what are the top drainers when you go to :
1) settings
2) battery
3) press on the ellipse ( three vertical dots ) in the upper right corner and choose 'battery usage'.
. . . for me, my largest app usage is aodNodify at a whopping 20 percent, followed by messages.
4) press on the ellipse again and choose 'Show full device usage'.
. . . for me it's Screen at 20 percent, and then Wi-Fi at 11 percent.

I get 10 hours with 120hz and FHD so no need to disable that.
Tbh besides what @old_fart said the main killers are
5G
Facebook
Not wiping after a major system upgrade ie; 10 to 11
Poor kernel
Misbehaving Google play services
AOD (looks great, kills battery)
Charging overnight (eventually this will murder your battery)
Gaming
Video calling
Misbehaving rogue app.
Misbehaving launcher.
Ads ( block them all)
You get the picture, I've compiled a large list of problems and suggested alternatives in the review section of this forum, can't remember which one but a lot of good tips are in there, give them a look.
Attached Battery status.
The Os was cleaned after the upgrade to Os 11.
AOD - is switched off.
5G - Not working anyway.. disabled.

Good to all that.
Are you on stock OS or any kernels installed? Magisk ROMs?
It's possible if your phones just been set up that it may be backing up/ syncing Google photos.
Go through your apps and make sure that there set up optimise instead of intelligent control.
Facebook is always a killer, maybe use the browser version it's not much different, personally I'd delete the account and every bit of info in it, hate Facebook
I would say OOS11 drains more battery than OOS10. I game a lot and my battery lasted longer on OOS10.

Depends on the game for me.
Emulation is a good test and it runs about the same for me.
I have tweaked my CPU thresholds though.
So there is no difference in up or down actions or peak speeds, all of which i reduce
Im using stock rom my SOT is about 5-6hrs tops and i keep seeing people with 10+ SOT with stock rom..
Might be faulty phone? what's you're settings and configs?

Stock mate.
I've used some magisk ROMs then I realised I can actually make the changes I want to myself.
I've used CRDroid and PE but I missed the OOS camera, battery was very similar to what i have in OOS but gaming does burn the candle a lot faster
Here's that list I made in the standby drain the in the review section, I made it a while back so some may no longer apply
"Change 5G to 4G
Remove Facebook use web based
Remove Facebook messenger use web based
Remove Twitter use web based
Remove any ad based apps pay for the pro version
Turn off gestures like lift to wake
Change from QHD to FHD (No difference)
Allow auto brightness
Turn off WiFi overnight
Turn all updates to manual not auto (play store)
Remove any so you don't use
Change back up to once a month (WhatsApp)
Turn off location history (Google)
Use titanium to remove any system apps you don't need
Don't allow anonymous usage statistics for any app ever.
Don't allow tracking cookies on any website
Use adaway (root needed)
Don't open web pages in Google app (I use Samsung browser)
Don't use xposed.
If you game you will not get high SOT scores, period.
Don't bother with battery saving apps or monitoring apps.
Streamline your apps, if you don't use it, remove it.
Don't allow WiFi scanning (as in letting other apps use it when it's not on)
Never allow personalised ads.
Never allow notifications from websites
Always decline cookies unless your absolutely have to allow some tracking (common sense prevails here)
Optimise as many apps as possible unless it affects performance.
Don't allow apps to remain open in the notification area.
Change your launcher, my preferred launcher is lawn chair and this did actually burn up some battery when compared to the OnePlus launcher.
Don't use live widgets (yes they look cool, but they annihilate your battery)
Live wallpaper, again very cool, but battery burners.
Again! Don't charge overnight, make a note of your percentage then see what it is in the morning, you shouldn't be losing more than 5% really, if you've done well then it'll be reflected here, the good SOT results will follow.
Turn off live read outs of network speed, RAM usage in the status bar.
Turn off NFC unless in use.
Leave location on in quick settings.
Don't overcharge your phone, IE: overnight
Don't allow your phone to fully deplete the battery.
Whatever anyone says, this does 100% damage batteries, there is no argument here and I won't entertain anyone who says otherwise, Ive seen through real life tests what this results in, bloated, inefficient, possibly dangerous lithium batteries.
Keep your phone out the sun.
Keep it out of extreme cold.
Keep your device clean dust free.
Snapchat, Viber, house party, apps like that tends to use more battery as they don't have great dormancy periods.
Apps like speed test by Ookla tend to have location tracking, similarly they tend to turn themselves on and off when they feel like it, my advice, install test and uninstall.
Allow a couple of battery cycles between tweaking sets, to give you an idea of how much of a difference you've made.
Use BBS to see what is being used, once you've removed problems, remove BBS.
I've just written this from the top of my head so o probably missed some things, the general idea is to keep your device clean and fresh, remove files you don't need any more.
Keep an eye on apps that misbehave or aren't wanted, index your folders so they aren't a mess
The more good things you do means the more potentially bad apps you can have on your phone, eg if you really need Facebook, you could keep it so long as you clean up other areas of your phone"
Good luck
Based on some years of experience i would add to this amazing and great list:
- Only use either wi-fi or 3g/4G/5g at a time. Alternate between them. ( ex. leave home - off wifi - on 4G, arrive home - off 4G - on Wi-Fi ) Don't use both on all day long. Battery will drain.
- Use sync off ( Playstore (mentioned above) and "sync app data" ). Only turn on when you want the phone to update and shut if off after.
Disabled some weird facebook management apps and it looks a bit better, currently 25hr's with no charge, 68% battery left and 1:48hr's of SOT.
Will test it for few days and update.
Not the most apps used today but still heading for 10 hours.
Lot of painful lost bets today.
Well, my battery now lasts longer on idle, but SOT while using it is still 6hrs
Some other guys from Facebook groups shows about 10hr's of SOT with QHD + 120HZ..

