Apparently there will be an update to camera, both in terms of performance and functionality, it should be available to download at 28th May, which should be just before it gets released in most places.

At least according to Asus Sweden
According to pocket-link, this phone can shoot multiple frame resulting in 109 megapixel photos. I haven't read from other sites before.
https://www.pocket-lint.com/phones/reviews/asus/147785-asus-zenfone-6-review-flip-camera
Does the Phone support raw shooting? If so from the 48MP camera and/or the 13PM wide?
All of this but no mention of the zoom capabilities.
Obviously optical zoom would have been mentioned, but I'm wondering how the digital zoom is before the image starts breaking up.

There is a good comparison here including zoom
Really holds up well
Im holding off at present, some of the pics look way to soft, and way to much colour saturation.
Don't expect huge improvements from what they've delivered in the past. They do have some new tech to play with to improve night shots thanks to the 48MP sensor (although missing OIS). And some will prefer the superior front cam capabilities for sure.
New update, also enables EIS on 4k 60 fps filming, from this video:

colours are still way off :/

The best front cam that they've tested, not surprisingly. Not an astounding result considering it's using its rear camera. Hopefully software changes and/or Gcam can help improve it further.
Curious to see how it scores in the Rear cam test.

DXoMark does smartphones as 'selfie' (front) and 'mobile' (rear) with separate reviews. I imagine the criteria is different so they can't use one score for both still. If you look at any rear cam review the photos are a mix of people and objects, while the front cam reviews are practically entirely people based (hence 'selfie' score). It won't necessarily get the same score as a rear cam as it does a selfie cam since there is different criteria to keep even testing.

Dxomark only produces selfie score just because Asus want to show off their top score on-stage at Computex 2019
My guess is the rear camera software is still got lots more room for improvements, XDA posted today that there are major firmware upgrades for camera quality improvements
https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-6-update-super-night-mode-hdr/
Image quality, colors and skintone looks good to my eyes in this sample https://www.eprice.com.tw/mobile/talk/4543/5333582/1/rv/asus-zenfone-6-zs630kl-6gb_128gb-review/ and even in DXOmark selfie review, the skin tone and colors are very similar to Pixel 3 which is very good for Asus smartphone
I can't wait for this phone to launch in my country

Day light photo quality is comparable to Pixel 3, S10+, iPhone XS, P30 Pro
but the night mode on P30 Pro beats anything in the market coz physics...not even samsung google apple can compete with the better and larger main sensor in P30 Pro...u may want to install gcam for night sight to get better night photo on zenfone 6

I've rated selfie cam average coz it's a mixed bag
In artificial lighting conditions it produces somewhat blurry images. In fact selfies in complete darkness with the screen flash look better than selfies in artificial lights such as tubelights, bulbs etc. Bokeh selfies are better with more details as compared to normal selfies.
I'm talking about selfies with 0 beautification.
I must admit that I'm coming from nexus 5 which has 1.2 mp front camera so maybe I was expecting a bit too much from the 20 mp cam of Poco f1!
Come to think of it, various hardware checking apps show front camera as 5 mp!
May be they are detecting secondary camera at the back as front camera...anyone knows any app that detects all 3 cameras (megapixel and sensor used) correctly??!
It is correct with 5mp. The Cam combines four Pixels top one Superpixel.
I thought it's detecting 5 mp is secondary back camera and mistaking it for front cam

So you mean the front camera is actually a 5 mp cam and it should be denoted as such in hardware info apps such as CPU X? This explains why the selfie quality wasn't much much better as I had expected. I'm not that impressed with this 4 pixel combining to form a Superpixel technology....at least in poor lighting conditions.
It would also mean that the secondary 5 mp camera at the back isn't mentioned in the information generated by such apps!
Shouldn't it be mentioned?
I hope I'm clear on this point.
Noticed nowadays new camera unable to capture sharp pic for grp selfie
Grp selfie is where u at front n few members at the back to ensure everyone fit it in the picture
But what happen is only ur pic is sharp while the rest quite blur
This not happened during single lens with fix focus like s7 or 2016 model
How to fix this ?
I must admit that the selfies come out blurry when taken indoors especially when taken with volume rocker. It shakes up due to the press of the button. Do you guys face that?

I see the phone uses a 20MP sensor from Samsung.
This not a real 20MP camera...I mean, it can't be! Or it's very, VERY bad, even in natural light conditions.
The quality of selfies is way inferior to the 12MP sensor of the back camera.
The amount of details captured by it makes it look more like a 5-8MP sensor...

You guys are completely crazy or have fault devices. The frontal camera is absolutely amazing. My girlfriend have a XS and its there's no comparison, F1 is much better in every way. You just need to turn off Beautiful Mode and increase sharpness on Options to make things more clear. It's one of the best selfie cameras that I ever see in my life. Get out of here you guys.
But there's a issue that Xiaomi need to fix. The camera dont focus acurately subjects at 1 meter from device. If you use Selfie Group Mode, the problem is gone.
The issue is with focus which is fixed at a distance of around 50cm. Beyond that, objects get blurred.

