Hey guys, I flashed a JUI ROM, and it flashed something to my EFS partition that is forcing my device to reflect the CoolPad S1 LTE bands (which unfortunately doesn't support any USA LTE for my carrier.). Immediately restoring my backup didn't work because it failed to decrypt my Internal Storage (meaning I had to wipe device.)
I've been unable to get the LTE bands back. Does anyone know what I can try? I've tried the below items.
* Tried manually enabling bands via QPST or Qualcomm Tools. The bands show up in certain apps, but device does not connect to them.
* Completely wiping and restoring device via QFIL restore by Tora33. Still seeing no LTE.
* Flashing USA 21s latest stock ROM w/ 5.8.19s modem. No go here.
* Reflash do manually all of the 5.9.23s firmware (w/ USA modem), no go.
I do not have an old EFS backup which I think is what I am in need of. But I think it's device specific...if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I am missing this device since I need LTE for coverage.

Yes, there is a TWRP recovery here on XDA that is a full unencrypted backup of 5.8.19s you could flash it to restore your bands.
I do not have the link at the moment. But I will post later today or you could search for it, it may be easy to find with a simple search for TWRP 5.8.19s recovery.

Hey, unfortunately I found the link and it did not work after restoring this. I do not know what JUI did, but it really did not play well with USA Le Pro3.
I just tried this and no go either.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...lock-bands-leeco-le-max-2-fix-t3439154/page25
I think we are SOL, unless a dev can chime in that understands how the modem is programmed.
EDIT: After trying this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...lock-bands-leeco-le-max-2-fix-t3439154/page25, I was able to get LTE back after flashing AICP after enabling the bands in the link. I am so happy! I'm going to see if reflashing EUI restores bands. If not, I'll just stay on AOSP ROMs lol.
EDIT2: EUI has LTE again.
Glad to hear things worked out, I had a very similar problem a while ago but I believe I ended up having to unbrick my phone(using some completely Chinese Le Eco recovery tool). Then by going back to EUI 18s and 19s I had the ability to connect to LTE. However, the problems I started having was LTE dropping in and out, and on EUI getting a random SIM NOT INSERTED error requiring a reboot/restart. It actually doesn't drop or slow down on Lineage while using data, only when my phone isn't actively using data, i.e. android auto/sitting on homescreen . Anyway, I'm just hoping you can give me the link to the flashable 19s so I can quickly try that, also let me know if you experience this intermittent LTE drop thing, thanks!

Many of you might have seen that after flashing custom ROMs and rebooting the phone with that ROM, Volte worked fine, but as soon as you flash Magisk Root and reboot again, volte is lost and further reboots doesn't seem fix it.
Working around my phone and in magisk I found a temporary solution to recover volte for calls.
***Solution***
After flashing Magisk Root, reboot your phone normally, you won't see Volte option for calls, now all you have to do is open Magisk Manager and swipe from left and look for "Magisk Hide", click on it (you'll see lots of system files), in the search bar search for 'phone services', phone services option will come up with a checkbox, click on that checkbox, your network will reset for a few second and will be back with Volte working.
I've attached some screenshots for better understanding.
**note that after every reboot you'll have to perform this procedure again n again to gain volte**
HOPE THIS HELPS Hit Thanks
Which ROM you are using right now.?
Did you flashed stock ROM.? because by flashing stock ROM IMEI shows "0", however I have recover IMEI but I won't able to get back volte.

Earlier I was using Oreo Custom Rom (FireHound) then I went back to stock (at this moment the IMEI lost).. right now I'm using AtomicOs Oreo.
If you want to use VoLte do the steps which I posted above regarding magisk. Hope that helps.
Well, my friend, I think Volte worked for me even if I didn't follow the above steps. Maybe regaining LTE is the main part. Nice tuto by the way.
ROM: Atomic OS latest
Not working
I flashed stock with 64 bit recovery installed, which, I think, is the reason of IMEI lost. (I flashed stock to re-gain VoLte , 4g was working fine)
But soon after booting stock, IMEI went to 0 or NA in many cases.
Going back to any 8.1 ROM gets back previous imei and 3g but 4g or volte. This story is going on since past 2 months.
And, this method doesnt do anything except resetting network and finding only 3g again.

Yes this method doesn't works if IMEI is lost.. I have wrote this method before IMEI lost not after the IMEI 0.
This will only work for people who still haven't lost their imei and if after flashing VoLte doesn't works.