I have been one of the unlucky ones experiencing serious / ridiculous battery drain. I was losing around 10-15% an hour just on idle....
With minimal use I was having to recharge everyday after just 8-9 hours.
So what have I done?
Last night I flashed the latest version of Lightning ROM, available on these forums. Not only is it an excellent ROM, but it appears to have fixed the issue. The only other thing I have changed is to uninstall the Beautiful Widgets App. No other changes.
After nearly 4 hours battery is showing 91%, to compare I have normally been on 60% after 4 hours.
Hope this helps someone!

But, how has been the use? Data On? 2G/3G? etc..
do we need another thread for this? I had the same issue, all I did was to factory reset and install only the necessary things. Now, I'm pretty much on par with you and I still have beautiful widget on (I just can't live without it )
But it's all about the usage scenario - I can have 99% after 4hrs as well as below 50% depending on this.
I'm on stock KE7, phone on for 21 hours and still have 72% left.
sync on, 3g on. weather updating every 3hrs.
Dont see what the problem is with stock....?!?!?
The main consuming part is the screen.

There is just no consistency here and Google need to find a way to get to grips with this. I am using exactly the same usage pattern as before (data on, 3 hour updates, lattitude) and am now receiving 75% increase in battery life by simply flashing a different ROM.
You cannot imagine how frustrating it is, hearing how wonderful other people's battery life is when you are struggling to get half a day.
The reason for another thread is because I'm so relieved and wanted to share

Never had any battery drain with my KE2 stock.
Have a great battery life with the following settings:
1. rooted
2. deleted all not necessary apps with root explorer or if not shure freezed in Titanium Backup

