No, it's not miui matter.
I sleep arround 4 hours and it just drain 2% (from 75% to 73%).
I think ur device draining faster is because ur background apps, services, or etc. :fingers-crossed:

Is ur bootloader still locked or u have unlock it?

i go to 2 different service centre
both say
battery drain because high specification+background running app.
battery drain ing with(more)/without(less) use of mobile.
no other solution for it, at present.

Yeah, it can also be a reason for sure.
But, the 3rd installed apps, the services of the bloatware, or the background cached app, it can also make ur device drain more faster.
Mine got 9h SOT.
+ Debloat all mi apps (except music, calculator, calendar, etc)
+ Installed module (magisk): lkt and sys config patcher
+ Flash Evira kernel 2.0
+ Installed apps: naptime and kernel auditor to change the governor of kernel to alucardsched
Now i feel freedom.

I think it because of xiaomi service (framework).
I have debloat it with the saki tool, non-root user can use too.

Absolutely no, in the saki's tool (xiaomi adb/fastboot) those apps must be safe if u wanna to debloat it. :fingers-crossed:

Yes of course, after you click unlock on mi unlock tool suddenly ur phone will erase all data.
You can backup first one by one, after you ready, you can unlock ur bootloader, be safe :fingers-crossed:

It seemed to me that VoLTE might be causing battery drain on my Note 7. After a few hours of not using the phone, where I'd normally expect the battery level to drop by 0.5% an hour, it was much more than that. Although I have to admit that I sometimes used Whatsapp Web in those periods and one of those cases might have been affected by that. I'm also using 2 SIM cards, both on 4G but the other carrier does not support VoLTE, so it was always off.
So to test things out I've had VoLTE disabled for a few days now and idle battery use seems to be more economical. This is inconclusive, I have to test with and without VoLTE for a bit longer, but have you guys maybe experienced this?
Regarding the Li-Po battery, as it is non-replaceable, I started taking better care of it than on my previous phones. I use AccuBattery to notify me to unplug the charger before the battery reaches 80%. Also, I tend to charge it from 15 to 75% or so whenever I don't need long battery hours. I recharge fully if I know I'll need a lot of juice, but the phone's battery is quite large, so I'd like to preserve it when possible. Battery University says frequent deep discharges (nearing 0%) are harmful to your battery, while AccuBattery says the only issue is high voltage (when the battery is at 80–100%). They coincide in the high voltage issue, but AccuBattery tries to disprove BU's claims about deep discharges.
To be on the safe side, I'm trying to keep it in the middle for now. What are your opinions about this?

My phone battery was at 27% before I sleep. I put it in economy mode and when I woke up (4 hours later) it was 12%.
I desativate all my background apps, Facebook, Whatsapp and even so it is drainning so fast.

Xiaomi Service Framework is a bloatware that Xiaomi mainly uses for data gathering.
Also MSA can be disabled too.

Experiencing bad battery life, unsure why.

S7 Edge Exynos global version I am using.
So, usually I can get 30 hours on battery but today suddenly my battery dropped 1% every 30 minutes when not using it. I am using Nova Launcher with energy bar running overlay on screen; wifi on; cell on. Anything else isn't on.
Following I have modified:
Developer options: running processes set to no background processes.
WiFi scanning and bluetooth sharing off.
I really want to avoid factory resetting as last resort.
My standby time is usually 1% every 1 hour 19 minutes.
I've even used Greenify to force stop apps when I'm not using my phone.
I will provide screenshots soon.

I hope so too. I will update in a day or two how my battery is going.
In the future if I occur the same problem, then I will reply here.
Unfortunately my battery dies 1% every two to three minutes. Last time it was 4 or 5 minutes.
An hour screen one time should only be about 14% drain Max.
Really need to solve the problem quick

Download booster is on, but I turned off mobile data. It helps me see if I have 4G without changing to data manually.
I've greenified all apps and disabled as many stock apps as I didn't need.
Quite strange how everything was ok until yesterday quite annoying.

That's a good idea. Completely drain your phone, then let it charge to 100%. Also, since your phone isn't rooted you might want to steer away from Greenify and just disable the apps you don't use through the phone itself and letting the apps sleep normally.

You are going to have worse battery life than most regardless because you have terrible signal. Your phone is constantly pushing power to the radio just to keep the connection alive. You'd probably gain a ton of battery life just by simply going to 3g or even 2g when you are on WiFi.
If you signal is still this bad where WiFi isn't available you'll have poor battery life compared to most on any phone.

Signal aside, I still had better battery life two days ago than now. So far I've been having 2 hours 30 minutes SOT and 10 hours on battery with only 40% left.
I never had to change signal to get good battery life before.

