What headphones do you use? - Galaxy Note II General

So what headphones do you use guys? I was using the nexus s headphones for my note ii but they are broken now.

I tried many high cost ear phones and headphones...
But according to my ears, sinnhheiser Px80 is best as well as in cost too...
its around Rs.2000 INR
I bought from apple store...
Acc. To me buying more costly head phones have not much benefit as their price...
U should check before buying..

I have the px-100ii Sennheisers. Quite similar to the px-80 in that they are also foldable and open cup design. They are also affordable and provide very good sound for the price. I definitely recommend them.

Im using apples latest earpods.. good enough for me and stylish tbh xP

Currently using beats solo hd's in navy blue...very good, good bass and clear vocals, previously had sennheiser hd 25's they had crystal clear vocals but not much bass and seen as though most of my music is bass filled i had to opt for the beats solo hd's

sennheiser hd202..........nice ones, good bass........and they are cheap

Klipsch M40s. Very comfortable memory foam especially after they are broke in. Independent 40mm bass driver and 15mm tweeter. Combined with Perseus kernel, I couldn't enjoy my sound quality anymore.

Beats solo hd..amazing sound.

Another px100ii user, am thinking about making a mod to use oem Samsung earphones cable on my Sennheisers, for volume up and down, microphone and call button, the problem is, they are white doesn't match with black headphones, but i have a better idea which is to add a female plug to Samsung remote and use the px100ii with it original cable.
Am good with electronics.

I have those too but only for indoor only, way too big to carry around. For my phone I use in-ear Sennheiser EI80 (adjustable bass). They are the best price/quality earphone on the market. I know not everyone like in-ear earphone, but if you do they re amazing. The only other that can compete with them are the Klipsh S4, but they are not as noise reducing as the EI80.

I'm a real audiophile and I use senheisser SE425 inears. It's quite good. I have to say the stock Samsung headphones are not so bad also. They have decent bass and high frequencies.

This is a bounty thread for developers/groups who/which are able to provide a solution to make a external USB DAC work on Samsung Galaxy S2 running Ice Cream Sandwich. (Stock or AOSP)
What I/we want is:
Be able to use an external USB DAC like for example fiiO e7 using USB OTG to listen to music with good quality.
I'm gonna start with $20
To Be Donator:
Code:
hIdd3N- $20
screamworks $100
MistahBungle $20
vyis $20
Total:
$160
Please write the amount you are willing to donate in this thread.
If we can achieve full functionality, put me down for $100.
reserved..
EDIT. withdrawn my comment after searching. If supercurio = no good then me = def not
bump... seriously... nobody else?
Given I'm not completely unhappy with the sound quality on the SGS2 (yes, compared to other phones/media players it isn't ideal; agreed. But with decent canalphones it is 'acceptable'), this is only somewhat (as opposed to vitally for some people) important to me.
And obviously if it were working I'd then have to fork out $100+ for a good (yes you can get cheaper ones, but I've 'auditioned' both & you do get what you pay for) USB DAC.
So with that in mind, I'd chip in $20 if someone can get this working with CM9 stock kernel.
My sound no problem so no donation .

Though I'm piss with s2 sound quality, but s2 only gonna stay with me until 1 of September this year.
So put me on $20 if a solutions come before that.
By the way, do one x really have that kind of good output as gsmarena review? If s3 still give this kind of **** like s2 I think one x is a good choice apart from it's non removable battery.

Yes Yes but i am of the opinion that it may be due to a very early build phone .
Plus i tested against my SGS1 at time of purchase .
Though its well known that if you want boom boom bass distortion then this is the wrong phone .

i'm not into those boom boom bass, what really piss me off on S2 is it's muddy sound reproduction, and easily produce chip and hiss on some middle high frequencysong like "power of love","opera 2" totally unaudible thanks to those chip and hiss.
Even my 3 years old going to 4 years basic creative sound blaster x-fi do a much better job.
edit: i'm getting mine last September, is it still early build?

Why is your pre amp volume extremely low, i bet you can hardly hear anything?
The best thing to do is start with bass & treble pre set and instead of highering the bass and treble, lower the mid so bass and treble dont go past 0, and turn pre amp up if not loud enough, it helps cut out the noise from the chip. If you can try to keep limit off and adjust till you are without distortion too.

Remember guys, each brand of headphones has its own eq curve, so one setting isn't going to please everybody. A good idea would be to state your music background (audiophile/general listener), your music taste and what set of iem's / headphones you're using.

Just got my (2nd) Galaxy S3

So I swapped my white one for a blue one... Got to say the blue looks unbelievable I'm pleased that I swapped it.
A few issues though, I never tried the headphones with my first one as I knew it was gonna get sent back. But now I've received this one I thought I would get them out. God they are absolutely pants! Comparing them to some old Iphone headphones the the qualify difference is unbelievable. Anyone else noticed that?
Secondly (random i know) any of you guys noticed Max Payne not being available on the Play store for the S3? I thought it was supposed to be one of the most powerful phones out there!

