I have Motorola Droid RAZR M (xt907)
Build number: KPA20.10.1
Android KitKat 4.4.2
System version: 185.46.10.xt907.Verizon.en.US
I cannot unlock bootloader on this phone. I have heard that I have to downgrade but I cannot find proper firmware.

XT907 with kernel date July 2014 or after
can now be unlocked with sunshine app
http://theroot.ninja/download.html
xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792487
free to test compatibility, $25 to unlock
I would root with hydrogen peroxide, even though kingroot or temporary root should work too

It's the kernel date that matters.

I am just curious if anyone has figured out a way to root the M on 4.1.2 without having to unlock the boot loader. Thanks.

There is no way to unlock the boot loader on the RAZR M (retail). As for the Electrify M (which I presume you own), achieving root from unlocking the boot loader the only valid method.

Big news today on this topic involving @djrbliss (Dan Rosenberg), per droidrzr.com. My OMAP phone can't use this method, but I wanted to give people on this forum a heads-up. So go check it out!

Thanks. I just never could figure out why the electrify 2 was rootable without unlock on 4.0.4 but the M couldn't be.

So it seems that the bootloader is locked just as it is on the verizon moto x. I tried using the official unlock method and the page said my device isn't eligible to be unlocked.

And why would you think that anyone would release a phone with a preunlocked bootloader?

I didn't. Motorola made it really easy to unlock the bootloader on the gsm moto x and moto g. But that unlock method didn't work on the Verizon moto x, and it seems it doesn't work on the Verizon moto g either. The Verizon moto x's boot loader was never unlocked, and it seems that the moto g will face the same fate.

would be a help to root my DROID RAZR M, ota updated to 4.4.2 kitkat
If your asking about root there isn't any for 4.4.2. That I know of

At the moment there is no confirmed exploit for 4.4.2 unless you have an unlocked bootloader. Still holding out hope that someone can figure it out. If not, I'm still perfectly happy with the update. My phone is substantially snappier.

Hey guys. Sorry for this post. But a while back, I unlocked my xt907 using the SunShine S-OFF and unlock tool, and now I can't enter recovery in the bootloader settings. Literally, It justs hangs on the warning screen and then reboots with the Droid animation. I've tried reflashing the recovery image so much times now. So is there any way to fix this issue, or do I need to say that this phone's done for?