3. disabled automatic background transactions in settings
4. disabled all animations in settings (keep it simple)
5. use a dark background image / also for lockscreen
6. using a light launcher (zeam launcher gives definetely bet battery live compare ADW Launcher EX or Go Launcher EX)
7. recharge battery when it's empty for around 8 hours (i.e. at night)
8. Disable HSDPA and just use 3G (no speed difference but battery) with *#301279#
9.Thumbnails and some database's could get corrupted making the media scanner running berserk, resulting in battery drain.
Delete the following:
dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.media
dbdata/databases/com.cooliris.media
And clear the thumbnails folders on sd cards.thanks nitr8

there are some who thinks they have bought a battery saver instad of the best smartphone in the world......
why to"keep it simple" ?
knock yourself out!!! with a grate pice of technology
"batterycalibration" - Check the market place... Ignore the negative comments from people who dont understand how battery stats work
P.S. Incase your wondering... Yes it does work
As ridiculous as this seems and as skeptical as I was, I tried this .... and it worked?!
Thanks for the advice .. I guess something with up with VillainRom or something because just changing to Lightning rom has solved things for me right away!
Hey guys, so ive had my nexus 4 for around 4 months now? might be more and the battery is just terrible, obviously we already know this as ive seen so many people post about it and such
my question is this, what do you guys use to save battery? Im currently on XYLON ROM with Perf-enhanced-Stock-422 kernel which isnt bad, theres nothing wrong with it in fact but i literally only get around 2 hours screen on time, terrible i know
ive heard people say flash android 4.2.2 and then flash a custom rom, apparently it helps or something? not fact but ive seen a few people solve it with this issue
What kind of roms and kernels are you guys using? And what governor?
Cheers guys, Jack
I've seen most people running Franco kernel with either cyanogen mod 10.1, PAC or paranoid android. You'll probably get a similar battery life with all of them, and probably the best your going to get.
Check your wake locks, use juice defender, check you're not dropping in and out of signal (hammers battery), turn of location settings...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
AKOP or CM with franco give me hours (4+) of calling or 1.5 days of moderate use.
I also have notification widgets on so I can quickly switch BT/WIFI/Brightness AND I make use of nfc tags so when I'm home wifi is auto turned on and when in the car it turns off.
From my experience, these battery saving apps such as juice defender are not good, you shouldn't use them.
About the battery life, there are tons of recommendations... stop syncing, turn brightness to as low as possible, turn off 3G when you don't need it...
Dont use your phone..
Seriously now, the battery is not bad at all, and in battery usage cases you need to state your usage of the phone (games, mail, 3g on most of the time? widgets? surfing and screen on time)
Without those parameters none can determine if you have wakelocks problem / some app is draining your battery or eventually maybe it's only psychological problem
Take in mind even on auto brightness, if you are playing heavy games dont expect to last a day or so..
Tricepz is on the money!
Need to analyze Your usage!
Most importantly you need to understand that this is not a primary game console or music player.
Things that drain battery fast!
1) Live Wallpaper
2) Games
3) Phone calls
4) Equalizers
5) Apps
Best to monitor your usage!
Personally I use the phone as follows for 16 to 22 hrs of usage.