I just want to point out they are talking about the actual physical headphones. In case someone misunderstands and thinks the audio on the phone is bad.

I find I have to use the headphones supplied with the phone and they sound great with Franco kernel. If I use phones from earlier galaxy, sound is rubbish

I'm more concerned about the 'noise' from the headphone jack! I dont get any pops/cracks like some others reported but theres a clear background noise >.<
This leaves me wondering if its even worth buying better headphones?
I like the Sennheiser MX580/581. Even after my neice messed with it and got it stuck to the baby carriage wheel its still working.
I don't think there should be background noise from the earbuds its self, its the fact that cellphone audio line is not fully isolated combined with low impedence of the earbuds. Also iem can bevery sensitive to little noises. You have to use headphones with higher impedence. Its hard to not get interference from the audio line out of a cellphone due to so many things going on compared to a dedicated mp3 player.
yeah I have noticed that max payne is not in the market....but it use to be there you know...because I bought it from there for my SGS3....now when I check it is not there.....strange....
Is it possible to buy it from the desktop and do your SIII show up in the compatible list for installation. Also is it a carrier branded device and which.

I'm surprised you guys even used bundled earphones.
I thought almost everyone who is somewhat tech savvy used a pair of decent headphones.

Sound Quality

I haven't really seen any detailed accounts of the sound quality; both through some decent cans and external speaker(s).
What say you? Those of you that have used headphones whilst playing with your nexus 7, what do you think of the sound quality?
What about the external speakers? I am not expecting bass, but what does it offer in terms of clarity?
Thanks for playing!!
from http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/07/05/nexus-7-review-the-android-tablet-rebooted/
Audio from the headphone jack on the Nexus 7 is pretty crappy. I don't expect much from a budget device like this, and the Nexus 7 doesn't deliver much. Music sounded quiet, muted, and lacked a lot of dynamic range (almost no bass or highs). Given that this is probably the DAC (digital to analog converter) and headphone amp NVIDIA recommends for its Kai platform, that isn't too surprising. For the casual $30-earbud and Pandora listener, it's not unbearable. And if you're using Bluetooth audio output, it sounds considerably better.

I was mainly wondering if anyone personally had anything to say about it. I have read both good and bad about the sound in reviews. GuessI will wait till I receive it.

sound from electronics is always a funny one what sounds good to one person, sounds terrible to another we will just have to wait and see(hear) =(
i'm confused about the sound from the headphone jack being bad.
Now i don't claim to know much about audio stuff but i've used around 10 different devices in my life with headphones and i've never noticed any difference between them.
So how does the headphone jack have crappy audio.
Sound is fair from the speaker. Its not loud either. Don't expect to rock out using the speaker either.

Get yourself a $59 iHome Bluetooth speaker. Big sound from a little package. Its about the size of a 20oz bottled water.

Yeah, if it's only a software issue, then my fears are resolved. There are great people with great minds here, who work hard to allow us to enjoy our devices to the fullest.
You cannot fix a bad DAC with SOFTWARE. Beats is a joke, its just an equalizer essentially.
This bad DAC rumor is seriously making me consider cancelling my order. Almost all devices now have a good DAC in them recently, for Google to put in a bad one is shocking.
---------- Post added at 03:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:07 AM ----------
Time to panic; the optimus 4x is also a plain jane Tegra3 device and gsmarena has similar complaints as android police about the N7:
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_4x_hd_p880_review-review-780p5.php scroll to the bottom. GSMArena is one of few review sites that tests audio output with objective measures. Sadly they dont do tablet reviews.

Music is really quiet

Got this phone a couple of days ago, moved from the HTC One S with beats audio. I've noticed that top volume (past safe level) on this is equal to around 9/15 on the HTC. Does anybody know any apps that could increase the maximum volume, as I don't want to root quite yet.

You didn't quite get the "not rooting, not unlocking bootloader (or whatever the Samsung equivalent is, I've noticed no HBOOT)" part, did you?
As long as there's a factory image going around for this that puts the phone completely back to stock for warranty purposes, then I'll root now. With my record with phones, this will go wrong the day after I root, without doing anything else to it.
Try jetAudio, you can configure the pre-amp in the equaliser settings, plus the EQ is better than poweramp from my own experience.

There's also an app called Bass Booster, which can increase the volume as well.

Stereo X absolutely raped the bass on my headphones (BOSE MIE2) and made every song sound disgusting, from songs with little bass to songs with lots of bass. Both songs are awesome by the way. Well, now that I've bothered to root (and starting to regret it now that I've heard Triangle Away is useless at the moment) I might as well add beats audio to the phone.
I would get V4A tbh, has tons of customisation and when you get something that suits you its great. Not to mention you can boost the volume with it. FauxSound can also apply gain, I use that too.