I am currently working on HOW TO RECOVER 4G NETWORK after IMEI lost, and I can now manually search 4G network and it shows up but I can't connect to that network, it says registering on the network failed. But I'm still working on it. Will update soon.

Then you cannot recover 4G.
You need to get your motherboard changed.

Hi all,
I picked up a used G5 Plus (XT1687) on eBay, with the bootloader already unlocked. I immediately installed AICP ROM with a VZW SIM from a working G4. The phone showed LTE for data, but no voice service. That started a long series of firmware changes that saw me trying Pixel Experience, and a few stock ROMs, having my IMEI show as 0 a few times as well.
I'm at a point with the phone now where I'm on the latest retus channel stock ROM (POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-4_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip) with the bootloader locked. The phone now connects with 1xRTT for voice and EvDo (3G) for data. If I swap this SIM into my other phone (Pixel XL) I get full LTE in the Pixel but still 3G only in the G5+.
The only other standout item is in the BP tools SIM menu, where I get the following errors.
Phone ICCID Compare with SIM ICCID: ERROR
and
PHONE ICCID: PHONE_ICCID_UNKNOWN
I feel like with all the flashes I may have really screwed things up. does anyone have any recommendations on what to try to get LTE service back?
TIA!
I am in the exact same boat. Searching around the web, there are several reports of this model phone not switching properly, from EvDo revA to LTE channels. Many of these are from non bootloader unlocked phones, and Verizon {and other carriers} pass it off to Lenovo and vice versa. I unlocked mine myself, but being an Ebay phone and knowingly unlocking it, I realize their is no recourse, except hoping for a proper modem software fix from moto. I've been able to get LTE/4g working a couple times, but it doesn't last, so it is a 3g phone for now.

It seems they would rather replace than fix.
Same with my phone. It has been unlocked and I've been on numerous variations of ROMs stock and custom. Everything was smooth with no issues until I decided to flash an Oreo 8.1 ROM. Immediately after I was greeted with 3G EVDO-Rev A./1xRTT mode with no access to 4G/LTE on Verizon. Sim Card status is screwy with some apps seeing it, albeit improperly configured, most not able to detect it at all. If I return to any ROM below 8.1 I have no data service whatsoever. Hoping a fix is found as all the workarounds do nothing.
Also like the OP, I can get LTE to stick sometimes by messing around with Radio Bands and switching options around in the 4636 menu. But that leaves me without voice/text/mms service.

I came from a Droid Turbo [quark] and have always liked the motorola phones, in my remote area, for the superior radio reception. My Galaxy S4 dropped calls and data in many of the remote areas, so the Turbo was a welcome upgrade. However, even the with the Turbo, there were Roms that we had to clean and flash updated modems for, when they became balky. I wonder if someone with more engineering knowledge than I have, could look at these twrp flashable modem files, and convert to these G5 plus modems.

Yeah it seems like there should be some way to un**** the phones after flashing an 8.1 ROM. I just don't know enough about the innards of the ROMs either. I had to follow the instructions here https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/help/restore-imei-0-moto-g5-xt1687-t3739808 in order to fix an issue with the phone showing an IMEI of 0. There you end up deleting modemst1 and modemst2. I guess they get replaced by the stock or custom ROM, but I have no idea where you would get copies of those from a ROM that would fix this issue, if such a thing exists.

Flashing the modem bin. "NON-HLOS.bin" then erasing modemst1 & 2 gets the 4g/lTE back for some, but has never worked for me. The quark modem we installed the "clean modem" zip which according to the read-me
this zip will "erase" format the modem status partition:
mdm1m9kefs1 = modemst1
mdm1m9kefs2 = modemst2

