I am very excited to order a new Moto G4 Plus, it will be a replacement for my One Plus X which was stolen about 6 weeks ago.
Amazon UK have the following listing:
Motorola Moto G4 Plus 16GB Dual SIM-Free Smartphone - White - Exclusive to Amazon for £199 (€221/$248)
The Dual SIM would be useful for my work number, but not at the price of a white phone!
Am I correct the Moto G4 Plus cannot be bought for that price dual SIM in black?
If so would it be possible and cost effective to order that white dual SIM model and a black front and back bezel?
Otherwise I was thinking of ordering this model:
Motorola Moto G4 Plus 16GB SIM-Free Smartphone - Black (Single SIM) - (Exclusive to Amazon) for £199
Unless there are issues with heat or performance with that model and I should consider a 3GB RAM model instead? I have a 128GB Sandisk MicroSD card so I thought I could get by with 16GB of on board memory...

Thanks, I think I would pay the £30 for the bump from 16GB to 32GB, in black, and dual SIM. I do not see anywhere on that page it is dual SIM, are you absolutely certain it is?

This may not be relevant considering the reasons you're upgrading from OPX, but given my few days experience with OPX you'd miss its fantastic OLED display on MOTO G. At the cost of sounding discouraging, being a current Moto G4 plus user I'd recommend considering another phone for your intended purpose of upgrading. This is based on my two month rigorous use and finding far too many issues with Moto G4 plus for its hype. For one, unless you aren't fond of dedicating a few hours each day flashing ROMs and tweaking settings or installing mods, heating-up and ghost touch issues, apart from Moto G's build and design are not easy to accept for the price you pay for this fourth moto G iteration which is far from its predecessors' in terms of quality and performance.
As for the memory, going from 16 to 32 gig is surely worthwhile though only if there weren't other 32Gig phones out there offering better performance at prolly more competent prices.
Sorry if I sound sore, but couldn't help being honest with what I've learned from buying this phone.

Oh, I had thought the heat issues were resolved!
I actually ordered a few days go, Motorola's website told me so, but then sent me an email saying it was cancelled. I queried this with support and they told me it was because my bank declined the transfer, but I spoke with my bank and they said Motorola never tried to take the money!
I just ordered again about an hour ago...
What phone would you recommend instead? I was pretty set on the Moto G4 Plus

I don't have a G4 Plus but I do have a G4 XT1625. It blows my previous Moto G2 out of the water in performance, battery life and reliability. No major issues at all on stock or with the custom ROM I now use. I have been using it for about two months and couldn't be happier with it.

And why not shoot yourself in the foot at the same time? Do you not read the news? The Note 7 has had more issues than any phone in the history of smartphones. Samsung has lost over $2 billion due to Note 7 issues and recalls. Even the replacements for the original recalls have been pulled off the market. Avoid the Note 7 like the plague.

That was the laughing smiley for.
Okay, so it seems most would recommend their Moto G4 Plus.
Another 'Moto-maker' order cancelled by Motorola UK. After speaking with 3 technical support agents through their web based Live Chat, and being unable to get a clear answer from either one of them, I phoned and spoke with someone whose first language was actually English, and they explained the orders were cancelled because I was using a redirection service.
As I am in the Republic of Ireland I cannot order directly from Motorola UK, instead I tried using the same forwarder I always use for this kind of thing, but it is blacklsited by Motorola UK. Not sure what to do now, I really want a black dual SIM 32GB G4 Plus, but I do not want to pay Amazon an extra £39 for the privilege! It would be a real shame if I had to instead opt for the black single sim 16GB model from Amazon.
I am not sure what to do now, perhaps see if any family have friends in the UK that would manually forward it.
Sorry about that, I wasn't aware you'd already ordered for one, could have toned down the bad stuff I've had to say.
I guess, having shopped around a bit, doesn't look like there's much to choose from if I were to get a different phone, besides to be more honest my budget won't allow an upgrade just as yet. So guess I'll live with it for now and while my time away installing and uninstalling programs to squeeze out whatever good I can from my Moto G4 Plus.
And yes, majority moto g4 owners do seem to be swearing by their phones, that should ideally suffice to join their lot, besides making it worth buying considering there's going to be no dearth of dedicated forums and communities and such.

FWIW, there are things I'd like to see like NFC, a magnetic compass and water repellent like the G3 but all in all it's a pretty solid phone for the price. Oh yea, it doesn't have the built-in heater like some Samsung phones but I can live without that.

My little cousin is looking for something in the range of 300, I'm pushing them toward swappa and telling him to research some things that he has enough money for but can you guys find something you would recommend for that price range? I'm leaning towards a Nexus 6 because I loved that phone. He brought up HTC m9

I would be really wary of buying a used Nexus 6P. There were obviously quality control issues with this phone. Too many people with boot loop and battery issues who need to RMA. Without a warranty you could end up with a paperweight.