Bus
1) 4 hrs of music with quality headphones that have noise canceling tech. Abel Planet 200b with built in amplifier.
2) 3 phone calls a day!
3) No games ! Have a tablet for that
4) Minimal reader for new feeds only updates once a day.
5) Music app either Apollo or NexMusic great music players without equalizer. simple controls.
On an average day headed to work paying bills I see 10 to 12 hrs easy.
Busy day on my phone 8 to 10 hrs.
Turn off services you don't need or use.
WIFI - Turn it off when you leave your house and when you don't need it. Leaving it on will drain power as it will continue to scan for a connection.
GPS - Turn off your GPS if you don't need.
Sync - Sync when you need to. Turn it off and access it manually.
Bluetooth - Turn it off when you don't need it
Location services - Go to the Settings menu and head over to Location access and switch "Access to my location" to off.
Backup services - Head over "Backup & Reset" and uncheck "Back up my data".
Screen brightness - The lower the brightness, the more power you'll save.
Apps - Applications like facebook and Google Maps will remain online as it runs in the background. As a result it will drain your battery. It can prevent your phone from entering deep-sleep to preserve power.
Signal - Connection is very important. If you're in a area where service is low to poor, your phone will draw more power to stay connected to the nearest cell antenna/tower. It's best to turn off on connections if you're in a no service area. Simply put the phone in "Airplane mode".
Usage - Battery life is dependent to whatever tasks you are performing on your phone. If you play games daily for a long period of time, then you should expect the battery to decrease dramatically. Conversely, if you just email, text, browse the web, make calls, little to no games then your battery life of the phone should last for quite a long time.
Useful apps
Greenify - This application allows you to hibernate apps from starting up like facebook, Google Maps and many more annoying apps that run in the background when they shouldn't be running. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5vYXNpc2ZlbmcuZ3JlZW5pZnkiXQ..
Wakelock Detector - This wonderful app identifies apps that running during your usage and sees which one has been running the longest without your consent. You can use this with Greenify. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS51enVtYXBwcy53YWtlbG9ja2RldGVjdG9yIl0.
BetteryBatteryStats - Similar to wakelock detector but offers a more in-depth look of wakelocks that active during your usage. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wiY29tLmFza3N2ZW4uYmV0dGVyYmF0dGVyeXN0YXRzIl0.
Kernels and roms
One major reason why root is amazing. Kernels offer tweaks that are beneficial for the phone to perform smoother and offer amazing battery life. Offers more tweaks as well like gamma and undervolting. Roms can contribute a small portion of battery saving but not much.
Did I miss anything else?
Adding Maps to Greenify usually helps a lot regarding battery life, can leave GPS on for other apps when doing this and won't suck any battery.
try franco or faux and then UV and UO ` its works for me, 4+ screen time easily :fingers-crossed:
I didnt expect so many comments! ive used franko kernel and air kernel before and no change
ill try some of them apps that everyone has mentioned
again thanks guys! Jack
Just use a ROM for a while, let the battery do some cycles, and use the phone for that, as a phone, remember that we have a Quad Core here, i'm on stock rooted only, and last night i get 12h20m37s with 4h48m SOT with about 7% left, so that's pretty good. And i really use my phone, Twitter, Flipboard, G+, Wifi on all the way, Sync on.