Q & A Reference + Battery Drain fix

UPDATE : There is NO FIX , Nothing CAN FIX IT ! Its Sony's Problem and they never acknowledge it , Not Sure why some users can get good battery life, custom kernel perhaps.
Q & A Section (I have problems where other users don't)
1. My Wifi is slow and frequently disconnects
- The issue ONLY persist on the first oreo update , it is somehow fixed in the second update
- It could be your router settings (Beacon / DTIM Interval)
2. This phone cant connect to my car's bluetooth / any bluetooth device
- Try to delete your car's bluetooth device from your phone and do the same for the car too
- Restart your phone
- Turn bluetooth on if it is off , try pairing them again
- If all else fails its either your cars audio system is buggy or your phone's carrier software is buggy
3. The phone overheats
- Electronics will get hot according to physics , many factors such as surrounding temperature affects the temp of the phone
- Pushing your phone to play games while in a bathroom will of course make it hot too
- Use HWMonitor to check the temp, if its over 65 degrees celsius = shut it down and let it cool
4. The phone lags and when battery below 30% but is so l33t when plugged in
- Check if stamina is on (stamina mode has three different levels , be sure to analyse them prior)
- If stamina is off then there is nothing wrong with your phone, its because when the battery level is low the phone tries to stay as long as it can
To make this work, your phone will throttle down the cpu power (clocks) to a lower level = saving power
- In conjunction , the low battery level can also lead to the battery unable to supply enough voltage for all the SoC in the phone

I have actually locked bootloader xz. When google app or playservices goes crazy or a little crazy, battery is awful. When are OK ,battery seems good. Better than nougat. Try to enter on playservices beta test. This problem is discussed on web. It happens on all android phones. Is google service side problem. It is a case it is happened on xz with oreo. Because it is the same period when google come crazy on playservices. Try to put beta play services and then reboot phone after you notice the upgrade .It is a first test. Depends by google side. Because it happens on Samsung,Asus ,one plus ecc. . Different devices, and different android version(i notice this on nougat and marshmallow too). So blame Google. And when playservices drains ,my phone becames hot a little without do anything. Playservices drains expecially when you use GPS on high accuracy .
After the Play Services update 11.9.51 about a week ago the random battery drops are gone, battery life has been the same as nougat for me (5-6 hours of sot). That's a comfortable 2 days with 0-1% drop overnight.

@eddieleon7pc why you say that Sony lack of optimizzation is the culprit too? The playservices thing happens too on other oem... Not Sony only.

On battery graph appears playservices? Or Google app? If is yes and have some strange drains... Playservices are perstist in drains(but you can notice it after more hours) . There are various method, not only install playservices beta. For example, try to delete cache on playstore, then on playservices and then unistall updates of playservices. Then reupdate playservices to last beta version and wait other charge cycle. Drain for me is, actually fine(because sometimes playservices returns to became crazy... It's all Google side) . The right drain for xz. Other oem with same soc and more battery have worse battery than xz. Thank Sony optimizzation here.

Excessive Battery Drain

Hello everyone, I am experiencing the worst battery life I could ever get from a phone, Any way to help it get better? I need to charge my phone 2-3 times daily!
Here are the screenshots of the usage.
Same here as well. I'm on the new Oreo that now has been pulled. Lots of errors, missing picture in picture, but biggest mistake is that all files are allowed to be installed without consent!. How to now go easy back to Nougat?

Go to device maintenance click on battery. Click on MID choose customize option at the top before you apply. I just leave the limit cpu speed on. I get over an hour sot every 18% YouTube alot and music. Only thing is apps start to lag when you switch really fast. But it probably won't if you don't close it. I have a habit of closing all apps before I turn my phone off. Whatever govener Samsung is using always max out the cup when you click something which drains the crap out of the battery. I use to charge my phone every half of the day until I did this. Closing and disabling apps didn't help at the beginning. This was the most effective way for me to see a big difference. Btw using auto brightness at 45%

having data on chows battery, phone is excessively pinging towers, if you are on WiFi disable data in settings, make sure your location is set to battery saving (if using GPS yr battery will suffer, plus one only needs GPS for navigation), there are a bunch of bloatware apps and processes that run continually so install a package disabler or use a debloater to remove the 'junk'.