Hm so you're saying to do this:
Flash NON-HLOS.bin from the stock ROM zip
erase modemst1
erase modemst2
reboot
And that might restore LTE? I've never just flashed that bin and erased.
In the info file in the stock ROM I'm using, it shows modem version M8953_37.46.07.47R. In the ROM zip I have
boot.img
fsg.mgn
gpt.bin
logo.bin
missing from the list are
emmc_appsboot.mbm
modem.img
rpm.img
sbl1.mbn
sdi.mbm
tz.mbn
I wonder if the stock ROMs from OTA only include the files that changed, so an older stock ROM might have one or more of those missing files. Or those files just don't apply to the G5+ but do to the Quark.
I'll try downloading a bunch of the older stock ROMs and unpacking them and seeing if any of them contain files that aren't included in the one I've been using.
I've also been ignoring this, but I believe these two steps in the stock ROM reflash have always failed for me:
fastboot erase customize
fastboot erase clogo
I'm not sure what they do so I'll have to dig into that.
It is weird that out of the blue I flashed a 8.1 rom,,,after flashing different 8.1 roms before that,,,I lost VZM service all together. Was able to get back 4G data service only, no voice service. However, after a few mins voice service comes back. Never happened the numerous times I flashed 8.1 before so wonder why it happens all the time now? Makes me think there is a design flaw with the internal radio,,,not the modems software? Would really be nice to see an 8.1 update from Moto,,,may help solve these problems.

I think those errors are normal, at least with some stock roms.
Those extra files were from the quark modem files, which is an older modem/radio, so the drivers are going to be different. By the way, I have flashed the modem, flashed the erase modemst1 & 2 and every combo, yet no luv.
This problem can be attributed to one of 2 things. First would be hardware, but by selecting LTE only in the testing menu, I was able to get data in LTE. So the radio's frequency band that supports LTE from Verizon in these phones does work. The Motorola Moto G5 Plus TD-LTE 32GB XT1687 which I have, supports 4 GSM bands, 5 UMTS bands, 15 LTE bands, and 3 CDMA bands. My carrier Verizon uses 3 LTE bands and 2 CDMA bands. The way I understand how it works, is by default, all 4g/LTE capable phones look for a signal in the bands, approved by your sim, in the LTE range first. If not found, it switches to 3g or CDMA , and if that isn't found, 2g. If we are correct in assuming the radio's ability to receive the 3 LTE bands is still functional, it stands to reason the driver that auto switches to CDMA is corrupt. I lost my 4g/LTE on the Pixel Rom, and not by reverting back to stock. It was the only Rom I had ever flashed on the phone after unlocking and installing twrp recovery. I have since gone back to stock and relocked the bootloader, hoping the next ota will jog the drivers to look for LTE before passing off. The times I have briefly had 4g kind of reinforces the theory that the drivers that pass off to 3g are corrupt.
A little research into the baseband processor and its radio firmware RTOS [real-time operating system,] shows it to be closed source, proprietary, yet full of flaws. It is even susceptible to the long standing "Hayes command set" but I don't believe this to be where our particular problem lies. Because it is so closed, it is doubtful the Oreo roms were able to inadvertently touch anything inside this secondary operating system all phones have. It is more likely it is the communication between our android firmware, and the radio firmware, but why the restoration back to stock, doesn't remedy it, is a mystery. The devs that adapted the Oreo roms to this device, missed this link or they would not have written to that area, I'm sure.
You guys are a lot smarter than me,,,it just scared the heck out of me. I flashed a 8.1 rom like I have done at least a dozen or so times on this phone and then suddenly no signal at all,,,then just 4g data and no voice service. I went back to a 8.1 back up that I have and within a few mins everything came back. Now, I am afraid to flash anything rom wise for fear of not getting any signal back.
Something like this really deserves an official statement by Lenovo, Motorola or Verizon. Even if that statement is an unfortunate "you knew the risks associated with unlocking the bootloader and flashing ROMs / modems". Even if none of the three know what exactly is going on they should at least let us know.
Is this problem something that happens with all carriers and their LTE signals? Am I right in thinking that using Verizon is currently the only carrier in which the issue can't be fully repaired?
I havent yet restored my partially working (3g/1x) EFS backup to a stock Nougat Rom yet as I want to have 4G working as well if I do that. If the other carriers can be fully repaired I'll just switch carriers until I get a new phone.
There have been some reports around that putting in a GSM sim even temporarily brings back LTE. I haven't had access to one to try.

Yeah that all seems to make sense. Something we broke with a software change should be fixable with a software change. Hopefully the next OTA isn't too far away.