With 80% left I have 1hr of screen on and 10mins of call time, this is with whatever kernel the latest CM nightly is using, so yeah you could definitely get better but I have to think facebook is the contributor since I too have twitter (plume) and tumblr without the same battery drain.
greenify is a must to disable rude apps which do thing without asking, like facebook, games, etc, they connect to internet to download ads and sttuff, facebook being the worse cpu eater
i use 2g only, wify in home, disable wifi outside,
only wassap active, some opera mini browsing, pics, talk, sms, little gaming, i get 1.5 days
off course heavy gaming kills the battery, because of 3d, even 2d games drain the battery because of the screen, like angry birds
using stock 422 + franco
I like to use JuiceDefender only when the phone's battery gets really low and I want to sacrifice some functionality. It works well, but only if you allow it to keep 3G/Wifi off when the screen is off.
I use facebook so much though, ugh :/ ill give it a go and if the battery lasts longer then ill get rid of it
single biggest difference I've seen is to stay on wifi all the time as much as possible. I leave it on no matter what. Granted if you are out and about, it won't help but once you get to home/work/friends/etc, your phone will immediately connect and start saving you juice.
91% after 8 hours with light usage at work. With 3G, I normally would be approaching 60-70% by now with light usage. That 3G drain is real and should be avoided whenever possible.
Don't play games. It seems like no matter what game I play, it'll almost always lock my cpu to the max frequency until I exit. Even really simple non graphics intense games.
Well ideally you're biggest battery drainer should be the the display. If it's not then read below.
1) So for the screen the best way to go is to get a stable custom rom like xenon and tinker with the auto brightness settings. Tweak out auto brightness settings to your liking (they're generally very overbright by default) and you'll see major increases in data.
2) Screen aside your other biggest drainer is cell radio. Particularly if you're in a low signal area it will drain your battery really fast. So if your using wifi anyway be sure to turn data off and switch to 2g. That way you'll have a strong signal and 2g drains less battery anyway.
3) As some people have mentioned already. rogue apps. Social networking apps are a huge drainer in this regard. Especially facebook. You just can't have that app on your phone and get decent battery. As for other apps which draw on unnecessary background data, Greenify their a**es.
Hi
I see a lot of people on here complaining about the battery life on this phone, when in fact it's quite good. I have been able to pull off 3.30 hours SOT today with 40% left and 18 hours since unplugged with not even half the settings below (only turning off the things I don't use at all) and my Smart Watch connected with bluetooth all day.
I came from a Xperia Z3 before and of course it's nothing compared to that one (even tho, at times I get higher SOT) but the Galaxy S6 is also capable of way more.
When I first started with the phone, I was one of those that got barely 2 hours SOT so here I will write down the tips & tricks I gathered from reading on here and the things I found out myself.
First of, if you rooted, the cause could be no deep sleep. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/battery-drain-root-twrp-to-fix-t3088860 by Meboy.
If you have deep sleep this might do it.
1. Disable voLTE as it's not really needed. Phoneapp -> More -> Disable it from there.
2. As this is a amoled screen, each background light, light up individually, so having a black background (and black theme in apps) safe a lot of juice.
3. Wifi -> More -> uncheck always searching for wifi.
4. Settings -> search -> Trust Agents -> Disable Smart Lock if not using it. It use quite some battery even when not used (no idea why).
5. Update Samsung Push Service from App Store.
6. Disable movements and gestures if not using them. Settings -> Movements and gestures.
7. My Google Services used way to much battery. I found the app, deleted the data and it came "back in control", so it's acceptable with the battery drain now.
8. The Gmail app use less juice than the stock Email app.
9. Sync, NFC, GPS and off when not using. I only have mobile data on all the time.
10. If in low coverage area of 4g, use HSPA instead (if good coverage). I barely notice any different in speed, but my phone use way less battery in deep sleep now. Still at 100% after 8-9 hours of sleep when on HSPA (good signal) from 4g (very bad signal) where it could use over 5% a night.
11. Settings -> Availability -> Direct access -> Turn on -> Grayscale on. 3 taps on the home button will turn Grayscale on, which greatly reduce the power your screen consume. No need to have it on all the time. But at times, when you know you gotta need the battery, turn it on by 3 clicks on the home button and your screen will use less battery.
12. The Facebook and Messenger app use quite a lot of battery. But I need the Messenger app, but I deleted and disabled the Facebook app (remember to disable it too, as - no idea why - it still used battery even tho I was logged out. As the Facebook app is stock on the S6) and just use the web browser Facebook app. Works fine.
13. Other apps I disabled is:
Drive
Facebook
Everything with Google in front of it. Google books, play, now, plus etc.
Hangouts
Instagram
Onedrive
S Health and S Voice
Skype and Whatsapp
Just disable the apps you don't use.
14. Battery saver. If you don't want to have it on all the time, set it to a certain %, so that when your battery hit that % it turns on. Helps greatly improve battery life.
15. Greenify apps that run in the background, but no need to. Like
Dropbox
9gag
MyFitnessPal
Wordfeud
etc
Don't disable apps you use all the time, like Messenger, Chrome, Snapchat and so on, as you will not get any notifications and it use more battery opening them up all the time.
16. Instead of using auto-brightness, set it as low as you can tolerate.
17. Vibration off - Feedback, keyboard and ringing. Vibration use quite some juice.
18. Turn google location history off. Can't remember where, but a fast Google search will tell you.
19. Have been reports about high usage if restoring from old phone or google/samsung account.
20. Heard someone say this, but not sure what other side effects it have. But he said that you could disable Google Services, as there is a wakelock bug on 5.0.2 and it should work fine if not using other Google apps. But not sure on this one!
21. Widgets are cool, but they have a drawback. Some of them use quite some battery too, like weather apps.
I know some of those things will turn your phone into a dumb phone, but this is clearly tips to improve battery life. No need to use everything all the time. Turn off the things you can live with all the time and the rest you can turn off and on as you like and when you need it.
EDIT: Tasker is also pretty neat with secure settings if you know how it works.
Then your phone can automatically turn GPS on when opening apps that use GPS and turn it off afterwards.
Thank you for this, im not a heavy user but hell im seeing 30+ hrs on the phone ... cant complain
s6 made me do it