Havng data on 24/7 will hurt, even just 2g/3g as phone is pinging towers for 3G, if you are i wifi area switch of Data, that'll be worth 20%
After Oreo update, I'm having the best battery saving of all time.
0.8%/h on stand-by (using dual Sim cards). 6-7h SOT. On Nougat, it was 3%/h on stand-by and only 4-5h SOT.
I did 4 things to achieve it (without root):
1. I followed this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/guide-hunting-wakelocks-battery-drain-t3697324
Note: "Service Disabler" functionality was removed due to Google Play policies. Fortunately, the developers provided the previous apk with this functionality at their website: https://kunkunsoft.wordpress.com/news_2/
2. Switched to 3G when 4G signal was weak (2-3 bars).
3. Used Brevent app (must use adb commands every reboot, unfortunately): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.piebridge.brevent
4. Used Tasker to: disable WiFi when Screen-off (except when Spotify is playing); disable Auto-Sync when Screen-off and enable it every 20 minutes; put Location Services to Battery Saving when Screen-Off (except when Waze or GMaps is running) and High Precision when Screen-On.
AutoTools (Tasker plugin) will let you modify some of those adjustments even without root (must enable it once via adb commands).
BBS and GSam are great tools to find out what's draining your juice. For me, it was mainly wlan_wakelocks (due to bad WiFi configuration), nlp_wakelocks (apps and Google apps draining when High-Precision is on), and Auto-Sync. Sometimes it's harder to identify the culprit because many apps wakelocks are hidden in Kernel wakelocks, so the first step above helped me significantly reduce Kernel wakelocks.
Cheers. ?

You have used your S8 continuously within 6-7hrs.. S8 does not have bigger battery plus the apps like facebook, other social media apps drain battery like hell... getting 3-4 hours of Screen on Time is quite OK not Bad...
try using other app for facebook.. like FRIENDLY.. it almost same as facebook and battery friendly also...

GBWhatsapp aka Whatsapp Plus.
I use it most of the time that's why it uses much battery.

That's interesting, I use it all the time as well and for me it never goes above 2% or 3%. Only thing is that I don't do calls.
See my other post here.

Huge battery drain! Tried almost everything

I bought the mi A1 about 9 months ago and it was working fine up until 6 weeks ago.
The battery has started to drain big time and the Android system is consuming most of the power.
I've tried the below already,
1. Calibrating my battery.
2. Factory reset to January update.
3. Stopping the apps running in the background.
4. Turning off location / wifi and internet.
5. Tried disabling backup of photos.
6. Disabled app preview messages under Google.
7. Tried replacing the physical battery at the service center.
8. Currently running on the June 2018 patch.
Despite doing all this the battery drains big time, even when it's idle, when I'm sleeping.
I'm unable to upload screenshot because it keeps saying that there's a network issue. But the screenshot stats say that the android os consumes most of the battery and SoT was 30 minutes. Phone was idle for most of the time. It came down 100-20% in a few hours.
Android OS is eating away most of the battery.
Does anyone have suggestions or a solution for this? It's really annoying.
Download GSAM Battery Monitor and enable extra stats via the app and a few simple commands through PC. Check what is draining your battery its probably the same thing which is killing my battery in stand by. There are hundreds and thousands of Kernel wake locks via a file called 7000000.ssusb which has no permanent solutions yet.

Thank you for the response. A few other forums indicated 7000000.ssusb could be the cause too. Is there anything at all to disable it?
you could try the following if you are rooted :

Flash Void kernel.

Void kernel doesn't block wakelocks. If that is your main concern, flash MetaPheonix or Mint kernel. Visit their respective XDA posts and check out.

what are the top drainers when you go to :
1) settings
2) battery
3) press on the ellipse ( three vertical dots ) in the upper right corner and choose 'battery usage'.
. . . for me, my largest app usage is aodNodify at a whopping 20 percent, followed by messages.
4) press on the ellipse again and choose 'Show full device usage'.
. . . for me it's Screen at 20 percent, and then Wi-Fi at 11 percent.
(hth)

I get 10 hours with 120hz and FHD so no need to disable that.
Tbh besides what @old_fart said the main killers are
5G
Facebook
Not wiping after a major system upgrade ie; 10 to 11
Poor kernel
Misbehaving Google play services
AOD (looks great, kills battery)
Charging overnight (eventually this will murder your battery)
Gaming
Video calling
Misbehaving rogue app.
Misbehaving launcher.
Ads ( block them all)
You get the picture, I've compiled a large list of problems and suggested alternatives in the review section of this forum, can't remember which one but a lot of good tips are in there, give them a look.
Attached Battery status.
The Os was cleaned after the upgrade to Os 11.
AOD - is switched off.
5G - Not working anyway.. disabled.

