMEI was also correct, I even tried to setup fingerprints, but it kept saying me to reboot as something was wrong with the fingerprint sensor. Now the weird thing here is that when I am in a Non-touchwiz based Custom Rom, I do not find any lag or any of the problems mentioned above. I have tried these things already:
Going to EFS and switching Factory mode on, but as i told EFS folder is empty.
Backing up EFS from the custom and restoring when I'm in Stock(EFS is empty even in Custom too).
If anyone knows how to fix this, could you please help me?
Thanks!
Hi Sir,
I have the exact same issue as you on my Note 4... Did you manage to find a fix for this??
Please let me know..
Thanks
Hello Sir,
I managed to fix it... I used this guide...

Can't get LTE on G900-R4

Hey guys, hopefully you can help me get my S5 back on track.
KLTEUSC G900R4
The story goes:
I've been running CM13. Flashed a nightly, I notice my phone hasn't locked 4G basically all day. 3G only.
So I Odin back to stock using the latest firmware. Phone is still stuck in 3G. Phone does an OTA update to CPF2 baseband version. Still no 4G.
Took the phone to USC store, they provided me with a new SIM. Nothing changed.
I took a trip out of my home area, about 100 miles away I got 4G, but i had no network connection? The phone displayed 4G but i could not connect to any internet. It then dropped down to 3G shortly after and I was able to access data again.
Since then I've flashed back to CM13 (snapshot august 20th release) since if I'm going to be stuck in 3G forever, it might as well be on a ROM that I like.
Please help!
Thanks,
Jeremy.
Bump. Still no LTE.
If I reboot the device, the phone locks LTE for a few seconds, with network connectivity, but then quickly loses it and drops back to 3G. If I leave the phone in LTE preferred, it will run in 3G for most of the time, but occasionally totally lose data (I'm assuming its trying to connect to LTE) then go back to 3G.
Any Ideas?
flash the stock tar.md5 in Odin, reflash TWRP, boot it up fully, boot into recovery, make a NAND, reflash your ROM. Sounds like something got screwed up in the radio firmware
Will that still work even though I can't get 4G when i'm on the stock rom?
$50 reward to whoever can successfully restore 4G LTE to my phone. I've been living on 3G for 6 months and its starting to get to me.
I've been on Lineage OS with the same results. There was a firmware update, so I flashed it through Odin, and ran the stock rom/firmware for about 3 days with the same results. No 4G. Called up the US Cell Tech guys and they were going to check everything over on their end.
The last go round, I repartitioned the phone, did NandEraseAll, and EFS clear.
Any ideas?

Problems with IMEI, 4G, VoltE

Hello guys, recently I quit a custom rom PE 9.0 and go to stock 8.1 and unintentionally I deleted the Hlos partitions 1 and 2.
Then I flashed my own backup of EFS and Persist and my Imei came back, but I still have problems with a weak signal of 3g / 4G, it is falling all the time.
I would like to ask for your help, thank you in advance.
Well doesn't sound like an issue with the partitions. Sometimes different roms react differently. I always had 4G on Vodafone while on PE. Now on stock most of the times I'm in 3G unless I turn on data then it switches to 4G. Proximity from a cell tower would also affect signals.

I lost 4g a long time ago and for the first time in about 2 years I got it back. I have no idea how this worked, but in fastboot I selected the QCOM option and it would reboot into the rom with working 4g. I have tried a lot of things to get 4g but this is the first I found that seems to work across roms... I flash a rom, boot and have 3g only, use qcom option, and suddenly I have working 4g and it will stay there until I wipe my phone to flash something else.
No idea if it will fix your issue but it's worth a shot.