Agreed! This phone have lasted me a weekend! 1-2 hours SOT a day, less than 1% battery loss for 10 hours standby time. It have just beaten my Xperia Z3.
Great thread it really helped a lot
Man although I'm very pleased with battery life already, this is an excellent guide bro. This should be stickied in my opinion.

hi everyone,
I'm hearing praise everywhere about how great this battery has been with people getting at least 8 to even 12 hours of SOT (average seems to be 10).
so how come my device clearly is much worse in this regard?
I activated black theme wherever I can, turned of scanning for BT and WiFi , use low brightness, the apps I use are not intensive AT ALL (no gaming, no Facebook) , I wiped the device cache, I resteicted battery usage of 155 apps .
it seems that Google play services is somewhat of a problem (which is why I cleared play services , Google and play store cache, as well as resteicted play services usage data), however it isn't even the biggest battery drain . also turned off face unlock.
I tried turning adaptive battery as well as advanced optimisation options on and off but it didn't seem to make a difference.
What could be the reason for the bad battery life?
can you help me? I want to like this phone but it's impossible when I get consistently less than 6h SOT when already making so many compromises (whereas other people seem to be doing no tweaking and get 11 hours)
http :// imgur.com/a/wCjd3kR (no other format available BC I'm a new member)
Also: why does my wallpaper change every time I reboot my phone?
I wasn't doing to well, then I reset my phone and it has been insanely good. I would say I started stock with adding limited apps. I suspect myfitnesspal was hurting my battery so I use the browser version. Right now I have 60% left, been on for 30 hours with 3 SOT. Aiming for 3 days which I have never done on a stock phone.

So what you're suggesting is that I should do a factory reset and then don't use the OnePlus Switch app (like I previously did) to restore my apps but instead install one by one?
I mean I get it that apps like Strava use up a lot of battery but I don't use it very often and with this light usage I expected twice the SOT tbh..

Yes. I've seen all sorts of crazy reports from people using the switch app. Lag, crashes, now bad battery.
You're so much better off just starting fresh, or using some other back up solution.

Thank you. I will try that on the weekend after monitoring battery life for the days till then. Maybe it randomly resolves itself?
But drag-and-dropping music from my PC (or from my phone to the PC) on the device shouldn't cause corrupt data, right?
Also restricting all these apps and using different kinds of in-built battery savers shouldn't cause reduced battery either, I suppose ? It would be quite counterintuitive.
Sry for asking such naive questions, I'm not very tech-affine
when play services show up as battery hogs the problem is often not within play services but some app using play services.
to save battery many connections (like push notifications) are handled by Google services instead of all apps keeping separate listerners/connections alive. This saves tremendous amounts of battery but makes troubleshooting harder, as the app causing the drain is not showing up under battery stats.
I would also recommend a fresh start.
Don't worry about it so much. 6h SOT is amazing. Set your phone up the way you want it, with the widgets, apps, screen brightness that you want. When was the last time you needed a phone to last three days? I use my phone whenever I want throughout the day: some navigating, some calling, have the screen on for 3-4 hours, and have 30% left when I get home in the evening after 12+ hours off of the charger. Just enjoy the phone.

The last time a phone lasted me three days was my Oneplus One, it had better battery life than this.
I'm enjoying the phone but I want what I paid for and it is not such ****ty battery life.