Moto G4 Plus looks really good for a $279 price tag. The one major drawback is no NFC. But he can get a brand new phone with decent specs and a warranty.

I had a g4 plus (moto) before i bought a nexus 6p. All i can say is it is one kf the best phones that i used.
No issues at all. Running great up to now.
go for moto x pure edition 64 gb with great dual speaker at $260 best buy on sale
Depends what carrier you're on.
The Google Phones get updates faster than the moto phones of course. I would recommend the Moto Phones if he either a) knows how to unlock bootloader and flash custom roms, or b) doesn't care about stock updates. Moto is generally notorious for lack of updates.
If you're on GSM, could always get a OnePlus device.

Nexus 6p is great and in many peoples opinions one of the best phones currently out. It is very customisable and easy to use with good battery. Also if your cousin is into nodding then this is one of the best phones for stuff like custom roms etc. I would highly recommend this phone because last I checked it was around 300. I bought mine from the google store almost a year ago for 300-320. Can't remember exactly. Good luck searching.

imo, if you can help it, stay away from Motorola. They've been really shoddy about updates for all their phones, including the G4. There have also been issues regarding ghost touches/screen failures, but nearly every phone has its share of issues and the G4 is not unique in this regard.
If you plan to root/ROM your phone, the G4 is not a bad choice as there are a variety of ROMs to choose from, as well as decent support.
Even if you do purchase a G4+, don't spend more than $200 USD on it. Any more than $200, and you can get vastly better phones such as the Nexus 5X, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3/4, and the Huawei Honor 6X.

Well, don't forget that the Nexus 5X also has the bootloop issue.
If you want to root and ROM, I heartily recommend the 2015 X/X Pure if you can afford it. Or the OnePlus 2.
But, if you're going to stay on stock, get a Nokia 6 (or whatever other phones they have). Stock Android with super fast updates.
My previous phone was an iPhone 4. I am very happy with my G4+ and they can be had for a $200 for the 64GB model. There are many well supported ROMs to choose from. Most OEM update support sucks...a friend of mine dropped $700 on his Galaxy S7 and is in 7.0 with the February security patch. Due to fantastic developer (thank you OAdam11 for Tesla) support, I am running 7.1.2 with the May 5 security update. I would recommend it.
Redmi note 4x(Snapdragon ) except bootloader unlocking is difficult to somebody ( not for me), definitely better than g4plus.I had both ,but as per development and MIUI , Redmi note 4x is my choice for your budget.

I bought a second hand one for gps use last month and ended up using it as my primary device. I also have a Moto x play and kumia (pointless). I bought it for 140usd - 9000inr. The back camera lens is scratched a bit but there is no other issue. Photos are clear though. The phone is very nice and it doesn't heat up for me as many people say. Gets fully charged in 1.25 hours. I don't play games so for other use it works awesome.
It is way better than Moto x play which I bought when it released. The camera is good. That can be also an option for you . Or, you can go for Nexus 5x. Price dropped and you can also find a second sale phone for less than 150. If you are so Keen about the quality buy a scratched phone for low price, replace the case housing. It's new.
I have a lumia 640xl which I refurbished under 100usd. It still works charm..
Go for it mate...
I know it's been several months since someone posted something here, but I'm curious to know your opinion on this...
I have just purchased an used Moto G4 Plus XT1644 4GB + 64GB yesterday at B&H Photo in excellent condition (10 out of 10), at least that's how they described it, for $138.50 shipped. It's arriving on Thursday.
I was not aware of its many issues like, heating issues, screen burn in / ghost touches and so on... So now I'm kinda worried about my decision...
My wife had an iPhone 6 and I converted her to a Moto G5 Plus about 3 to 4 months ago. She's very happy with the phone.
I only went with the G4 Plus because of the extra RAM, plenty storage space, external SD card reader and larger screen compared to the G5 Plus (*for the price I paid*). Most importantly, I bought the G4 Plus because it has ElementalX kernel, official Lineage OS support and TWRP as well. The combination of these three kept my Nexus 5 going for 3+ years before it gave up on me a few months ago.
My N5 still works but it randomly shuts down and reboots when using demanding tasks like taking photos or when it heats up. As long as I can keep it frozen (out of the freezer - literally) it works just fine though.
I've been using a crappy $60 Amazon Prime Exclusive phone, the Blu R1 HD on stock Marshmallow + Magisk / Xposed / Gravity Box / N-ify. Performance is fine considering what I paid for it. Thanks to the infamous fire.apk that plagued the R1 HD for months, I managed to get a full refund for that phone today. So I've got a free phone with malware basically.
I really wanted a 5.5" to 6" phone with good dev support on the cheap but as you know, both the G5 Plus / G5S Plus have a smaller 5.2" and very little dev support (compared to the G4 Plus) and they cost quite a bit more.
So I went with lower price, better dev support and slightly bigger screen on the G4 Plus.
What do you guys think?
Hello guys, I am overall happy with my G3, but I want a newer phone. I read som good reviews about this phone.
I also read about some customers that had issue with Your device is corrupt etc. <-- What is this all about and is there a fix for this?
I will root and put custom rom on this phone. My Lg g3 has gotten a little bit hot sometimes when working hard or charging wireless. How is this phone, anny heat issues?
Is there any other issues I should read about before I buy?
Thanks,
regards Morten
I upgraded from lg g3 to g6 and love it!
Unlocking boitloader and rooting was easy.
Sooo much better than g3.

