Hello folks. I'm posting here to try to get a few ideas on potentially solving this issue:
3rd party apps that I download that require the "Allow display over other apps" permission, have that permission reset when the phone locks. At which point when I attempt to use the app again, it asks for the permission to be set.
When lock screen is set to PIN when I give the permission, then press the power button to lock. Once I enter my pin and re-enter the app, it immediately asks for the permission again. If i disable "Power button instantly locks" then this doesn't happen...because of course the power button is not locking the phone.
If i remove the lock screen completely. Then the permission is reset as soon as I hit the power button. I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to correct this. Is this a "feature" of Android 9? If so it's extremely irritating. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.
I'm using the Oneplus A6013 (6t) with OxygenOS 9.0.11 Build A6013_34_190510 completely stock.
What I have tried:
I have attempted to clear the cache from recovery.
I have tried removing the "Modify system settings" permission from all non-system apps.
I have tried a different launcher. I have tried to disable the finger print scanner.
I have disabled and removed all permissions from tmobile apps such as "com/tmobile.pr.adapt".
I have disabled the "Display over other apps" permission for all other apps.
I have disabled battery optimization for the apps that need the permission.

How to remove BitDefender Anti-Theft application from Samsung Galaxy S2
Presuming you have BitDefender Anti-Theft application with password enabled:
1) install Root App Delete from Google Play on your phone.
2) Open the Root App Delete application and select the BitDefender Anti-Theft application and click on Uninstall button. It will prompt you that in order to be able to uninstall this app, you need to remove its Device Administrator rights. This application might take you to the Device Administrators settings but if it doesn't then go to: Settings -> Security -> Device Administrators.
3) There you will find the BitDefender Anti-Theft application enabled through a radio button. Unchecking that radio button will prompt you with a pop-up to Deactivare it or Cancel the action. Click on Deactivate.
This action will open the BitDefender Anti-Theft application prompt asking you for the PIN you setup earlier in order to allow you to deactivate it. Just hit Cancel (if the general Back button from the bottom left of your phone doesn't work) and it will automatically skip the PIN identification and it will deactivate the application.
4) Go back and open the Root App Delete application and select the BitDefender Anti-Theft application and click on Uninstall button. This time, will uninstall it for sure
Enjoy.
MENTION: I'm not sure if this procedure requires ROOT. Ive done it on my S2 which is rooted but it might as well work for non rooted devices. Please leave feedback.
Thanks.
This also works on my rooted S4 using normal android uninstall and because of this I won't use Bitdefender aymore. It took me literally 1 min after I've installed the app to figure this out.
Hi,
I've been using this app for a couple of days (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=joel.sternet.se.full2) but decided I wanted to uninstall it again.
Now I followed the instructions by the author, so that the device administrator rights would be removed and I could remove the app.
However the 3 top options for the type of lock screen (the 3 that don't require a password) are still greyed out, and right below it says that these options are disabled by a device administrator.
I've checked the device administrator menu under security, and I only have ADM and Cerberus active, and those two were active before I tried the new app.
Help, what can I do to remove this? Is a factory reset the only solution?
Kind regards
had this problem, finded solution another place so i just write here:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select Security which under "General" tab
3. Under Credential Storage -> Clear Credentials

I am getting a constant barrage that tells me "Unfortunately, Weather has stopped". I assume it's the app on my home screen that was installed automatically. This message will not stop and repeats so quickly I am unable to do anything, literally. I have to pull the battery and reboot. Please help.
Usually a corrupt cache. The following procedure will resolve most xxxx app has stopped error messages.
If you are using a weather widget on your homescreen, drag it to the trashcan. Then go into the settings menu > applications > all > application manager > weather and click force stop, then clear cache, then clear data.
Then boot to recovery mode (pull battery, replace it, then press and hold in order the volume up key, then the home key, then the power key). Once the screen turns on, release the keys and from recovery mode, wipe the partition cache (or wipe cache + Dalvik if you have a custom recovery).
That should clear up corrupt or messed up weather settings. You will have to drag your weather widget to your homescreen again to replace it.

Thank you so much for answering. The sign happens so quickly and so frequently it's extremely challenging, but I was able to delete it from my home screen. The app manager only lists downloaded apps and I think the one causing the problems is part of the standard package as I don't see it there.
I did find running apps. I did not see any weather apps. Things started happening so quickly that there is no time to do anything.

Not true. If you choose the "all" column instead of the "downloaded" column, you would see all of the apps.
settings menu > applications > application manager > all > weather
And no, you will not get special attention by PMing me. Further requests for tech support by PM will be ignored. Everyone benefits when questions are posed and answered in the forum. im doing automation testing on a samsung galaxy s6 sm-g920t and for my automation tests to run efficiently i need to delete the setup wizard that is prompted when booting up a phone after a factory data reset
i installed root explorer pro after rooting the phone and went to system/priv-app/SecSetupWizard2015 and deleted the SecSetupWizard2015 folder
after that i factory data reset the phone, waited for it to turn on, and then went to tap build number to activate developer options
but after tapping build number rapidly no message showed up confirming that developer options was enabled
after further observation i ran into a prompt that said "developer options are not available for this user"
this was not the case before i deleted the SecSetupWizard2015 folder in root explorer pro
the setup wizard is a big obstacle in the way of my automation tests ability to run efficiently, i need the phone to boot up to the home screen even after a factory data reset no matter what
can anyone help out?
Hi.
I need guidance on how to decrypt and mount my phone's encrypted "sdcard" storage so I can take a backup. (Alternatively, I would like some form of statement saying that even if I dirty flash, and then log into my Google account, I would be able to access my encrypted data. I doubt this is possible; I believe encryption to be unique per installation.)
My beloved OP5 was beginning to get sluggish (and sometimes wouldn't store photos I would take without having unlocked the phone), so after ~1.000hrs uptime I rebooted it. And now, it's stuck at "Phone is starting" displayed over my lock screen wallpaper. It can't seem to get past this stage, it will stay that way even if left overnight. My daily alarm seems to function normally, and I can access the notification drop-down -- and through that the Settings app.
It's running OxygenOS 10.0.0, with the latest OTA update. It is rooted and has the latest TWRP recovery and Magisk (solely for root, no Magisk modules installed).
Through the Settings app, I can see that the Default App registered for "Home app" is "None" -- wtf? Clicking it gives me no options (pretty much just a blank screen), although there is the stock launcher as well as ADW launcher (which I prefer, and had as default prior to the reboot).
I have tried wiping the cache and Dalvik. I have tinkered with turning lock screen settings (code, pin, pattern, etc) on and off, but found that anything other than the pattern would not allow me to access TWRP because that one either shows a pattern input, or a password input that accepts neither a pin, a password, nor my Google password. That is to say, using the pattern code, I can make full use of TWRP but apparently to no effect.
I have read that a factory reset "should" fix this, but I am running with an encrypted file system and thus I cannot simply make a data dump from TWRP. Also, although I can access the "USB preferences" setting (which I have set to default to "File transfer" anyhow), I cannot get it to mount on my Linux workstation (which has not been a problem before) -- I do get a device named "20160907_11062618" with the autorun.inf and such files, but the "OnePlus" device will not mount via MTP.
What else can I try to recover my encrypted data, before I inevitably re-flash this device? Can I use fastboot to decrypt and mount the phone's "sdcard" storage on my workstation, if so with which commands?
Ahr well ... I did not find any way around this...
I did a factory reset ---losing all my encrypted data in "/sdcard"--- and started over.