I practically restricted all apps in both battery and notifications, could that be an issue?
When I factory reset should I not restrict so much this time around (as well as not use OP switch)?
I do not have any app restricted and get during 2 days with 6+h sot.
Also restricting location to GPS only does help save battery. Google now on always listening also drains faster. If you want to use all comfort features that is fine, but you will not get as long battery life and sort compared to ppl not using that stuff
Do a factory reset and then only install the minimum apps you need. when after two days your battery stats do look nice you now know that the device is fine, you can then add more of your apps and monitor what happens.
I personally use titanium backup instead of switch but that requires root.

I don't really have "a lot of comfort features". I battery restricted most of my apps, use blackmode everywhere, hardly receive notifications anymore, and only use low brightness. I'd expect more than 5h SOT.
I just hope it's not the device

I also forgot to mention, I have it set on battery saver, but I mean, I have listened to music thru the speakers for 40 mins, listened to music for about 45 mins over bluetooth, I have a garmin watch that syncs texts and calls, I have real no major compromises (also not rooted, which I have always been a root junky) and I am at 51% with 3.5 SOT with 1.5 hours of voice calls to. I will mention, I froze Chrome and am using Via as my browser, not sure if that is helping or not either.

Before I reset, I was getting like 3 SOT... Lol
Give the reset a go.
Yeah i hear different reports as well. Im coming from a galaxy s7 edge with max 3 to 4 houra sot.
In the same useage i now have 9 or 10 hours sot. I can easily use the phone 3 days. Never using battery saver btw.
That is with youtube, music, facebook, whatsapp, stream blmusic bluetooth to car, snapchat and plain camera. I really am impressed and sometimes worried because i dont know when to charge lol.
I do hope you will get things right. Google account can bleed your battery with syncing in the background all the time. It was a common problem in android 3 till 7 for the devices i had. Sow restricting sync options for your google account may do a little bit for you? Good luck mate, if i can do anything for you, let me know..

Another factor to battery life is your carrier connection. Who do you use? And how is your reception? Bad reception can easily drain a battery.

I guess everyone's definition of "****ty battery life" is different. What you described sounds like pretty awesome battery life at that much SOT and a full day's battery life.

Yeah, that was my OnePlue One though. My OP6T has worse battery life now. How is 5h awesome when the average user of the same phone gets twice the amount without restricting all of their phone functionality?
I am also getting around 5 to 6 SOT... so i decided to facory reset and then just add my daily apps ... hopefully it will get better
I work 8 hours a day, during that time im using wifi, then i drive home and do some things outside sow i use 4g connection.. Then im back home and using wifi again.
I think the biggest difference with you guys and me is, i deleted all the system bloatware apps.. I only kept google calandar and play store. It could be that all theae apps i deleted, is causing you guys a poor batt life, because i havent read anybody saying they did the same.
Drag dropping music from your pc is no prob.
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Huawei P40 Pro before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

12.5 hours? That's insane! Do you mind sharing your settings & tweaks? This phone eats ~10% with screen on and 3% with standby with my regular settings. I do see a difference with or without 90hz, though.
6-6.5h sot on 4g/lte. On WiFi didnt tested because i dont have that many time to check sot only on WiFi . But looks more like 11h easly.

12.5 hours is actually normal. But my settings are 60h, (90hz actually doesn't make much of a difference). I've got several apps disabled too. I always have GPS, Bluetooth, Data, WiFi, 5g Off unless I need to use them. Always on display is switched off. I always have dark mode on.
If I was you I would install Gsam battery monitor and see if any apps are keeping your device awake in the background because 7 hours is way too low

Thanks for sharing, bro. :good:It seems our preferred settings are quite different. I prefer 90hz as my picky eyeballs can tell a big difference . I turned off some of the bloats (but not all), and I keep wifi, AOD, and data on. Honestly, with my regular settings, I'm not expecting it to last longer than 9 hours.
GSam battery monitor has been installed, but I haven't delved into it. My plan is to adb disable a few H apps and watch the difference. I guess you have tested it out, and I'd like to hear your advice.