Hey, I see you're Norwegian, so you're probably going to buy the h870 model. Just keep in mind that only the h870, us997 and h872 models can be bootloader unlockable.
i dont know if you gonna update your G3 for G6 because your are on the budget, but if you dont have limitations is rather better buying V35 or V30S (even V30), the reason is: more features, OLED display and so on...
G6 is good dont get me wrong, i have it and love it, but if i know today, i rather put more 150 and go by V30 just because the camera and hifi DAC, is a major updates from G6 to V30.
Trust me, when you go for V series you never want to go back to G series, since V is more complete, have a lot of better features for people who like to have them is a must go and i am sure you will enjoy it more.
If on a budget...go for G6....huge improvement over G3.
If not on a budget then don't buy V30 or V35...wait for V40.
Matt.

Even thinking this way, remember LG phones price drop so quickly so, when V40 came out V30 will be under 450 if not under 400, and this is some value for money phone, not like V40 because that will be at 799/699 at the launch and people dont need to wait for a little improvement phone and overpay for a minimum upgraded phone.
Here is easy, if they like G6 and can grab it for good money then is a go, if the difference between G6 and V30 is little then go for V30.
V40 is at least a month or two away, for what? a bump from SD835 to SD845, little better display, little better camera?! At the time they release them isnt worth that much money.
I think people buy LG phones because price is good, and of course is on a budget side...if people arent on the budget and have money to spend is easy to see what they gonna buy: shamesh*t, crapple or one of the more advanced phones out (NEX S, Find X)...but that is people who like to overpay for something who dont have the value they are paying for.
* im not saying bad or good from anything, is just my opinion and my thoughts.
Hello guys, thanks for all your answears. yes I am on budget. I can afford to buy new flagship, but I think its waste of money. And new phones doesnt have much android development support either. Lg G6 is cheap on used marked, and I have been happy with my G3 for the years I have had it.
I have also been looking on Xiaomi mi mix 2 that has 6 gb ram compared to 4 gb ram same price used. Seems like a decent phone also. But its missing wireless charging.
My G3 never had good Wireless charging. There was allot of heat made when charging, so If I used it at the same time it would crash/get to hot sometimes. So I stopped using it. Is it still the same with G6? If it is, I do not care to much about wireless charging.
Yes I am from Norway. Is H870 the norweigan model or european model? For me it is a must to open bootloader.

Hello all.
I'm looking to get a new phone, and the OnePlus 7 Pro is just a tad too expensive here in Canada ($1128 after tax).
So I wanna get the 6t. But I imagine One Plus might put it at a discount at some point now that the the 7 is on sale. Does OP have a habit of putting older models on sale? Should I wait a few weeks to buy the phone or is the current price ($729 before tax) the best I'm gonna get?
Thank you!
You should wait for the OnePlus 7 (not the pro one)
I'm from India & I recently got a OP6T (8GB+128GB) Mirror Black for ₹32,999 (around $470 USD) and I'm really sad as OnePlus has launched the OP7 for the exact same price here.
I wish I could somehow switch to the OP7 as my 6T is barely 12 days old today

That's a shame. I'm sorry to hear that. It's reasons like that that I have given up on OnePlus and am moving on to a better company. They don't even sell the OnePlus 7 here in America, because they know nobody will buy the pro version when the regular 7 is a much better bang for your buck, in comparison.

I never see OnePlus to give discount for older phone, like 6T now.
Why don't you buy it from OnePLus site? 7 pro 6gb-128gb is 999 canadian dollars. I don't know about Canada taxes, but if i buy it, i pay 699 euro, taxes, transport included.
Why don't you buy from another person (selling forums) from Canada (sell forums)?
This depends on your country and its laws.
2 weeks ago I bought a returned 6T for 410 US dollars incl taxes.
It looked absolutely new.
The price difference to the OP7 is too big in my opinion.

I suppose you're talking about the OP7 Pro... OP7 starts from $549 here in India, at which 2 years back OP5 was released. OP6 launched at $583 & OP6T at $633 in India.
So, OP7 is cheaper here compared to previous devices.

No, I meant that if he can get the 6t as cheap as I bought, the price difference is not worth it. But only If he is ok, buying an not absolutely new device.
I am living in Europe and paid for the 6t ( tried and returned before 14 days after buying) 370 euros. The OP7 is just available for 560 euros, but it's brand new.
Therefore it is the best time to buy a 6t if you can accept some small drawbacks.
