How to use Proximity Sensor to Wake and Sleep? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

What apps would anyone recommend to allow the proximity sensor to wake and sleep the V20? Anyone use one regularly? What app and what settings in the app?
Thanks!

I've found this one to be pretty good and up to date:

I enjoyed the pocket unlock feature.

I've used this in the past (not on my V20).

Blackberry style sleep-in-pouch, possible?

Is there anything out there to mimic the Blackberry feature of locking the device and switching off the screen when the phone is put in the pouch?
Anyone? It would seem like a feature which should be standard given the way the proximity sensor is used in-calls...
as far as I know the blackberry use's magnets for the lock / sleep. I can see problems if you use the proximity/light sensor, as if you are using in a car at night for example it would conitnuely lock
Pocketshield can unlock with light. ie take it out ya pocket and it comes on. Was talk of adding proximity sensor support soon in addition.

[Q] Can the proximity sensor be used to turn off wifi

I was using the smart cover for my Google Nexus 10 for sometime and wondering if the feature can turn off my screen, are there available applications which allow me to program me to do other things like turn off wifi after sometime if cover is closed to conserve battery and back on when the cover if opened. Thanks to anyone with suggestions
That's fairly advanced programming, you'll probably need a custom ROM to be able to do that have a search around on some of the ROM threads and ask the developers if they could help you out

I'm pretty sure you can use Tasker for that.
Edit: Never mind, it looks like proximity sensor is not supported yet by Tasker on the Nexus 10.
I would imagine it should be fairly easy to write a program that can do this. I know that I use an emulator for Game Boy Advance that has options to use the proximity sensor for controls (havent used it though), so if something like that is able to read data from the sensor then anyone should be able to. And that app doesnt even require root. I would think though that to put the tablet to sleep would require root access to the command. The one thing I dont know about would be waking the tablet up. I would imagine that the proximity sensor would be disabled when the tablet is in deep sleep, so it may not be able to be used to wake up the tablet. And using an app to always keep the sensor awake may prevent the tablet from ever going into deep sleep.
I think the Nexus 10 does NOT have a proximity sensor...

Hmmm, looks like you're right. I downloaded sensor readout app from the play store and it's not registering a proximity sensor.

I think the smart cover used the magnetic field for the wake and sleep function instead of the proximity sensor. It was my mistake in assuming it was a proximity sensor.
So I'm guessing you just need an app to turn off WiFi when the device is put to sleep? Try this, it worked wonders for me:

you can simply set the wifi sleep policy to "Always" which will turn off your wifi when you turn off the screen

Can anyone confirm that? Because on Google I get lots of hits with the specs for the Nexus 10 including the proximity sensor.
I just want to use Tap Tap App.

Will using smart lock NFC affect how Doze operates?

Currently I have not rooted my 6P so I cannot run the DoubleTap2Wake function using the terminal command. So instead I will be using the smart lock feature to at least prevent from having to use my fingerprint to unlock the device. I am choosing to use an NFC tag under my large mouse pad to act as a the smart lock trigger. I am curious to know if leaving my phone on the NFC tag for an extended period of time will prevent doze from activating. Also how can I look at when doze was on?

Any way to allow the screen to turn on while the proximity sensor covered?

I keep trying to use double tap to wake while the phone is in my inside pocket of my jacket and my thumb gets in the way of the sensor causing it to not turn on.
Any way to disable the proximity sensor for this? I don't use the AOD before you say it's to save battery life.
Thanks!
Tasker
Could you elaborate please? Never actually used tasker before... Thanks

Gesture to wake up gone :(

It is sad to see that gesture to wake up from theS9 was replaced in the S10 by Lift to wake, which is actually kinda useless, well we have double tap to wake, but gesture to wake was way more badass, you felt like a jedi waking up the screen of your phone.
I used to have it enabled too. I guess it's true there is no real proximity sensor anymore ?

Furthermore the option to just call a contact by putting the phone against your ear is now gone too.... I hate when Samsung remove features from their flagships.... How hard is it for them to just use a normal proximity sensor inside or next to the speaker? Major disappointment.