No, you have to slide between zoom button to switch between cameras, sliding right to 0.6x will take you to the wide angle camera

Or you can pinch in to get to wide angle.

you bought the wrong phone for photography, it's because of mediatek sensor processing, it can't par with 2019 best lenses
and with that sensor, even video recording I've seen on rn8 pro, it's a bit better than my.. 2015 redmi note 2, only a bit better..
you could try gcam, but it will never work 100%

No problem Sir.
Find X2 Pro's selfie photos are decent, I'd say average. HDR is present and works well, although in front portrait mode it might overbrighten the image.
Oneplus 8 Pro has it stabilized which makes for much better vlogging experience. On the other hand, Oppo has a night mode for the front camera which drastically improves low light performance.
Personally I'm glad Oppo scrimped on the front camera quality as I almost never use it and a better camera would only increase the price.
It gets a pass. Certainly not as good as the pixel or iPhone. Seems to beautify too much.
I'd agree, the weakest part of the phone - HDR not that good, photos come out soft and stabilization isn't great. Not as good as the OnePlus 8 pro although that's not perfect either, very sharp but makes everyone look red and too warm.

Coming from iPhone 11 Pro, i totally agree with you. The selfie mode is way over exposed most of the time and in case you have light coming right in the camera the picture is very bad. The iPhone does it way better.
In definition, when conditions are good (no direct light source in the lens) this sensor is way better than the iPhone's one.
Is selfie camera there better that in the latest iPhone?

I do have to add, that I tested the fine detail of the 48MP Redmi note 9S vs the LG G6 16MP camera, static shot, side to side and guess what, at the same image width, the LG is sharper and has more detail
48 super mega random pixels LOL
/\ Megapixels was never a comparison thing.. You have to dig into pixel density of the sensor, not quantity of Megapixels.. that's noob.... I'm on iPhone 8 Plus right now and it have only 12MP and is SUPERB.. But I'm planning to buy a cheaper phone.. I would add that Redmi note 9 Pro has 64MP sensor I guess.. It's a little bit better.. the photo is larger and so it can accomodate more pixel density.. I don't know if my iPhone 8 Plus is better or not regarding camera but I won't afford another one if anyone steal it from me.

i just bought the RN9PRO global, i took this picture in 64MP this morning, what do you think of the quality ?
Quad Bayer 48MP means only 12MP after pixel binning. I do not see how choosing one from every four small pixels is better than simply having regular sized pixels without binning (other than being able to market it as a 48MP camera). The photo quality is not crap. It has less noise than my older phones. But that is all I can say about it.
Here is a sample image. It is a set of three images of the same scenary side-by-side. Among the first two (left and centre), one is taken in 48MP mode, the other is taken in default mode. I will not tell which one is taken in 48MP mode. See if you can figure it out. (Hint: You can not, because there is no difference). The last one (rightmost one) is HDR.
https://imgur.com/d66cSqS.jpg
Notice how the HDR mode preserves a lot more details in the darker areas, but everything in the brighter areas get a ton of halo around themselves. The halo is present in non-HDR image too, but its effect is much less.
Overall, this camera is nothing special.
Camera on curtana sucks! I don't like it at all. My old oneplus phone can even do better shots than it.

Honestly, I didn't like it.. It's blurred(not focused) on the center of image.. look likes there's a huge circle unfocused on center..
I guess I will go for S10 Lite or S10+
Well, I have noticed that you can zoom-in deeper with the gallery app on pics taken with 48MP mode.
But the differences on quality compared to pixel binning pics is really small, on the screen of the phone almost not noticeable.
Cam is okay for quick shots, I guess.
But what I'm missing for example are details when zooming into a taken pic. When zooming in, pics becoming blurry fast, will say things that are more in the background are not really as sharp as I wish they would be.
Have also tested different versions of GCam, but returned to the stock cam app. It gives me the "best" results and works most stable.

I'm on MIUI 12, so far I'm not that impressed.
I already understood that gcam is going to be mandatory here.
There is a white hue on many photos. It mostly overexpose photos. If you are trying to focus on a dark object, the photo will be extremely overexposed. This did not happen with my 2017 LG V30.
There is no real feedback for a good focus. Tap to focus, but nothing really tells you it's locked.
The location of the wide angle lens is impossible not to touch if you're holding the phone with you left hand.
I only have it for 1 day , I'll have to test it longer.
Still searching for the perfect gcam version.
Pure Image quality: Noise reduction algorithm can be weird sometimes. Photos tend to be overexposed. Lack contrast.
if you're interested in whole range gcam results, I uploaded full size samples here:

New version of VCX forum out today.
https://vcx-forum.org/score/version-2020
Mi 10 Pro general good score except for performance(AF/timing). 1 point!!!
Yeah but those results are all using the built in app and who actually uses the built in rubbish ?
Would be good to see camera reviews with Gcam installed but no reviewer seems to be aware of Gcam ports, I think they all live under rocks.
I don't underestimate VCX forum. I think they know about Gcam. However, in their measurement and comparison they use stock cam apps and I think that is reasonable.
If the Xiaomi stock app is that bad, then Xiaomi must do something about it, their own product.
That said, the score for Mi 10 Pro in image quality is actually good.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Photo Quality
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro on the rear packs a 108-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.69 aperture and a pixel size of 1.6-micron; a second 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0-micron; a third 12-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 1.4-micron and a fourth 20-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 20-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.

There is only noise when you zoom in very far, the pics are great with gcam with all three cameras, the 8mp 3.7 zoom lens gives surprisingly good results too, I dont use the built in camera app, I never do, gcam is best, plenty of reviews around with pics. Cant upload examples cos theyre too large.