Good to all that.
Are you on stock OS or any kernels installed? Magisk ROMs?
It's possible if your phones just been set up that it may be backing up/ syncing Google photos.
Go through your apps and make sure that there set up optimise instead of intelligent control.
Facebook is always a killer, maybe use the browser version it's not much different, personally I'd delete the account and every bit of info in it, hate Facebook
I would say OOS11 drains more battery than OOS10. I game a lot and my battery lasted longer on OOS10.

Depends on the game for me.
Emulation is a good test and it runs about the same for me.
I have tweaked my CPU thresholds though.
So there is no difference in up or down actions or peak speeds, all of which i reduce
Im using stock rom my SOT is about 5-6hrs tops and i keep seeing people with 10+ SOT with stock rom..
Might be faulty phone? what's you're settings and configs?

Stock mate.
I've used some magisk ROMs then I realised I can actually make the changes I want to myself.
I've used CRDroid and PE but I missed the OOS camera, battery was very similar to what i have in OOS but gaming does burn the candle a lot faster
Here's that list I made in the standby drain the in the review section, I made it a while back so some may no longer apply
"Change 5G to 4G
Remove Facebook use web based
Remove Facebook messenger use web based
Remove Twitter use web based
Remove any ad based apps pay for the pro version
Turn off gestures like lift to wake
Change from QHD to FHD (No difference)
Allow auto brightness
Turn off WiFi overnight
Turn all updates to manual not auto (play store)
Remove any so you don't use
Change back up to once a month (WhatsApp)
Turn off location history (Google)
Use titanium to remove any system apps you don't need
Don't allow anonymous usage statistics for any app ever.
Don't allow tracking cookies on any website
Use adaway (root needed)
Don't open web pages in Google app (I use Samsung browser)
Don't use xposed.
If you game you will not get high SOT scores, period.
Don't bother with battery saving apps or monitoring apps.
Streamline your apps, if you don't use it, remove it.
Don't allow WiFi scanning (as in letting other apps use it when it's not on)
Never allow personalised ads.
Never allow notifications from websites
Always decline cookies unless your absolutely have to allow some tracking (common sense prevails here)
Optimise as many apps as possible unless it affects performance.
Don't allow apps to remain open in the notification area.
Change your launcher, my preferred launcher is lawn chair and this did actually burn up some battery when compared to the OnePlus launcher.
Don't use live widgets (yes they look cool, but they annihilate your battery)
Live wallpaper, again very cool, but battery burners.
Again! Don't charge overnight, make a note of your percentage then see what it is in the morning, you shouldn't be losing more than 5% really, if you've done well then it'll be reflected here, the good SOT results will follow.
Turn off live read outs of network speed, RAM usage in the status bar.
Turn off NFC unless in use.
Leave location on in quick settings.
Don't overcharge your phone, IE: overnight
Don't allow your phone to fully deplete the battery.
Whatever anyone says, this does 100% damage batteries, there is no argument here and I won't entertain anyone who says otherwise, Ive seen through real life tests what this results in, bloated, inefficient, possibly dangerous lithium batteries.
Keep your phone out the sun.
Keep it out of extreme cold.
Keep your device clean dust free.
Snapchat, Viber, house party, apps like that tends to use more battery as they don't have great dormancy periods.
Apps like speed test by Ookla tend to have location tracking, similarly they tend to turn themselves on and off when they feel like it, my advice, install test and uninstall.
Allow a couple of battery cycles between tweaking sets, to give you an idea of how much of a difference you've made.
Use BBS to see what is being used, once you've removed problems, remove BBS.
I've just written this from the top of my head so o probably missed some things, the general idea is to keep your device clean and fresh, remove files you don't need any more.
Keep an eye on apps that misbehave or aren't wanted, index your folders so they aren't a mess
The more good things you do means the more potentially bad apps you can have on your phone, eg if you really need Facebook, you could keep it so long as you clean up other areas of your phone"
Good luck
Based on some years of experience i would add to this amazing and great list:
- Only use either wi-fi or 3g/4G/5g at a time. Alternate between them. ( ex. leave home - off wifi - on 4G, arrive home - off 4G - on Wi-Fi ) Don't use both on all day long. Battery will drain.
- Use sync off ( Playstore (mentioned above) and "sync app data" ). Only turn on when you want the phone to update and shut if off after.
Disabled some weird facebook management apps and it looks a bit better, currently 25hr's with no charge, 68% battery left and 1:48hr's of SOT.
Will test it for few days and update.
Not the most apps used today but still heading for 10 hours.
Lot of painful lost bets today.
Well, my battery now lasts longer on idle, but SOT while using it is still 6hrs
Some other guys from Facebook groups shows about 10hr's of SOT with QHD + 120HZ..
