No os on phone - Nexus 6 General

That is the message I get in TWRP when I try to reboot. Pretty sure it was Format Data I selected in order to change encryption. I made multiple backups prior to performing the format option. Restore has nothing. I hope there is a solution. Downloading a ROM now on computer right now . Ill keep my phone in recovery and plugged in. I tried to put off posting . Thanks for any help. Instructions here are great I tried taking time and read a ton before taking the plunge. Phone is a Nexus 6 got through everything up to picking a ROM. I probably should have gone to that thread just thought a few more folks would see it here. Watching newbs mess up.

Have you tried returning it back to stock? Flashing the factory image to of the original OS. And yea, read and pay attention because you don't wanna have a paper weight

That explains a lot. Wrong device. Are you the Nexus 6(aka Shamu) or are you using the Pixel xl(aka Marlin). The link to the factory image tells you the code names for the device. I provided a screen shot of the factory image page that shows you the Nexus 6 images. Last imag will be 7.1.1

For abd you can get it if you download android studio. Would also suggest a toolkit but in a way I'd suggest you try to do it without the toolkit. And factory image you can use any or use the latest
You can use lineage but do the rooting process from scratch. Go stock and root from there.

It was it for sure put the lineage in the file and it appeared in the twrp file. ill probably still go back to stock or atleast have it on hand for my next blunder. Thanks for the help ! stay alert I'll be back im sure,

Just to point out that it's no longer necessary to download the whole of Android Studio just to get ADB and Fastboot. See here for details. Then, do what I do and use the binaries to update the install of Minimal ADB and Fastboot (mentioned at the link).

OP are you sorted? Hope so.
I like happy results for XDA members.

It took me a couple trys and reboot. Put lineage 16 ,latest twrp, and gapps 9. That's what works for me. I used adb and fast boot to sideload.

[Q] Please help with bricked phone

I've spent quite a while tonight FINALLY getting this MyTouch 4g (Glacier) to root and now I'm stuck in a bind.
Everything seemed to be going well and I got the Cyanogenmod 7 flashed onto the phone via Clockwork ROM Manager. Then the first time I rebooted it got to the Android logo with the spinning arrow and went into a constant loop. After about 20 minutes of this I pulled the battery and tried to restore the phone via the recovery image I created with clockwork. Here is the current status of the phone:
1. CAN get into HBOOT and HBOOT USB (but I dont think ADB can see it, or at least I haven't been able to get it to)
2. CANNOT get into recovery, phone just reboots itself to the red exclamation
3. PD15IMG.zip tries to restore the phone but fails.
What can I do to get the phone back into some sort of usable condition. I dont care where, I can start over as long as I have something to work with.

It failed to unzip the update. Try redownloading the pd15img. This time verify the MD5SUM and try it again.
ALrighty.....this is my st00pid face. I guess in my lack of sleep last night I forgot to check the MD5SUM.
That worked....now let's see if I can break it again!!

Cool Glad it worked for you.
New question, essentially the same topic:
This whole thing started because I tried to flash CyanogenMod 7 onto the phone and it messed up. The phone reboots into Cyanogen and the little android on the skateboard with the arrow just goes into a repeating cycle. It will come on for 10ish seconds at a time and then just cycle back and do the same thing. I've let it go for >20 minutes and nothing changes.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this ROM working? It took me so long to get it rooted with S-off that I'll be darned if I'm stopping now!
Thanks in advance!

Verify the MD5SUM of the ROM as well. You may of gotten a bad download.
What i personally do when i download and install a new OS is
Download OS to computer
push the OS to the SD card
verify the MD5SUM
reboot into recovery
nandroid backup
factory reset
flash new OS
flash g/apps (if needed)
reboot system
to check the MD5SUM while it's on the SDcard just use the line command from either the terminal emulator or CMD prompt.
Code:
# md5sum /mnt/sdcard/<file_name>.extension

You can also check the md5 sum when its on the SDcard using the free mand5 app from the market.

