How to disable dark themed Google widgets - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Google calendar and Google keep widgets turned to dark theme on latest update. I'm on stock 8.1.0 Oreo unrooted. There is no dark mode option in display settings to turn on/off. The is no dark mode option in developers options to turn on/off. Any solution to go back to light theme?
When I launch the apps, the theme is light. Only widgets are dark themed.
In the stock phone app when I go to settings->display options, it says "dark mode in device settings is on" with blurred letters and toggled on, and it won't let me turn it off.

[Q] Disable notification shade like in Chrome fullscreen mode

My app is a kiosk mode app that already has the home button and the recent apps disabled. The notification shade is also disabled... to a point. So I want to know how I can make it like how Chrome disables the notification shade when a full screen video is playing, or if that's not accessible to developers. Basically is there code that will disable the notification shade completely?

Screen wakes up with notifications. How do I turn this off?

My screen constantly wakes up for notifications and I can't figure out how to turn it off. I'm using the "textra" texting app and in the textra settings I have the "wake up screen" option set to off, but my screen still wakes up so there's obviously a setting in the phone that is making this happen, but I can't find it.
Screen lock and passwords.
still cant find it i have the same issue

A couple questions

So far I've been very happy with the S10+, but have a very annoyances I can't figure out.
1. I have the gallery app disabled, as I prefer Google photos. In the camera app, if I select the most recent picture, it says "no apps can perform this action". Anyone know how to get this to map to photos?
2. I like my theme to always be dark, so I have night mode enabled and customized to my liking, but I can't get good control over the navbar. In a lot of dark/black apps, I end up with a white navbar. I've tried numerous apps to make the navbar black all the time, but then the button icons aren't visible in the apps where One UI wants a white navbar because it makes the icons black. Anyone have a solution?
Any input would be appreciated.
1: go to default apps and clear defaults for the gallery, set Google photos as default gallery app
2: download good lock to change the quickpanel, a short guide to make the quickpanel black is in my battery guide.
Maybe to set it black try the "Navbar Apps" from appstore

1: I cleared gallery defaults, and opened a pictured from a file explorer to set photos as default, but still within the built in Samsung app, it won't open in photos.
2. I already made my quickpanel black, it's the navbar I'm trying to recolor while keeping the menu, home, and back buttons white.

This is one of the apps I've been trying and it works well except that the menu, home, and back buttons turn black in some apps, and thus are black on black.
Thanks for the help both of you

Google Search Bar

After a recent update the Google search bar widget on the home screen changes color with the phones night mode and it is driving me crazy. So with night mode on the search bar turns black and as white with night mode off. It never used to do this and I just want it to stay white. Any body have a solution without installing a launcher?

how do I turn of canvas in beta 2??

I decided to see what it looked like last night and now can't get rid of it. It also automatically turns on ambient display after a reboot .
Same problem. I hate it. I even uninstalled the canvass app and I still can't disable the wallpaper I set in the ambient display. It's frustrating. HELP PLEASE.
it's weird. I did, it worked — i didn't like it.
so i changed wallpapers (i use live wallpapers) and went to customization and chose a different ambient clock and it got turned off (gave a warning as well that changing clock styles will turn off canvas)
You can Uninstall it from Settings > apps > See all apps > Canvas = Force stop or Uninstall.
You change wallpaper to stop it.
