Installing Apps from saved apks - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have a OnePlus 6T that I frequently reset thanks to different apps I keep experimenting with. I realised that everytime I reset the phone, I have to download about 900 MB of apps from the Google Play Store - the usual Google apps updates. I also figured out that Solid Explorer allows one to save the installed apps as .apk files for offline installation. But whenever I install these 'saved' .apk files, the apps crash. Not so when I install from the Play Store. The biggest culprits are Google Photos and Google Duo. This crashing is a recent phenomena. I've done this many times in the past successfully. I had no problems before.
Would anybody be able to throw some light on this? Has something changed at Google's end?
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Why don't you just do a full back up in TWRP then save it to an external?

[Q] Blank Play Store

Hi all, First of all I have CM10.1 20130210 on my phone. (Had 20130208 when I noticed the problem, But I dont think thats the cause)
I normally check for CM updates & Play Store every night. Yesterday I wanted to check the Play Store but when I opened it it took me straight to the Categories page (It normally takes me to some "General Featured" page).
When I go into any of the categories it takes me to more categories into that one (Games>Racing/Action/Puzzle/etc) it didnt do that before.
After I go into one of those its just a grey screen, The store is blank.
I tried going into My Apps & Its blank. If I go into the All tab though they all show, Clicking on one of those apps does take me to its page & If I try to download a previously uninstalled app it does download and work properly.
Something very weird: The same thing happens in the Webstore, No app shows when going into Editor's Choice & When manually going into the categories its just blank. Going into app pages via my own apps do work.
Ive tried clearing the data of the Play Store (Settings>Apps>All>Google Play Store>Clear Data)
Ive tried reflashing my phone (Thats why I went from 20130208 to 20130210)
Ive tried Force Stopping, Clearing data & Rebooting
Ive tried unsyncing & Resyncing my Google Account
Ive tried uninstalling & Reinstalling Gapps (goo.im/gapps)
Any ideas on how I can fix this? I ran out of ideas myself...
Some screens of what happens, the one with the categories is what the store opens to, the other one is what happens if i go anywhere else.
Ive been trying to fix this all day & Most things Ive found seem to be fixed by wiping the cache or returning the DPI to its default state.
Thing is, I already tried option 1 & I never changed the DPI on my phone. (I dont even know how to do it)
Just tried changing the DPI & Nothing...
I installed Best Apps Market on my phone (Had to google it & Make it directly lead me to the Play Store page coz the Play Store doesnt work)
Basically you can browse apps through there & When you want to dowmload it takes you to the Play Store (Native app) page.
It did work & Display apps properly but they all said that they werent available in my country. I tried a VPN on my PC & Bam, Play Store works.
That seems to be the problem, Somehow my country got messed up but I cant seem to change it. I did manage to change it on Google Account>Settings>Email Edit>Country but that did nothing. Any help?
Did you get any help on this? did you resolve this problem ? i have the save the same problem. did the same things you did, but no solution

Nope, But I am 100% sure that it has to do with country settings.
I tried 1 last thing today: Completely wiping EVERYTHING off my phone & Reinstalling everything. Nothing.
I also noticed a few "Market Unlocker/Enabler stopped working!" threads these past 3 days, So basically Google did something.
I contacted support & This is an email I got yesterday:
Thanks for this valuable information. We really appreciate it, and it's because of people like you that we can improve the Google Play experience for all users.
We are currently aware of this problem with Android apps on Google Play and are trying to resolve it. This complex issue involves several areas of the Google Play Store app and is not an easy fix, so I don’t have a good estimate on how long it will take us to resolve it. As soon as I have any updates, I’ll be the first to let you know.
I really appreciate you taking the time to let us know about the details of your specific case; each time we hear more details, it helps us make a better solution. I hope that despite this, you will keep using the Google Play Store app and keep sending us valuable feedback when things don’t go as expected.
I’ll be sure to update you as soon as I have more information about this issue, but in the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. I’ll be in touch!

So yeah, Nothing you or I can do about it.
What Imma do next is install a 3rd party app market that doesnt use the Play Store at all (Anybody got any recommendations?)
I have the same issue, when i first start play store it opens categories and then blank page...
the only way i can download apps from play store is from my pc.
I tried all of the above "tips" but got no solution.

Uhmm, That seems more like a phone related problem than anything else. You sure you tried all the things possible? (Even completely reinstalling everything?)

[Q] Restore bundled apps?

So naturally one of the first things I did with my new G2 was to root it, since I have a few favorite apps that require root.
Then I did something stupid: I told Titanium Backup to "Integrate updates of system apps into ROM" - hey, it always worked great with my DesireHD running JellyTime. Well, didn't work so well in this case, leading to many of the "bundled" apps simply disappearing, and others (particularly Google apps) crashing.
Most of the Google apps I fixed by simply uninstalling them using TiBkup, then reinstalling from Play... but one it particular I really liked, that I can't find anywhere else, was the bundled "Photo Album" app - like Gallery, but better. Still trying to figure out a way to get this back, short of re-flashing the stock ROM.
I tried doing a full backup of ALL apps in TiBkup, then uninstalling the Photo Album from there (which SAID it worked), then restoring it from backup... but no go. And of course, this isn't an app that's available in Play.
Any other suggestion (other than re-flashing) to get this and others back to where they were? Is there a list of all the bundled apps that came with this phone?
What about reflashing gapps?
GApps isn't really the problem - SOME of the Google apps had issues, but those I could uninstall and then reinstall from the Play Store. It's the Photo Albums app that I'd really like back, and it doesn't appear to be on the Play Store at all. What I need is another G2 that I can export an .apk of the missing apps (or at least of the ones I liked)...

Here is a link the LG apps themselves from the G2. You can download, unzip and install the apks you want.