Thanks to everyone for helping out, I finally got it working last night when I had time to sit back down with it.
I was trying to use the ROM Manager version of the Cyanogen instructions and it ended up that that was the problem. I switched over to the recovery version based on your suggestions and it worked great.
Thanks again!
General feeling around here is that the only thing ROM Manager is good for is flashing ClockworkMod recovery. There are folks who won't even do that with it.

Yes it would appear you have a developer Rom and I doubt it would be useful to anyone. Basically you have two options:
1) Send it back to Google for a replacement. (Could end up waiting a number of weeks)
2) Flash the Factory Image for the Nexus 10 which can be found at:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantaray
This will load the final release of JB which should be already on your device and you could be up and running in 15 mins.

if you flash the factory image you will then be the same as everyone else, no restrictions whatsoever.
Follow this guide:
http://androidtobe.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/galaxy-nexus-installing-ics-402-from.html
That is for the Galaxy Nexus however the same commands still apply. Just ensure you download the correct Factory Image and change the file name where appropriate.

what is the normal way to get back to org. Image when "normal Nexus 10" devices are out of order ?

The normal way is to restore the device using the correct nexus factory image for your device then executing the flash all script included with the factory image. This script will flash all the necessary partitions for you and reset your device to factory stock. This method doesn't require unlocking the bootloader and doesn't require root.

So - can you give us the link to the "right" image - and write 2-3 lines how to flash ? Volume up/down Power to stock recovery etc. Copy image to where ... etc ... this would be wonderful ... thank you so much ...
Nexus 10 Factory Image:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantarayjop40c
You also need to set up the Android SDK, especially adb and fastboot.
Reboot to bootloader:
adb reboot-bootloader
When in fastboot mode, you can start flashing the factory images.
flash-all.bat does all the work for you.
But make sure, adb AND fastboot is working inside CMD!
Thank you very much ... we will give it a try ... even if i don't know how many user get a developer version of the Nexus 10 ... this order was normaly done ... and we were some kind of surprised when the tab was started ...8)
Oh Google .. something went realy wrong this time ... 8)

[CWM] [TWRP] Easy Recovery install for Find 5

I first want to note that none of this is my work, I'm simply sharing with the community with the permission from the creator of this tool. All credit goes to kamma for his port of TWRP here and Derek from the OPPO forums for bringing CWM, and of coarse JonaBustos for making this great tool for us to use!
Easy Recovery install for Find 5!
Prerequisites:
- Computer
- Drivers for Find 5 installed
- That's it!
I, nor any of the parties whose work you decide to use are not responsible for anything you do to your phone ...ENJOY!
**This is simply a copy and paste of the original post over on the OPPO forums HERE
Friends OPPO community
I made a modification of some files and take the work of other users as Derek and Kamma, and make a easy installation of TWRP Recovey and CWM Recovery.
HOW TO:
- You only need to have installed the drivers from our OPPO FIND 5.
If you dont know how, can see this article How to install drivers for any Android. (I use this for all devices)
- Download the attachment and unzip wherever you want on your PC.

Ok, it looks like the issue is with boot.img it appears to reflash the stock recovery on reboot. Its been talked about in the oppoforums and there seems to be an easy fix using adb shell
Use adb shell to disable it, but you need to have root. Here are command lines :
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cd /system/etc
mv install-recovery.sh install-recovery.sh.old
exit
exit
adb reboot
Recovery should now stick.

Waiting for any device in ADB and Fastboot

After getting fed up with issues from Nougat, I am trying to get back to Marshmallow. But when trying to execute commands on ADB or Fastboot, it ends up with a message saying "Waiting for any device". Android Studio and my PC find my phone, but these methods don't. I'm new to this, so is there anything that I'm doing wrong?

First, I used flashing unlock, which yielded that message, but realizing it was a stock ROM I was flashing, I tried flash-all, which gave me the same message.

