[Q] Low headphone output??? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway to make the headphone output louder? I remember voodoo sound for my old GS1. But are there any sound mod apps or kernels that make the headphone out put stronger?

Pending on your ROM, there is a mixer paths.XML file in system etc that could be of some help.

Cyanogen mod. Do you know the location of the file and how I could change it to make the output louder?

[Q] Help with volume please?

So far, my MT4G is close to being the perfect phone but I'm just about to go back to my Blackberry 9700, why? Because I can't hear the damn thing!
So far, in the week I've owned it I've missed every call because I can't hear it ring (yes, I've tried different ring tones and the volume is set to max,) when I watch a YouTube video the volume is way too low, playing music w/o the earphones is just barely OK. I can hear a phone conversation OK but I'd like it a little louder.
I'll admit to being hearing impaired but I have no volume problems on any other phone I've used in the past (except Samsung all of those I've owned have given me equal problems) this is NOT an HTC problem, volume was fine on MT3G and HD2, it's only the MT4G that I can't hear.
Please help, this is the first phone I've had in years that's close to perfect for me if I could only hear it....
Please post questions in Q&A section.
Anybody? I'm really hoping I'll be able to keep this phone but I have to be able to hear it!

I too had a BB 9700 and the volume was fine. I started off with the same issue with the MT4G. I simply chose a ringtone that had better volume properties and all is fine now.
You said you've tried different ringtones. I actually extracted the ringtones off the BB 9700 and use one of them for my phone ringtone and it is plenty loud. Try that.
I use the Ringer_BBpro_2 ringtone.
I've attached the BB preloaded ringtones.
Thanks, I've found a ringtone that's a bit better, it's the T-Jingle! Wanna bet they did that on purpose?
Went to the T-Mo store today, tried another MT4G, it's volume is the same so it's apparently a problem with the phone? I like the phone so much I'm gonna learn to live with it!
There is an app in the market that boosts the volume for everything. but its only a 7 day trial. so its not free. it works, almost blew my eardrums out with the headphones. Some reason it breaks FM radio tho

Hey CBC I used that app before and can't remember what it's called now. But anyway that app only works for headphones. It's supposed to remove the volume limit when you're plugged in with your headset.
Won't affect ringer volume.
And I'm not using it anymore cause it didn't really have a significant difference.
I'll update when I remember what that app is called.
Also have you tried settings>sound> check box for "pocket mode"?

Don't know if that was meant for me but I have no problems with my volume. My sound is awesome. I make my own ringtones and they are plenty loud.
As far as the name of the app; I was only asking so that other members who are watching this thread would know instead of scratching their heads.

Thanks to all who responded.
I don't use the headphones so the app probably wouldn't help, certainly not with ringtones.
I have the phone set to "Pocket Mode."
I suppose I'll eventually learn to live with it, this AM I used the alarm clock feature and it woke me up so that part has enough volume.
Oh sorry about that. Thought i mentioned the app. Its what was said above volume unlock(er)

I had been able to pull up my BEATS framework from my XL model.
And I had ported it to my Galaxy S2 through CWM .
So There ends the run for the BEATS for your phone to run in now to grab a headset and feel the difference that It produces within your phone.
I need more testers to test this and confirm on different models of the current Android versions.

There is no needed hardware except for the Beats Headphones. Everything is EQ based Ibelieve
Hardware needed is just the piece of earphone which can be replaced by Samsung too, but all thats working is from inside .
It fc's on both my smartphones (Nexus S with AOKP (latest build, I think 25) ICS 4.0.3 and Matr1x Kernel, and Galaxy S II with stock 2.3.4 XXKH3 and Siyah Kernel 2.6.8) The HTC music app. Is that normal behiavour? I can provide logcat from them if you want to
FC'd on SG Ace
FC on Xperia X10 running on MIUI, haven tried it on stock or CM.
anyway i wan to ask this works only on the HTC music player app right? the one i have install.
not on stock music app.
having FC on HTC music only.
FC'd on AOKP Build 23 on my EVO 4G.
FC on Nexus One.
It seems that uses the HTC Music Player, that doesn`t work on other terminals until someone modifies the app.
it is FC on galaxy s plus GT-I9001??? htc music closed unexpectidely ..
The interesting thing is that the update.zip doesn't have any framework file but just the HTC Music and the HTC Music Widget. Are they moded into the apk or have the dev forgot to include them?

this is honestly really dumb. go get dspmanager or Equalizer or anything from the market and you'll get many more options. plus it will work on your phone if it isn't HTC.
literally the only thing that beats does on the rezound and whatever else is change the equalizer to have more bass, and only when you use the ear buds that come with the phone. it's complete crap, nothing but a marketing gimmick.

Music is really quiet

Got this phone a couple of days ago, moved from the HTC One S with beats audio. I've noticed that top volume (past safe level) on this is equal to around 9/15 on the HTC. Does anybody know any apps that could increase the maximum volume, as I don't want to root quite yet.

You didn't quite get the "not rooting, not unlocking bootloader (or whatever the Samsung equivalent is, I've noticed no HBOOT)" part, did you?
As long as there's a factory image going around for this that puts the phone completely back to stock for warranty purposes, then I'll root now. With my record with phones, this will go wrong the day after I root, without doing anything else to it.
Try jetAudio, you can configure the pre-amp in the equaliser settings, plus the EQ is better than poweramp from my own experience.

There's also an app called Bass Booster, which can increase the volume as well.

Stereo X absolutely raped the bass on my headphones (BOSE MIE2) and made every song sound disgusting, from songs with little bass to songs with lots of bass. Both songs are awesome by the way. Well, now that I've bothered to root (and starting to regret it now that I've heard Triangle Away is useless at the moment) I might as well add beats audio to the phone.
I would get V4A tbh, has tons of customisation and when you get something that suits you its great. Not to mention you can boost the volume with it. FauxSound can also apply gain, I use that too.

bro try boeffla sound once and u will never return to stock
Guys,why did I wrote that?
I installed custom ROMs and Kernels to get good performance, louder and better sound quality, and ended up with stock ROM and kernel. Why? Because I tried every set, just everything (overclocking, tweaking sounds and etc). That took me 2 months, but I didn't notice a difference. All sound mods tried, boeffla kernel also, siyah (on 4.1.2),and I'm still sure that listening to music with everything stock is still enough for me.
Btw,I'm audiophile. Listening to music with headphones connected to my phone whole day. I got bass,I got loud sound and that's enough.
My opinion.
u may be getting more bass, more loudness
but with boeffla u will always get extra kick

I remember when I overclocked my phone to 1.7 once and it finally started to show some issues,so I downlocked it to 1.6 and it was stable as hell. 1.6 is the best option for GS3. Also,I undervolted it by -70 too. Was stable whole week

Performance is great, and stable as stock, because the same chip is in the Note 2 and is on stock 1.6, so its logic that its underclocked on the S3. You can notice the jump on performance by just oppening and closing apps, and i havent tryed messing with the voltage :/ i dont think i will.

Biggest issue is that, unless you make an airtight seal with your ear canal, you will not hear much bass. These buds assume you get the bass bump of the occlusion effect. To check if you have such a seal, turn off the audio while the buds are in and walk around. If you can hear thump, thump, thump of each step, you have them properly sealed in your ear. If not, you don't.