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for... unfortunately install fails on any of them I tried. Tried launching the APKs from both Root Browser and ES Browser, same thing. "Unknown sources" is checked...
Is there a log somewhere that might show me what's going on?
I guess worst case, I have to back everything up and re-flash the stock rom...
Are you running the stock rom or another rom?
Stock - only got the thing a couple weeks ago. I probably wouldn't really worry about it, but there were a couple of the bundled apps I really liked that I want to get back.
And honestly, I've looked at a couple of the other ROMs listed here and considered it, but unlike the bloated nonSense on my old HTC, I really like a lot of the stock LG functionality... and of course, I'm worried that some of the stock apps I like might not work on a custom ROM.

Questions about removing Google apps

I'm planning to root my Huawei P8 Lite and remove all Google apps. I have some questions about this.
Since I will be using the stock ROM which was designed to be used with Google apps, what are the implications of removing them?
For example, there are some entries in settings that concern Google apps (keyboard, location, search, etc.). What will happen to those after I remove all Google apps?
I have never used stock ROM without Google apps so far, only CyanogenMod without Google apps on my old phone.
Also, what would be the best way to remove Google apps? I have have one way (olivier-m on GitHubGist, can't post a link), but it seems that this list is for ICS and JB. Is that list valid for Lollipop?
Thanks for help.
You need to root and get a root unistaller.

Yes, but how will that affect functionality of the phone?

Obviously you will have to find a way to get your apps and updates. Further you should ensure that you have a different keyboard than the google one activated prior to deletion as well as a browser besides chrome etc.
Also make sure to always do a full backup before trying stuff like this. If it shouldn't work you can still ask us for further advice and reflash your backup.

I already have all the alternative apps ready, I've been using F-Droid on my old phone for the last 2 years so that part is taken care of.
Thanks for the tip about the keyboard, I didn't know that. And of course, I will do a backup before trying anything.

It'd be cool if you could keep us up to date on your experiences, since I'm personally interested in this matter.
Nothing bad would happen. I personally keep only Play Store and Google Play Services. I don't need other Google crap such as News Stand, Play Books, Play Music, Gmail, Drive, Youtube and especially Play Movies, Hangouts and Photos. I keep Play Store to buy apps basically and Play Services for in game achievements

I will. My plan is to backup, root, uninstall Gapps and replace them with F-Droid + open source alternatives. I'm very busy though so it might take few days, just so you know.
Update: I gave up from removing Gapps for time being because I wasn't able to successfully root my phone. I will probably wait until the end of the year until there are more options available (rooting and ROMs). Until then, I disabled Gapps and I'm using alternatives from F-Droid.

I hope you're right. Of course, I'll make a backup just in case.
I have finally rooted my P8lite and went on a quest of removing Google apps and other bloatware. I removed every app with Google in its name and soft bricked my phone. Luckily I managed to restore it and now I'm trying again, more carefully.
I will consult these lists:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487073
http://blog.burrowsapps.com/2014/03/what-android-apps-are-safe-to-remove.html
http://androidforums.com/threads/bo...-de-bloat-your-boost-mobile-galaxy-s3.778877/
However, I would like input from someone knowledgeable on this subject because these lists are either not completely up-to-date not specifically for Huawei.

I rooted my phone and removed a lot of (system) apps and bloatware. I didn't make a list of all the apps I removed, but I can advice you to install Link2SD app and use the "Freeze" function for apps that you're unsure if they can be deleted. If you freeze the app and there's no strange behavior, it's probably safe to remove...
Hi Please help me, my google play store does not want to download anything, i tried factory restart and clearing the cache and clearing the data, but still not luck.
TIA

Stock ROM without Google?

Hi,
I'm looking for a stock ROM without any Google apps or services.
I want to test the phone without Google and see if it is usable.
Is there a script I can use to remove all Google files from the phone?
Thanks

Are you aware of it? You can't use the same apps with the same behavior as before. It's not a big deal. messenger apps for example uses google play services for instant messaging. Many other apps are unreliable without play services.
But you need to root your stock rom and can freeze Google play services(only this one is enough for first testing). It's the main service/app that's needed for every other Google service/app/connection.

I am fully aware of the repercussions. I want to dive in and delete the files, not just freeze them.
I've used the terminal debloater as suggested by @rajatgupta1998 but it doesn't offer the option to delete lib, jar, xml and other files.
At least i don't get the black screen after deleting, which is better than all scripts i flashed so far.
You could try NanoDroid, but make a backup before.

vielen Dank,
But i'm not actually looking install microG or any other form of GApps.
I just want to delete the ones that come with the stock ROM to have a Google-free stock ROM.
It seems certain files (like Google Services Framework) cause the phone to be stuck at black screen during boot.

As I wrote before, you can do the following on stock rom: just freeze/delete Google play services app and you cut every Google communications. You can't execute play store, YouTube, drive, accounts or whatever Google app. You'll see no Google play services wakelock anymore. If framework files are there after that doesn't matter.

Testing now.
@strongst It's actually kinda like having the best of both worlds. It turns out some apps that required the maps API still works, including Maps (from Google).
The added bonus is that is can switch play services on at will.
I just deleted Google apps that i don't use.
Phone has been working without any issues at all. I have very few apps (whatsapp, automateIt, etc). i use xperia keyboard, FOSS apps like new pipe (for youtube), Dnotes (for keep), yalp store (for playe store).
Battery life and SOT have almost doubled.

Did you tried to reconnect your Google account?
Ive removed it turn off and on the device and logged in again
Similar thing happened to me today. I uninstalled Google Play Store updates in the app manager to get my list of installed apps to show again. Then I had to reboot my phone once to keep any detached apps from accidentally updating in the Play Store (YouTube). After finally updating Play Store, I haven't had any issues so far.