I can't see much difference with the refresh rate, the phone is smooth af on both settings ?
AOD will drain plenty of battery. I've uninstalled some apps with ABD too, but I uninstalled something I shouldn't have, restarted the phone and the phone wouldn't boot up so I had to do a factory reset ? be careful with what you uninstall with adb?
I'm on 94% at the moment with 1 hour SOT, been using it for Web browsing and WhatsApp.
With gsam I've enabled the extra settings with ABD which shows wake locks, so far I've seen many wake locks from *alarm* but the maximum wake time I get in 24 hours is roughly 6 minutes which I assume is normal,
I keep my screen on lower resolution too and I guess that's helping big time (I only use full HD if I'm watching a film)
I've also disabled background data for every single app and I've set App lamuch all to manual and the only app I let run in the background is WhatsApp, I believe this will improve battery life by loads

LOL. Happy to hear that 90hz wouldn't hit my battery hard. I'll play with the AOD settings, although it's something I'm really looking forward to moving from my old device. I've turned to a lower resolution too, and I couldn't notice the change. All apps in app launch have set to manual and no background except email and one chat app. This is the bottom line for me. LOL.
Keep awake time is ~7m with frequent screen on/off during my 1d regular use, which I'm generally happy with. I'm planning to take a quick look at the wakelock during a short standby, but alarm didn't rank high (after hibernation, syncloopwakelock and eventloop). (BTW, I really hate it that they disable unlocking bootloader, otherwise we can easily tweak those services.)

AOD is not good imo, in the long run it will cause screen burn (very common with AOD).
Take a look at my screen shots, have your app launch set up like mine.
Keep awake time seems normal, I get roughly 6mins so no issues there
Can you send me a screenshot with your full battery usage? Along with every app which has consumed battery?
Look at my 2 screen shots. Have your app launch set up exactly that. The 3 options need to be disabled along with Manual setting on.
Second screenshot you see has background and roaming data OFF for every single App except Gsam & WhatsApp ?
PS use a dark theme too

I understand that AOD could burn the screen in the long run, but the bright side is it frequently shifts the bright pixels and is automatically switched off in pocket/face down.
Yeah, I have almost identical settings as yours since yesterday. I'll give it a shot, and upload the results. Thanks again, mate.:good:

Sorry to bother you again. I did a quick test using gsam battery monitor. It's not a full cycle, but representative of my daily use. I did not see a huge impact by low resolution probably because the automatic resolution takes care of it in part of the scenarios. Since the Google play services takes the most of the battery, and the other apps have been pretty much limited, I have no clue of how to damp the wakelocks and improve the battery life further. crying:

No it won't. The AOD image is automatically repositioned on the screen over time so it doesn't cause burn-in.

Hey, I'm not sure why your Google play services battery drain is so high ? if you scroll all the way to the right you'll be able to see what app is causing the drain. The only part I could see was com.Android on your last screenshot.
Best thing to do is find the wake lock names and use adb to ignore the wake locks,

I believe I cleared the cache for google play services and framework, and please note that don't mess up with the data of framework.
So far my device is running very smoothly, and the majority of alarms come from android heartbeat, and a few from GCM-related intents, so I'm happy with it. I'll have a full battery cycle run and see if I have any improvement. :highfive:

One thing that I forgot to do, which may explain why I had some surprisingly high usage of google play services, is to turn off the auto-updates in google play store, although I don't think it has a big impact on the battery. Overall, the battery life (see attachment) looks good to me given my settings and everyday use.
It's kinda surprising to me that the bloatware from Huawei kept silent whereas google services rang a lot of doorbells. Don't know why, but I figure google has reached its hands to too many hidden areas in my device whereas Huawei is still learning from his big brother. Just kidding:laugh:.