This should provide your serial number. Does it do that? I do not need to know the numbers. If your serial number is not displayed, you need to update the fastboot driver for the computer.

Doing that with ADB yesterday only repeated the ADB command list. The guide I was trying to follow is here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

Ok. Have you updated your fastboot and/or platform tools? The command list usually displays for outdated tools.

I have.
By the way, even the phone says at the bottom: "Please connect USB data cable."

So every driver is updated. Could you write out or screenshot exactly what you are seeing when entering fastboot commands?

I'm not at my computer currently, but when I try to unlock the bootloader or open flash-all.bat, it just returns <waiting for any device>

Yea. I want to see the commands you wrote as well as the output. When you get a chance, please share that. This helps for troubleshooting since I may be overlooking something. Is USB Debugging enabled when you are booted in Android?
While in the bootloader and connected to the computer, find the Google driver that's supposed to be installed and see if there is a warning or exclamation mark indicating an error.

This is what happens when I try to unlock the bootloader.
Yes, USB Debugging is on, and has been for a while.
I looked for some type of Google driver, and found results. There was a driver named "Android", and I tried to update the drivers from online. No results. I then searched my PC where I remember downloading the Google USB driver. It found it, and installed successfully. I have a feeling that was the one, since it was called "Android Bootloader Interface". I will try these commands again soon and report back.

If you are still having issue, delete all drivers relating to your Nexus or Google via windows manager and use this video to reinstall the drivers.
After installing your drivers properly, use this link to watch one of many videos in order to flash a new version of Nougat or MM. The guy is really good and his videos are easy to follow. I use his instructions and links to do everything.. Good luck!!
The link below is what I used, step by step, to install Nougat easily and flawlessly.

This is really dumb but had me stumped for a while. Sometimes you just have to unplug and plug it back in while in bootloader.
Luckily, that driver was the one. I successfully unlocked the bootloader, and then flashed the ROM. There are no apparent problems right now.

Amazing work! EVERY ONE OF US NEEDS TO LEARN command line, but it's always excellent to see amazing devs make an all in one like this for the guys that refuse to learn the hard (right) way, and for vets that aren't quite smart enough to make a tool like this themselves, like me, but appreciate the **** out of this little gem making my first custom Oreo ROM from stock rooted a breeze! Perhaps a little bold, but im still calling it, OG PIXEL XL NOT DEAD just when I was losing faith! Bravo!
PS:. Donation incoming once my current "being a broke ass" sit-e-ation ends here in a few weeks.

Just peeped them briefly,. Mad props!
Damn dude, this is amazing. Will definitely give it a shot in the next few days!
Question about the install/uninstall apks feature: how does this work? Is it batch or one at a time?
EDIT: Also, to flash TWRP, do I need to be in bootloader mode and do I need to disable security on my phone before flashing? Will I lose root when flashing it? I'm using the latest Magisk.

Thank. I've been using the Unified Android Toolkit from Skipsoft for a while now, but a lot of functions are blocked. I'll give this a go.

You can't retain root after flashing a factory image. You can root the oreo factory image after you have flashed it
I take it this is for windows only?
Thanks
Thanks for this toolkit
My phone was loop in no command screen . And you save me
I have questions about this toolkit
- can I use it to flash any custom rom or just original image
- can I root my phone with toolkit
- there is another virgin of toolkit can be use in a pixel book
Best wishes,

You can't directly flash a custom rom with this tool, you need a TWRP already flashed on your phone and you can use "Recovery Zip Flasher" ( I do not recommend it ), i think is better to put the rom on your phone and flash it from your phone.
This tool can't root directly your phone, but gives all you need to root it (Bootloader Unlock and the flash of a TWRP).
Pixel book? This tool is only available for Windows, maybe you can use it on pixelbook with a virtual machine, but i don't know how pixel book works
With the new update a i make a new recovery flasher option for devices with project treble. Test it and told me if it works