It might pay to remove your sim, flash the
Code:
fastboot erase modemst1 fastboot erase modemst2
and then insert her sim. I'm just thinking that would clear the modem for the new bands to set themselves.
Hi everyone,
I've been having a problem since yesterday morning. Everything seemed to be fine with my phone before I flashed a custom rom. I was using at the moment MSM Xtended and I flashed the latest version of CrDroid. After flashing that other custom rom and booting, my phone had no network signal. All it reads on the status bar after that is just "No service". Of course, I removed the SIM card and reinserted it many times but that did nothing.
I've already tried flashing another rom (the latest AICP rom) and even going back to the one I was using at the beginning, but still nothing. I even tried reflashing the NON-HLOS.bin file and erasing modemst1 and modemst2, but it didn't do anything either. I also tried flashing this deodexed stock rom and booting. Interestingly, that kind of fixed the problem, since it recovered its network functionality. However, after reflashing an Oreo custom rom, it loses it again (actually, I've done that a few times today, but the last time I tried flashing the stock rom, for some reason it didn't fix it anymore). I don't know if in this case it's worth mentioning it, but I've tried checking my IMEI on both, custom roms and stock rom, and it's never been 0 at any moment.
TL;DR: My phone lost its network signal after flashing a new custom rom and I have no idea why. If anyone could somehow help me, I'd be really, really grateful.
I have had this happen so many times it is not crazy LOL. The best you can do is find a rom that it happens the least. For me it has been AOSP extended. Signal has been great. It is a bug that I dont think the devs even thought would happen with 8.1 roms. It will happen to everyone at some point if we stay on these 8.1 roms i guess until we get a workable 8.1 stock rom. There will be those who chime in saying it nevver happen to them but it will eventually.
Well, it's nice to know I'm not actually the only one then, I guess. But is there nothing I can do? Since I can't seem to get it fixed even by flashing the stock ROM anymore and flashing AOSP extended didn't seem to help at all either
I know brother there is no rhyme or reason it just happens. I am hoping when 8.1 stock comes out for us there will be a new batch of 8.1 custom roms without this problem. Right now i am on extended and havent had any signal problems for a few weeks so who knows.

Okay. Luckily enough, Oreo stock ROM doesn't look like it's gonna take too much more to arrive... Or so I hope, at least. Thanks
I was using LinageOs and it was working great. Then I decided to install DolbyAtmos and for that I flashed Magisk . Suddenly i had no network but my sim cards were detected , IMEI was there but no network on either sim whatsoever. I tried reflashing the LinageOs and PixelExperience ROM but none worked. So I tried flashing(ADB) the stock firmware only to lose my IMEI . After reading this post I tried Debloated ROM and my network was back. I should have stopped at that point but I tried to return back to stock again and lost IMEI again and now I have tried Dbloated,LineageOs , PixelExperience , AOSP Extended , but none helped me getting back network . Now I am stuck with this phone with no network , I had a backupp of my system before I flashed Oreo ROMs (with EFS) so I can get IMEI back but no network. This phone was my daily driver and now I have no idea what to do.

Everything you said is exactly as if I had written it. I did all of that and now I'm exactly in the same position. No idea how to fix it yet. Still, if you managed to find a solution somehow, please write a reply on this thread again

No success yet , but read on some posts that different baseband could be an issue.
Solution I've tried and worked 100 %
Hi bodies,
You can turn off your phone,
Go to fastboot menu by pressing and holding power button and volume down button in the same time.
Roll to "Restart Bootloader" with volume up/down and validate with power button.
Now select start and the network is back.
see you !:fingers-crossed:

I have a vs995/verizon model, on LineageOS 18.1, what do I have to do to get back to stock rom so my phone won't be a paperweight after the holidays? And supplement question: Is there an up to date custom stock rom that will work?
Answering my own question, to save some people a lot of time:
Ovewrite lineage recovery with twrp.
Install LGUP, use Uppercut
Reboot into download mode (hold up button, insert usb)
Write the latest stock rom
Then go back and root your device and install twrp again.
Got it working, just had to reinstall once more.
What happened in January? Three of my rooted vs995s stopped getting cell service. Did I miss something?

Carriers are dropping devices that don't use volte. If you're rooted and using a rom, then you have no volte. Only lg stock has volte support.

Ok, I appreciate that info.... I did wind up flashing "not so stock" rom versions (so I could keep my root) and we are now able to use our service.
switch to a carrier not pushing this bullsh!t.. t-mo / mint working fine on my us996 w/ los18.1. as a matter if fact i put a sim in my oooold nokia 5160 not long ago and IT STILL WORKS. cell industry forgets that voice calks are still priority and we can steer their decisions with our wallets
