I have no problems with the galaxy buds but seem to have no bass at all. I have a cheap £20 bluetooth in ear headphones but these have considerably better bass. Any help or advise appropriated

Hi....mby to put bigger rubbers on the earphones and you'll have a lot more bass .... also you can go to Soundassistant where equalizer is located and adjust as desired...
...I personally play music with Poweramp that has an excellent equalizer and sound in general..

Just tried and got some bass hahah. Using spotify cant believe was just the rubber buds. Cheers

I used spotify for my buds and beats studio aswell, but the bass is really poor in spotify, after downloading all my music and switching to PowerAmp it's more like an eargasm! Audio in PowerAmp is just amazing but not like Viper4Android tho.

enable disable absolute volume in developer tools so that volume controls are separate between phone and earbuds.

Biggest issue is that, unless you make an airtight seal with your ear canal, you will not hear much bass. These buds assume you get the bass bump of the occlusion effect. To check if you have such a seal, turn off the audio while the buds are in and walk around. If you can hear thump, thump, thump of each step, you have them properly sealed in your ear. If not, you don't.

Why is your pre amp volume extremely low, i bet you can hardly hear anything?
The best thing to do is start with bass & treble pre set and instead of highering the bass and treble, lower the mid so bass and treble dont go past 0, and turn pre amp up if not loud enough, it helps cut out the noise from the chip. If you can try to keep limit off and adjust till you are without distortion too.

Remember guys, each brand of headphones has its own eq curve, so one setting isn't going to please everybody. A good idea would be to state your music background (audiophile/general listener), your music taste and what set of iem's / headphones you're using.

Yup, it's quite a good EQ setting for short but punchy bass. But I prefer buzzing and lengthy bass, so, to each is own!

What headphones do you use?

So what headphones do you use guys? I was using the nexus s headphones for my note ii but they are broken now.
I tried many high cost ear phones and headphones...
But according to my ears, sinnhheiser Px80 is best as well as in cost too...
its around Rs.2000 INR
I bought from apple store...
Acc. To me buying more costly head phones have not much benefit as their price...
U should check before buying..
I have the px-100ii Sennheisers. Quite similar to the px-80 in that they are also foldable and open cup design. They are also affordable and provide very good sound for the price. I definitely recommend them.

Another px100ii user, am thinking about making a mod to use oem Samsung earphones cable on my Sennheisers, for volume up and down, microphone and call button, the problem is, they are white doesn't match with black headphones, but i have a better idea which is to add a female plug to Samsung remote and use the px100ii with it original cable.
Am good with electronics.

I have those too but only for indoor only, way too big to carry around. For my phone I use in-ear Sennheiser EI80 (adjustable bass). They are the best price/quality earphone on the market. I know not everyone like in-ear earphone, but if you do they re amazing. The only other that can compete with them are the Klipsh S4, but they are not as noise reducing as the EI80.
I'm a real audiophile and I use senheisser SE425 inears. It's quite good. I have to say the stock Samsung headphones are not so bad also. They have decent bass and high frequencies.

Music is really quiet

Got this phone a couple of days ago, moved from the HTC One S with beats audio. I've noticed that top volume (past safe level) on this is equal to around 9/15 on the HTC. Does anybody know any apps that could increase the maximum volume, as I don't want to root quite yet.

You didn't quite get the "not rooting, not unlocking bootloader (or whatever the Samsung equivalent is, I've noticed no HBOOT)" part, did you?
As long as there's a factory image going around for this that puts the phone completely back to stock for warranty purposes, then I'll root now. With my record with phones, this will go wrong the day after I root, without doing anything else to it.
Try jetAudio, you can configure the pre-amp in the equaliser settings, plus the EQ is better than poweramp from my own experience.

Stereo X absolutely raped the bass on my headphones (BOSE MIE2) and made every song sound disgusting, from songs with little bass to songs with lots of bass. Both songs are awesome by the way. Well, now that I've bothered to root (and starting to regret it now that I've heard Triangle Away is useless at the moment) I might as well add beats audio to the phone.
I would get V4A tbh, has tons of customisation and when you get something that suits you its great. Not to mention you can boost the volume with it. FauxSound can also apply gain, I use that too.

Found a way to increase the volume.
Settings - sound and vibration - sound quality and effects - personalize sound. Start personalizing your sound. It will ask you if you can hear the sound, always answer no. The result is it will amp up the volume of all frequencies.

Make sure the possible independent volume on your headphones is turned up. My headphones get way louder than I need them to be. I have multiple different pairs of headphones and they are fine. Also do take care your ears. Don't play music so loud you bust your ear drums. ?

I agree, however after trying a few of the volume booster pro's i was getting spammed with all kinds of other booster pro's.
One was the bass booster pro, which actually did work. Better than the bass boosting capabilities of our stock eq.
